Does Lexus have MORE WORK to do with the 2019 RC350 F-Sport?

  • The Lexus RC350 F-Sport has been updated for 2019. Under the hood is a 3.5L V6 producing 311 HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. On the outside both the front and rear fascias have been updated, along with new head lights. On the inside there a couple changes in finishes, but still a very high level of fit and finish. Has Lexus done enough to raise the bar for the RC350 F-Sport or is there more work to be done?

    People...listen...this isn't a race car...not an M car. Not a performance car. It's a GT Coupe...think 2 door Bentley. Think A5. Think q60 coupe. Not RS5. Not Supra. Not m3. If you want to sit on a piece of hard wood with more road noise than 0db...get an m car and let me know how fast it breaks.

    • @jlo8775
      @jlo8775 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @-Can Ameri- Meh, I’m unimpressed with the Germans. They are merely status symbols. You can troll them all day in a Tesla P100D, and you can out class them in a Lexus. Shit even the Caddy CTS-V does it better at just over $100K

    • @saxopio6280
      @saxopio6280 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JLo - 😂😂😂. “YOU” might not be impressed with German cars but most people in the developed world with a true sense of luxury are. BTW, the only vehicles that sell well for Lexus these days are its FWD-based RX, NX and its Toyota Avalon-based ES, none of which can compete with the Germans. And unlike Audi’s FWD biased lineup, you can’t even get the ES in AWD for Christ sake! Lexus also stopped offering a performance and cabriolet variant for the IS and only offered the LFA for a limited time. 🤦🏼‍♂️
      Speaking of Tesla, looks like Lexus (along with the other Japanese “luxury” brands) will be last to market for pure EVs. Lexus was also late to offer Android Auto / Apple CarPlay. God knows they need it because Lexus infotainment system is STILL garbage, which is a shame for a luxury brand in 2019. But I guess you do still have bulletproof reliability going for you. So there’s that, but then, so does a regular Toyota or a modern-day Porsche. Why not just buy a Avalon/Camry TRD, or Landcruiser , save some dinero, and call it a day?

      @@ngb802 dude lexus rc350 f sport is faaaaaaaaaar superior when it comes to ride quality. The car offers the most luxurious and comfortable ride compare to its competitors (in my case those were cla45 amg, m240i, s3, q60). It is perfect for someone who is not a speed addict but value comfort and luxury a lot. The problem with the RC is the weight. It was designed to later be sold as a convertible, so the frame was strengthened. The convertible never happened, but we are left with all that extra steel robbing us of performance. A 300+ hp car should accelerate much better than this. (Coming from an ex owner of a 2015 RC350 F-Sport).

    • @rellykz2175

      Coming from an owner of an RCF, the car kicks in hard at higher gears than lower gears. Ngl the 350 is completely trash in terms of performance, but comfort, reliability, and second hand market prices? For under 25k and low mileage, the 350 is definitely a steal for what it is, a daily luxury coupe that you can get AWD on.

    Car enthusiasts want more of everything. More power, more performance, better design, better handling and so on. With that manufacturers have to find a middle ground and this is it. The car is underwhelming. Ok the interior is beautiful. I remember when Lexus came out with the IS series which had a very similar profile to the BMW 3 series. I’m not sure what the design of this is supposed to evoke. Sporty luxury I guess. It just looks blah though. I’ll give them a thumbs up for the interior engine sound. It sounds enhanced in a good way.

    Great thorough review on this GT cruiser.
    A 350-400 hp 3.5 L V6 twin Turbo would fit right in-between the 311 hp 3.5 liter V6 and the 472 hp 5.0 V8
    This what I’m debating when I retire in 5 years (end of 2026).
    In the spring of 2027 I’ll need to make a decision on either a one owner well Maintained 2015-17 RCF or a 2019-20 RC 350 F-Sport. I won’t be tracking either one, which makes me want to lean towards the 350 FSport BUT I know when I test drive the RCF and feel and hear that 5.0 V8 rumble and kick ass power the F sport will be 2nd choice!

    The sizing is amazing in this car. I'm 6'2 240lbs so I can't even get in the back seat lol, but the front seats fit like a charm, I have done dozens of 700+mile trips in this car no problem. Also, in an IS model or even the SUVs when you are tall the windows are too small and you will find yourself with a really dangerous blind spot as the bar between front and read windows is exactly at the 9oclock side of your face. It also sucks to not be able to put you arm up on the window. This problem is solved in the rc350 with the longer doors and windows. As to the comment about the power, I do agree that the jump from 311hp to 476hp seems a bit drastic. That said, I added a supercharger for about 10k all in and that actually got me to about the same torque and WHP as an RCF. One interesting thing about the car is that it really loses a lot of power when you let the transmission do all the work. Switching to tiptronic and shifting at the right spots will really allow you to get the most out of the car, and the shifting is amazing. In fact I have been able to outrun people in an RCF if I shifted and they just relied on the computer shifting itself.
    The one thing I REALLY hate about the car though is the terrible infotainment system. It really needs a larger screen that is also touch-screen.

    Correct - this is just a GT, good value against base Euros. Great design and seating, but dated centre dash as you say. Drivetrain is DISAPPOINTING... a fancy Camry V6 coupe with a silly transmission gate. Forgot to point out the floating side mirrors: top part is black to hide in the window frame. The driving footage is a good idea but interior filming needs improving... too far and out of focus in parts.
