    Just so that it is clear, Mumbai is a costly city to live in. The rent that some of these ladies pay is more than a lot of our salaries. So they have basically achieved the dream of many young adults in our country, to live in a metro city as an independent woman. More power to them!

    • @pinkheart315
      @pinkheart315 4 ปีที่แล้ว +92

      I agree. If they can afford the rent. Means their salaries are good. Many people have 10,000 rupees or 20,000 rupees salary. These people are literally paying more than that for rent. That is amazing

    • @MubashirAR
      @MubashirAR 4 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      @Fuzzybucket You don't need to live in slums to pay less. That said this location is probably dead center in terms of location based house pricing (Not sure about rent). but when they show 3 houses they shpuld show 3 distant locations as opposed to all within a 10KM radius. I guess the point of the series though is to show what its like living close to offices (or have good public transport) in different size houses

Also, 1 US dollars is about 70 Rupees in India so it sounds really cheap to you. But India won't pay you that much so the ratios will come down to Indian standards. Still better than LA tho, considering everything going on in US lol so you should definitely move-in here😂

    As someone who no longer lives with their parents, I have to say that there is NOTHING shameful about still living with them at all, as long as you are a helpful member of the household (pulling your weight in housework, maybe paying rent, etc). It’s an excellent way to say money and honestly it’s better for the environment to have people sharing their space. Plus if you have a good relationship with your family it’s awesome to have them in the same home!!
    So for all those people who still live with their parents, don’t feel ashamed! Just make sure you aren’t taking advantage of your parents. If you’re living rent-free and never help clean, then yeah you should be ashamed of yourself. If you’re helpful, then there’s nothing wrong :)

      In the US itiscustom to be on your own at 18. It is a stigma if you are in your 20´s, 30´s and still in yourparents house. This custom explains why we struggle and have a hard time saving. I live in Brazil now and many kids are at their parents home until ,arriage and sometimes after that, their family moves in or they build onto their parents´ home. I love this concept of togetherness. It´s awesome.Some families have broken this custom in the US, but for many, it is the norm: 18 and out!

      A lot of people call Dharavi a slum in a derogatory manner. I agree it's a slum and not exactly the kind of place anyone would want to live in but it's different from the East Asian slums or the Western slums. Dharavi is a full on economic powerhouse and people don't give it enough credit for that. They look at it and be like "oh slums" when it's much more than that. Dharavi is not your typical slum with poor people and cheap drugs. There are a lot of businesses in Dharavi that would give a tough competition to brands like purplle and zivame had they the proper advertising and investment. Many don't move their business out on purpose because they'll have to then register it and pay the high Bombay rent and income tax. All I'm trying to say is that I know it's Asia's largest slum but it's also Asia's largest local economic community.

      @@amya7066 It's usually situational to be honest. You don't always have to be broke. A lot of us who move out into our own homes do it to get away from family and make our own lives. Most of my bachelor friends had to live like this initially and we're all very educated and from middle class families. I myself had to share a bed with my ex roommate (also ex best friend) for around 6 months due to expensive rent. However, I have my own place now but it takes a while for a lot of people to settle down independently in Indian cities. One of the biggest reasons so many youngsters choose to stay with family is to save out on paying rent.
