Great video. Thank you. Please tell me what I can do to my 2018 stock 340i without voiding the warranty. I have about six months remaining on the original warranty, then one additional year on the Certified Preowned Warranty.
There is a gray area there.. If you bring you car in for some serious engine issues and JB4 is attached than they can void your warranty. But it would be only warranty related to the engine. IF you are running a JB-4 than take it out before going to the dealer. These days Bootmod3 flash is the way to go anyway.

Transfer cases are known to be destroyed by these tunes on the 4 cylinders, the tunes will wear them out faster as the plastic worm gear spins quicker and the 4 cylinder vibrations wear them down.

Or is the dyno just to see your gains and not necessarily a performance benefit ?
Can you do a review on the Mg Map or at least give your commentes here ? How do you find the Maps ? Safe ? Knocks? Timing? Compared to bm3 & mhd? Love you
I ran the back-end flash for a while and while it is a good option I would not recommend it considering how much better flash tunes have gotten. BEF is a concept used a lot by N54 guys because flash tuning was so limited in N54. This video was aimed more towards power at the motor rather than complete platform upgrades but I did mention an LSD and trans upgrade at some points.
Coming from the Audi world I'm disappointed in the flash tune market a bit. With Audi there are a few reputable companies that have a TON of information available and its easy to do your research. For BMW flash tunes the websites all look janky and its honestly hard to know who to trust. Any guidance on this market? Am I missing something? Dinan is the only name in the BMW world I'm familiar with and they don't seem to offer much for the b58.
There really are only a handful of software suites. MHD, BM3, MG Flasher, Ecutek, Dinan, and JB4. They all offer OTS maps except for ECUTEK, as that is tuner specific. JB4 is a piggyback, and Dinan offers both.
@@NoClutchGarage Thank you for the quick reply! This is really helpful. Are there a couple of these that have the best reputations? I've come across a couple of these myself but not much info reviewing them.
Hi, that would be a n55 engine, the successor to the n54, crazy awesome mod friendly engines. It goes up to 500whp easily. Probably would want just over 400 or on or under 400whp for daily and reliability. Howd you go? Still have the sexy f32 4 series? 🙂👌
I do not think B48 is as developed as B58 but in any case the engines are very similar as they are part of the B modular family of engines so I would guess yes the same process could apply.
Hey man I am thinking about buying a used 2020 m340i xdrive but I just fear of the reliability long term. I know people say the b58 is really reliable but have you had any problems? I would want to keep the car for awhile. Has yours been expensive to maintain?
This is aimed at the gen 1 B58, the Gen 2 or B58TU has a similar but different mod path. About the biggest difference is in HPFP upgrades. B58TU doesn’t have an upgrade option (Spool has one in the works), when they do coke out then yes I would adhere to this guide, otherwise just add PI if you need more fueling.
Hey man watched multiple videos about the B58, yours seem to stick out the most. My new one will be here next week and I’m looking to make some changes. Wondering if you have a way to communicate? Social media or email? Thank you! Love the material
I didn’t understand the part where u said that u shouldn’t push the turbo to much.Did u mean that there’s a certain amount of power the turbo can handle you shouldn’t go above that 13:05

XHP is the trans remap and I mentioned it I believe
Great video. Thank you. Please tell me what I can do to my 2018 stock 340i without voiding the warranty. I have about six months remaining on the original warranty, then one additional year on the Certified Preowned Warranty.
Don’t do anything to it.
My first upgrade was a jb4 then I got a mst intake my next will be downpipe
Wait....JB-4 doesn't void warranty? Or is it dealer dependent?
There is a gray area there.. If you bring you car in for some serious engine issues and JB4 is attached than they can void your warranty. But it would be only warranty related to the engine. IF you are running a JB-4 than take it out before going to the dealer. These days Bootmod3 flash is the way to go anyway.
Flash tune yes, I personally don’t like BM3
@@NoClutchGarage Why? I think for Stage 1 it's fine.
Great video, good value for money these things, hopefully get this soon and will be probably going stage 2 tune and the tranny tune, very informative video!
Appreciate that!
Great video mate. Waiting for some more power on that motor
I got 2020 m340ixd just order cts turbo intake down pipe charge pipe and inlet thinking about bm3 tune
Very in-depth video. It honestly does help me make my decision coming from the Japanese tuner world (Subaru). I am stepping into the Euro world soon and I am curious if an AOS or a catch can would be perfect since it help bypass and redirect the pcv line?
Catch can will not change anything unless you close off the intake port and leave the crankcase ventilator VTA.
To the point video! Well done
Would Xdrive fail or get damaged from any of these tunes? What hp should the car stay under to keep the xdrive system healthy?
No, all my cars have been xDrive
Under 650
Transfer cases are known to be destroyed by these tunes on the 4 cylinders, the tunes will wear them out faster as the plastic worm gear spins quicker and the 4 cylinder vibrations wear them down.
I noticed you didn’t mention the Dinah flash tune? Any experience with that product? It’s obviously a trusted BMW brand.
DINAN changed owners, BMW no longer supports them as a trusted tuner that I know of but Steve Dinan created Carbahn which is also an alternative.
Great info as always
yao, whats better on 93 pump only with pure 800 the b58 or gen 2 b58, and how much power expect out of both ?
Excellent video, interesting and informative 🇯🇲
I am looking at purchasing a 540i soon and I am wondering how noisy the car would get with the Downpipe mod? I would like to have a super quiet car when doing 70-80 mph on the motorway without any droning etc. Would the downpipe make the car noisy even when cruising at these speeds?
Thanks in advance...
I have a video on my channel but its not loud at all and there is no drone. I have a 5inch downpipe and a res delete
Novice question you said upgrade LSD? Can you explain 😅
Limited Slip Differnetial… basically will help keep your wheels locked on launch to put all the power to the ground more efficiently
Can I get to the same power, like your last car, if it’s not xdrive ?
Of course!
At what point would you need to upgrade to a air to air intercooler on the gen1 B58?
Never.
thanks for this video bro. Could you make a specifi video of blow off valves for this car?
No need for blow off valve at the moment
Our new supras ain't cheap. We gotta unlock the ecu, get ecutek, license, downpipe, and pay for tune. Costing about $2000 just for a downpipe tune.
I have an m340i and was wondering I should worry about transmission when pushing around 700-750 hp
Yes because it is the same transmission!
Thanks for the reply! What do u suggest I do? An XHP flash? The pure drivetrain solutions are quite expensive atm
Hello! Nice and informative video! I have a question, I have a 1st gen b58 bmw 540i xdrive, stage 2, I want to upgrade hpfp only for 20-30hp gain and +10% fuel economy, are those numbers realistic?
No
Is going the upgraded turbo route making my car unreliable? Or you think i could daily it for a while?
You can definitely daily it at an adequate power level
You have mod recommendations for a b58 F32 stage 3 time ????? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 great video btw
What do you mean by stage 3? Stages are just arbitrary names for a set of mods. I would be able to better guide you if you told me your goals and current mods
@@NoClutchGarage my F32 / B58 car is AWD and I have an eagle eye “stage 1” tune , catless down pipe , BMS air intake. With a M performance exhaust. Which roughly gave me 80-95 WHP / wheel torque. Id like to get a bit more on the HP , torque , performance.
@@NoClutchGarageI did a stage 1 “custom” tune with eagle eye , Catless downpipe , BMS air intake. I had increase of 9 WHP and about 90 torque. I’m looking to get a bit more HP and torque. What would be some suggestions ?
Do these have the fuel pump/injector and water pump issues of the n54? Isn’t the wp mechanical again? I wrecked my n54 e60 and went to an old Honda because of how unreliable the n54 was but with car prices coming down soon and my new job I’m looking to get back into something fun again. B58 is still currently out of my range so I’ll probably wait till we get a pay adjustment and first year raise with my airline but I’ll be buying a bmw again.
This is completely different motor and philosophy. Not those issues at all.
Another great video...do I smell an m340i on the channel soon? Haha
Haha we shall see!
I’m new to this. I got a 2020 m240ix still under warranty. It doesn’t have the mperformance exhaust. I did install a dinan mid pipe. What stage 1 should I get that’s safe? If I get a down pipe I take it that would be stage 2. Now again i apologize for being a noob. Doing a tune does that involve the car being dynoed ? Or is the dyno just to see your gains and not necessarily a performance benefit ?
OTS maps should be relatively safe but honestly any time you modify your car you are putting it at risk.
Crazy though, fast track to now days jb4 took a bmw into 9s
Very different platform and approach. JB4 has its utility, I just don’t believe it’s meant for seriously fast vehicles.
Can you do a review on the Mg Map or at least give your commentes here ? How do you find the Maps ? Safe ? Knocks? Timing? Compared to bm3 & mhd? Love you
Those videos are literally about a week out
@@NoClutchGarage Can you review MG flasher and how it has treated you thus far, great vid idea.
Those videos are already recorded just have to edit them and upload them 😁
How much power could I make on 92 pump
stock b58 is around 390 hp, how i stage 2 around 410
What about jb4 with MHD back end flash into meth injection, then LSD then big turbo.
Great content!
Can I ask you something please? What tuning potential has the bmw m435i f32? Thanks in advance
Hi, that would be a n55 engine, the successor to the n54, crazy awesome mod friendly engines. It goes up to 500whp easily.
Probably would want just over 400 or on or under 400whp for daily and reliability.
Howd you go? Still have the sexy f32 4 series? 🙂👌
Nice Video thank you 🙏
You willing to say what power you made on your kill map?
B58tu already has the upgraded HPFP stock
B58TU has a stock B58TU pump. THINK!
I got a 2019 440i coupe i want to tune it up a bit should i just do the basic 3 mods u said in the beginning what do u recommend
Downpipe,tune, HPFP
I’ve heard an issue about scoring cylinder walls, should I be worried about that issue?
No
Would you recommend this path for b48 users
I do not think B48 is as developed as B58 but in any case the engines are very similar as they are part of the B modular family of engines so I would guess yes the same process could apply.
Hey man I am thinking about buying a used 2020 m340i xdrive but I just fear of the reliability long term. I know people say the b58 is really reliable but have you had any problems? I would want to keep the car for awhile. Has yours been expensive to maintain?
Mine has been expensive because I have always been pushing it, generally they’re not expensive to maintain
@@NoClutchGarage so if I push it in a sense it wont be that reliable ?
@@NoClutchGarage is your expensive because you mod it ? Or it’s just breaking down
Mods. Otherwise no unexpected failures.
do you recommend this mod setup for the new 2023 m340i xdrive?
This is aimed at the gen 1 B58, the Gen 2 or B58TU has a similar but different mod path. About the biggest difference is in HPFP upgrades. B58TU doesn’t have an upgrade option (Spool has one in the works), when they do coke out then yes I would adhere to this guide, otherwise just add PI if you need more fueling.
My Man! Great Video broski!👍😎
Is a 6sp a must with b58 cars or can the auto deal with quite a bit of power ?
6sp is the worst thing you could do on a B58 BMW
@@NoClutchGarage I'm listening. Can u explain a little. I'm getting ready to buy a 2018 340i auto.
It’s hard to find an aftermarket clutch that can hold good torque. Autos are very quick and hold good torque
Does the tu pump make any difference on the same tune? Lets say im stage 1 93oct with gen1 pump, upgrading to tu pump gives any gain?
Very very slightly
So the flash tune works on the locked ecu?
On any ECU produced before 6/21… others require a bench unlock
Hey man watched multiple videos about the B58, yours seem to stick out the most. My new one will be here next week and I’m looking to make some changes. Wondering if you have a way to communicate? Social media or email? Thank you! Love the material
Yes I believe I tag my Instagram on all my videos!
Awesome 👏🏻 thanks…
Do i need to upgrade the high pressure fuel pump if i’m not upgrading the turbo?
No, I wouldn’t.
you crush the CTS cone?
It’s not crushed, that happens to some cones over time if they’re dirty.
Do this for the new g82 series plz! S58
Will do once I get some seat time on an S58!
I blew my pcv 2 days ago 😂 I knew I should of got a vaydor solution cap but I was trying be cheap
That cap on its own is useless
Any cons to running the stock 0W-20 with catless dp and stage 2 OTS tune?
You generally don’t want an oil that is thin when pushing the performance of your car because of lubrication issues.
How much power do you think can be reached with catless DP ,MHD stage 2 with the TU hpfp on e40 ?
Around 470 hp 550 tq
Every motor is different
I didn’t understand the part where u said that u shouldn’t push the turbo to much.Did u mean that there’s a certain amount of power the turbo can handle you shouldn’t go above that 13:05
Absolutely… the stock turbo is not that big.
@@NoClutchGarageis the stock turbo sufficient for botmod3 stage 2?
Apparently, Supras do have an upgraded fuel pump in 2024.
How reliable are these b58s considering getting one ?
Very
Why not go port injection before high pressure fuel pump?
You can do that… I didn’t though
Would I be able to run e85 cause I don’t really want to mix fuels every time
Yes. The reason why I recommend upgraded pump first is because you can control the pump via DME instead of having to buy a PI kit and a controller. It’s a safer path to take and you can get to secondary fueling later when you actually really need it.
Would u go meth route again esp after it caused the fire?
