I went to my aunts house for the weekend and someone had made a hand-knitted blanket for my little cousin. I just got into my first friend group at school and every year tgey gift each ither before winter break and im goung to make them blankets with this video. You probably wont see my comment but thank you ❤
I’ve skimmed through probably 2 dozen videos, because my brain just did NOT understand what they were doing, even though they were all for “beginners.” I don’t understand the terminology, why they’re using certain tools, etc. Thankfully, I actually understand this one! 🙌🏼 I’ve never crocheted before, so for doing multiple colors, is it basically the same concept for adding another skein? Just tie on, trim & go? Thanks! This video is super helpful. 💜
I’m so happy you found the video useful! Yes , you can absolutely tie on your next color when you run out of the first but only if you want the color to start right after the previous color, no matter where on the blanket that happens. But if you want the color change to be more solid (like a definite stripe of color all the way across, you’ll want to make sure to attach your new skein right before you start a new row of loops. Hope that makes sense. 💕

Currently using this video to make a wool mix chunky blanket :) Beyond excited!! Do you know how big of a blanket I can make with 26 skeins of weight 6 yarn (87 yards per skein)? Thank you for making this video, Hooky ❤️
I’m so happy you found it helpful. Hm - regarding the size of a blanket for your amount of yarn ... that’s a toughie. I’m terrible with math. The Bernat yarn was a size 7 with 32 yards in each. I had to do some trial and error to figure out how much I needed. I would recommend you do the same. I would take one skein and start a chain to the width you think you want your blanket to be. I literally made the chain , and placed it across my body to make sure it was covering me well. Then , start making your blanket with the one skein and measure how far it went. 12, 36, 48 inches? Whatever that number is you can figure out how many more skeins it would need to get to the length you want. It’s a bit time consuming of course but it’s really the best way to see what you need. I was making blankets for different family members - some tall , some petite , I even made one as a couple snuggle blanket. I did this test to do my best to size it to them. Hope this helps 💕
Thank you so much! I’ll definitely try that method. In the meantime, please release more finger/hand/arm knitting content 💕 Looking forward to your videos!
@@sydneydowning4476 oh boy , I think I used 7 for that one , Sydney. But you can get away with 6 . Just won’t be as long. Focus on the width first - drape a chain across your body (across hips) to get an idea of how wide you need it to be for 2 people . It’s much easier to add to the length rather than having to start over with the width.
I can’t thank you enough for going slow and patiently explaining your steps. I looked at 7 videos before I found one I understood. I’m on row 3 and yayyyy!
Yikes, yes, tricky . I think I would probably wrap the label through one of the loops and stitch the label together rather than trying to stitch it directly into the yarn. That’s just a thought , though, I haven’t tried this 🤔
Companion Pillow: th-cam.com/video/ef1mYcF1FWY/w-d-xo.html Hey everyone! In this video, I share how to finger knit a chenille chunky blanket. No experience with crochet/knitting necessary! The throw featured in this video is 3' x 4' and I used 5 skeins of Bernat Blanket Yarn (32 yards in each skein) . For a 4' x 5 , I'd recommend 6 skeins.
The best chunky blanket tutorial on TH-cam. I have tried others, none compares to the simplicity of this one. Thank you so much for helping me with 2 requested Christmas blankets for my grandchildren. Mary from Boston
I would recommend you make a chain and drape it across your hips to get the width you want first. That way you can buy another skein if you want it longer when you’re finished. My point is , get the width you want right first. Much easier to make it longer than wider.

My mom & grandma both knit & crocheted. My mom taught me & my left handed sister to do so as well. I lost my mom 6 years ago & seeing this I knew she'd want to make this. She had a severe stroke & we tried crocheting together as one because she lost use of left arm & hand. It didn't work. I just got into my first friend group at school and every year tgey gift each ither before winter break and im goung to make them blankets with this video. You probably wont see my comment but thank you ❤
I see it and think it is a lovely idea. 👏🏻🧶💕
@Jennifer Defoor well done you. I'm gonna try myself at my earliest opportunity.

This was one of the easiest to understand, short and yet incredibly detailed video I could find on youtube! Love the time stamps and how you showed how the blanket looked like in the end.
Thank you and will do! 👋🏻💕💕
@@PlayHookywithMe how big was your couple snuggle blanket? Do you remember how many skeins it took? Thank you
@@sydneydowning4476 oh boy , I think I used 7 for that one , Sydney.
So glad 😀💕👏🏻🧶
Do you have any recommendation on how to add a label on this type of fabric/style? :) must be a bit more tricky
Yikes, yes, tricky . I think I would probably wrap the label through one of the loops and stitch the label together rather than trying to stitch it directly into the yarn. That’s just a thought , though, I haven’t tried this 🤔

Hey everyone!
Thank you very much

i just bought 4 skeins each 120 yards and now im trying to figure out how big of a blanket i can make before i even start …
I would recommend you make a chain and drape it across your hips to get the width you want first. That way you can buy another skein if you want it longer when you’re finished. My point is , get the width you want right first. Much easier to make it longer than wider.
