    I really like that hand tied bait keeper on that JDM jig. I might try to tie it on some jigs that don't have bait keepers.
    Love it when bass inhale the lure as soon as it hits the water. Great tips for finesse fishing. Thanks for getting out there.

      thanks man! yeah those looks great. I can probably buy cheap line that are thick and give it a shot as well. gonna need some thick thread for that lol.

    I agree with your point on the FTB system. Im new to BFS fishing and threw a 1/32 oz atomic tube jig on the Aldebaran with an Old 18 UL Buoyancy rod expecting to hit 40-50 ft. Of course, all I got was terrible backlash. It took a bit of brake and casting adjustments to get it to consistently cast without backlash and the furthest I could get was roughly half of my expected casting distance

      In the end of the day, it is likely a tuned reel for bass as Shimano focuses on bass fishing. I found it more consistent in this trip with Thicker line and heavier lures. Try a different rod..i threw some lures around that weight with some okay distance, but the consistency wasn't there

    My single favorite bfs style swim jig is the zman midwest finesse swim jig. Awesome light wire hook and a nice soft weedguard to keep the grass off.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have some sitting somewhere. I think I wanna compare the hook wire gauge to some of my Japanese bass jigs. I feel that most American ones are too thick for bfs fishing. Perhaps okay for the power bfs side of things using thicker lines

      @@rawrfishing trust me. The Midwest finesse is light wire. I’d say more in like with a Ned rig or finesse jigs.

      thx man! that reel definitely have grown on me as I get more familiar with it. I am wondering if i even should try to go back light with it. given how sturdy the spool is, i think i'll leave the 1 Gou line on this for the rest of fall into winter. But I do have that new Alphas SV TW 800S... the question is should i also go 1 gou or thicker on that one.. hmmmmm so many options yet so little time.. the fish dont wait! i gotta make up my mind ASAP!

    Thanks for all of the good info in your vids.
    Since this was made and you've gotten a chance to fish other gear, how would you compare the Jackson So Called Finesse to the Major Craft Benkei L?
    I currently have the Benkei but am curious about upgrading to the SCF while there are still some available. I know you probably hit the stiffer backbone faster since it's a solid tip, but is the tip section of the SCF softer than the Benkei?
    Do you feel like the casting weight rating of the SCF is accurate? Is 1/8th oz pretty much the bottom of it's casting capabilities? How does sensitivity compare between the two?
    Thanks for any insight you can provide!

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would say the benkei is a tad but more stiff. But it's close. The so called finesse can definitely cast a tad bit lower than 3.5 grams. Maybe 0.75 gram lighter before it's starting to notice something with the casting. The So called finesse is more sensitive. I would say give it a go! Nab it before it disappears forever!

    My favorite way to fish is on my med light 6'9" and ultra light but i use the ML more

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the ML side of things is what I love to use as well. I think im all BFS'ed out using UL and L for the past few years. Time to focus on ML side of things as I feel that this would help convince more Bass anglers to jump down to the finesse level. So if i can show case some of these tackle and applications, I can eventually get them to BFS. now ML rods are great because it's inbetween. I don't need to have the most UL BFS reels.. and then there are some that are shallow spools but not quite at BFS. Size 70 reels are getting some attention these days so i'll nab a few different ones and see what i can do! It be cool to see more size 50 reels! that would be a perfect reel for ML rods i think!

    Love the vid!What's the heaviest lure weight you can throw on Aldebaran?Most of my lures are from 3g-15g, so i'm deciding between Aldebaran and Antares DC.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx, I don't think going over 10 grams for me as I feel that there will be other reels that would do better. But if I had to, my max would probably be what ever the max rating my rod could handle. The range you have shared, maybe alde bfs 22 is a bit light. I wanted the Aldebaran MGL 30, but it was out of stock since Yen is down. Was hoping that would handle my 3 to 12 gram lures... But I ended up settling with the Daiwa alphas sv tw 800s. Check my latest videos on that reel!

  • @luriux
    @luriux 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great content as always! I think the Aldebaran and the Shimano Majestic rod was a better combo. What were your final thoughts on the Majestic? Any plans for videos with the Gekkabijin reel ? How about a NYC Central Park BFS. adventure video? : )

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thx man! The majestic rod is not as sensitive as the Blast Beats, but at the price, it's definitely going to be a good choice for certain lures. For my fall, if i were to just throw swimming baits, the Majestic is fine. but if it's the most finicky fish that sucks up bait at the bottom, i would opt for the So-Called Finesse rod.
      At this time, I have no plans for the Gekkabijin. I have the alphas air tw and it's pretty much similar. I have been thinking about my future finesse line up and I may focus outside of the UL BFS fishing since the US is finally kicking up with BFS, but I don't think most of these Bass folks will go down to the UL side. I wanna do more L and ML finesse setups. so you will see me use reels that are more suited for those.
      Potentially even look into exploring reels that are around the size of a MGL 70 in different brands too for some of my bigger lures that are not finesse. A lot of things up in the air as Im trying to fill in holes within my arsenal. I may try some big lures as well since i bought some things earlier this year that i can't wait to throw after the weeds die off! :)
