  • @yeeebo
    @yeeebo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    You can see that during his 0-60 attempt the RC F is shifting at 5000 RPM and lower. After you first start the car, the rev limiter restricts it until it's warmed up. Then the rev limiter should be 7300 RPM.

      The reality is it's 2018 and no car is unreliable anymore. Even the Koreans are making solid cars. And when the time comes, repairs on both a Lexus and a BMW will cost a fortune since they're both high performance luxury cars. Let's not pretend like BMW's have an expiration date like a bag of potatoes.

    If you watch right around the 8:00 minute mark when they do the 0-60 test, you can see how he doesn’t break 5,000rpms in any of the gears. Watch the yellow bar as it goes up.. never passes 5,000. It almost looks as if the car isn’t fully warmed up as you can see the lower temperature bar hasn’t even reached the middle yet.

    • @KLRGT500KR

      My dad has one of these and I can confirm that unless the engine is at or above the halfway mark on the temperature, the transmission does not work at its fullest potential. The shifts are slower and it will not rev as high, so that is likely the reason it was acting funny.

    The 350 handles nowhere close to the RCF especially with the TVD. That is ludicrously clueless statement unless you are talking about cruising around the streets. How did you become a reviewer, if you don't know the basics? RCF's 80% suspension is different from 350 and also has much higher chassis rigidity. I drove both cars and then chose to buy the RCF because the experience was night/day.

    THE RCF will make you feel more like an underdog that constantly wins , more than a rich dude with golf clubs. If anything it always puts a smile on my face and with my meisterschaft full exhaust and sikky headers at 475 hp to the wheels that’s 500 plus hp to the crank I’m not complaining . RR racing makes a supercharger kit made of carbon fiber that makes 670 hp to the crank and is track proven with over 10000 harsh miles and no engine failure or hiccups . No engine internals needed .

    It’s a sports car is built for a current Lexus owner. Nothing wrong with it when viewed from that buyer’s eye. Lexus owners understand its appeal and wouldn’t consider another brand if they want a two door. Compared to its German competitors it is also a bargain.

    • @LeeC_808
      @LeeC_808 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      SRT Sorbs I don’t think Lexus owners really buy sports cars. Most people don’t view Lexus as a sports car brand. Sure the racing heritage is there but I don’t think Lexus did a great job marketing the car to the modern day sports sports car driver/buyer. 8 speed auto? No thanks (I know it’s good). A DCT at least... A sports car should be fun just as much as it is fast. Those don’t always equal.

Totally agreed that the 350 with the F-sport package is the bargain deal in the line, especially in the CPO market. If I could afford the RC F, I would give it solid consideration as a GT trip monster. For me, the only other potential GTs in that band might be a used 911 or R8. But I would weigh the excellence of those German offerings against the future reliability of the Lexus. Keep in mind that this is my perspective and interpretation. Your's may differ. So you load up sports coupe with over 800 pounds of fat bodies, on motor thats not warmed up, granny shift, and then attempt to do a 0 to 60 time in an NA motor a mile above sea level and complain about the performance? Do same thing to M4 don't warm it up, granny shifting, put over 800 lb of pure fat and see what sort of 0 to 60 time it's going to get, it will be slightly better due to forced induction of turbochargers.
    And being mile above sea level were most of country doesn't live. Your performance reviews will always be slightly skewed from the rest of the country. When you compare any forced-induction vehicle to NA motor you know what the outcome is going to be.
    They just give some of the most horrible reviews on cars just like Doug with his scripted reviews and his Doug score. Just take a look at some of his top picks and that will tell you the type of car guy supposedly he is. Doug probably doesn't know which end of a screwdriver to use. Thanks for a review that speaks to normal car owners. I don't care how it handles on a test track. I am never driving a car on a test track. I am never going to do 1/4 mile tire shredding launches on Los Angeles streets. I am not going do top gear roll on races against a M4 on the I-10 freeway. I want a good looking, reliable, luxury car that has power, comfort and isn't a dime a dozen. Doesn't scream boy racer and will still look good and run perfectly after five years. I still have my 2006 IS350. 13 years old and still looks good and drives as well as the day we purchased it. I am going to have a hard time deciding between the RC-F and the new Supra. The Supra may look a little too racy to me but my wife has wanted a Supra for so long since her A70 Supra got totaled. But the Lexus brand and luxury plus that V8 sound. How am I going to decide?

    Appreciate in value? On the used market, 2015/2016 RC Fs are about $44,000 with 20,000 miles, which is a 30-45% depreciation from up to $80,000! I agree with Nathan, but would get the RC 350 with AWD. For $70k to $80k, you might as well get a used LC 500 since they've depreciated 20-30% in a year.

    I've always viewed Lexus and their cars as grand tourers not actual sport cars. They are not really designed to be sport cars. They are designed to be comfortable.

    I hate BMWs. They are overpriced, rattle and drive like shit. Lexus actually had the RCF on the track with the M4 side-by-side and there is no comparison. The Lexus feels like it’s carved from a solid piece of metal where BWM felt too light and shaky. I would choose Lexus any day!

    Not to be a "Doug fan boy" but Doug didn't say in his video he hated the car. In his video, he stated car enthusiasts and other car publications thought the RC line in general was a flop based on low sales numbers compared to the RC's competitors. He stated he actually like the car and recommended those considering a
    BMW 4 looking for a performance grand touring car should consider the RC-F. In general, I very much enjoy this channel but feel this particular video had a specific agenda.

    • You missed showing the the plastic cover under the actual hood, comes off, making the scoop functional, "so to speak." (Sarah showed it: th-cam.com/video/G1N5HuImgCo/w-d-xo.html at 3:13 mins.)

    Beautiful clean design. Refreshingly elegant and simple. Nicer OEM wheels than most other cars as well. I'm not a big fan of the interior. It isn't a seamless, cohesive design. Almost looks like Frankensteined random mismatched blocky 90's style components from various cars.
