  • I picked up the Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse BFS Rod and wanted to show you my initial impressions. Make sure to subscribe and stay tuned for spring when I bend it on some bass!
    As many of you know, I have become a big fan of Bait Finesse System (BFS) this year. Any time I can use light line and gear, you know I will be a fan. I guess that is why I fell in love with it! This rod will fit into my arsenal quite well. I sold my old Shimano Sensilite with my Fishband GH100 to Dave, a member of Team Dink, so he can start fishing BFS as well.
    Check Out This Rod Here: discounttackle...
    Overall, my first impressions of this rod are very good. I believe it is going to be able to do exactly what I want it to do: cast Ned Rigs and other small bass baits in the 1/16-3/16oz range. It is super light so it will be very comfortable to fish with all day (especially paired with my Shimano Aldebaran 12 BFS XG). Crazy to me how it features 16 total guides... Never seen anything like that before!

      @@FishAnything the problem with BC rods is that the guides are up, but the line gets pulled downwards. this creates a twist onto the rod. having more guides iwll help distribute that twist. Better yet, they should make a spiral wrapped rod instead. could have used a lot less guides and probably dropped it by 10 dollars LOL

    Seems a nice rod, and your evaluations are always honest and insightful, but I'm wondering if this new BFS fishing really isn't any different than using a good spin-cast outfit, particularly if fishing for panfish, small to moderate bass, etc. Your thoughts?

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely think BFS is a very solid system and adds value to anglers. That being said, I think it only adds value to a small group of niche anglers to be honest.
      Fishing in tight quarters with lots of cover while still needing to toss small lures is where I think BFS actually is necessary. Otherwise, I feel spinning will perform just as good. Basically, I think BFS is great for trout and small creek fishing applications.

    • @jaysfishandwhips1328
      @jaysfishandwhips1328 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct. I use a h2o 5'6" that is more for power BFS. I paid 30 bucks for it and I pair it with a black knight BFS reel that I upgraded the bearings in to full ceramic BFS type that come with purple anodized cover. I prefer these over the orange ceramics it came with. So for 120$ I got one of the best BFS setups you can throw. And I'll bet on that. There is absolutely no excuse spending 200$ on a rod and idk 3 to 400$ on a reel when my black knight does exactly the same no issues. No back lash. Catches huge bass nd handles them with ease. Been fishing this setup for over a year now. The BFS craze is just something they tricked yall guys into spending these ridiculous prices. But hey let fishing catch yall ain't going to catch me imma go catch the same damn fish yall catching!
