    same thing with Bootmod3 with an N55 motor. Stage 1 is great, nice gains. Stage 2, not so much. A high-flow downpipe really does help as well. Thanks for posting, that's a quick little beast!

    Great vid! The reason why the other runs were invalid was because slope was greater than 1%. It has to be within -1 to 1% to be considered valid!

    I've owned a stick m240i for 4 years now. Crazy the performance difference between AWD auto vs RWD manual, in the 0-60 of course. Would love to see some data logs. Stage 2 is hit and miss with timing and trims on the b58, in my experience of owning two.

    • @mevans8646
      @mevans8646  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I noticed my timing wasn’t that great when I did some data logs in my last video about the VANOS. I’m still getting 3-4deg of correction at lower RPMs and even up to 7 at higher RPMs. I’m fairly new to datalogging and tuning so I’m not sure exactly how bad those are relative to what they should be though.

    • @mstegs5477
      @mstegs5477 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mevans8646 It has been a few years since I looked but the n54tech forums has a lot of great info on logging. It's for JB4 specifically but data logging is the same.
      "Of more importance is watching out for sharp drops of more than 3 degrees in the engine high torque/power band…. typically in the > 4500 rpm range. Sharp drops of 3 degrees from one scan to the next indicate potential knock activity and are a general indication that the boost curve may be set too high for the available octane. Drops randomly throughout runs especially on pump grade fuels are expected but repeated drops in the same gear indicate an overly aggressive tune."
      Have you tried e85? I use to run a 2 or 3 gallons with shell 93 and timing was noticeably better. If you have crap fuel, even crap 93 it may not like it. Only thing you got to keep an eye on is trims when you add e85. It should drop to low 40s in the high rpm range.

    • @mevans8646
      @mevans8646  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mstegs5477 I’m nowhere near ethanol pumps, nearest one is 30 mins away but it’s known for having bad E85. The good one is about 45 mins away. But here’s a link to my logs, if you take a look and let me know how they look I’d appreciate it. I may put in some octane booster just to see if that makes a difference. This is for a stage 2 93 tune using Mobil 1 93 gas.

    Anyone know what kind of 0-60 times you'll get with a non x-drive on stage 1? Seems like stock vs stock the x-drive is 2-3 tenths quicker but there's lots of conflicting info

  • @fryguyslim
    @fryguyslim 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It’s invalid due to unleveled road. U have over a 1% down slope that’s considered too much of an advantage.

  • @JeeperZJ
    @JeeperZJ ปีที่แล้ว

    Part of the reason for the smaller difference between stage 1 and 2 is likely due to the transmission tune. You can tweak the settings in xhp and likely pick up a couple more tenths. On the stock TCU the difference between stage 1 and 2 is more noticeable but the factory settings are your limiting factor. Also noticed you didn't use any sort of launch control for the runs and I would be curious to see if that plays any difference.

    • @mevans8646
      @mevans8646  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on exactly when the car was manufactured. I believe I remember it being a manufacture date of 6/2020 or afterwards has a software version that is locked for tuning. If you plan on tuning, there were basically zero changes between the 2018-2021 for these cars. I’d look into an earlier model year just to save some cash. If you get one with a locked DME you can always bring it to a shop to get it bench unlocked which should only be a few hundred dollars. It used to be that you needed to send the DME to some guy in Russia but I’d ask in a local group who offers bench unlocks.
