Not harder simpler. We don't have to get out and crank the engine over anymore either. We can adjust the passenger mirror without getting out. Hell, we don't even have to use our hands to signal a turn!!

Ya it is pretty stupid. But, on modern vehicles you only need a dipstick when you have a leak. The vehicle tells you when you need an oil change and is accurate so at least theres that. Plus a lot of places now put the mileages for oil changes on stickers on your windshield. Still should have a dipstick. Turbo engines and oil problems unfortunately go hand in hand.

German car owners have been complaining about this for YEARS and we’ve been super vocal that we want our dip sticks back, they even still include where the dip stick it but there’s a plug meaning you have to find an aftermarket dip stick, why in the world would ram take it away

Transmission oil dipstick is one thing, but not having a engine oil dipstick is pretty stupid. I’m a person that likes to look at the oil to see what kind of condition it’s in. I guess they’re going to save 20 bucks or so per unit by not having one. Why don’t they just put both a real dipstick and a digital level sensor so we don’t have to assume that the digital level is right
No, they're actually already failing well within the warranty period. Plenty are failing with just 10-15k miles on the clock. They overheat and grenade (a feature chrysler has built into their cars for many years now LOL)

the 3.6l pentastar v6 is one of the most reliable engines out there, I have seen tons of them with over 200,000 miles. More reliable than the 5.7 v8 which eats camshafts.

I've owned a few Dodge/Ram vehicles in the past, and currently have a bare bones basic 2018 Promaster 1500 that was converted into a camper. I bought that as the Pentastar seems pretty decent, and the transmission is a simple 6 speed auto that's been around forever. If it had a Turbo, or one of these new transmissions I would not have bought it. I wanted something proven, and even so I still bought it with some trepidation. The Dipstick is the least of this new Hurricane's issues.

No dipstick means when the miles stack up and leaks and you cant do a simple check can cause many owners to lose their engine. The electronic oil check can malfunction and read wrong
As a mechanic I can tell you this is a MASSIVE mistake. The electronic telltale on German cars is a constant fail point. You have to run the engine for 15 minutes to check level, inevitable that this will cost people big $$ at some point. It probably won't affect warranty claims but a Big deal down the road for owners and resale.

Probably shouldn't be doing your own oil changes if you don't properly drain your oil to where you will overfill it by adding the correct amount back in
Practically driving Soda cans on wheels at this point… but I’ll choose quality over quantity any day. Some things should never change… like replacing keys with fobs.. and replacing the tree with an electronic knob looks and feels so cheap. Also nothing like throwing the vehicle into park trying to turn on the wipers… would have been nice if they had some standard on vehicle design..

I literally have not changed the oil in any one of my cars over the last decade and I’ve had multiple vehicles without ever pulling any dipstick out because I have my vehicles maintained at the local shops here in Michigan. Sensors work fine and when something doesn’t work you stop driving your vehicle until the failure is addressed.

I was down for a 500 hp factory i6, but no dipstick is a nogo. We will be buying f150s for my company next time we buy fleet trucks for property maintenance and people who dont want personal trucks for work

They probably use sensors to warn when the oil should be changed - meaning a warranty issue. If you drive with low oil a damage claim might be denied?

RAM would gain the confidence and respect of many customers if their engines had transmission fluid AND oil dip sticks.
