Special individual characteristics would be: Addict - must get amphetamine from traders and consume it regularly, increase consumption with time in zone(same with alcohol and cigs). Will do the most daring moves in all firefights, goes into anomaly fields with minimum protection, also may die quickly; Carnivore sadist - next meal is fresh meat. Is it snork? is it Pseudogiant? Doesn't matter. You'll fry it on the campfire or eat it whatever way. You like seeing other flesh suffer, no matter the reason. In gunfight always finish off people brutally by spending additional ammo to ensure enemy is suffering, shoot legs slowly with low caliber bullets, knife wounded people, etc; Pacifist - Minimum violence long walking bypassing security to get work done. Prefers artifacts and alternative ways of enrichment opposed to killing. Will injure mutants and run away from them to not kill. Would be hard to justify visiting enemy bases or labs, or play as minimum force to justify. It might be very boring, but will provoke a lot of thinking and planning; Dominator - goal of existence is killing most other creatures. You're the most advanced alpha being, nobody can match your skills. Since previous life experience was shit, you want revenge. You've trained the whole life to become the best assassin of every other creature in the zone. After figuring that shooting against police or army in civil world is too unfair... You use the zone as your tool for killing. Don't care much about material possessions of civilization, because it's skill and determination only that really matter in the end. Disguises into all factions to kill their members, the more the better. Also earns by contract killing, not for money, but for sport. Sincerely believing something like satanism. Scavenger master - you tinker everything yourself, know every aspect of gear and use it to advantage. Always go overprepared for anything. Have fully upgraded top suit for CNPP raid, same with weapons. Can be combined with other personalities. Gourmet - always buy the best food, have excellent sense of taste. Using the most basic gear, but will always try to eat like elite troops. Believing food is an investment in performance. Can be combined. There may be more unique personalities, not only differed by brutality or consumption. Write your ideas too!
As a first time Gamma player, I'm enjoying the difficult survival atmosphere, there are so many enemies and situations that have you on the edge of your seat.
This is honestly a good idea for a video. I do the same patterns as you seemingly, I just have my moments of "hmm today I'll play some S.T.A.L.K.E.R" and make a new ironman character then just play till death. When I die, I just take a however long break then repeat the cycle. Deaths like you incurred are just such as life in the Zone. My biggest killers though is running into electro anomalies. Those zap the life out of me everytime. Usually happens because anomalies can shuffle when you load safes or I'm running from gunfire unaware of the feint beeping.
It's quite fascinating that without restriction, we don't learn anything. There has to be some actual cost for not doing things correctly in order to force us to work out how to do things correctly. With panic, I think it can help with certain tasks like aiming, but it's cancer in terms of actually considering a problem and how best to solve it.

I lost one ironman run in Rostok too. I played Merc and had very decent gear, was almost ready to go to radar. I went there disguised to assasinate a target but all went south and I got pinned down in the bar. I lasted there for a while but was almost out of ammo, only had some sniper rounds and .45 fmj for my pistol. When I thought they all died (even the dude in nosorog from southern enterence) I went to loot a bit and one guy sneaked up on me and with the pistol I could not kill him in time.
I love, but simultaneously hate ironman mode. On one hand, I love the thrill of knowing you could die at any moment and lose all your progress which makes you feel much more immersed as if you were actually fearing for your life in the zone. On the other hand, actually dying sucks. Like, really sucks. But I'm addicted to ironman mode now so I don't think I'm going back to normal regardless. Bring on the pain.
We do not want to see you die, but even the attemp to see that someone wants to play this brutal survial-horror in ironman (and failing) is just entertaining^^ In what difficulty to you play?

Played my first iron man run. Started as a loner. Hunted 8 fleshes, a few cats and dogs and a coupla bandits. As I was walking my happy ass back to Rookie village to turn in my goods and quests I got zapped by an electric anomaly. Probably gonna wait awhile before I do something like that again.
I just went throught the painstaking tedious new requirements to update GAMMA modpack. I already hate myself rn. Got stuck trying to do a sinple samples quest in Yantar, but couldn't because no quality anti-toxic gear. Now I can't get to Army Warehouses because the random Radiation zones that populate pretty much blanket the Wild Territory path so I can buy more .45 ACP Hydro Shock and .45 AP. I did however find a "Heart" Artifavt early on that is my one and only crutch. playing as Military, btw.
After a thousand hours i still dread the surprise Gauss, or the surprise suicidal infinite ammo trigger happy RPG who just happened to wait in silence around the corner while all his Monolith buddies already died
You probably would mess second attempt anyway eith that last nade throw, because there is 2 loners standing i side that room? (1 that give arena quests and his bodyguard)

Im terrible at Gamma and most of the time I can barely get out of Cordon and if I do I have a shitty gun, no meds, no ammo, etc. But watching someone who is actually good and experienced at the game also suffering makes me feel a lot better and makes me want to try harder at finally conquering Gamma. Im getting better with every run and the one Im currently on is by far my best run which still doesnt mean its good by any means but its stable.
I generally try not to tinker too much with GAMMA as you'll run into conflicts and break the game very easily by adding new mods. My advice is to check the discord, there might be workaround already explained there, and people are gonna me much more knowledgeable than me anyway :)
In gamma you can combine artifacts to make better tier 2 and then combine tier 2 to make tier 3 , you can also repair them, its much better. However, they are easy to find and cheap
It's been the most embarrassing deaths to watch! Healing in a 5m firefight behind a steel barrel?? Sneaking with a sniper rifle up front? Acting badass at the end is deserved death too. Also it wasn't zombie that killed you, but a duty member from behind! So never use buddies, they're too dumb. In cases except the last death there were a lot of chances really. In the next to last one you should have bought head armor, knowing you will be facing enemies that one shot in a head with rifle.
This video is best evidence for "overkill strategy", cause in this game NO-THI-NG IS BETTER ENOUGH. But seriously, dude, why you use all that plates and other craftible stuff, when artifacts are so much better, AND protects your head from VYKHLOPING it from you?)
I make a save everytime i start/stop a playing session, with the timestamps its pretty easy to see how much time you spent on a run. In-game days counted in the PDA can give you a rough estimate too if you convert to "real hours". I say rough estimate because it includes the time spent sleeping.

No they're real, it can just be hard to find the package sometimes (there's an artefact that makes the package shine at night which helps a lot).

I always destroy the Duty checkpoint in Rostock using granades. 3 or 4 F1s thrown over the wall solve all the problems ;)
