  • This bike has shocked me at how good it is, i was ready to dismiss this as an uninspiring what could have been type of bike, but i was overwhelmed at who much i enjoyed riding this bike. if i was going to do a long overland trip, this would be top of my list . watch the video to find out more.

    Passed my DAS in December 23. I bought this bike brand new for my first bike. Did my DAS on the Yamaya NT07I’m 6ft 2 19 stone. This bike is very comfortable, sounds great, plenty of torque and fast enough for me as a new rider. I’ve done 1300 miles and loving it. Approximately £20 to fill her up. Brand new bike, heated grips, wing deflection, main stand, black smoked screen and 12v attachment for £7,200. Great on the motorways, around town and twisty roads. It’s very comfortable and I did my first big ride from Manchester to Whitby in one go and felt fine doing it on this bike. If you are new to riding or experienced rider this is a great bike. It’s not going to pull your arms out your socket but personally I prefer comfort to speed. The tft screen is fantastic in all weather conditions. Very smooth clutch and bright led lights all around. Double disk break that gives you that confidence in breaking. .
    Overall great bike, fun and feels well balanced on all roads. Can’t wait for spring /summer.

    Its basically a CB500X with a redesigned fairing and change of dash & switchgear. I had a CB5X, bought new in 19 and it is a great engine that feels like it has more than its 48bhp spec. They're also brilliant on fuel like the NC and can easily give 80+ mpg. These bikes also feel quite light. This p twin engine has also proved bulletproof reliable.
    After having mine for 3 years i wanted something a bit more substantial and with more ponies for longer rides. So i chopped it in for a 650 V Strom. But i do miss how light the CB5X felt.

    • @hair2050
      @hair2050 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have the 650 VStrom, brand new. I live in Australia on a farm, mixed riding. Today I went to town, shortcut through the bush. Mud holes and a couple of small logs, which I took at a considerable pace. Really flew into and over them. The wheels on the xt are very solid, I wouldn’t dare do that on the less robust Honda. The cb 500x was however my second choice. They are both delightful bikes and I might swap one day. As for longer rides, last week I rode to Sydney, 99% motorway. The VStrom blasted it with ease. 900km over two days, there and back again. Either bike would have done it just fine, the strom can for obvious reasons carry a pillion or luggage far more easily however.

      @moto-jeff 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@hair2050 What the Honda has in its favour is its not only lighter but feels even lighter than its spec weight. But the Stroms are great bikes and suit my riding perfectly. I've had a gen 1 and now have the gen 3.

      I'm going the other way, trading my Vstrom which I've had for a month and done 1500 miles and I dislike it. Too tall, too heavy, not great in town but excellent on Motorways which i don't do enough of so it's going for a NX.

    • @Billhock379

      Agree. Had a 2013 CB500x for 7 years and loved it. Traded upto a vstrom 650xt and while I really like how it handles it's a bit big and heavy. Will probably get a NX when they come to Australia.

    I have the new NX500. The reason is the price and specifications for ADV bike is superb. The reason that i chose his bike is because it’s not too big.😂 Because i’m 5’7 Asian. And this is my 1st bigbike ever. Not too powerful but also not lacking in power. Also, respectable fuel consumption. I was considering the Transalp 750 but it’s wayyyy too big and too powerful. Maybe in the next 5-7 years i’ll upgrade to a 650 or 750 even 850. But NX-500 is a good bike. But the stocks tires are not impressive. And the hot air coming out from the engine when riding is something. Not too hot. But still mind boggling.

I am now a CB500X/NX500 fan after riding my mates CB500X the other week, and will hopefully be looking to buy one, to run alongside my RE Classic 350……but which to go for ? Is there an advantage of having two 2 piston brake calipers on dual rotors as opposed to one 4 piston caliper on a single rotor?

    • @theartisanrider472
      @theartisanrider472  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hi roberto, interesting question, my thoughts are this. if you had a four piston caliper, the unit would probably either need to be larger plus a larger disc or a very compact unit with small pistons. im also not sure that it would be easy to maintin a good linear pressure on all 4 pistons unless you fitted a servo. it might be expensive to make, when you already have very good off the shelf 2 pots. its also possible that you might get some kind of drag to one side, a bit like counter steering{thats just a random thought.} be intereted to her others thoughts. the obvious one being cost though.

    • @pielight7449
      @pielight7449 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The physics dictate the twin disc as being superior, i.e. more disc surface area to dissipate heat (braking is the process of converting kinetic energy to heat energy and dissipating it onto the atmosphere). At the end of the day though, there is the limitation of grip between the tyre and road (not to mention stoppies throwing you over the handle bars) so depending on weight of bike, tyre contact area etc etc, a single disc may give all the braking power possible before those other limitations are met.
