I've been wondering for so long how people are so quick and hard to track in cqc. Been really frustrating. Now i know. This is the first video I've ever found that talks about block jumping, double lunge, etc. THANK YOU!!!!
@@HitboTC Just a quick follow-up. An hour of remapping controller and practicing with sword/gun on skellys and I already see a big improvement. I fought multiple boarders off my ship. I engaged in shenanigans with an alliance sloop and brig at a fort of fortune. This included stealth boarding a ship and winning a 3v1 fight. Ramming their boat in to the brig. Killing one of their guys. And setting both ships on fire before they finally got me. Keep in mind I never could kill anyone in cqc, which cuts off so much fun in this game sometimes. I didn't get any loot or anything, but man I had fun being able to actually fight competently. Thanks again for you videos!!! I think Hitbo hasn't presented the whole picture on holes in boats: A sloop can have 3 holes on the left and 4 holes on the right (lower deck), that is correct, but a brig can have 9 holes on the left and 8 on the right (lower deck), while a galleon can have 5 on the left and 7 on the right (mid deck), SO: the conclusion to make would be to on a sloop AND galleon to attack with the left side facing the enemy and on a brig to do it with your right side facing the enemy. *I could be wrong, but these values were in some infographics posted in the SoT discord and they seem plausible. Love ya and your content!
So I would only say, to be sweaty, is that the weapons deal points of damage, not percentage. Due to aforementioned boredom during my time farming sharks for the commendation I decided to check damage numbers against them, deciding instead of trusting a wiki to know truly this useless information. Sharks have 200 hit points, with the numbers given for the weapons (25/60 damage from the sword, 55 from the pistol, 70 from the eye of reach and 10 per pellet from the blunderbuss) which I knew roughly before hand (only didn't know pistols did 55, I assumed 50) I was able to discover that Sharks actually have an odd "weakness"; they take bonus damage from swords. I found that sharks take only 6 sword swings to kill, not 8. This also lined up with lunges, only taking 3 instead of 4. So what does this mean? It means clearly you should be jumping into the water to sword fight megalodons. Super effective strat. Trust me, I mean I just told multiple truths already, why would I lie?

Great video! I love PvP based games, but SoT always felt a bit weird. There are a lot of mechanics, as well as "exploits" that you NEED to know since everyone else uses them hehe. But I will try and use the tips in your video to help me feel more "evenly matched" with other players. 🙂
Oh boy, don't go playing games like for honor, mordhau or chivalry. You legit need tens of hours to know how to use all the "tricks". And then hundreds more to know how and when to use them.
@@gymnodinium9 not necessarily, obviously exploiting gives you an advantage, but especially in ship to ship combat the battlefield is like a game of chess. You need to know where to sail, when to shoot, when to board, etc.
Just started playing a few days ago, the games is really aesthetically pleasing but I keep getting clapped by clearly more experienced players. I’ve been watching as many tips and tricks videos as possible. What would you recommend a full on noob like me to focus on first to be able to handle ourselves against these more experienced enemies?
I'm on the same boat, but seeing this video actually discourages me to keep playing, I have a full time job and just want to chill with friends a bit, learning all this just to be able to defend my ship is off putting. I think we bought the wrong game. It's a pity because without pvp it would be really fun.
I would love to practice some pvp skills but I find it difficult to find an opportunity. When a player approaches my ship they're usualy alot better than me and kill me too quickly for me to learn much. But at the same time I don't want to be "that guy" who goes around targeting fresh spawns who aren't looking for a fight yet. What do I do? I know there is no etiquette left in this game but I just don't want to be a dick when I try to practice.

the servers need an active hierarchy of play levels; which would also benefit all.

You cannot. There is no hole created as if the brig was still there.
