  • The 2019 Lexus RC F is a Sport Coupe that competes directly with the Mercedes Benz C63 AMG and the BMW M4. But, where those vehicles have been updated recently, the RC F solders on with last year's tech and and interior. Is it still good enough to compete? Ryan has a full review

Owned c63 from 2010 and still going strong not a single repair. Also owned es300 from 2009 and had to get alternator and headlight replaced. So I don’t know if your input makes sense. Don’t get me wrong Japanese hands down win when it comes to longevity but you treat German cars right, I don’t see them breaking down but yeah they are expensive to fix but not a lot to be very honest. You can compare dealer oil changes from Lexus and merc

i hit 35mpg in my rcf and put 1000 miles a week in it. Cars comfortable for me and all reviews say the same thing about the RCF that its heavy, etc. For those looking at this car just drive the car yourself and base your own opinion cause i love my rcf.
    1. Theres not alot of them on the road so its nice being rare
    2. Still plenty of compliments from random people
    3. Power is there, handling is there, reliability is there.
    4. Yes the m4 is faster and the c63 is faster but either way its not that much faster than an rcf also driver mod and you can easily take them out.
    5. Some people may think that the interior is out to date but i think its just fine to me, Its comfortable for me might be for you to.

^No driver can fix a gap like that. The m4 is a second (or more) faster from 100 to 200. And with the comp pack it destroys the rcf on every track. The relibility is also there with the s55 engine. The trade off for owning rcf over germans is you get better induction noise and exhuast too(not in c63s case though). Not hatinf on rcf i love seeing them on the street but its not like the isf when it came out. That gave the germans a run for their money in every category for a performance sedan for the street. Apart from build quality, materials paint, practicality, ergonomics blah blah the thing was a serious performer for the time. And on top of that was def more reliable.

    • @stefanfreestylez

@Romero Bryan lol my friendd rcf was on par with my e92 m3 manual....vs m4 there was no chance. He even said about 7 months ago he regrets not getting m4. Its better overall car ther eis no doubt the performance gap is quite big in straight line.

The highest mileage RCF is at 100k+ miles, owner said he hasn't had problems with the car. Second highest was around 70k no problems. The only problem with this car is the active spoiler not working at times, and there's a solution found already. Second would be premature wear on some owner's seats but it could be because of a lot of reasons. But ur talking sports car 100k+ miles? Majority of owners stated no problems yet. When two or three are starting to bash hard, you clearly don't want to be on the side of the one who didn't jumped the hate wagon, because you will have to work much harder to defend your position. Car reviewers are confronted, all day, with magnificent rockets on wheels, and, other thing, they must not pay to maintain them. At the end of the day, the work was done and they go home. We don't, we will still have our cars,, even if the light goes out, and it's where the difference is. @@tashinasimpson1927

Sweet mercy....where do you start with this review without trolling? If a person can swing an 85k car, trust me we’re not interested in MPGs or tire cost...you think that’s what we’re talking about at the track or car meets? Performance figures....A freaking Model 3 is quicker on the street than the cars in this segment...it’s not why we keep buying or trying each one of these cars every 2-3 years. I don’t own this car...just a gear head that enjoys the differences that we have these days...the reviewer completely missed the spirit of what the RC F is.

I agree with you on most things in this video but few things to mention. Yes this car is 4000LBS, but so is C63. Yes M4 is lighter but not AMG. And on the pricing 82K is expensive but C63 or M4 can get near 100K Easily. Speaking relatively, 82K isn't bad (I think most RCFs are optioned around 75k). Last thing is, RCF rides LOT more smoother than AMG or M. I consider this car a GT car rather than, sports/track car which AMG and M are more oriented towards. And the excitement of having high revving big NA V8 is gem these days.

Let's talk realistically, I believe the car enthusiast community has gone to... absolute shit. The problem these days is that millennials which make up a good portion of the community are so fixated on the wrong aspect of vehicles(and yes i'm a millennial as well). These days, "car enthusiasts" are so focused on how much horse power, how fast is the car... but did you forget how much it costs to own the car? How comfortable is the car to drive and own? How is the car going to hold up? Is it worth the money? People look at the RCF and they hear too slow, too heavy, "ugly". What I see is one of the best bang for your buck all around car. You get the luxury, reliability of a Lexus-Toyota, you get the comfortable ride, you get a car capable of pushing 500whp, you get a car that will last you a long time, can you say the same for a f82/f80? I've had a M4, and I now own a Lexus RCF. The M4 was so tail happy, great pure driving vehicle. As an everyday vehicle it was nowhere near my RCF and that was the selling point. People look at the numbers and think wow this cars slower so its shittier, well shit if you never drove it and you think i'm buying this car to track it all the time then you've got it mistaken. Trading in my M4 for my RCF was the BEST decision, also hated the sound of my M4, I went to get a custom made exhaust, tried the burble tune, and the f82 just sounded so shit. I'm in love with my RCF's exhaust, a meisterschaft exhaust makes the car sound so good. Also, the design of the RCF stands out a lot more, and to me the RCF has what the M4 doesn't. What the M4 doesn't is aesthetically it isn't unique to its own, you know it's a RCF when you see it, for an M4 without the badge only those who have an idea about M's know what trim it is. You know it's bad when in reality, the 435/440 is a better buy than the M4. As to the weight of the RCF, I fixed it by simply adding the Ti exhaust, and putting it on coils. Reality of it is that the RCF vs M4 is only 0.5s and the RCF is a whopping 500 lbs heavier as well, so what does that say to the doubters when BMW went from a heavier V8 to a v6 w/ turbo, and is 500lbs lighter and only managing to beat the RCF by .5s. However, to each's own I just prefer the RCF after owning an M4. I have yet to have any problems with the car after 30k miles, just oil changes and the regular maintenance, and the one thing I don't miss is the gas consuming beast the M4 was compared to the RCF.

G was 5.05 and GSF was 4.93. I also expect my new GSF will do better than my old Nissan in the future. By the way my old G was a used auction car before and has been almost ZERO issue for near 9 year ownership. So all of the parts are still OLD original factory parts except maintenance items...

Yes. Toyota/Lexus dependability is much better than BMW or Mercedes. If you need to get to the grocery store and seconds matter, go with the European cars. If low cost of ownership, rock solid dependability and highest of resale values are the crux of your concerns, go with the Lexus. This normally aspirated Lexus will be going strong long after the competition has to rebuild or replace those turbos.

The problem is that this car is a car that you have to feel it with the heart, I mean, the BMW and the Mercedes are just mental cars made with bi turbos made to the circuit and for guys that just want to see a paper that you are fast, light and having turbos. The Lexus is an atmospheric car that sound incredibly amazing and looks even better and also the sound is huge clean. That car is made to be luxurious and fast, so that means that it weight 300 kg more that the Mercedes and bmw. So I think that you don’t understand why that car is created and you have to feel it with the heart no with the head like a super sport car, when you really understand that car is when you said that is better than the bmw and the Mercedes.
Conclusion: with that weight and no turbos, you get a car with an incredible power and handling that is not as good as bmw and Mercedes ones but is in the same height. The sound is amazing and the engine, this just mean that the car is special and for people that really loves the pure cars with no overpowered engines and fake sounds.
And when you have the opportunity to buy those cars you chose to be one more with a turbocharged engine, or a special car, which gives me all the points to buy the Lexus.

It's really about what you look for in a performance car. If you just lease it or know you will sell it for something else or newer, then getting c63 or m4 is good too and probably is better in terms of track performance. But the german cars will become money pits if you plan on keeping it long term. This is a heavy car because they put in strong long lasting parts for reliability in the long run and don't sacrifice for lighter/performance from parts that won't last as long.

Some very odd comments here that don’t tally when comparing it to rivals. It’s not out dated, the materials are better than rivals, it’s more reliable than rivals and in anything other than bone dry conditions will spanker them. Also it’s a family car! Young kids can easily fit in the back. If I was single I would be getting a 2 seater. Also, the older v8 m3 and c63 are identical weights. If you want a v8 it’s the only choice.

Sad to retire this one. Not many sports coupe out their that can comfortable fit a basketball player. Lexus should do same as Nissan 350z. Have an entry level model that will attract masses in order to keep the only soulful car in its arsenal alive. You don't need the trick differential, the base model does a good job using the rear end to steer (probably cause better balance with light V6 up front). LS looks awesome, but not a real car for the streets.

Another Lexus hating reviewer like Doug DeMauro. If you’re going to compare them to BMW and Mercedes and not mention Lexus’s reliability is FAR MORE SUPERIOR than right away you lost my interest. Yes this RC F is too heavy but that is the only major negative. The interior quality is by far superior to anything. Yes the infotainment system is dated but who cares about that I’m looking at the road when I’m driving. I won’t be tracking mine when I get one and that’s perfectly fine with me. The RC F is a incredible GT cruiser and it will be more retirement gift to myself

It'll hold its value and it one of the best parts, it has a NA V8, just listen to the beautiful sounds it belts out. This car will be HIGHLY sought after in 10 years. Great deal on the used market. Having said that, I like the GS F better. Better standard options and room for my goofy kids.

This review is a bit biased because the Lexus RC is obviously an old car. Now compare it to a 2015 BMW M4; the BMWs are aging and Lexus is better. Mercedes obviously is the king in this segment.
If you look at the new BMWs, they're modern as heck and they look better than Lexus. Now, do you like the Lexus LC / LS / and ES looks? If you do, then expect to see more of that interior design for the next gen RC / IS / GS (probably not the GS).

The RC is a grand touring car. The C63, and M3 are sports cars, and if they are marketed as touring cars then they are touring cars the same way the current Nissan Pathfinder is an SUV, and the Honda Ridgeline is a pickup truck. No one is fooled by the passenger tires, and longitudinal front-wheel biased drivetrain. Maybe I am speaking for myself, but just sharing thoughts.

  • @KraftyDubstep
    @KraftyDubstep 5 ปีที่แล้ว

In my opinion the RCF looks cool but lacks in the interior and raw performance ability. I have driven all three on track. The C63s and M3/M4 competition are still on another level when it comes to all around driving experience. Hands down Mercedes has the best interiors in the game right now. Then BMW/Audi and Lexus has been stuck in the early 2000’s. Nothing has changed and everything feels Toyota on the inside. The RCF is the type of car for your average person who will probably never track their car but wants a comfortable and reliable sports coupe without minding the outdated interior. If I were to sell my TTrs tomorrow I would definitely get the new M3cs as a daily over any of the other options.

for years Lexus strayed away from turbo charging their engines because it hurts reliability alot and lexus v8 engines are probably the best built most balanced v8 engines on the planet and they deliver the power like no other for example the first ever lexus which was the LS400 you could balance a coin on the engine block and rev the hell out of it and the coin would stay standing this was in 1999!!!! to have such impressive reliability and performance from a car brand that is 63 years YOUNGER than mercedes benz of whom make some of the most unreliable cars these days and not even mention bmw and vw awfully overcomplicated cars of poor design customers being sold lies fuel consumption, horsepower for example or emissions :D. The other (bmw, mercedes) cars featured in this video wouldnt last more than 3 years without a failure that would bankrupt you as an owner because you apparently waiver your rights to a compensation when you buy a shit car

How come allot of Lexus owners have to constantly comment that their cars will last longer or whatever perk they see with their cars compared to the competition. Has x amount of miles no issues etc. Money pit this money pit that. If you know your Lexus is better then there is no need to tell everyone who owns a BMW or Mercedes , Audi etc. This is coming from someone who works at Lexus and yes I enjoy where I work great brand.

90 percent of these high performance vehicles I would suspect belong to owners who live in urban or suburban areas of the U.S. In those areas, traffic is so dense, your average speed is probably 40 mph or less. Thus, what is the need for all that hp? I see it all the time, people have spent a ton of money and sit in crawling traffic.

  • @phm14

Love my RCF, and did not pay sticker. Would still have bought it over an M4, ever if the M4 was a little cheaper (M4 is more $). These reviewers love to whine about nickpicks, and they never mention resale while they bitch about the price-that's stupid. Then there's the bozos complaining about the weight, over and over again. I guess these clowns haven't seen the YT track test where Randy Probst does hot laps in the M4 and RCF, with less than a one second lap time difference. Tire and brake pad selection can make a far greater lap time difference than that, but don't ask a YT reviewer: most of them, including this guy, don't seem to have ever been on a track, or taken the huge resale hit on a BMW. This isn't a track car, but I've tracked several of my sports cars (as well as the ISF I owned prior to the RCF), many times, and this car does not feel heavy. My ISF did great on track, without even a brake fluid change-just laughed at the high speed flogging, with no brake issues, even with the stock pads. No reason to think my RCF would offer any disappointments on track, but that's not what I bought it for. No one with any track smarts regularly tracks any car they can't afford to walk away from, as all auto insurers have track exclusions in their policies, and track insurance gets expensive fast. Resale aside, Lexus builds a better overall car than BMW or Mercedes. The 2020 RCF track version will debut next month, announced days before this video...another tidbit omitted by the clueless "reviewer" as he blabs about the AMG S and the RCF "heading for retirement" :)
