Slip knot Chain to desired length Dc (double crochet) in each chain Repeat until desired width Tie off and tuck ends. It's really simple and you can find better ways to attach new skeins but with yarn this big I wouldn't bother. I may try this when I finally get things settled on my interior design goals. Btw you did an amazing job for someone who's not a crocheter. You may not have been but you are now, welcome to the team.
@@JennsCorner777 Of course 😊 It's really a simple technique, although a little time consuming. Worth it though! So, in this blogpost you'll find the info you need: crochetverse.com/483-2/ However, I would add the step of pulling the strips after cutting like they do at the 6 minute mark in this video: th-cam.com/video/lTA91E1EGW4/w-d-xo.html It makes the entire thing look way neater and like you've used actual yarn. It's also easier to knit. It's a Danish vid, but I'm sure you'll be able to tell what they're doing even if you don't speak the language. I don't either lol. Good luck! X
You did good . For everyone that didn’t get it when she said do 2 slip stitch. It’s actually a chain 2 because she’s crocheting a double crochet stitch.
Thank you for the detailed video..Something handmade and not store bought is so much more meaningful. I am gonna practice on cheaper yarn..Hopefully I can make a blanket as Beautiful as yours. TFS
I love this tutorial! I do have to point out, though, that those expensive chunky blankets that you showed are made out of Marino wool. It’s why they are so expensive. Blankets made with polyester or acrylic yarn (which is what they sell at Michael’s) are a lot cheaper to buy.
Omg I love this..I have been a crocheter for well over 32yrs and have yet made one of these lol and I have not use such a gigantic crochet hook lol omg I laughed so hard as you were showing it lol well I had bought some chunky chenille last Christmas and never got to making myself a blanket I have been wanting to do the finger knitting one so bad so I finally made or for time to finally make one and I love this was a Joanns today and had seen this exact yarn I picked it up and said no this isn't what I need lol after watching this video i now wish I would've put it in my cart uugh so back to Joanns I go lol well thank you for such a cute video I am definitely making this soon as I find me tht gigantic crochet hook thank you hope u have a great and safe new yr
Thank you for sharing! For someone who says she doesn't crochet, you did really well and even taught it well! The "slip knots" are technically known as "chains" in crochet but it was understood what you were doing. Is there any way you can add/edit the word "knit" in the title to "crochet"? Also to anyone wanting to do this and is concerned with cost, just know a good quality yarn costs more. Cheaply made = cheaper cost. Use coupons and save some money. Also know that knitting this will take less yarn than crocheting it. As far as hand washing, I imagine you will have to spot clean this or lay it out on the driveway or deck and wash with a hose in a similar way handmade rugs are washed. TH-cam that. As far as some commenters saying you can get it cheaper already made, I haven't seen that. Watch for dimensions of that blanket you're buying readymade and what it's made with. The old adage you get what you pay for is true. My final comment is about knotting those ends...leave a longer tail and weave the ends in. You don't want this unraveling after all that work. Or needle felt the ends in as another commenter suggested. As a crocheter there are other ways of joining the ends together rather than knotting which creates a stronger yarn-join than just a knot. I believe it's called a Russian join method.
I love these blankets and i can make them with my wrist or crochet needle but the wool yarn is costly and has a lot of fall out. Look at your black jeans while you are making this blanket. They are full of yarn. Thats holding me back from making one. Beautiful work and thank you for sharing.
She did say in the beginning she doesn’t crochet! So why question her on her stitches....shes trying, that’s all that matters. Ppl are not happy unless they are picking you apart smh🤦🏽♀️
I think if you're a beginner it may be helpful to use regular yarn (for practicing) and then try the big stuff. Or else you may get exhausted over the size alone
I saw another girl making a chunky blankets she did it different didn't use a needle and it really looked good I believe she used way less yarn then what u need for the way your making yours. I can tell u her channel if u would like to see , actually there two I've been watching . One girl used different yarn from Joanns I went and looked at it and it's super soft anywho just wanted to tell u. Idk how much u have looked into it. Thanks for the video
If you’re not signed up on Rakuten Ebates you should be. They have a list of places to shop. Michaels along with other craft stores are on the list. You would definitely save $$. Thanks for this video. I’m off to Michaels..😊
I was so excited when I saw this jumbo yarn during my last trip to Michael’s. I’m sad the one closest to me doesn’t have the other ones available. I think I’ll be buying them one skein at a time since I want to use coupons lol.
When you started the next row did you turn it. It was a little confusing. I use this on a different kind of yarn. But I could not get it right because I could not see how you turned it around is it around at the end.
That's what I was gonna think, Aliexpress sells things for cheap but you have to order things way ahead cause they take forever to get to your location.
Hi can you tell me how i can get this colour dusty blue the Michaels in montreal and other areas dont have any and i need three more like the one you are knitting any help would be greatly appreciated
It’s probably seasonal yarn 🤦♀️. Thank you for the tutorial 👍🏻! Get the Michael’s app for coupons and they will coupon match (for other non Michael exclusive merch).

Lost me at $200 on yarn.

You can totally DIY the yarn from fleece blankets! It’s easy and it both looks and feels great. I’ve made 3 of them myself 😘

The needle doesn’t look inappropriate at all. It looks like a huge crochet needle or toothbrush. Great video btw!
Hahaha good to know 😂😂😂
It looks like a D_ _ _ _
Surely didn't until she made it inappropriate 😊
OK maybe its just me

I kind of died inside when you didn’t use a coupon.
It's cause it was already on sale so I couldn't use one :(

That crochet hook is EPIC!
Who else noticed that the picture in the background was crooked? 😖
Genevieve Meza I didn’t but now I can’t stop looking at it. Damnit.
I did!!
yall at my michaels, each ball of yarn was under TEN DOLLARS!!
Tiny Toothpicks yup they’re on clearance
when she said “i know it looks like exactly what you think it looks like” i was thinking maui’s magical fish hook from moana
I enjoyed your video and the same idea I have about the blanket not hanging over the sides of the bed.

I think with one pack of wool u could make a couple of beautiful infinity chunky scarfs!! I just gave myself an idea
That,s whatbIndid. I'm so proud of my muffler. Ha!
She lost me after she past the edge slip knot 😅

for the places that you have knots, you can use a felting needle and felt them in, instead of having a knot there. ( i hope that makes sense)

This is exactly what I've wanted to do for a while 😍 I'm making my boyfriend one for his bday.
you explained this very well. Thank you.
ok i wanna do this so bad but sister is to poor to buy yarn
Landry Noel Walmart has cheaper stuff but it’s a smaller size and quantity
imani brantley Chenile yarn! You would need about 10 balls to make a decent size (:
And it’s only $6 if I’m not mistaking

That Blanket looks so soft😍
Really cool, nice blankets. I found some yarn too, It's like half that price for the yarn on Amazon. Gonna try to make one now.
What is that sweater you’re wearing in the intro?! It’s GORGEOUS! I love the sleeve detail!
Great vid! Can I ask, where did you get your cream pillows from?
That’s awesome! I wish I had time to knit.
I love the look of these giant blankets but I haven’t actually decided to buy/ make one because how the hell do you wash them?
you skipped a couple of seconds when you started the blanket and didnt explain what you did...
@Katherine Mark try slowing the speed down while she's doing the first part of the blanket... you can see what she's doing a little bit better
Katherine Mark chain how many you one and double crochet
It's a chain.
Katherine Mark you can go to a better tutorial

You are so pretty and talented!!
I’m starting to make these for my craft resale site. How much lbs/length in yarn do I need to make a king bed that’s used as the main comforter.
So beautiful love it
What do you guys think of washing then drying the yarn before working with it?
I saw yarn at micheals and it looked really thic and comfortable so idk maybe you could use that
My cat would love the yarn
I alwaysss wanted one of these but they are so expensive so I'll deff make my own!!
Okay, why are u so talented tho

How do you wash it without getting it ruined
"Trust me, it gets the job done." Ha ha ha ha Couldn't help but laugh.
Fantastic diy❣❣❣
I have a question. Do you have to do this particular stitch or can’t you use another one?
OMG THAT'S SO COOL
I’ve seen the big yarn selling in Wish app and Alliedxpress at really cheap prices. I wonder if it’s any good.

@@krupab8619 , what is it called on Aliexpress. I order die cuts from them. I have no problem waiting if the price is significantly cheaper.

Not too mention you cannot wash it. If you do you'll regret it. Try Joanne's and look for chunky t-shirt yarn. Lion's is a good brand. Like$6 a skeen

So comfy!!!
Anyone else thought Buffy the vampire slayer stake when they saw the giant crochet hook?
I just wish these type of blankets didn’t cost so much.
They actually fall apart in about a week and get disgusting since they’re made of roving which has no structure, be glad you don’t have one
can you do more videos like these!!
So beautiful! Thank you!
Where is your beautiful grey sweater from? Also this blanket is so so gorgeous
Loops and Threads is the name brand of Michaels.
I looooooove it, and i want one😍
Can you wash these? I mean, it looks heavy and bulky for a washing machine( depending on the yarn)
That's what I was wondering. How would you wash these, especially a queen or king size.
Right,I wonder if whn u wash it will it look matted 🤔
People say you cannot machine wash those blankets. You will have to hand wash it. Don't know how you're gonna do that with something that large.
Did you use a coupon?
What size Crochet Hook? You said 35mm... label and link is for 25mm? Which one please????
If you pause the video, she did indeed use a 35mm hook, but the yarn suggests 25mm, so either one would work!
I was wondering the same thing
Please tell me where I can find your sweater you are wearing in the intro and outro!!
