  • The 62TE is a six-speed version of the 41TE four-speed automatic. The additional gears are provided through the addition of a reduction unit referred to as the underdrive compounder assembly. Caution must be used when working with the assembly and all upgrades should be performed at the time of service. Mike walks through its disassembly step-by-step showing you everything you need to look out for as well as what to pay attention to for proper reassembly.

I like this gentleman. Very calm, very elaborate that even a layman can grasp this info. There is something about old men. Experience. I've learnt alot from him this day. Thanks.

for the sun gear snap ring it’s actually very simple (having done hundreds) i take a thin straight pick and get behind the ring near the split. then i use a thin 45/45 pick and use it to lift the ring out while rotating the ring and it pops right up

yes, this mans presentation is excellent - he mentions that the preload of the main drive gear bearing has caused whining problems - not enough preload or too much??? I have a whining problem with my 05 T&C that only occurs over 45 MPH

You have to take the piston out of the direct cluch under compression. If you remove the snap ring without compression the spring will unspring rather quickly.
Also in the low clutch when you put the top snap ring in to hold it all in you have to make sure the gap in the ring isnt within the area where the windows are in the low clutch drum. If you do it wrong this can cause the drum to, well come apart. We call it grenading. Its a fairly newly discovered problem.

Amazing details. I am troubleshooting my error codes P0732 (gear 2 incorrect ratio), P0735 (gear 5 incorrect ratio), and P0792 (ISS sensor) the transmission whine also. I am thinking to buy a complete compounder assembly & swap it. Since I am there I will probably change the solenoid packs & TCC. Any help or advise is much appreciated it.

I wonder what is more common - too much preload or not enough - of course , too much may ruin the bearings - true ?

I am trying to find out what engages the torque converter lock up clutch - I have watched many videos but not one completely explains what solenoid engages the direct drive clutch
