    I have the same model and colour. Love at first sight and after 18 months that love still hasn't waned. With all the conventional mods and then some, it's all the bike I want it to be. Living in the far SW of Ireland, it's great for plodding down the local single track roads, many with grass up the middle, but - with sporty Mitas MC50 tyres mounted, it is also thoroughly engaging when pushed hard down some of the twisty B roads in the area. My poor old '07 650 V-Strom hardly got a look in over the period. Mods: tall RE crash bars, cheap no name side racks and a really nice and well build rear rack also from India, DNA stage 2, FuelX, and, unusually, a stainless steel decat pipe and 9" hooligan end can (Delkevic) that - although very loud - is not obnoxious and just enhances the sound of what is otherwise a small, long-stroke single in a low state of tune. The air filter and exhaust have each improved performance significantly, whilst also improving fuel economy (if I'm not caning it). And finally, a 16t front sprocket to give it slightly longer legs (at the cost of some of the gained performance). The stainless steel exhaust has different lines to the original and changes appearances significantly, doing away with the resto-mod styling and making the bike look altogether more old school. With no Images or video to be found in Google-Land, I took a risk buying the exhaust, as I hadn't a clue what it would sound like, nor if I'd like the looks, but, happy to say, I'm thoroughly delighted with both aspects. I'm no youtuber and a complete video novice, but lack of information on the exhaust motivated me to post a couple of videos on my own TH-cam channel to fill in the void. An acquaintance joked that she thinks this will be my 'forever bike' 😇

    I've had mine since March, I put in 6000km so far. I bought it mainly for the look and affordability, reading reviews and opinions online got me a bit worried about performance and weight (as it is my first bike I really cannot compare) however so far there has never been a real life situation in which I felt unsafe or unable to keep up with traffic.

    Wow! Great bike! I remember taking one on a test ride in 93, I had a Pantah 600 (still do) and immediately put the front wheel up in the air and nearly got kicked off the test ride. I do remember that the retail price was higher than the CBR900. I think it was around $8500 which ironically was about the same price in the states as the F1 750 biposto a few years earlier.

      I tried Metzler Karoo Streets on mine. I thought the scrambler look would be cool, but overall, I never really took to them. They gave me no confidence in the slippery stuff, gave minor slips at lean even on the best tarmac, didn't last very long, and the rear was squirrelly at end of life. Wanting a drastic change, I went for sporty tyres and chose Mitas MC50s. A diagonal sports tyre designed for small bikes with both commuting and bad weather in mind. They really stick to the road and - unlike the Karoo Streets - give excellent feedback. They are also better over loose chippings than the Karoos. A wonderful, confidence inspiring tyre that I will be buying again. I haven't tried them in the rain, but then again, at 68, I am at leisure to avoid the rain as best I can.

  • @davebarclay4429
    @davebarclay4429 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I test rode the Hunter and liked it in most respects. However I couldn't live with the ride quality which I found way too harsh on anything other than a perfect road surface. I'm hoping to have a ride on the Guerrilla in the next couple of weeks. The 452cc engine solves the J platform's lack of power and if the ride quality is better than the Hunter (I find it hard to imagine it being worse!) I'll probably do a deal.

  • @brahnseer3512
    @brahnseer3512 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I have this bike in the same colour. I agree with your assessment, except that I find the rear suspension too harsh, especially for my old bones (the wrong side of 70). I replaced them with Hagon shocks but still not soft enough for me. Perhaps I’ll change the bike for the new 650 Classic?

    • @alexugur
      @alexugur วันที่ผ่านมา

      I got the Hagon progressives fitted when I bought the bike and I found they sorted out my initial gripe with the originals. However, no shock can mitigate the appalling roads we have in SW of Ireland. If I remain seated, the Hagons can bottom out. Even my 650 V-Strom hammers my spine over the worst of the roads, regardless of how I tweak the suspension. For the V-Strom, I recently found that lowering tyre pressures by 4psi front and rear made the most profound difference, a huge improvement in comfort without any significant losses in road holding. As for the tiny Hunter, reducing tyre pressure has improved matters somewhat (-4psi Front, -2psi rear), but lifting my bum off the saddle for the worst of the bumps is the only real solution: then I can take the bumps and the subsidence undulations at any speed and any angle of lean that I'm comfortable with. At the age of 68 I'm suddenly growing much stronger calf and thigh muscles again 😁

    Royal Enfield has its roots in a British arms manufacturer -- you may have heard of the Lee Enfield rifle. The same goes for the old BSA company; that stood for British Small Arms. That's why most of their bikes have a name that references soldiering or arms.

    If you are military or veteran £220 discount I am that older rider Triumph are trying to make hay, now with the RE a direct competitor a discount should be available or some incentive. Bike lacks centre stand, bobbin mounts, and chain access is poor, my creen took 5 months to arrive after delivery so poor effort and other accessories like heated grips slow to become available. I do like the long servicing intervals and it's pretty nice to ride overall despite a bit of jerkiness on and off throttle and very optomistic speedo and mpg.

    Morning. I did my own YT review, and within 12 minutes 44 seconds, I just knew I needed a Guerrilla in my life. So bought one, and now running in. The ever so slightly lumpy tickover, is no worse than a Honda CRF250L I used to own, nor any other big singles. Admittedly the “urgency” at low speeds, or when pulling away, is just something to get used to, it is definitely keen to get going. The ride by wire throttle, seems a bit over sensitive, when jumping from a cable throttle, but again, it’s something to get used to. I see you noticed the bum rest on the seat 😂, that’s a handy design to prevent you sliding backwards under hard acceleration 😈. Probably like yourself, I get to ride a few very good bikes, but the Guerrilla is the only one in recent times, that has grabbed me enough to buy one. You just have to make sure you are in the right gear for the circumstances, or it will bog down, due to the revvy nature. Purists hate it, but I congratulate RE for moving forward. I do still have my Classic 350 too 😉. All the best.

  • @jonathandeeley6276
    @jonathandeeley6276 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The Guerilla is a do it all Roadster. In my view its far better than the Triumph Speed 400 particularly in the build quality department and particularly all the issues Triumph are having with the 400 range. Yes, the idle speed is lumpy and could do with sorting. The fly by wire throttle takes some getting used to but once mastered is fine. For the price of the Guerilla, the build quality and the thought that has gone into the bikes development there isn't anything to touch it currently. Don't forget this bike has been under development for the last 5 years and was developed alongside the Himalayan and is not a stripped back Himmi from the same parts bin. The Hunter is a great bike and I've been tempted by one but as a six footer it feels to physically small, I do love the styling and simplicity of it though. Ive had 3 Classic 350s and 3 Meteor 350s and traded the Classic in for a Guerilla and still have the Meteor as well. That J series engine is a peach as most people will agree. So far I'm loving the Guerilla having covered around 600 miles. I think if anything the Guerilla will make a big dent in the Interceptor market being a lot lighter with similar performance and at a cheaper price.🙂👍

    • @theartisanrider472
      @theartisanrider472 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The new model's seat height is .6 inches higher.

    I like that motorcycle. I would like to have it, but it's not a problem in money, it's a problem in the height of the seat and my height. I'm 198cm tall and that bike is too short for me. Why didn't Honda's engineers make it possible for tall drivers as well? I am very afraid of leg shortening surgery😀

      hi, you can fit shorter dog bones to the rear shock mounts to lift the bike, i did this with my DCT version i had. you can go a good 2-4 inches but it does make the bike steer quicker due to the change in geometry. but it is straightforward swap , which is pretty easy to do if you have a centre stand.

    I'm sorry, forgive my rudeness, but it looks, sounds, and go's like an utter piece of shit, pardon my French. I consider my self a real bike rider, and would rather never ride a bike again rather than cock my leg over an electric thing. Good video though.
