Even if I quite enjoyed forces (mostly with the avatar) I admit that is a dissappointed game
You could’ve obviously told that the game would have been shit it was allegedly made by same people who made the atrocious colors and generations(I know that the sonic team at that time didn’t which only added fuel to the fire) and guess what that game is shit way worse than shadow the hedgehog actually which is so sad
Does anyone want to complain, I’m ok with bad games (mainly for the memes) but I hate seeing a lot of them. The people at SEGA are still learning what’s good and what’s bad and I respect that. Besides, maybe the next game will work out for the better ... starting with the end of the boost formula. I like it, but it will get old soon if it hasn’t.
Thirdocean I’m pretty sure that the game was developed by 3 people. One worked on either Boom or Lost World, and the others were total newbies.

this game got me hyped for forces since the true ending for this game introduces classic sonic into forces, and also implys that the phantom ruby is connected to infinite.

Conclusion: This is the best 2D Sonic game, but it just _cannot stand on its own_ with how much it borrows from earlier games. (And yet I think Generations is the second-best Sonic game ever.)

Then again, I'm old enough that I was still a kid when Sonic 2 did first come out. And back then, it blew my mind in every way that Sonic Mania does nowadays. This game is just BEAUTIFUL!

Inklink I saw a series that was deep in 3D games, made a game that brought it back to its roots, while adding new features.
Sonic Mania is waaaaay better than any Zelda game.
Link Between Worlds was boring as shit and had a number of fundamental differences between itself and Link to the Past; buying equipment instead of finding them is quite the difference...
I dont see how. Zelda was never doing bad like sonic so there's no reviving of the franchise needed. it’s free real estate The original Sonic the Hedgehog was a hard game. It makes perfect sense for Sonic Mania to be hard as the original Genesis games. Though at least you can save after every act.
Some require a bit of thought before being able to damage them, I loved the spider boss and Metal Sonic fights (specifically the part involving the Silver Sonics), the Mean Bean Machine was piss easy if you can understand the whole "match 4 of the same color" deal, Robotnik isn't even trying in that one. I have no clue how to avoid the weather machine's wind attack, though...

I just want to say that the level design in this game is flawless. Remember that just because he didn't address any issues with the level design doesn't mean he's blinded. The level design in Sonic Mania is hard and is supposed to be unique. This game isn't an easy modern game. This is a game with legitimate difficulty

What triggered me when playing sonic mania was when you go on a sonic and tails save file and turn on &Knuckles mode. It just replaces tails with knuckles instead of having all of team sonic.

an addition to this, the special edition statue is just amazing.
Thank you for bringing up the lack of zone transitions. Apart from the first two zones, only new zones got them and most of them are just "Sonic got warped away by the Phantom Ruby". Even the act transitions got a little lackluster, like how Press Gardens act 1 boss makes a blinding flash to hide the teleport into act 2, then you're forced to walk right and the screen locks you out of the boss arena when the act starts. The game has a lack of consistency that makes it feel like it wanted to be just like S3&K with its style but its unfinished and didn't get the last bit of polish needed to bring it all together.

I completely agree. & Knuckles mode is the best feature. You'd never expect something so silly out of an actual Sonic game but we get it anyway! I love it. Mean bean machine boss is great for the same reason and it is also a fantastic feature as well.

With that Sonic plush at the beginning, I actually had (or have, heck if I know where it is) and for me I'm pretty sure it was the low demonic glitchy voice due to the batteries since you can't replace the batteries since there's no place to open up the plush for some reason. Either way, it was fun to mess with.
So glad I bought the collector's edition of this game and met Tyson Hesse and got an autographed print from him at Anime Expo

So glad i'm not the only one who thinks the ending felt rushed. What happened to the heavies & how did Sonic end up in the death egg anyway? Same goes for the zone transitions. Going from Press Garden to Stardust Speedway made no sense to me

Seeing this in 2018 is gonna get better with Plus DLC and having the transictions and more Super Sonic animation, an Encore Mode and Mighty and Ray returning and Angel Island a bit playerble (is so short). Yeah the best Sonic game ever.

Even the good ending is disappointing? Well that's gonna discourage me from ever getting all of the Chaos Emeralds on a different run. I know that most longtime Sonic fans will view it as heresy to finish the game with only a few emeralds, but the special stages were simply too difficult for me. And the ending you get for not having the emeralds is incredibly infuriating ...
