Nice review, David. I'm sorry you had such a hard time setting up your desk. What made it simple for me was reading the instructions while also *watching* the youtube video instructions they email you of a guy showing you how to set it up. That really helped me understand what to do and see it from multiple angles. Hope you are still enjoying it as I am!

Good review! but instead of talking so much about the assembly, I wish you spent more time talking about the desk itself. Such as... the stability, does it wobble side to side or back and forth? does it seem like it would tip over at the higher height? etc. But thanks all the same. good job!

When I started working from home 5 years ago I set up a treadmill desk and it's worked out extremely well. I find I can walk at a slow pace for much longer than I can stand still. Plus it's easy to get 10k steps or more during a typical workday. The downside is you can't put a chair there where the treadmill is, so I have a separate normal desk for sitting. If you are not ready for a treadmill I highly recommend getting a nice memory foam mat to stand on!

I also got the Uplift desk and can’t stress enough how valuable adding on the caster wheels were. I highly recommend them if you need/want to move the desk to get at wires or just move it across the room.

That’s a great tip. I’m so glad I read this comment since I’ll likely be ordering this desk soon. Update: I bought one back in Nov 2020. I also go the saddle stool & the large fatigue pad. I would say it has been a game changer. My shoulder & back use to be so sore at the end of the day. After the initial period of getting use to standing I now feel fantastic at days end. So glad I got it.

      how does it effect stability?

    • @curiosityintrigue
      @curiosityintrigue 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@aguiremedia I got a 60 inch C frame to support the weight towards the back and corner braces at the top. I have two 27 inch monitors on it and other accessories. It is extremely stable. Every once in a while I’ll bump it at standing height and I will notice slight movement that’s almost not even worth mentioning. With normal use: typing or writing I don’t notice any wobble at all.

Oh, and I forgot to say I also got the medium duty casters as well. The desk is heavy-I couldn’t imagine trying to move it without them. With them it was a breeze. I locked the casters once in position, and it does not move.

I just had an online chat with Uplift. They partner with TaskRabbit for assembly and said it should take about an hour to put together ($40/hour fee). I'll gladly pay 2 hours ($80) to an experienced handyman then mess with trying to put this thing together myself.

While I didn’t have the same troubles putting the desk together as you did I find this review awesome! The desk is amazing besides the way they ship and if you aren’t good with tools this may take you over an hour to put together. They do have a video that helped me and it’s stupid they don’t advertise there is a video to help.

I can't recommend monitor arms for your desk the amazon basic stands which is an ergotron re-branded is amazing and gives you way more free real estate on you're desk - Also if you dont have already I'd get a really good office chair ...hermin miller areons are my pick but its work the money for the amount of time you sit in one

just got my 60x30 today and found the setup extremely easy. I did not get any options that involved screwing directly into the desktop, i refuse to screw holes into my 900 dollar desk. If they aren't pre-drilled I'm not doing it, lol. Overall this desk is awesome and I recommend it highly. Also, they have two monitor arm styles you can get and you can match the color of them to your desk. You can mount the arms into the grommet holes (either left or right) or directly to the desk.
Of all the desks I looked at I think the uplift is the best. I sold my evodesk to get the uplift, too.
The only thing I'm not 100% on right now is the foot hammock. It attaches to the frame, so that's a big win, but i can't seem to get it to the height I want yet. I'll keep messing with it though.

Hi David. Thanks for the video. I am wondering now, due to your experience with the keyboard tray, if that is the same method that other attachments would use, such as the pc holder. I don't see this as an issue, however it would probably cause me to just go to lowes and get parts to make custom pc (and ups) holders rather than purchase the pc holder uplift sells.

TLDR: Uplift will not exchange a faulty leg on a 1 week old desk. They will not honor their 15 year warranty and I do not recommend them to a new standing desk user.
I don't often make comments like this but I had a recent Uplift Desk experience that has bothered me.
I decided to go with Uplift desks mostly because of the warranty and customer service experience that some spoke of, while I understand they are overpriced, quality and customer experience is important to me so I did not mind.
My desk arrived less than a week ago and the right side leg was faulty out of the box it makes a knocking sound when lowered and my desk shakes back and forth. My girlfriend who shared my office labeled it as "annoying" without me telling her there was an issue and I agreed. I contacted their customer service team and provided them with pictures and a video that they require for proof, in the video you can clearly hear the knocking sound but it is difficult to tell the desk was shaking (filmed on my iphone). Here is their response:
    - "Good morning, I do appreciate the help. The warranty team did not notice an excess amount of movement or sounds. They did recommend if on carpet to loosen the Leveling Caps on the feet to give more support with the padding, and to possibly tighten the feet and legs. We do expect some movement in the desk. Please let me know if you have any questions or other details to share."
I adjusted the feet and the shaking and knocking persisted. I found it to still be an issue prevalent enough to bother my girlfriend and I as I transitioned the desk. I sent the video to my brother who said that his uplift desk did not make a similar knocking noise and shake while being lowered. I asked the customer service rep if the leg was covered under warranty as I am looking for a leg exchange not a new free leg. This was there follow up:
    - "Good morning, The leg does have some sound as it lowers fully. The warranty team was unable to capture anything outside normal movement and sounds with the prior video. If you have any other details please let me know and I can help send it to the team to review. Please let me know if you have any questions."
They charge a premium price and do not offer premium customer service or a premium product seemingly. I am just looking to swap my leg for another and was willing to cover shipping but their team will not cover a week old desk under their 15 year warranty, if you are considering uplift I would absolutely not recommend their company and if you have questions before you purchase PM me I would be happy to answer.
