    Dobyns Rods are great rods; I have two models made for using Big Swimbaits. I think you will like using the one you have. Long rods work great, they just are difficult to transport and store.

      pretty happy with this one so far! i have no problems transporting this one right now. at least in my car that is. but i ride solo, i can see that if i take a fishing buddy with me.. accidents may happen... But my frogging rods are 7'6" and so far no problems yet :)
      On the side note, what sort of big swimbaits do you throw?

    Jimbo,
    1/16 and 1/8 lures have caught some of my largest bass both small mouth and large mouth out of a very large reservoir. I like all of your recommendations especially the Jika rig, like you I make my own in very light weights, in fact my two largest bass came on light weight Jika’s. This rod seems perfect, def on my wish list.

      I think 1/16th oz is also something i use mostly for all my fishing. none of my waters are deep, so it's usually light tackle! I think this would be a fun rod for everyone who loves bass fishing with finesse lures :) glad you love the jika! I hardly portray it enough since I feel that most of my super fishing spots could get exposed lol! but i'll be hitting up some smallie streams with the jika this year and hope to bring jika rig back into the limelight!

    • @rawrfishing

      Solid tips are more softer/flexible. good for presentation where you don't wanna rip a lure out of a fish mouth or if they hit a lure and you don't want them to feel the tension. hollow/tubular are stiffer and more sensitive. great for the bottom contact fishing and hooksets

    Its Your line Dude!...line makes a huge difference throwing lite stuff with a Bait caster
    With a Light Medium Lite rod that's true fast action you have to adjust your cast to load the tip, not try to have a lite lure load up more of the rod if that makes any sense. but that lines trash dude...lol
    different braking systems, rod action/power/taper, line, air resistance of whats cast all make more of a difference the lower in weight you go.
    Thanks for the preview I have a 7' model coming. Going to use it for neds, larger tube jigs, swim baits and smaller chatter and spinner baits from my yak.
    keep the vids coming dude. making my winter more bearable!

  • @RonMTube
    @RonMTube 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Have always found the Aldebaran's sweet spot to be from 4 to 4.25 on the brakes. The rod looks to be a true BFS rod, in other words a finesse bass rod. Unfortunately it's hard to see the bend when filmed with the wide angle of a GoPro.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      my sweet spot is 3.75 to 4 with the extra magnets on. I think if i do soft short range casting with no whipping, i can cast it at 3 or even 2.5 via side casting. very awesome reel! Yes it's a true BFS rod indeed! But I am more of a panfish/trout BFS angler. so this new rod gonna change the way i fish this season! I think i'll definitely go back to some more bass fishing. leave the snakeheads alone for a while ya? lol

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh cool man! Hmm.. well it really depends on what u planning to throw. A BFS reel can behave totally different with a different rod or even line! So let's start with what you wanna throw. Believe me, you will later buy several BFS rods and Reels to cover all your techniques lol. I bring 2 BFS rods on my kayak plus one bigger rod for heavy cover. one UL BFS and more of a Bass L tackle bfs. so yeah let's figure which one will work best for you! tell me what are planning to fish for mainly and what weight lures

    • @LeandroSantos-bt1lg
      @LeandroSantos-bt1lg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rawrfishing Thanks. I fish mostly for pan fish and bass in small ponds. So I would be throwing a rocket bobber with small ice fishing jigs, 3 inch weightless senkos, 1/8 oz jigheads with a 2.5 inch paddle tail swimbait, drop shots, neko rigs, etc...

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so if your going to throw things at 3 grams and up, I think the sierra might be over kill for the panfish. bass would definitely be better, especially with weedless lures, but that is a huge difference in price between that and the BPS rod. if this is your first setup, i think you should get the BPS. it will encompass everything you are doing. You would be limiting to yourself with a high end rod as those are more technique specific, at least that's how i view my sierra vs my other rods. Cheeers and welcome to BFS fishing!

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Double Down is a ML rod that have a moderate bend. Good for open hooks and trebles. It won't go down to 1/80th, but can still throw 1/16th Oz, which is insane. The suf 691 is a fast tip rod. So depending on the lures you use, definitely two different rods for different techniques

      It's more of a bass bfs. Bfs is pretty broad. Just a fancy term from shimano for finesse BC reels. This is more of a bass bfs rod than trout. Do you think this rod and reel would be good for lighter multi-species? I do a lot of creek fishing and I don't really focus on any particular fish. If it bites, I'm happy to catch it. I throw 1/16oz a lot, but I'd also like the capability to throw 1/32oz jigs and soft plastics. I've read that the Sierra BFS does a good job even with lures below the 1gram rating, but it would be an expensive purchase to be disappointed with.
    I'm also on the fence between the Alphas Air and the Aldebaran. What would you suggest? I throw jigs and plastics as much as I throw small chatterbaits and jerkbaits. Thanks!

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think this specific one is good for that as it's too stiff and long. This is more of a bass UL rod, American style. I would shoot for the Tsurinoya Dragon. Whether it's the Dragon or dragon 2, the rods are gonna suit you better. The Dragon 2 are stiffer and not a replacement of 1.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      In regards to reels, I have been a major fan of the alphas air tw or the gekkabijin. I am assuming the Chatterbait Flashback Mini 1/16 or 1/8th Oz?

    • @DanielSmith_19
      @DanielSmith_19 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rawrfishing Yes, I really love the flashback in 1/16oz. I looked at the Dragon rods but I saw them rated for something like 2grams on the low end. I know that with a soft plastic, a 1/32oz bait comes out to more like 1/20 or something like that, but that's still at around a gram. I was strongly considering the Dexterity II but I feel like I'd enjoy a rod with just a tad more backbone.
