  • There are many foods that will lower your testosterone, and these are the worst 7. Don't tank your testosterone by thoughtlessly eating too many of these foods.
The important things to remember are free and total testosterone, testosterone to estrogen ratio, and sex hormone binding globulin. In one way or another, these 7 foods muck up your T system and keep you from being the best you can be.

soy is deffinitely not that bad, it's bad if u eat it twice a day or more, phyto estrogens are sometimes estrogenic, sometimes they lower estrogen it's proven in countless studies, also milk tho, that's got mammalian hormones, much much worse.

Thank you for your input, I agreed on all the things you mentioned except for #2 and #8. Actually, just a matter of specification which is so important for people to understand. Only an excessive amount of sugar from fruits (fructose) does have an impact on lowering your testosterone, including refined sugars. We’re talking about eating up to 10 mangoes plus other fruits in a moderate rate in order for this effect to happen. Eating fruits moderately daily does not have any slight effect of lowering your testosterone, in fact, many fruits have too low amount of fructose to cause a slight impact on your testosterone.
We also need to discern between whole- vs refined grains. The prior is an optimal choice that is rich in fiber, while the latter is the one I guess you were talking about which does have a negative impact on not only testosterone itself, but your overall health. These refined grains (carbs) are those we know as white bread, especially white flour which is heavily used for bakery products, combined with refined sugars. Many pasta products also use white flour as the main ingredient, same for bread. There are however, whole grain alternatives like I mentioned, but it’s the popularity and common usage of pasta and grain products that contains these refined carbs that does have a negative impact on testosterone we’re talking about.

When I started carnivore diet exactly 2 years ago my serum testosterone level was 4, lower than my wife’s I think. The doctor told me it wasn’t important and not to worry about it. I took a follow up test 9 weeks into the diet and it was 13.
The difference this level change made to my life was incredible, every area of my life changed in a positive way except maybe how much body hair I was growing.
I took some really bad advice and started TRT to get it even higher, there were many positives but the negatives far outweighed it.
If I can give men some advice it would be that your test levels are about the most important part of you that you can look after, your diet will directly affect them, the carnivore diet is the very best way to positively improve serum testosterone naturally, along with some HIIT and weights and finally - never, ever, ever get on trt - don’t ever let a doctor (or anyone for that matter) inject synthetic hormones into your body.

Hi Dr Ken. I discovered the keto diet in early 2018 you were one of the first TH-cam teachers I gravitated towards. I’m 6’4” 57, I was doing great, lost 120 pounds in a year. Last October, while playing pickle ball, had a minor heart attack which led to a double bypass... I kind of lost my faith in the keto - (maybe I even blamed keto?)and I went back to eating grains and started drinking beer I gained 65 pounds (275-340) I am miserable, low energy, inflammation is back and it’s been a son of a bitch battle getting back on the keto train! Carbs are like heroine- highly addictive! Thanks for your ministry, I’ve recommitted to tuning in every day to your channel like I used too. Pray for recovery!

Mark Mather Did you ever get your calcium score? Most likely you had “the widow maker” from years and decades of consuming a lot of sugar and carbs (typical western diet). Then you lost a lot of weight on keto, which made you feel better and you became more active. Most likely keto saved you from having “the big one” and actually cleaned out some of the accumulated calcium in your arteries. Look up Ivor Cummins.

Pasta is my vice. I'm 62 and raised on a farm in Tennessee. When young we butchered all of our meat and raised all vegs to eat. The only products mom bought was some fruit, flour, corn meal, salt & pepper, coffee and tea.
I noticed after leaving for college then joining the military things started to change within my body. After listening to you for over a 1 year now I think I have the missing puzzle pieces.
Being an agricultural major with a lot of food production classes I know there is a lot of "stuff" we give to cattle, hogs and chickens that stimulate growth and crosses the bearer to humans. These GMO items added to our vegs, fruits, juices etc... has ruined the human race in the western civilizations. I'd bet underdeveloped countries do not have these issues growing there only food sources organically but another topic another day.
I'm going to try to get back to my days of young produce our own food sources and maybe get back to the old days + a few years! LOL

A couple of beers per day is NO PROBLEM. Your manboobs are likely just from way too much carbohydrate. Beer is not super high in carbs, just have them with dinner or excercise. Also, IPA’s are great. You want to steer clear of the typical swill (budmiloors) tho, because it’s just as high in alcohol, higher even that a lot of craft beers, taste like water, and people (who drink them) tend to pound them all day-that’s what they are designed for (“less filling”).

It did seem wrong to be going against what has been recommended over the last 40 years ie low fat, plant based diet etc but I have and see no downside. I was not aware of the implications regarding testosterone but let me say I have noticed the difference from pre keto to keto within my own body, My weight loss has also been significant and I am very comfortably well within my recommended BMI weight now. Good thing none of these broke my heart!
On a side note, earlier this year I had to cease consumption of protein drinks and bars (and fiber gummies). I became violently ill and through various testing with my diet, I concluded it was something particular with all these things: sucralose. For those curious, sucralose is an artificial sweetener that started off as sugar, then has had atoms removed and chlorine put in their stead. I was sick for over a month and when I finally cut all that out, I was fine.
I know this is a little off topic, but I thought to share this as another good reason to read your labels and do a little research. Well, I actually just read that there's evidence to suggest that chlorine reduces testosterone, but all the articles were talking about dermal absorption in pools. Maybe a smidge on topic.

5 years ago, I could no longer eat meat due to my body having inflammation ( note I haven’t eaten processed foods in many years) It was quite adjustment for myself. I have been able to introduce venison, organic chicken , fish and seafood . But I’m very strict on my consumption. Moving forward we married and now being under the same roof he wanted to change up from Keto to plantbase(lots of rice/grains!!! Some tofu And veggies). In the pass 5 months it was very noticeable that his testosterone levels have dropped to zero!!! We have talked about this openly and honestly.
    You hit on everything!!!
Change in his job stress but in a good way. But still stress. 4 days 12 hour shifts working ER nurse. We sold our home and fulltime RV life. Which we love!!!
We both suffered not having our regular workout daily routine … we have been back into since First of year. Although, he has been hit or miss cause lack of energy. He has stopped the beer…drank too much on his days off. I’ve continued my lifestyle and he can’t figure out why he is so tank! Now, I know…he needs to be back on keto for sure!
He has to make the decision to change what he can. Now, I have to change his meals, considering I’m the one who prepares all meals!!! Thank you so much for sharing this information on men.

Great video Dr Berry! I 'm graduating in med school and am going to be a physician in December! I follow you for a while now and am always learning awesome information!
Sad part now is about beer, damn I really like to drink on the weekends, but that combo "alcohol + grain" really made me think about it, haha! Wish you the best Doc!

I've you've graduated from a good med school, you'll know that not everything the dear doctor says is gospel. You'll also know that some of the things he says (the body being unable to distinguish between glucose and fructose, e.g.) is plain wrong.
Bottom line: the ketogenic diet he espouses is definitely better than the average American diet, but the average American diet is bullshit and no yardstick for attaining good health. The people who live longest on this earth are the French, Italians, Japanese and South Koreans and they all incorporate carbohydrates into their diets. They also eat good food, not processed shite.

I’ve asked for the references on soy. Ive never seen a rigorous study linking soy to lowering testosterone. All show no effect to such a small difference that it is within the margin of error

    • @davesmith826
      @davesmith826 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@CommanderRiker0 Interesting. From what I gather it's the phytoestrogens that people blame, but a *lot* of foods contain them and eating them does not in itself lower testosterone. Berry is suffering from a severe case of confirmation bias.

Just dumped the teriyaki sauce and orange juice from the fridge down the drain. Current weight 260. Planning to switch from vodka/oj to scotch/water when drinking. Adding heavy weights will be great, but need to think out and work my way back (over 52 years old now) to sprinting. Thanks Ken!

Man... the cooking oil caught me off guard. I like cooking my steaks in oil and butter, but may need to reconsider. Also, from a different video, the xeno-estrogens from plastics. Frightening how little I knew about that
When you look back on the last +30 years with the rise of plastic use, carbohydrates and soy (tofu) in our diets, it’s no wonder men are becoming more and more feminine... and (a topic for another time) gender confused. We need to take back our diets, and take back our masculinity!
Great video. Keep up the great work

There's nothing wrong with cooking your steaks in butter and oils like avocado, coconut, lard, tallow. He's talking about "vegetable oils" like soybean, corn, canola, grapeseed. Stay away from those!

I love pasta! Unfortunately, I always found that I was hungry again within a few hours. This is what I make to give me that wonderful Italian taste.
You may have heard of taco salads...well, I make a spaghetti sauce version of this. I make a huge salad that I top with an oil and vinegar dressing. Then, I pour my home made spaghetti sauce over top. Sounds weird but, to me, it’s delicious!
