      I am still a bit confused about the mercenary tab. I have defeated a few mercs and even recruited one to my ship, however, after awhile it no longer shows the mercs that I have defeated. Is this a glitch?

      The mercs are constantly refreshed - aka there isn't an finite amount of mercs to kill, they kinda respawn Shadow-of-War style, so don't worry!

    Hmmm..., Level 41 as Alexios with the difficulty on Nightmare on my very first playthrough with a new combat system (never played Origins or seen gameplays). I have yet to spend money on microtransactions despite how many times I died in the game. Side quests boring ? At times, excpect the character side quests since it builds character to that npc which is nice...as well as the xp and money. Completely ignore the message board unless desperate for Drachme then I do bounties. Resource a grind ? Yes, but no issues with it whatsoever since I sell un-used equipment the use that money to buy myself resources from blacksmiths when I get the chance. Pacing pretty well, got enough resources where I dont need to grind at all for them, and have way more than plenty on Drachme. I'm either equal or above region/area levels. So then...I don't understand why people feel like they're forced to spend money on microtransactions and makes a big fuss out of it. Yes I get it, shouldn't be a thing on a triple A game, espically when it's just a pure single player RPG and its stoopid. But hey-zues people, it'a completely optional to pay for money if you want shortcuts. If you think it's forcing you to use microtransactions to make the game more appealing..sorry, maybe the game isnt up your alley. It's an RPG for crying out loud, its meant to be grindy in the first place. Fuck people-I-mean fuck me-I-mean fuck. I'm tired of reading of complaints about microtransactions that isn't even much of a game changer. Maybe I need to stop looking at complaints of microtransactions that is so minor to the point you'd forget it's there. I don't support microtransactions, espically if are pay 2 win, but this one is completely optional you dont even need it to play/beat the game. *sigh* Watever, just you do you I guess.

      @someguyonyt2831 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Bad Man Pfff looks like someone doesn't know how to grind in this game effectively. You don't grind from little side quests that gives you a blue EXP or purple EXP. you grind from doing Contract missions and Conquest mission. just pick up contract quests from notice board and go to Conquest mission if it available. if it not, just kill the leader of that nation and loot nation chest and you're good to go. without boosting, you gets 2 purple gears, lot of money and lot of exp. i'm talking about 40-50k around level 30+. if you have a conquest contract mission, you will get exp around 80k-90k without boosting. i can max 2 characters in under 30 hrs without boosting, EZ as fuck.

    • @Ptolemy336VV
      @Ptolemy336VV 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Bad man. There is a huge amount of depth first of all visually. The game is gorgeous because of the landscapes of Greece that is dominated by 80% mountains, thousands of islands, great mainland, lush forests, rugged cliffs, volcano's and thousands of kilometers of crystal clear sea.
      Second of all. there are many systems that doesnt make the game boring like many other AC games. The game is explorative, has multi cultural and historical layers in which the game is set 431BCE, but there are architectures and hidden places that are from earlier Greek historic layers like Mycenae 1700-1200 BCE and Minoan civilization 3650-1300 BCE.
      Then the naval battles are back which was one of the greatest reasons why previously Black flag was one of my best like AC games ever. But this game has it all and ofcourse with a great mainland and many islands to explore this is but only the perfect setting to do so.
      Then you have ofcourse the cult that you need to unmask. The arena fights, the wildlife, the treasure hunts, the massive war battles in which you can make a impact on, the choices in conversations you make. It gives the option to change the course of the story but also saving people, or fighting others. The other thing is upgrading everything, the entire RPG elements of it that also gives the player constant sense of progression. Then you have mythical figures in the game that are a great alternative to the otherwise in it's base historical and normal world that you are exploring.
      Also having multiple sides in the Peloponnesian wars you can take on many quests or loot national treasures that will affect the dominance of certain powers in various regions of the country. So basically. This game with all the systems in place is very diverse and never has an AC game been so diverse and great to play as this one.

      Bad Man .. so like every RPG? Man Witcher sure had a shitload of grind

    • @proscons6345
      @proscons6345 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bad Man You barely have to grind and you’ll level up really fast. I don’t see why people think it takes so long. Besides, this game forces you to play a little bit of its side quests, which is good, because people usually don’t have time to just play side quests on their own leisure! So now, you have to play these side quests, which most of them are absolutely amazing! Plus there are the Cult if Kosmos, and the Order of the Ancients, plus there’s Atlantis, and the Labyrinth! Why is people getting so mad over them making us play these side quests?! They are amazing! Just go around the world and complete the side quests, or the areas where you have to collect the chests, or whatever the area wants you to do! You can kill all the mercenaries till you’re tier one! Accept bounties and contracts whenever you can at the message boards, and you’ll level up really fast! I usually have an average of 40 quests ready to be completed! Kill all the legendary animals, or compete in the Arena and fight a bunch of people! Or take to the seas and fight and plunder a whole bunch of ships while you level up a WHOLE bunch because you have accepted the contracts and bounties that require you to destroy ships! Or, if you feel like it, there are some bounties where you have to kill mythical creatures, like Medusa or a cyclops! And then, on top of everything, the dlcs are amazing! And I haven’t even started naming off all the things you can do, and most of them aren’t just filler that have no point... So why are you guys battering this game for taking too long to level up?! There’s plenty for you to do to level up and you’ll be level 50 before you even know it. And you’ll be able to complete the entire main quest line before level 50 anyway, so it’s completely fine... This game should’ve one game of the year, and it almost did, it was nominated, so obviously this game was very good. Go easier on this game guys, it’s amazing, and no games like Fortnite are as good as this, or even God of War really... I loved that game but after you complete the main quest line... it’s over. There’s nothing else to do. You’re done with the game, and that’s it. You have new game plus, but it’s the same thing. Then you have collectibles in the world that are actually pointless and there is no need for them. But there’s nothing like that in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, everything you do has a point, and you’ll get rewarded for it in some way. There is no way around it, this game is one of the greatest of all time. And I think some people need to realize that Assassin’s Creed is coming back, and it’s better than ever.

    Every review I've watched of this game, they always mention how the scale is "overwhelming". I don't get it. Don't you want MORE content, not less? Don't you want the freedom of making your own choices on your own time, instead of being on a linear rail having the content fed to you? I would rather curate my own experience using a plethora of content to do so instead of being spoonfed.
    The best part about having so many choices is that fact that it's not reality. You make a mistake, you can go back and reload.

      The problem witb having an overwelming amount of content is that usually if a game shoves in as much content as they can then the content isnt as good as it could be and not as much time has beeb put into it, in AC Oddyssey for example most of the side quests are just boring fetch quests and all of the bandit camps are the same and rarely have anything new or a compelling story to stop and enjoy, if they spent less time shoving in content then they could have spent more time making thr content they have better

    • @SadTennesseeMan
      @SadTennesseeMan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well to be honest I dont think there is a right choice. In one you're a murderer by association and in the other you're allowing a deadly disease to potentially run rampant. The thing is is when there is a disease we dont just get to murder those infected. We can isolate them, but killing them is not only immoral but it allows no further study into the disease in order to cure it. I think that based on the result, saving the family can seem like the wrong decision, but in the end I feel like it is the right one.

    • @maevenoor7980
      @maevenoor7980 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SadTennesseeMan Considering what time this is playing in, I'd highly doubt the importance of studying said disease, as we know that the possibility of actually curing such will not occur for many hundred years. So even collecting such data might hold historical interest, but hardly any medical ...
      And who knows? This particular type of virus might never plague humanity again, if eradicated then and there ... Things like this happen all the time. Viruses follow the same "survival of fittest" life cycle as animals and humans do.

    • @SadTennesseeMan
      @SadTennesseeMan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maevenoor7980 true, but I think there are so many unknowns. Just simply eradicating all those infected will work for the time, but whose go say it doesnt pop up again somewhere else? Or even in Kephallonia again? While I understand the mindset of people at the time, I cant help but come at it from my own modern perspective. Even if there is no way of finding a cure, I dont like the idea of just killing the infected. Quarantine the diseased and dont let it spread, fine, but dont just kill everyone. I feel like this is the same conundrum presented in Infinity War. Thanos (The Priests) wants to save the universe (Kephallonia) from almost certain eventual extinction due to a lack of resources (blood fever). The Avengers (Kassandra/Alexios) also wants to save them, but wants to find a better way than simply killing people. Both want essentially the same thing, but one has a brutal way of going about it, albeit effective. Both choices can seem moral and immoral depending on your perspective, which is why I feel like there isn't really a right answer.

    I still really enjoy the modern day segments. I can see why people don't like them as it does interrupt what's essentially the focus of the game during key moments to create some narrative tension. However, I appreciate how the series has managed to maintain an interwoven narrative for so long - with varying results. Besides, if Ubisoft were to get rid of this narrative line entirely, then a large part of the game's identity would be taken away. The series already tried this in Unity, Syndicate with some cutscenes featuring the modern characters (and I guess you could even throw in the Chronicles games as well), and this just felt like it was further removing us from the gameplay of these parts while interrupting the narrative flow of the historical campaign.
    I think they've made the right call with Origins and Odyssey introducing a new playable character while making the mandatory interactions as minimal as possible. That way those who simply don't care can get the basic narrative beats to follow the overarching story while those who enjoy the broader aspects of the plot can get as much out of it as they like.

      Well thought out Andy. I for one dislike the modern day interruptions. I'd rather see a well done Gieko insurance commercial interrupt the game than the Modern day content. BUT!!! Your comment helps me see why others do like the feature. Thumbs up to you.

      Modern day needs to die. I loved it when there was a story but now we get tiny amounts of modern day which lead to absolutely nothing. If nothing ever happens on a grand scale then I can't see myself being invested in it again

      @@R619ification2011I completely agree that the modern day element took a nose dive after Desmond's story wrapped up. After that there was wandering around an office and cutscenes that really didn't accomplish anything. I feel like after AC3 Ubisoft made the mistake to listen to the people who didn't like the modern day parts by gutting them to the point where they were nothing more than reading a couple of documents. There were still some very interesting voice recordings in Black Flag and even after that you can find some coole stuff, but it is way to superficial. Ever since Origins and now with Odyssey it looks like they are slowly expanding it again and pretty much explain to new people what the hell is going on with the Isu.

    You barely have to grind and you’ll level up really fast.

    I've been playing the game since Tuesday and it's ace. It's definately a rival to 2 and Black Flag for the best Assassins Creed game. I love the scenery and setting. The tweaked combat system from Origins now allows you to take out enemies quicker if you chain the abilities.So it allows you to feel like a kickass assassin. I also love that they gave you a choice to be a male or female assassin. I picked Kassandra and i agree that she's a good character and well acted. It's funny because i wasn't really exited about this game up until a few weeks ago and now it's a serious contender for my favourite AC game. There is microtransactions but nobody forces anyone to buy them so i don't see the problem with them. I want single player games to be profitable because the day single player games end will be the day i stop playing games. It's an ace game and it would be a real shame for people not to buy it because it has microtransactions that you don't even need to buy.

      I agree with you on the single player games. As a mdic my time is limited and I am also on call from time to time. While multiplayer is most likely fun, I just can't do it. One reason why I don't do WOW, would love to but can't/ It's not fair to the others in your party, your party is on a quest and I am an important part, but right in the middle of fighting the boss I have to run out and take a call. Not fair to the other players. The other problem is I could start a game with a group, but because of the way my profession works it may be days and sometimes weeks before I can rejoin. So here I come back into the game at that 5th level we had all suffer to reach, but wait, everyone else has been playing and now they are level 80. Well throw me in front of the party and I can delay the boss for a second or two, maybe less. Yes multiplayer is fun, but right now not able to do it

    The reason why the modern day feels the way it does is literally because they were building towards an ending but suddenly went the other way and tried to get back to that path. Without the main character.
    I’ve said it before, but I was really hoping for the series to eventually come to a modern day setting where Desmond kept having the bleeding affect while he tries to stop Juno. The bleeding effect could be so bad that it could literally send him into the past without the animus and you get to play through different time periods,but still feel the sense of importance of the modern setting. They did not go this route.

    I really think Ubisoft regrets implementing the modern-day story. I remember when the first game was being marketed and the whole "what's with this modern day stuff?" was genuinely intriguing and I think that's a big reason why there's a modern day storyline at all. The first game was an absolute hype-monster and the modern day imagery was a part of that. But it grew old within the first few moments of taking control of Desmond. It's a terrible framing device and they've been paring it down ever since AC3 ended it seems, so it just needs to go away.

I'm convinced that almost anyone on here could have built a modern day adventure that could be intertwined with the past regression. One idea, while experiencing your ancestors life you can experiment with handling the situations they faced in a different manner, If it works you can use that knowledge in your present day battles. This was just off the top of my head so yes there are plenty of problems that need work out, but if they are then it would make the modern day relevance. Remember with Desmond's story arc they were using the animus to locate pieces of Eden. On a personal note, I am commenting a lot tonight...need to stop and go play. lol

    Hi Johnny... You have a very nice, calm and friendly voice... Really peaceful and soothing. I love it, and really love watching the videos! I really like the fact that you actually seem to enjoy the games, and don't just simply go about criticizing them, in harsh and arrogant ways, without any regard for how hard the devs work to bring these awesome spectacles to us all the time... We'd have to watch paint dry, if it wasn't for these awesome people who work so hard to amaze, amuse and inspire us (Origins' Discovery Tour was so incredible and educational)! Yet few people really appreciate these things, and are far more eager to criticize and dismiss all this hard work for the most insignificant reasons, "didn't like this", "that wasn't right", "not Assassin's Creed"!
    I used to read a lot Asterix too! One request, just please stop saying "Oooh"-bisoft... PLEASE!!! It's You-bisoft, as in ubiquitous... PLEASE! Every time someone pronounces it "Oooh"-bisoft, I die a little bit inside!!!
    I love the series too, very much! Need for Speed and Assassin's Creed are my favorite franchises, and the history of Assassins and Templars is so incredible, mind-blowing and fascinating!
    All that said, sadly though, I'm gonna have to say (as a huge fan), I do miss the old Assassin's Creed games... The new ones, at least Origins and Odyssey, simply don't have the same charm as AC2, Brotherhood or AC4 Black Flag, and the series has really lost it's roots, as incredible as the visuals have become, they really should've stopped with AC3 (as it was originally supposed to be), Black Flag was still great, liked Rogue to, Unity as otherworldy graphics-wise, Syndicate had great characters... Origins and Odyssey feel really disconnected... I like RPG's, but they all feel very same/similar gameplay-wise, and what made Assassin's Creed unique really feels lost in the transformation to the RPG system...

    Yes on all points. The modern time portions are so meaningless that they were more of an annoyance in Origins than anything. The Desmond storyline was interesting and way more relevant. Now the modern story just feels like an add-on. As for ships.. they were introduced in AC3 but then there was the ship battle mini game that just felt like a computer card game until it was vastly improved in Black Flag. I give kudos to Ubisoft for trying new things: the territory system of Brotherhood, the ship battles of Black Flag, the combat of Origins, and now the RPG and engraving system of Odyssey. Many fans are mad and say it isn’t an AC game anymore but the truth is, these games have been evolving the whole time. 🤓

    I'm one of the increasingly fewer fans of the modern day story lines. One of the best things (to me at least) about the early AC games was how the two settings played off of each other. Following Desmond and his ancestors and watching how the Assassin/Templar struggle spanned the ages was one of the most interesting parts of the series for me personally. That being said however, I see why people are starting to find them distracting/boring at the least. I think the problem is that after they ended the Desmond modern day story, they didn't follow up with anything that moved it forward. Anything related to the bigger plot was hidden in PDFs or one off lines of dialog for the most part. Couple that with slow boring modern day game play (no parkour or combat sections anymore) and no wonder people can do with out them. Ubisoft put out boring/lazy modern day stuff and then says that players don't want it anymore. I think most players don't want it because it's not good. It's a shame really because I believe the two stories working together are what make the AC franchise stand out and something unique. Oh well, Odyssey is still a good game in my opinion. First one since Black flag that really hooked me in so I guess I'll take what I can get.

    This is just my personal preference, And I know a lot feel different. I don't like that they are trying harder to make your character into a super hero who can teleport stab around and shoot through walls and jump from any height and live. I like a bit more challenge, knowing I screwed up when I jumped the wrong way or having to reposition to get a kill instead of just shooting through the wall. Feels like they were trying to make it to easy, And I don't care that their is the excuse "they have a piece of eden". At a certain point, it just felt like they were making it to forgiving or easy going. However, I do really enjoy the fact that (for the most part) we have the option to not acquire these skills and can keep it more challenging for ourselves if we so choose.

    They should add extra effort on the Animus story and gameplay. If they do make Japan, I hope outside Animus the gameplay should be more like the Yakuza Series. You can explore the modern city, buy a house, assassinate people. climb buildings, gamble, do mini games, etc.. Just add a ubisoft flair to it and Boom, people would probably split on where to spend more time in. Outside the animus or inside.

    I've played about 20 hours or so, and I don't find it a grind. Yet, anyway. The world is engaging and I haven't become bored. The repetition will probably kick in eventually (I didn't completely finish Origins), but right now the game just feels and looks amazing and I am loving it.
    Also love playing as Kassandra.
    Note: i bought deluxe and do like the extra gear, but I don't think the microtransactions are necessary at all. Leveling feels organic at Normal. Sure the massive battles are hard, but they should be.

    I love the huuuge world with its gorgeous views, massive content, exploring and interacting. Battle system is pretty awesome too. Yay for Ikaros!
    What I don't like is the constant upgrading/engraving/dismantling of items. I got sick and tired of constantly being reminded to go through my inventory in search of upgrades, so I manily sold/dismantled stuff on a 50-50 basis and used my time exploring instead of micro managing my inventory.
    Also kinda miss the old climbing style where you had to carefully pick your way to the top. But that's a minor. Same goes for the voices of some of the npc's. What's with that stupid accent?
    Loved naval battle and the lieutenants system. That system is very well excecuted.

    • @Scoots_McGee
      @Scoots_McGee 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, it wasn't fully fleshed out as is was in Black Flag. It was only for a few story missions and was more shallow than Odyssey. Naval combat is still fun in Odyssey but I feel they stripped it down from Black Flag Naval combat a bit

    I wish that people treated you different for playing as Kassandra (I understand why the developers wouldn't have wanted to do this), but I was hoping people would treat you different for being female. One of my favourite lines by her comes from an earlier quest when they talk about men dying for going fight ___ and she says "guess its time you sent a woman". Even though they definitely swiped that line from Wonder Woman it was awesome. I want more of that type of interaction lol

    They microtransactions are completely ignored. After level 22 the xp boost becomes really attractive as the xp earned is not much at all. They actually made this cleverly so you have to spent much time in the game to experience it

    The modern day storyline should have died with Desmond.

  • @francisdhomer5910
    @francisdhomer5910 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    My opinion on the modern part of the game. With the first few games both the present and the past were interlinked. I felt like we were building up to some great conflict. As a mater of fact when Desmond was killed we had the perfect setup. I had figured we would see the story shift to the Assassins and Templars working together to stop what ever the plan was. Or the Templars working with Juno (Do I have the mane right it has been so long) and the Assassins scrambling to try to stop them. Instead it's like that whole story line was just forgotten.Bring conflict back into the present day and maybe people will become invested in it again. One thing I noticed in Odyssey is some quests have a time limit. That could be incorporated into the modern day, rushing through the past to find a solution to whatever evil is happening now. And since the game is going towards a RPG mode I feel that would be the way to go. What do everyone else think? And please feel free to disagree with what I have said and offer your own ideas. Who knows maybe the game designers are watching and will listen I think I just hurt myself saying that last part.

    Kassandra is passionate, caring, upbeat etc. IF YOU CHOOSE TO, you can also go for the complete opposite if you want, but that's you, not Kassandra's character. Exact same goes for Alexios only difference being the skin and voice.

    HEY. HEY HEY. HEY. HEY. HEY. WOAH NOW. HEY. HEY. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY. I'M NOT READY FOR KASSANDRA TO TAKE EZIO'S SPOTLIGHT. SHE NEEDS A SEQUEL TO HER STORY FIRST, TO GROW OLD AND ALL THAT, LIKE EZIO DID.

  • @myaudi13
    @myaudi13 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would agree with you on all of your likes, however, I feel Alexios to have the better look and personality between the two. I also don't mind the modern day stuff. Removing it would likely create a bigger problem since simulation of ancestry has been the core concept throughout the series. My only complaint is the loading, if you let Ikoras fly too far from you, then you have a loading screen and an animus reboot animation when you resume with Alexios/Cassandra. I realise that this is due to such a large map being available at all times versus loading chunks when you get there, its minor but I still dislike the loading. I also love/hate the mercenary system. I get being an assassin isn't exactly legal and breaking into a fort and killing guards should warrant a wanted level, but this meter fills fast and the mercenaries sometimes come at you levels higher than you. This is forcing a stealth style playthrough on a game that pitches rpg and play your way. I still like the mercenary concept, I would just like to see it dialed back a bit. This game is amazing and I encourage everyone that doesn't have it to purchase as soon as able.

    Kassandra in Atlantis in 2018, changes the modern and historical script of all the storylines.... it implies she was influential... if ubisoft chooses to build on this point... making the modern aspects relevant like never before...

    I've not had any modern days moments beyond the part after the prologue, I'm sure I will soon. I'm just having a lot of fun with the game.
    Had a rather fun fight about two hours ago or so while playing when I infiltrated a fort through a cave, I was seen as I got out and got into the usual fight only for two mercenaries to join the fray. They didn't get to hurt me much because I kicked them both into the hole I had climbed out of from the cave below and sniped them with my bow and arrow safely. Also did that to the fort's commanding officers.

    Have to disagree with point 2 as well. Even if you allow the guards to kill the disease infected family, later in the game Athens is destroyed by that plague when you get there. Makes no difference which route you take, In fact you get blamed as if you let the family live by certain NPC's whether you let them live or not.

    I kinda have to agree with the present day bits, there was maybe an hour if that of it in a 40 hour game, if they'd just cut those parts and changed the Is into something similar they could have just called it Odyssey instead, and I'm pretty sure many people would love it, I know I would

  • @714KH

    I'm trying to keep Kassandra goodhearted. Somewhat religious, but also witty and capapble of questionning the Gods. Though I feel like there are some dialogue choices that don't seem so bad to choose, and yet go completelty overboard. Like with one quest in the beginning, I just wanted to tell someone to chill "which I thought the option was going to do", and Kassandra practically shouted and threatened the character. It was completely off, and hella extra.

  • @Hawxaw
    @Hawxaw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Imagine thinking Kassandra is more upbeat than Ezio. Also Alexios and Kassandra are pretty much the same character. Alexios is better for tragedy while Kassandra is better for the hero's journey in terms of VO. But they're both equally good.
