In a mad moment, I decided to order the wool for this to make it for my friend's birthday... The wool arrived two days before the birthday, and I was working both days (I have no prior knitting experience!)... The race was on!
Two 2 1/2 hour sessions later, following your video with care, and it was finished in time!
This is the best guide to non-needle knitting I've found - I'm now going to try scarves... 😎
    Thanks Roz! X

What store did you purchase this yarn? I've gone to Target, Michael's and Jo-Ann's. Target never carried yarn , Michael's discontinued this yarn 6 months ago and Jo-Ann's stopped years ago. I am at a lose. I don't want to purchase sight unseen from Amazon and have to send it back. Any other ideas?

@@ritaholston6793 I’m really surprised that you’re having difficulty finding this yarn. I bought more just last week at Michaels to make another blanket for TH-cam. I also easily found it online (Michaels) .
Maybe it’s going by a different name ?
I’m also seeing a similar yarn at Walmart lately. The only thing ,though, is it looks like they are not providing much yarn in the ball so it might come out more pricey.
There is a company called BeCozi that makes this polyester yarn . That might be an option. They do tutorials here on TH-cam .
Please check the link in the description box below my video here see if you still have issues ordering from Michaels. Bernat Blanket Big.
Sorry you are having difficulty, that stinks 💕

I am 74 years old and we learned how to crochet, knit, sew and embroider in elementary school in Germany, something that was mandatory and not elective back in those days. I took home economics in middle school
      (USA grades 7-9)
Had to take sewing half the school year and the other half cooking / baking.
Back then, boys and girls had to enroll.
Not sure if they still offer it but it's something they should require in schools today, with a course on how to make this blanket.
      It's beautiful.

Ok for all the dudes out there who are trifling over another dude knitting and crocheting blankets, here's a little history for you. Knitting and crocheting were actually started by men who were fisherman. They had to repair their nets. This continued through the generation and women picked up on it to make clothing and blankets for their families. The fisherman worked also in the winter months. So they had to have warm things. Some didn't have wives and women to do these things for. So they branched out their skills to provide for themselves. Knitting and crocheting are being taught to soldiers suffering from PTSD, male and female alike. It calms the thoughts, focuses the attention on something real and tangible instead of memories and flashbacks. Its taught to prisoners (men and women) to help give them some creative outlet. It works. There is a combat veteran who has his own TH-cam channel for crocheting. He suffers from PTSD and he wanted to share his skill with other veterans to help them. Until you suffer from this stuff, you don't know what its like. Its agony. I suffer from it, too. And about the young man who said we need to try it, he's showing passion for something he learned. He wants to share his passion for it. Thats a good thing! You need to do this.😉😁

Hello everyone I return with great news, after my week journey I can say with confidence I completed my first blanket, final measurement 100in long and about 70in wide and it took about 17 to 19 balls of yarn in the end it was worth it. Now let me tell you this thing will keep you hot not warm HOT.
The only thing wrong is you can tell i was learning as I go from somewhat loose knots to damn near air tight with no holes, all in all great tutorial and I’m never making something this big again.

My mom & grandma both knit & crocheted. My mom taught me & my left handed sister to do so as well. I lost my mom 6 years ago & seeing this I knew she'd want to make this. She had a severe stroke & we tried crocheting together as one because she lost use of left arm & hand. It didn't work. I wish we had known about this because I really think we could have done this together as one. I may make it to honor her & the skills she gave me. Thank you.

I promise to try and keep this short, I'm bad about running on.... My mother was born in Pittsburgh in the 30's, hard times to say the least so her and her 6 siblings ended up in a "home for destitute children". All were taken in by family over time except her and her younger brother. Anyway, as time went on and she got older they were allowed to work outside the home. She got 2 jobs, one at a soda fountain cafe, and the other in an alteration/dry cleaning shop. The passion for tailor and alterations was born. Later in life when she became a free woman and married my soldier dad, she opened her own tailor and alteration shop. I grew up in mostly hand made clothes, (but of course we did get the Sears "Wish Book" clothes for Christmas). My moms shop ended up being the only shop in town that did the alterations for all the clothing shops.
Not sure why I went in to all that, but long story short I watched my mother do so many different things with fabrics, yarn, crocheting that these videos just catch my attention. Feels a little weird because I'm an antique metal restorer, old Perfection heaters, lanterns, tools, anything metal. I couldn't help myself after watching this and I am now making one of these blankets in honor of my mother as a gift to my wife. Thanks for sharing, and sorry for going on and on.
