  • Just added the Uplift V2 Standing Desk to my home office. In this video, I will show you how I set it up, how it looks and functions, and my thoughts on the desk including whether there's detectable wobble at standing heights.

    15:28 What is wrong with this guy? You can plug in a two-pronged plug into a three-pronged outlet. All wall outlets have three-prongs. How is this a negative?

    I was so sick and tired of browsing through many standing desks reviews. Each review I watched from other people made me so confused because they made it fancy with lights and so on.
    But you my friend, your review is excellent and just what I needed to hear. Thank you!

    I have had experience with both V2 standard and V2 Commercial frames, both of C-type. I currently own V2 Commercial for working at home. I think the Commercial version is more stable at higher height (especially above 40'') while at sitting height (about 30'' for me) the two versions are essentially identical in terms of stability. I am exactly 6' tall (182cm) and have had no problem like hitting the bar with my shins. However, something buyers should consider is that V2 Commercial is pretty heavy and bulky, making it hard to carry when moving. Also, the crossbar is visible and some may not like the look, not to mention that V2 Commercial is more expensive (+$80 as of now). If I could I would go with the V2 standard because I it was a real pain moving the V2 Commercial frame to a third floor apartment with no elevator.

    Two things: It seems to me that there is no harm having that grommet 3 prong. In fact, I prefer having all my outlets 3 prong, so I can use them for anything. Second, Can't you just fold that cable over itself before it goes into the snake? Doesn't seem like there are really any negatives here for that accessory.

    TLDR: Uplift will not exchange a faulty leg on a 1 week old desk. They will not honor their 15 year warranty and I do not recommend them to a new standing desk user.
    I don't often make comments like this but I had a recent Uplift Desk experience that has bothered me.
    I decided to go with Uplift desks mostly because of the warranty and customer service experience that some spoke of, while I understand they are overpriced, quality and customer experience is important to me so I did not mind.
    My desk arrived less than a week ago and the right side leg was faulty out of the box it makes a knocking sound when lowered and my desk shakes back and forth. My girlfriend who shared my office labeled it as "annoying" without me telling her there was an issue and I agreed. I contacted their customer service team and provided them with pictures and a video that they require for proof, in the video you can clearly hear the knocking sound but it is difficult to tell the desk was shaking (filmed on my iphone). Here is their response:
    - "Good morning, I do appreciate the help. The warranty team did not notice an excess amount of movement or sounds. They did recommend if on carpet to loosen the Leveling Caps on the feet to give more support with the padding, and to possibly tighten the feet and legs. We do expect some movement in the desk. Please let me know if you have any questions or other details to share."
    I adjusted the feet and the shaking and knocking persisted. I found it to still be an issue prevalent enough to bother my girlfriend and I as I transitioned the desk. I sent the video to my brother who said that his uplift desk did not make a similar knocking noise and shake while being lowered. I asked the customer service rep if the leg was covered under warranty as I am looking for a leg exchange not a new free leg. This was there follow up:
    - "Good morning, The leg does have some sound as it lowers fully. The warranty team was unable to capture anything outside normal movement and sounds with the prior video. If you have any other details please let me know and I can help send it to the team to review. Please let me know if you have any questions."
    They charge a premium price and do not offer premium customer service or a premium product seemingly. I am just looking to swap my leg for another and was willing to cover shipping but their team will not cover a week old desk under their 15 year warranty, if you are considering uplift I would absolutely not recommend their company and if you have questions before you purchase PM me I would be happy to answer.

  • @thestormlscoming

    Thanks for the review. I wonder if you don’t notice any wobble because you’re flush against the wall. If we have monitor arms attached, the desk can’t be against the wall. Also why do you think having a three prong power adapter is bad? That’s way better. You can still plug a lamp into it.

  • @MOAB-UT
    @MOAB-UT ปีที่แล้ว

    Three prong simply gives you more options. If you have a drill, you can add a USB terminal easily. More important, how is your desk holding up?

    Nice review. I had a desk before but the under wire management didn't come with mine. I do want a slide out keyboard tray so the top is clean when I don't need the tray and I guess the 60 inch is a nice size but I guess I'd go for the 72 inch because I'd have my gaming set up on one end with my headphones....lol. Oh! another thing I forgot to mention, I got from amazon a clamp surge protector that had USB ports for charging and just attached it to the back.

    I just assembled mine and it took 6.5 hours across two days. Travis didn't go for any options, such as the keyboard tray and the slim under-desk drawer. Once you get off the main path into some customization, the documentation quality drops way off. Parts of it were flat-out inaccurate; parts were non-specific (after several sentences specifying when to use a machine screw and when to use a wood screw, it says 'use another screw to attach the bumper'; which screw is another screw?). Worst of all, parts were self-contradictory, simultaneously telling you DO and DON'T do something. They are trying to work around several different desk models and the version I was going for simply lacked illustrations, so I could not tell -- even with online searches -- what the final assembly would look like.
    The quality of the desk is fantastic; it arrived beautifully and carefully packed; customer service is friendly. But that documentation--- far below average. And since you build the desk upside down, that was most of a day on my hands and knees. Factor that into your buying decision; it turns into quite the core workout!

    • @TravisMedia
      @TravisMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unwanted desk movement due to there not being any corner braces on the commercial frame which are found on the standard only.

    • @malverdetx8582
      @malverdetx8582 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TravisMedia you are absolutely wrong! It specifically says that the cross member adds more stability in the second paragraph. It has nothing to do with those braces. At least be accurate. People who are looking for the most stable desk and follow your incorrect review will end up with the wrong version.

    • @jenniferstephenson
      @jenniferstephenson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@malverdetx8582 On Reddit r/StandingDesk Uplift answers a lot of questions. Here's a quote from Uplift themselves when asked this question.
      "Just looking at them, you immediately see one difference: the V2-Commercial model has a crossbar, and the V2 does not.
      The V2 frame is designed with optimal stability in mind - it has 45 degree support brackets right underneath where the desktop sits. The majority of my customers are 100% happy with the V2.
      The V2-Commercial frame is designed to meet BIFMA standards of the average individual’s height, so we lower the overall height range a few inches. In short: I recommend the V2-Commercial frame for individuals 5’2” and under, otherwise you will love the V2 frame and appreciate that extra leg room. You are good to go with the V2-frame. I am 6'3 and it gets higher than I would ever need.
      The stability between the two is pretty negligible at average heights. They each have their strengths (V2 is a tad more stable at higher settings than the V2-Commercial, and vice versa for lower settings)."
      Also, Deskhaus has their own TH-cam video (Which Uplift Desk Would I Buy?) comparison of the two where he demonstrates that the crossbar makes no difference in stability by loosening it and comparing.
