@immortallis2365 i bought a 20 Tundra with the v8. If Toyota had offered a v8 in the Tacoma, the world would be perfect. The v8 is excellent for towing. My 13 Tacoma worked hard towing our RV. The Tundra with the 5.7 doesn't care one bit about an rv. It just has gobs of power.
For the money I’d have the ranger raptor, and even the zr2 and/or at4x over this. However, that being said…, I would never pay these insane prices for these midsize trucks.
@ what does Trump have to do with truck prices? If you’re talking tariffs those increase prices. Even “domestic” automakers use Chinese parts or build in Mexico.

@atg1338 I own a 24' Tacoma Limited. I regret that purchase every flippin day, now. It's not the motor or transmission. It runs fine! My problem is that I live in a state that oil and chips roads. My vehicle is all chipped up! My rear fender flares look like shit. Toyota's PFF is garbage! My 17' F-150 got 23 mpg, the Toyota 4-banger gets 20.5. Toyota didn't do shit about the paint chips. Other than a price to have it fixed! So, I went to the salesman who sold me the truck. He went to the sales manager. Who were both aware of the problem. They said they would go back and talk to the Toyota Rep. for me. I said, "Nah, I'll have it fixed myself. But I did ask for 6 quarts of Pennzoil motor oil and oil filter." This spring I'm hoping Ford has leftover F-150 XlTs with the 2.7 ecoboost and I'll trade the Tacoma in. With probably under 2K on the damn thing. A real review from a real 24' Tacoma Limited owner. BTW, the title is in the glove box, too.......
Luv your channel but I did not watch this Tacoma video I’m only commenting to express since I bought and new 22’ Tundra and thoroughly realize the thrift of modern Toyotas. I’m still waiting for my new engine and Toyota won’t see me in their show room anytime soon over paying for epic management failure.
I love my 3rd gen... this has a long way to go before it impresses me. I've modified my 3rd gen, and I use it. I haul, I tow, I offroad... I want simplicity and reliability first and foremost. I regularly leave cell reception. I bought my Toyota for long-term reliability.
A basic truck for under $25,000 is what people could use. Doesn't need to be fast or be an off-road pro. The auto makers have forgotten the basic truck buyer, while thinking everyone doesn't mind spending huge money for a truck.
I'm not a serious off-roader! So, I wouldn't pick the new TRD PRO even if it was priced the same as the Ranger Raptor. You're talking $10K to $14K difference. Hell, I'm regretting buying the 24' Tacoma Limited. I think this spring I'm going to trade it in for an F-150 XLT. I was getting 23 mpg in my 17' F-150 2.7 ecoboost. 20.5 in this turbo Toyota four-banger. Plus, there was more room, more payload, and more towing. Serves me right for trying to downsize. Baby trucks suck!
Little trucks are fine for many peoples’ purposes, but basically it boils down to they’re easier to park. Also, my 4’10” wife will drive a smaller truck but refuses to drive a bigger one, so perhaps they’re also a bit easier to drive.. They have less capability, and there’s little, if any, improvement in fuel economy (or in purchasing cost).
It's funny hearing that this new truck is more refined and quieter. Many reviews from actual use of this truck say how it feels more plastic parts, noisy from creacking and cheaply made. Not to mention all the transmission issues being reported. If this is what the new 4runner is like it's not looking good.
I sold my 2017 tacoma sr5 for a 2022 pro 4x frontier and only thing I don't like is it needs a lift. Love the new frontier. Sad Toyota abandoned it's fans
I fallow both of you guys and both of you produce good content. But at the same time I believe both of you have the obligation to mention the issues that we, 80% of your audience, can’t afford the most of the cars that you review. I hope you’re not part of an agenda that is trying to push expensive vehicles on us.
How is it every time? I go back to look at a newer model year truck which I don’t do too often within one or two days you guys are reviewing it. Makes me feel like I live in a simulation lol Being accepting of new trends, technologies in styling (AND INFLATION!), I feel this Tacoma price wise is comparable in the market. If you need it cheaper, go buy a Nissan.
If Toyota would offer the TRD Pro without the gimmicky front seats and at a significantly lower price, ir would have made it a game changer in terms of sales.
Two worst trucks to date. New tacoma and tundra. They went from bulletproof to ceo greed and profits. Surprised how junky these new trucks are. If you have their previous models i would hold on to cause they will be worth a fortune in a few years.
Slightly better gas mileage than the V6 with ten times the complexity and pice of the V6. How about they make the I4 turbo hybrid an option. 80 grand😮 F that.
Fake engine noise? Really? What a waste of R&D time and money! If you’re racing the Baja 1000, maybe that seat would be helpful. Don’t even make it an option but an accessory you can order from the parts department. I’ll bet they lose sales of the TRD Pro over that alone. The back seat is useless with it and and the truck would be several hundred dollars cheaper without it. Put the money into better front shock towers that don’t break! I’ve seen a lot of Tacomas on the road. It’s a really good looking truck. I’m not a turbo hater and that flat torque curve is just what the Tacoma needed. Hopefully it will be as reliable as the third gen. I just turned 100,000 miles on my 2020 with zero problems. I probably tow with it 6000 miles a year.

It has never been about a V8. It has always been about quality and politics is not going to change this. For those who keep their Tacomas 200k-300k miles, I’m not interested in rebuilding a turbo a few times before I sell it. I will keep my 2021 TRD Pro.
Nope, probably not, especially now with the lawsuits on the transmission and Toyota still doing nothing to ease the fears. I wouldn't touch this truck unless it was given to my for free.
Not everyone thinks the v6 was better. I woildnt consider the v6 trucks. The turbo 4s have much better torque, hp (esp at altitude). The v6 in the toyota sounded terrible as well. I hated when people put exhaust on them. You also had to really ring them out and put your foot in it when it was loaded at all, or trying to go up hills at speed. In the mountain west, it isnt a good experience.
Firstly, Steve you lost all credibility when you said that you were not a fan of 3.5 V6. The 3.5 V6 will outlast any of these new garbage Turbo Hybrid. I have serious doubts that a turbo engine will last as long as a v6. I still think the 2nd gen with the 4 litre v6 was the best.

Yeah, Raptor and ZR2s are downright bargains compared to this.
Self-destructing front diff too! And the only way for the manual to work is with a depowered engine. It's a fantastically flawed offering. Cheers TK.
I prefer what Nissan did. New body, tweaked V-6 instead of Toyota going 4 cylinder at a massive markup.
Nissan will have to change in 2027, unless trump changes this
