If enough of us use the correct terms the trend will eventually fade out. Just sharing my perspective on this!
I was so happy when she used the word particular over OCD! I don't know why mental illnesses became a trend that people used to describe behaviours when it's not something to be joked about or compare to - these are serious disorders that people struggle with and by others using it as slang it takes the piss out of those who actually have it. I have certain behaviours that might fall under 'OCD tendencies', but I would never say I have it - I just call myself a perfectionist and very particular about how I like things done. There is a big difference between wanting something a certain way and then doing something because if you don't you physically can't live life comfortably without doing said thing. *cries in fiber artist* THIS IS NOT YARN. This is ROVING its suppose to be turned INTO YARN. The reason it "rips easy" is because it's not intended to be used this way. I dont care what the lying seller says. ROVING IS NOT YARN! This blanket is going to look like poo in a VERY short time since the structure of the fibers have no strength without being spun. The felting will help a little. But not much. Think ruined in 2 days instead of 10 minutes. There are actual chunky yarns made to make blankets like this with. Also, this is crochet. Not knitting. *breathes into a paper bag*
It starts as finger - or hand I guess - crochet but branches into knitting without needles. I've done plenty of hand crochet and you don't do loops all the way down and then loop through with crochet, just knitting. Some kinds of yarn are intentionally very much like roving, and "yarn" these days seems to have expanded its meaning. Strips of cloth can be called yarn depending. It's very tearable tho
@@isobelsanders3741 Bernet makes a super chunky yarn that is very durable for projects like this. It's a little smaller than the roving ropes but that just means it will be more comfortable to use and work with. You can still arm knit or crochet with it. Happy knitting!

@@ashlynmilton9218 It's those fuzzy little balls that you get on clothing. Usually where it gets rubbed from wearing. As this ''yarn'' has absolutely no twist in it, anything will catch and pull at the fibres.
i bought one online recently, but the only problem is that its getting sort of fuzzy? its shedding a little bit too but i assume that if you buy your own wool, or get a higher quality one than i did, you'll be fine! and no lint balls so far :)
i have heard that these get very nasty with use, they look awful and literally EVERYTHING gets stuck to them. And to top that off it is very hard to clean. Maybe you can wash it in washer on wool program with wool soap, but thats not a given it would not felt the whole thing up and then there is also a question concerning the drying of the whole thing - definetly not in dryer, maybe would work if you lay it flat on the warm floor and leave it for some days , since that would be legit time it would take to dry it since you cant really spin it on high rpm in machine either. I got some chunky yarn myself for REALLY cheap price and was about to make one myself, but then I kinda stopped with the whole thing since I just imagined how it would look in no time in my house ( i have small children ),

Periwinkle! You've probably already decided by now. It looks like you did a really good job. I have a hard time on the ends when I was crocheting, too. That's why I didn't keep crocheting because I kept getting in the wrong loop. Anyways, this looks so cozy and comfortable, too.
I love this! I have always wanted to make one of those blankets. I am a few years older than you and I get A LOT of weird looks because I know how to knit, sew, and bake. Girl do you. Sometimes DIY is fun, especially when it saves you a good chunk of money.

Seriously so much respect for you using particular instead of OCD. While being particular is a part of OCD, it's a small part of it... Lots of people with OCD struggle with things people would think are morbid. I know a woman who's diagnosed OCD who doesn't have any knives in her home because her OCD makes her think she's going to murder her family. It's terrifying, and a lot more serious than mainstream trends make it out to be.
When she made the pile of yarn neater in the beginning I breathed a sigh of relief... then five seconds later it got lopsided again!!! Ahhhh! Okay I need to chill.

i just found this video just now and you are absolutely adorable funny real af. This video is hilarious and informative at the same time. Bravo Girl love it :)
My friends and I all learned to knit by joining a knitting club that was on during school lunches, our school doesn't have indoor spaces to sit when it's raining at lunch so our main motivation to join was to stay dry and warm when it was raining all winter... but then it was actually really fun to knit. We all made the squares together to make a giant blanket which my friend still has at her house. Never assume the type of person who can knit, there is no type, in my friend group we had -2 girls who got to uni on a scholarship for their smarts -another one on a sports scholarship (she's a rugby coach and the team captain, as well as breaking all our school swimming records) she's studying a double degree, law and buisness - one was apprenticing as a hairdresser at school and is now a professional hairdresser -and the last one is at polytech studying to work in childcare -im studying zoology and I'm the prsident of an archery club None of this screams "hey I can knit"
First time watching your videos! I love the colour! I would love to try this out! Love your personality and honesty about the whole process and costs. Definitely got a new subbie! Xx.
Doesn't crocheting result in chains? That looks exactly like your typical knit/purl stockinette stitch in knitting (V's on one side, loops on the other). I don't know a whole lot about crocheting, but it doesn't seem to leave a row of loops sticking out (like the kind that would typically sit on a needle in knitting) like you see in the tutorial vid at the beginning.
I thought that 2 start with. But crochet only has 1 working stitch whereas this is all the row. However casting on is the same as crochet. If you got rid of the needles when knitting it looks like this I'm pretty sure

Since these aren't wool you can't just felt the ends together when you need a new ball, you typically sew them (or tie a knot if you want it done quick!)
Thank you for the suggestions!
I'm only 2 mins in, but I need to pause and request you to do more videos like this!!! You make it fun and inspiring versus when I try to do this stuff by myself and I get bored and quit lol.
“Why does nobody have any faith in my knitting abilities” OML SAME!
It looks like that yarn came from the trees from the lorax 😝
Sorry buddy, someone already commented that.
you probably scrolled down the comments section and saw that buddy that commented that and decided to copy it. that not nice.
Its does haha 😃
@@disneybounddolls6421 When someone copies me, I take it as a compliment.
Mia is dat boi not the first to say that
I’m allergic to wool so this will be extra cheap for meeee
Gurl I feel ya
What fabric could i use to make this blanket? I’m allergic too
i didn't even know a wool allergy was a thing :o
Therina83 thank you so much!!
you can use a polyester filled cotton tube, kinda like a vegan chunky yarn.
Do a pastel mint green it would really compliment the couch
I’ve been wanting one of these chunky knit blankets forever🤩🤩🤩I learned how to knit from my Grandma 👵🏼 but I’m super rusty too. It’s been years😅. I’m definitely gonna need to watch tutorials once I get all the yarn I need...I vote for periwinkle.✌️❤️
*cries in fiber artist*
THIS IS NOT YARN.
Thank UUU.
Woah I had no idea! Thanks for the clarification, What would you suggest to use to make a throw like this then?
@@isobelsanders3741 Bernet makes a super chunky yarn that is very durable for projects like this. It's a little smaller than the roving ropes but that just means it will be more comfortable to use and work with. You can still arm knit or crochet with it. Happy knitting!
@@emeralddarkness I think they'd know since they're a fiber artist. And they're right, this is crochet and not knit. They're completely different.
This reminds me of the giant rubber band ball. As someone diagnosed with OCD thank you for replacing OCD with particular. I appreciate you respecting people who suffer from OCD.
Ok i had to pause to write this comment. It's so cute how you are so real and the face you make when you are confused. Anyways great job on trying to knit again. I never learned to knit even if my grandma and mom knits at home. Lol
Thank you! No one in my family knits at all so they think I’m crazy lol
@@saaammage They are CRAZY proud of you I bet.
I made a blanket not with merino wool Idk what kind I used but it was from Wal-Mart and it was 36$ for 4 balls of it and the yarn is sooo cozy and warm so I recommend whoever’s reading this to try that☺️

My parents were just overhearing me watch this video and my dad goes "Did she just say... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 manifesting??" 😂😂😂😂
Lol
You do know that since this is just roving, which is meant to be spun into yarn, this will pill before your eyes.
What does pill mean? Sry not trying to be rude
@@ashlynmilton9218 It's those fuzzy little balls that you get on clothing. Usually where it gets rubbed from wearing. As this ''yarn'' has absolutely no twist in it, anything will catch and pull at the fibres.
@@ilmaba1756 oh thanks🙄
ilma ba That is why she felted the blanket.
@@ashlynmilton9218 Why are you rolling your eyes?
Does this get dirty quickly? Like would they easily get lint balls stuck to it?
Alexis Meade this is an excellent question! I need an answer...
Good question
i bought one online recently, but the only problem is that its getting sort of fuzzy? its shedding a little bit too but i assume that if you buy your own wool, or get a higher quality one than i did, you'll be fine! and no lint balls so far :)
@@roxannepohl6169 thank you!
i have heard that these get very nasty with use, they look awful and literally EVERYTHING gets stuck to them. I got some chunky yarn myself for REALLY cheap price and was about to make one myself, but then I kinda stopped with the whole thing since I just imagined how it would look in no time in my house ( i have small children ),
Girl 8 years & you still CAN DO IT. BEAUTIFUL
A teal might a good contrast with the grey and matches the blue. It'll make your walls look even whiter.
"I'm already home...so we just gonna go big." 😂TH-cam suggested this video to me, I'm unsure why, but I am loving your personality already 🤗
I was suggested this video because I watched one video of needle felting
Are you going to the film the one for the couch? I don’t remember if you said it but I hope you do lol :)
Maybe on my second channel lol

jordynlovecat haha
I am sitting here in absolute shock and amazement. That is the most beautiful blanket ever, and you just whipped it up like it was NOTHING! It takes me longer to “knit” one skein of “loopy yarn” than it did for you to complete this project, from start to finish. I’m seriously just… wow. Liked, subscribed, hit the bell, I’m just impressed beyond words, I’m a blathering idiot right now. Wow. [signs onto Etsy from iPad to order some Merino wool, because I totally *need* one of these blankets right this second, even as we are entering summer in the hot, humid, disgusting city of New Orleans, Louisiana!]
You are my spirit animal!!! I used cotton tube yarn to make my blanket and it’s more durable than the merino wool. Your blanket looks great! I dealt with some of the same issues you did, but it’s still gorgeous!
Wow! You did an amazing job!
I LOVEEE navy blue with the whole white and gray look. That is the color combo in my living room! You should try it!
I currently have a navy faux fur throw and navy pillows 👍🏼
Oh my gosh, it was so freaking satisfying to watch the wool unravel!
First video I’ve watched of you and I love it! Your personality is amazing!
I love how self-aware you are in post 😝 it makes for educational entertainment! This was really cool to watch
That looks wonderful for first time doing a chunky blanket!
You can buy these on amazon for $75 in that same color (free shipping)
Giuliana Isabellä where?
Kimberly amazon
Giuliana Isabellä yes. you mentioned that. I’m asking where on Amazon. I do not see any Marino Wool for near that price.
@@Kimberly-wt1nu I think they mean the blanket itself...not the wool...
Marquella Williams sorry. yes. I meant the blanket itself. For the size she made, in 100% marino wool, you can’t find it on Amazon for $75.
I LOVE the color! Great job and please more of this type of video!
Periwinkle! You've probably already decided by now. It looks like you did a really good job. I have a hard time on the ends when I was crocheting, too. That's why I didn't keep crocheting because I kept getting in the wrong loop. Anyways, this looks so cozy and comfortable, too.

Turquoise!!! Go like a deep turquoise it will watch perfect with grey couch blue pillows white back drop and not get dirty so easy!!
I love this! I have always wanted to make one of those blankets. I am a few years older than you and I get A LOT of weird looks because I know how to knit, sew, and bake. Girl do you. Sometimes DIY is fun, especially when it saves you a good chunk of money.
Alyssa Pentecost I can sew simply (things like a hem, dolls, buttons, etc) But never even touched a sewing machine so can’t say I can make clothing. Is knitting extremely difficult, or is it fairly easy to grasp like hand sewing?
alize0623 knitting is very easy !!! but this is crocheting, which ive never done honestly
quiet prince Is it? And how would you rate crochet in difficulty? Compared to sewing, anyway
Loved watching you knit the blanket, such cool looking fun and so creative to do, made me want to make one. I also liked watching you, you've got a neat, vibrant personality, I will watch more of your vids, thanks for sharing, made me laugh too.
You inspire me to make one and my husband thinks i am crazy..lol!! Love it!!
If you’re husband doesn’t call you crazy or ridiculous.... is he really yo husband LOL
When she made the pile of yarn neater in the beginning I breathed a sigh of relief... then five seconds later it got lopsided again!!! Ahhhh! Okay I need to chill.
Bored bunnyX thought it was just me😩 OCD at its finest 🤦🏾♀️
Niita Bee yep for sure
It’s a nice color... good job! I had faith in you when the video first started. I see that Stella perfume! I want it! Haha...
Omg I want that kind of blanket soooooooo bad!!!! Especially since my bed stuff are coming in this week! & it seems so easy to make! Hopefully I can do it!
also you weren't wrong about the felting part! I'm proud because I knit, crochet, and felt so appreciative when people get it right or correct themselves when they are wrong.😄
It looks amazing!!! I was telling my husband how much I love the look of those blankets.. I absolutely love the color!! Good job girl!!
Yellow! Omg you should do like a mustard yellow. It will look BOMB with the rest of the colors.
Yuck
Breakfast at Tiffany's i actually think mustard yellow would look bomb. but i just like the color yellow soo 🤷🏻♀️
Lol, you are too cute. I've been mulling over making one of these blankets but the prices have given me pause. Soooo thank you for linking the etsy shop!!! I'm going to do it!
I learnt to crochet/knit on youtube and honestly its the biggest stress reliever hobby you can do
That ball of yarn is a cat’s dream...
I give you props for making the attempt. I always wanted to know how to do it just did not know how. You showed them. Ha, Ha. Thank you for showing me how
It looks more like crochet than knitting but amazing job! It looks amazing.
Omg this is the first video I watched of yours I've already subscribed..I love your channel
i just found this video just now and you are absolutely adorable funny real af.
Never assume the type of person who can knit, there is no type, in my friend group we had
-2 girls who got to uni on a scholarship for their smarts
-another one on a sports scholarship (she's a rugby coach and the team captain, as well as breaking all our school swimming records) she's studying a double degree, law and buisness
- one was apprenticing as a hairdresser at school and is now a professional hairdresser
-and the last one is at polytech studying to work in childcare
-im studying zoology and I'm the prsident of an archery club
None of this screams "hey I can knit"
I watched like 2 seconds of your video and I'm like yeah I need to follow her I already like her 😂
I’m living for this “Sam Crafts” video
My new favorite TH-camr 💖💖💖

First time watching your videos! I love the colour! I would love to try this out! Love your personality and honesty about the whole process and costs. Definitely got a new subbie! Xx.
OMG HOW DID YOU DO THAT SO GOOD Maybe make a mint green one for your couch
You should try ASMR. The nail tapping when you where counting the stitches aww so good.
i dont know if anybody has commented this, but what you were doing was not knitting! it's called crocheting (:
It’s not cause my mum does crocheting every day
Doesn't crocheting result in chains? That looks exactly like your typical knit/purl stockinette stitch in knitting (V's on one side, loops on the other). I don't know a whole lot about crocheting, but it doesn't seem to leave a row of loops sticking out (like the kind that would typically sit on a needle in knitting) like you see in the tutorial vid at the beginning.
No body cares
I thought that 2 start with. But crochet only has 1 working stitch whereas this is all the row. However casting on is the same as crochet. If you got rid of the needles when knitting it looks like this I'm pretty sure
@@Coyoteclaw11 i might have been wrong about it, but it looks like she's crocheting. i honestly don't know though.
I always learned to felt it after it's made... But I never even knew they made yarn this thick!;❤️
Looks great! Good job!!
I think it's really cool you decided to make it yourself! like yass, we stan someone who can make her own things!
