    It's crazy how these damn solenoids can make a strong transmission fail prematurely! Good explanation! 👍

    Good info here. Dave is such a great and very knowledgeable guy. Used to ask him for help every once in a while on an old EZTech forum.

    should there be a ball under the transmission fluid pressure sensor?
    One ball flew out, I didn’t see where it came from, but I saw a hole on the back of the transmission fluid pressure sensor and it looked very similar (to the place for the ball), so I installed it there. I'm not sure because of this the first gear is engaged for 2 seconds. and then it stops working. Reverse gear drives better.

    QUESTION; 62TE Transaxle, when warm gets stuck in 2nd gear . When cold it works fine but after approx 20min warmup during driving, won't up shift from 2nd . Please help. How do I contact Dave Gritsko?

    Not sure if I'll get a response, but it's worth a try. I'm working on a 62TE and I suspect the VFS. It's got codes for BOTH high pressure and low pressure. Metering the VFS reveals the spec should be 4.8-5.1 ohms, and this one reads 6.6 ohms. Do you think that information is enough to declare a diagnosis and replace the VFS?

    Can I take one of the individual solenoids out of another pack and replace it in the my own? Are all the NC "normally closed" solenoids the same in every pack? I only ask because there's a shop selling a used back with a bad Underdrive solenoid and they replaced the whole pack for the customer. I can save hundreds of dollars and a lot less work to simply take the cover off while in the car, and replace that one bad solenoid. As opposed to having to remove the whole valve body just to remove the whole pack...

    I have a 2012 journey w this transmission. i got it replaced last year and it just went out again this year. it started off as slipping in 6th gear and gradually reached the point where it doesn’t shift past 3rd. can solenoid pack cause the issue or gears are just gone?

    DAVE. i have a 2009 chrysler town and country with the 3.8 V-6 engine and the 62TE 6 speed automatic transmission. it just went into limp mode and threw the PO76A code SOLENOID H MALFUNCTION. the engine and trans has 210.000 miles on them. i just changed the trans fluid and filter. not the converter fluid. i have tried everything to try and get it out of limp mode. nothing worked. will changing the solenoid pack cure this issue ? any info would be appreciated. thank you.

  • @grawey77

    I like the 4 speed over the 6 speed. The 6 speed turned the 3.8L V6 into a dog in the vans from 2008 thru 2010. The 3.8L V6 was powerful with the 4 speed transmission in previous years and there is no fuel economy advantage from my personal experience with both. The 3.6L V6 handles the 6 speed better, but just imagine what the power would be like with the 4 speed. The solenoid pack was a more serviceable part on the 4 speed as well.

    • @kipamore
      @kipamore ปีที่แล้ว

      Stumbled on this comment. It's interesting. Your point is the 4 speed would have 1 less overdrive gear, thus more power?

    • @grawey77
      @grawey77 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kipamore The 6 speed may allow the engine to reach a higher top speed, but with in town driving it makes the 3.8L V6 engine a slug. The 4 speed was a better match for the 3.8L engines power and torque dynamic. The 3.6L is a higher revving engine so the 6 speed may be the best match for it, but maybe not. The 3.6L has never been mated to anything less than the 6 speed and now they are mated to 8 and 9 speed transmissions.

    • @kipamore

      @@grawey77 Fun fact: the 62TE is really just a 41TE with a compounder. It’s actually an 8 speed, but two of the ratios are so close the it’s programmed to use one going up and the other going down.
      Another fun fact: in the Promaster, users report that the new 9 speed NEVER shifts into 8th or 9th. Not surprising, since a 9500# van just isnt going to loaf along at 1400rpm.

    • @whatchalookin429
      @whatchalookin429 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a 2010 3.8 with the 62te, and have driven many vans with the 3.8 and even its little brother the 3.3 backed by the 41te and I totally agree with you. That 4 speed is just geared perfectly for those motors and the 6 speed besides shifting quick just doesnt have any advantages imo.

    I was wondering if there are symptoms that would help you determine which solenoid TCC or EPC is causing a problem while the transmission is still in the car. Thanks in advance.

    • @shariqimtiaz
      @shariqimtiaz ปีที่แล้ว

      I m also curious to know about the symptoms when we should replace EPC vs TCC. In another video it was mentioned that TCC symptoms are Engine trying to stall or causes vibration when coming to stop but more details should be available so we can address the real issue instead of making a guess..
      For an instance, my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan causes a little bit of jerk when I shift from "P" to "R" or "N" from "R", the problem is intermittent and I feel it harder when vehicle warms up. Vehicle drives smoothly otherwise so I believe it to be more of an electrical than mechanical problem but I couldn't find enough discussion on 62TE to isolate and fix the real issue

      Go to the dealer and get them to check for current PCM software version. There was a flash for this issue.
      I was a Chrysler tech for 5yrs.
      P0740 will usually set for TCC issues. Shudder will be felt.

    • @pacbdnabcde9203
      @pacbdnabcde9203 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are not junk as you say. Reason is very simple if you understand what AAMCO stand for "All Automatic Must Come out" and that is no joke that is what stands for it's the only way they can make money there is no money to be made by fixing and if you are lucky maybe you can fix problems sometime but have no way to know what condition is inside. I got lucky by replacing solenoid pack once and it did work for 3 years but now I am rebuilding my self the whole transmission it's not that hard at least not for me.
