  • Thanks for visiting my channel! This is my most popular tutorial, where I teach you how to hand knit a chunky blanket. I hope you enjoy, and if you have any questions just comment on the video and I'll get back to you. Or you can message me on Instagram at @shescraftyandsheknowsit. ⭐ DON'T FORGET to subscribe 👉 click here: bit.ly/3Zg0ILR 👈
    👉 YARN OPTIONS:
    ⭐ (1). THIS IS THE YARN I RECOMMEND THE MOST - this is a non-shedding/non-wool yarn. (you'll need about 6-8 skeins to make a blanket like mine): rstyle.me/+LAZ...
    NOTE: You can watch me use this yarn to make a blanket here: • How to Hand Knit a Rib...
    ⭐ (2). Here is another non-shedding/non-wool yarn (use the chart on this page to determine how much yarn you need): amzn.to/3gWE4Vs
    ⭐ (3). This is the best wool option I can find (please note that this yarn WILL shed. Use the chart on this page to determine how much yarn you need): amzn.to/3t5WMN5
    ANSWERS TO POPULAR QUESTIONS:
    - Unfortunately the yarn I used is sold out, but I linked some options above.
    - I used a total of 216 yards, and my blanket ended up being 50x64" - BUT how much yarn you need will depend on how thick your yarn is and how big you want your blanket to be!

    Just a helpful tip: No need to tie two yarns together. Simply leave a long tail on both skeins and continue to knit. The weaving will bind the two together. When done, just weave all of the loose ends and the blanket will be flat, with no bumps or knots. (Knots weaken the bond and can sometimes come undone too, leaving a hole). That's what I do when I crochet. Same thing, just different size. Beautiful blanket. Thank you for the tutorial. You did a great job! :)

      Thanks for the tip Cyndi! I’ve always tied knots in my knitting and crocheting - it’s just the way I was taught. I’ll have to try it the other way next time. Since this blanket has bigger loops and is a little bit of a looser stitch the thought of not doing knots makes me nervous since my 3 little kids love using the blanket, but I’m going to look into it! Thanks!

    Excellent instructional! I've wanted to buy a chunky blanket for a long time, (they are expensive) but saw chunky yarn at Joanne's and decided to make one. I used to knit with knitting needles when I was younger, but I haven't done that in years. I had no idea how to make these only knew it was called "hand knitting."
    I watched your video and now I have a very good idea how to make my own chunky blanket. I will also make some for gifts for friends and family, if I'm not so klutzy that I destroy the yarn.
    With your instruction, I think I can do it!

    • @JessLudlam
      @JessLudlam 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joleejo82 It took me a couple hours. I had only brought 2 skeins not really knowing how big of a blanket it would make when I purchased them long ago. It made a small throw. After that I bought 4 skeins of a really fuzzy faux fur. I knew that would be way more challenging as it's harder to see what your doing with fur. That one I'm still working on and am half way through the process. I have adhd so I usually jump to random different projects suddenly or procrastinate forever.

    I am hoping that you are still responding to this tutorial. I love how wonderfully you explain how to hand crochet this blanket and the pillow. I am in a bit of a situation. my throw is curling on the first row, no matter how many times a undo it is still curling. I have finished the throw. Have you got any ideas regarding how to fix the curling?

    • @ShesCraftyandSheKnowsIt
      @ShesCraftyandSheKnowsIt  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a couple of reasons the end could be curling but the main reason is usually because that first row has loops that are either bigger or smaller than the rows above it. The cause could be something different though, and it’s kind of hard to tell without seeing it. If you have Instagram you can send me some pictures so that I can really look it over. It depends what yarn you’re doing. TH-cam won’t let me put links in the comments anymore apparently, but I’ve linked a non-wool yarn in the description of this video. It’s from Michaels and is my new favorite yarn. With that yarn I would do about 4 skeins for lap blanket I think, and maybe more like 6 for a throw. Hope that helps!

    • @janellefranco9144
      @janellefranco9144 3 ปีที่แล้ว
