as a Mercedes Benz technician I would highly suggest anything from 2008-2018. no 4 cylinders or diesel. all these cla,a class cars are junk stick with the v6's or v8's
@@blazeit822 C Class or E Class would be the most reliable. Heck they are used as taxi cab in Germany and most European countries. Most of them were in the 500000km range when they flooded the market and still running like new. I had a CLK350 at 280000km and never had a problem since I got it at 70000km. Also had a 2007 E350 from 110000km to 240000km and only repair I needed to do was the radiator and it cost around $400 for a new one. Now a happy owner of a C300, currently at 190000km, only problem so far is the front passenger ABS sensor but it wasn’t the sensor itself, just some wiring and cost me $80 to fix and the common brown ground cable in one of the tail light which cost $40 to fix at an electrician. Maybe I got lucky with my vehicle I don’t know but I love my current car and hope it lasts for at least 400000km as I drive quite a bit everyday. All the previous Mercedes I sold were still on their stock suspension before I sold them. I think that’s incredible German engineering there. Mercedes V6 especially late M272 and M276 are extremely bulletproof, M276 might get some problem with its HPFP due to DI engine but it is only a $500 fix and the failure rate is not even that high
@@KseRBanshee Alright exactly what I thought. I currently own a 2002 E320 and that shit is clean and never had any problems with it mechanically. I’ll look into the E350s or a clk350
We’ve had the S class, C class and currently still have the ML class and never had any issues with any of them! All of them were certified pre owned and looking forward to our next one.
After 2 years of off and on research, this airline pilot just bought a pre-owned, very low mile 2014 CLS 550. An almost bullet-proof W278 V8 TT and aside from an air-ride suspension that I have $2,000 set aside in the bank to rebuild in 3 years, should be an easy to maintain chassis.
I still drive my sporty 2003 Mercedes E320. Just had minor issues this year with vibration on steering wheel, but is all fixed now for $200. Only 115,000 miles. (My fancy cup holder broke. About it.) Still drives like new! 17 years!
As a car enthusiast I love your videos however as i review many of your past videos it clear your more into describing the "bling" rather than details describing the mechanical issues. Just a suggestion mix in more mechanicals
Mercedes Benz is an expensive luxury brand so of course you can expect maintenance to be high but I feel some of the problems people experience is when the try to own on a shoestring budget. If you defer the maintenance to save money it will end up costing you more money.
I bought a used 2007 S Class two years ago. Still have the car. Paid $10K and invested another 10K in it and now it is all sorted out. Greatest drive I have ever had. Average annual maintenance it abour $3K but it is a tank with surprising performance. Use a lot of premium fuel but I love that car and will keep it for a while.
My s class electric ⚡️ chair and self driving features kept failing. I sold it after warranty because Mercedes’ wouldn’t fix. They just kept putting a fuse in and sending me home
I live in Germany and my family has owned every generation of the mercedes ML (all Second hand bought) and they were always reliable and never broke down little repairs nothing big maybe luck?
Same here in Sweden. My parents now have a E280 -07 since new. A total of 2 parts so far for a couple of $100 each has been replaced. Were some suspension part or linkage. The 1:st one could be seen as premature. But that's all. Nothing since.
The first ML was notorious in the US. I knew someone who had his at the dealer for two months. And the first version rode really firmly which was not great on some US roads. But I know people who’ve had good luck with later versions.
My two CLK’s (2000 CLK320 and a 2001 CLK55) were the most reliable cars I have ever owned. Cheaper to maintain than my F150 and much better fit and finish then my top of the line Accord.
Love my CLK350, one of the best car, no repair done up until 280000km when I sold it. And I did muffler delete and pushed it every single day on that car. M272 is bulletproof for real!
Americans prefer reliability first. Europe prefer luxury and performance first. I've done my research and the w210 v6 and V8 from 2000 to 2002 Chrysler era we're the best cars for high mileage driving Americans. I currently own a 2005 E320 and I'm going to add a 2002 clk 320 to the stable.
Remember in Germany you have free speed limit some cars need to handle 250- 300 km/h in everyday use. If you want German car always choose the one made in Germany.
I have had a convertible 2004 clk. For 13 years. Done 100,000 ks and have had no major problems. Just an oil leak from the auto that they fixed under warranty when the car was 6 years old! No rust. No service issues. And it still looks and goes like new.
You’re spot on. We purchase one new in 06, and it looks and runs great at 225,000 miles. It’s an absolute beast !! Oh - the fuel mileage has actually gone up to 40 mpg. Go figure lol
I have no idea what this guy is talking about. He knows BMWs but is out of his lane about Benz. I've had different Mercedes Benz for over 30 years and NEVER had any of these problems. I've been driving the same ML350 for 15 years with none of these problems. I've had a 2016 C300 for almost 5 years and it runs like a top. I've had an S class also and had no problems...The only problems I've had is reckless drivers that have run into me and TOTALLED two of my Benz cars. I even know several people who like Benz...For those who like them, take care of them, and do the scheduled maintenance...they have NEVER had problems. As for corrosion - If one lives in snow areas where lots of salt is spread on the ground, one should expect corrosion. This man should know there is no corrosion in non-snow states. I'm really beginning to think this guy is getting paid to BAD MOUTH cars.
I agree. He literally talking trash about literally EVERY Mercedes model. As if Benz are the only used cars that have maintenance and repairs as they age. Yes they cost more...but they have more complex and more expensive parts that tend to last longer than more mainstream brand cars🤦🏽♂️
Im in canada. Never met a happy Mercedes benz owner. Bmw way more popular. Àudi building a 4 story dealership in toronto. Mercedes just not that big in ontario.
I agree. Except that the w210 actually was a rust bucket. You should be able to use it in snow areas without rust appearing everywhere after a while. They had problems with that even when new. Not every one of them. But many, many. The w211 already was far better. Especially the face lift. BIG difference to the w210. So they should have done a much better job on the w210. It was the paint that was bad. Some new "environment friendly" crap. And some cheap steel from China. Some idiot at the purchase department thought he could save a couple of $ by buying it there instead. Turned out the steel was contaminated and of lower quality. Who would have thought.. Being MB that's not something you should ever do. Maybe if you build Trabants it should be expected.
Yup bought my 2016 e350 for 17k love it it has 100k miles but all highway runs great no issues! No matic, no air bag subspension.. no turbos it’s perfect for keeping around a while
I tested out an 09 C63 AMG, 6.2L and it was a beast. Main reason I didn’t go for it was the seats were so narrow, it was uncomfortable. I think the electronic bolsters were shot or something. Still would love to get one. Incredible speed and exhaust note.
I have been fortunate with my 2 SLs. I bought my 2001 SL500 when it was 8 years old for about 1/6 of what it cost new. It’s 21 years old now 150,000km and it looks and works like new inside and out. Everything works and it has been very reliable. I bought my 2010 SL63 AMG with 16,000km 4 years ago for a little more than 1/3 of what it cost new. It has one tiny, tiny paint chip, but otherwise, one might think it just came out of the showroom. I guess the verdict is still out on its reliability, because I have only put about 7000 more Kilometres on it since I bought it and there are some known potential costly repairs with that 6.2L engine, the folding hardtop and of course the adaptive air suspension.
The average lifespan on those air suspensions use to be around 100.000 miles. I have a friend with a w212 though and he has around 150.000 miles on his. But at that point you might have to change it on a car with regular dampers and springs too... Sure those parts are much cheaper. But they need more work to be replaced on the other hand. There are after market air suspension kits that are far cheaper than the original. And with life time warranty.
That’s not true I have a W203 C-Class a lot of people say it’s junk but it’s been 1.5 years and 30,000 miles and all I did was a transmission service , make sure the Mercedes was made in German those are ones that will last
I bought a ten year old C180 Kompressor W204 here in Singapore which is made in Germany. Though you will have initial problems, it's important to send the car to be diagnosed and repair. I'm sure the car will definitely be stable.
I purchased a E-350 2014 it was an absolute joy to drive. I owned it for a couple of years with no issues what so ever. After which time I traded it in for a Chrysler 300 only because I knew as time would have it I would surely run into problems. But I really enjoyed the experience.
You should really not sell that car :(, 2014 facelift E350 is one of the best E Class ever built. I love those front dual LED headlight, the best even compare to all the new Mercedes model
or just get the well made german made one, made in germany and last long time. my 07 mod w211 c 329 cdi has not given me big truble. runs just fine after 152235 miles.
First CLA I had died within 3 days after I bought it. Ended up with a 2018 CLA with unlimited mileage powertrain warranty with 20k miles on it in great condition. I do service A every 5k miles instead of 10k, and immediately replaced brakes, did brake flush, coolant flush, transmission service and then did the entire Service B at 33k mark just to be sure. While maintenance adds up, it diminishes your overall repair costs. Don’t get a mercedes unless you’re ready to put money into it. I’m at about 46k miles now on it and no issues so far and I obviously hope it stays that way. My previous car was my first car I bought myself in college, a 2014 chevy cruze. Took more money on a monthly basis (say3-4 months of repair costs) to keep that car operational than my mercedes maintenance over the past year. Bought that one used at 70k miles. Had it til 140K. Don’t buy used high mileage, ever. No matter the car. I didn’t want to buy used this time but ended up with one. Will be my last used vehicle just because you can’t trust what someone else put the car through or the car fax either.
So funny! I currently have a 1999 ML320 that I bought in 2002. I still have this adorable car...i have LOVED her for all these years...but we are starting to have some issues. She still is at 289,000 (we bought her at 47,000).
i have the newer c class. 63k. typical issues like sunroof creaking and so on, but very reliable to be honest, picked a used c class over a brand new camry/civic. its not about reliabilty but more about IF something breaks the cost wont be fun to look at
I still have my dads e2350cdi 2005 model, its on 213400 miles regular servicing and she still runs good, only major work got done recently suspension bushings and driveline and a 2nd hand transmission. my dads owned since new and no accidents all maintenance was done on time by a merc specialist. Its been the most reliable car in the family and cheap to maintain. if they still made mercs like they did this one I would buy one anyday
I have a 2008 CLK 350 coupe. Bought 2 years old with 18k miles for $25k. It has been on the road for 14.5 years. Daily driver. To date it has been absolutely reliable. But I do maintain it. I have spent $24K in the 12.5 years I have owned it which for a mercedes I think is decent at $160 a month. I just started doing my own work and had I started sooner I would have probably saved $12K. Paint has held up well. Interior has held up well though I need to replace headliner now. Window regulator just went last week (I won't slam doors anymore). Only major repair needed over the years was intake manifold which was under warranty. Just hit 125K miles and know I got some major work ahead to keep it running. But as long as I do the work myself it won't be so bad and I love the car. I decided to keep it going because I don't like new Mercedes Benz cars. Or I should say, I don't like any that I can actually afford. And too much electronic and safety crap that can and does break. And I don't want turbo. I would like to find a used C, CL, or S 63 AMG in good shape though. Before the BiTurbo.
We have the current gen 2017 W205 C300 RWD. It doesn't have all the electronic bells and whistles gadgets, just pretty much a basic model. I intentionally purchase this way to avoid all the electronic malfunctions. Fingers crossed, still drive like it just got off the showroom.
Well thank you for broad view of what to expect with these used Mercedes models . I come from a generation when someone who bought a Mercedes bought a magnificent motorcar. I believe the problem with Mercedes started when they started building cars outside of Germany and the reason for that has to to be what I call “the need for greed” . This means that MB simply wanted a bigger profit margin and their roadmap to this was to build their cars in, undeveloped or under developed countries which would be perfectly fine if MB cared enough about their workers there to TRAIN them properly and pay better wages. Rust on a MERCEDES was Never seen. Oil leaks coming from defective oil filter GASKETS ?! Give us ALL a break ! And it ain’t much better with BMW or Audi .... - in fact ; in many cases with those two brands, there are even worse issues than Mercedes ! So what did the beleaguered and formerly happy MB owner do when he realized he now owned a damn “ garage queen” ? He looked to the East and found Lexus . Actually Toyota was carefully watching the deterioration of MB loyalty and they stepped in with their line of cars which many of their proud owners say are “bullet proof” and who also say they will never own another MB .
I have owned 3 used Mercedes now and as I'm now retired, my present C class is likely to be a keeper as I've had a few things done to it over 3 years, it's been very well maintained in my ownership and doesn't get a lot of use as I have a bus pass now. I would recommend anyone buying a used Mercedes to seek out a independent specialist who is knowledgeable about the cars, with access to the Mercedes database and with a good reputation. They will be busy as owners, who tend to care for their cars, will come from far and wide. A good specialist can save you a lot of money as well as giving good advice, don't neglect regular servicing and replacing filters etc when advised and you should be able to run a premium car for little more than a run of the mill hatchback, providing that it's been cared for properly in the past, although it's always best to have a couple of thousand in hand when buying a used car as inevitably some work will be needed and used car warranties are almost a definition of minimalism.
My 07 S class looks new because it's broken down in the garage with 96000 miles on it. Needs that camshaft idler gear, both control arms, speed sensors on the transmission valve body, an alternator, and a rear oil seal.
They can be fine but it’s a trend of running a small engine hard with turbos. They can last but are clearly a little more stress than a 6 cylinder producing similar power and no turbos.
I have had mercs and its super common here ... what you said totally opposite to what happens here ... all what you need to do is perform preventive maintenance and the cars will run for at least 2 millions km especially diesels ... wow diesels are sooo reliable .... meecs e350 that yu shiukd at lesst 700,000 km here easy no pb.... please explain relatability to you... does it means put gas and engine oil? That could happen tell 100,000 miles then will start to broke but if you do preventive maintenance then will stay way longer and most important please drive them everyday if you can it was built to drive not to stay home cus that might make it a terrible car Thank you for highlighting...one of the best ...
I have a w211 in Nigeria two actually it’s a great car runs and works well. Using it for over 6 months now it had about 132k miles on it when I got it a 2007.
Yea your 100% correct , you left off the SLK/SLC I bought my wife one a 2013 SLK in 2016 and it was $28k new it’s over $50k but now it’s worth 15k the problem I had was a leaking hardtop the they replaced under warranty and noise inside the vent the MB never could fix
Seen an ML class on a used car lot with 150K on it. Ran great but the power door locks would not work and you could not lock it up. Lots of eletronic bugs! That sat on the lot for a long time!
If you are able to do light or even moderate maintenance, these cars are dreams and affordable to maintain. The Chinese market LOVE Mercedes’ which means there are TONS of cheap parts after market. I have a 15 year old SL and I’ve only had to buy one branded part from the wholesale MERC parts distributor. Drives like $100K car it is, for 1/10th the price several years old.
I totally agree.Only real and big problem was rust, but not all of them rust like crazy.Mind you,the "legend"W124 did rust,too(1994-95).Does it make W124 a shit car too?
@@matsujarvinen I wouldn't call w124 shit car. I would just placed it second due to the wire harness breaking down. W124 cars are very beautiful machines.
I own a '2012 S550 4 Matic now at 99k miles had it now for 5 years paid $22k for it and only had to replace the front right air strut at $300.00 and a cam sensor @$100,00 with labor...love the car don't understand why people should avoid this car....
Yes CLA and CLS are very reliable cars I have AMG 63 CLS ,drive like a beast ,run for ever ,great performance on the road, please do not believe the guy MARK or mr exotic cars
I had an 04 CLK that i got in Texas. It was a good car and served me well, the window regulator went which was expensive to fix. Otherwise it was a good car, I would recommend the 09 model if you are looking to purchase. That was the last year it was made.
Kool info but not sure why the mentioning of rust on every Mercedes model 🤔 I've owned 2 Mercedes with zero rust issues ,, probably an issue in some states or countries if car is close to salty conditions I'm sure it would be an issue for any brand vehicle. Mercedes are great vehicles just keep up with maintenance as any other vehicle and avoid the dealership to save on repair cost there are many European service shops available that are reasonable out there.
Its all due to capitalism & monetary gain. Companies across the board are not interested in making things that last or that are reliable. They’re ALL interested in making products that bring you back to the spot u bought it to buy it again & buy more in addition to it. The fact that a 20yr old Honda is more reliable lets you know this is fact. From cars, to headphones to a goddamn toenail clipper. All they’re thinking is “How can we squeeze EVERY PENNY possible out of this product🤔🧐”. & its bolstered by the materialistic society we live in. Everybody wants to become Rich af, Billionaires & Millionaires including the ppl who run these companies & the ones who are starting the new ones. Just look @ the woman who was an executive @ Nike running the SNKRS App & her son ran an underground hustle reselling sneaker business. It’s never enough, they just want more & more. Such a shame cuz it’s really unnecessary.
As I understand it, and I have no expertise in Porsche. You can consider them the most reliable sports car you can purchase. However They can be unreliable like any car and you have to be careful ie service history, nature of the owner etc.
@@markhazzard9730 ego problems lol ok grandpa. Ego problems is going around insulting other people’s preferences for no reason. Clearly you have the problem, no go enjoy your azian chynese junk we will enjoy our benzes. By the way watch the step, don’t need you falling and needing a new hip.
Mark, can you do a video of which German models are actually made in Germany. While all cars eventually face issues, I feel like anything built outside of Germany is prone to more problems. Also it feels cheap to own a GLE made in Alabama 🤢
Yes, I know, two years later. But, it's easy to know where a car was built by it's VIN. The first one or two digits indicate this. And the charts to show which country is which code is easily found on the internet.
@@ECPP Thanks man, will look into them, was seriously considering an X5 diesel, currently own a 2002 VW Golf TDI and it has been bullet proof but after seeing the issues with the DEF tank and injectors on the BMW you went through, changed my mind. The Mercs are definitely over engineered and will likely avoid way too many sensors etc to fail. I am trying to avoid the nightmare of all the crap on a new car that is going to cost a fortune to replace, that is why I am looking at used, the great thing with the used fleet is the history of failures that tell the story of what to avoid, like you discuss in your channel. Keep up the great work and thanks again.
Ssssooooo basically the whole Mercedes lineup LLMMFFAAOO.... I still miss my C coupe it was such a gorgeous vehicle but after the CPO warranty expired I had to let it go 😒😒
@@ECPP Poorly made from the factory's in the USA. Especially when it comes to the electronics. Most taxi's all of Europe are Mercedes.!! Wonder Why 🤔. If they had half the problems they do in the USA or should I say north America because Canada has the same problems no one would buy them here. The other question is why are parts so expensive since there's factory's in the US ? It's not like they have to ship them from Europe.
I have to disagree with ya on the W210. I have a 99 E430 with 190k miles. I've replaced a valve cover gasket, an AC compressor, plugs and plug wires. Other than that the car runs great and has given me no other issues.
I think you made a mistake by lumping in the CLK 55 amg model with CLK's in general. I bought mine Clk 55 last year and it has been flawless so far except for normal maintence. It is a great car that delivers everything a person would want except if you want to transport a lot of things and people. It is so much fun to drive.
I generally like your videos, but I'm a bit confused about what you said about the w210 as your looking at a w211 on video. The w210 is generally a good car although it is old at this point, the w211 is generally not well thought of. So I don't know if you're point is avoid older 20 year old MB's. But speaking ill of the 210 with a 211 on screen is a mistake.
Great video Mark! I need your advise, in terms of reliability would you'd rather buy a 2013 BMW X5 or a Mercedes 2013 ML350 (both diesels) and everything else being equal (price, equipment, kilometers, general condition, etc). Thanks
Hi Larry, I know I may seem a bit biased and neither are perfect, but I would go with the BMW as they are a bit sturdier. Just watch for DEF heater and PCv and the self levelling air suspension
That silver MBZ with the flat tires is a W211 not a W210. The facelift W210 built from 2000-2002 has a rock solid drive train. Get your models right. The only engine problem in the E class series during that decade was with the M272 in some of the W211 facelift cars built in 2006 and 2007. Apart from that the W211 is good. My "daily driver" is a 2002 E320. We also use it for all long road trips. Great car, and no, it is not for sale.
Just bought a 2000 E320 4Matic. I'm redoing the whole belting system on it. harmonic balancer had some wave, idler pulley is ticking and I dont like the play in the water pump. I also replaced the timing chain tensioner in it. this thing is the absolute easiest belting system I've ever seen, unlike my E46 BMW where you have to remove the fan assembly to even LOOK at the serp belt.
Silver E-Class is a W211 which I agree is a model to avoid. Higher end models have ABC which is a problem waiting to happen. E500 is ok, E550 stay away. W210 is easier to work on but still complex. Both generations are showing up at the junkyard in numbers so cheap parts are available.
@@ECPP I'm currently fixing up a W210 E430. There are junkyard solutions for everything except EIS/ESL/ECM issues which are prohibitively expensive from the dealer. New key for EIS can be programmed from third party so no dealer needed. If DIY, rehab almost makes sense. So far, I have $1k in junkyard parts that I've installed myself. Still have to do engine and tranny mounts and A/C compressor. If paying mechanic, stay away from all Mercs with deferred maintenance.
I have a W203 2003 C-Class C180 Kompressor with a 6 speed manual gearbox and 256k km (about 160k miles) Rus perfect, had to have it's timing chain replaced, typical m271 engine downfall but still amazing 😂🇿🇦
@Robert McDaniel I got a lexus gs350 2019 for that. If I want performance I'll buy a corvette of something. I'm not buying a money pit if I can help it
I loved my 91 w124 300e 3.0 it was so easy to maintain and cheap to maintain , that you could just look at it and know what was wrong with it lol, even though I didn't know that much about working on cars at the time
I agree. Nothing has gone wrong with mine at all. German taxis was part of the decision process I used to buy mine (E550). However I don’t thrash it and that helps.
I bought a 2014 c300 at 70k miles, kept it until 150k miles. I didn't have any mechanical issues at all! My driver door handle broke, but that was it. I absolutely loved that car. I traded it in for a 2016 E350 W212 with 49k miles. It's been good so far. I decided to stay with Mercedes, because I literally had no issues. Now my 2006 BMW E46 is a different story. That has been a true money pit. Oil leak galore with fragile plastic parts! 😬
@MzKey90 i just bought a 2015 C300 with 72k miles on it its 2023 still running fine. The turbo 4 cylinder is very reliable i even have the piston issue batch in mine but i guess i was lucky. But seeming how the c300 and c400 are the same price right now definitely worth the V6. Of course the V8 is great but the 4 cylinders arent bad otherwise mercedes wouldnt be selling a whole bunch of them and mercedes has done well after the piston issue in 2015
Your 2014 C300 and your 2016 E350 used the same engine called the M276 engine which was bulletproof. Your C300 made 249hp while your E350 made 302hp. Both had 3.5 liter engines.
@@ikeudechukwu5018 That’s right. Given the choice between getting a newer Mercedes that now all seem to have a 4 cylinder turbo, I opted in for the last year (2016) the E350 still has a 6 cylinder engine because they are more reliable. Those turbos are not great.
I have to commute 100m (200 RT) on interstate roads in the Midwest. Want a CPO S550/560 vs E class vs 740/50. Need the x drive or 4matic. Your thoughts on reliability?
Would it be best to shop around for used cars straight from the Benz dealership? Or any dealership to get it affordable??? Im looking to upgrade in july in nyc
Think the problem is people dont set aside funds for things that wear away or break after 70,000 wish MORE used owners would pay the £250/$300 gearbox oil transfer, alot plastics now inside all cars! Loved my ml320 just famous injector seals & famous door lock springs 🤦🏼♂️! CLA is nice looking classy
This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. He says to stay away from the w210 model because it's a maintenance nightmare. In fact, the w210 model is one of the most reliable models ever built. I have one myself (1998), the first year the new V6 aluminum engine was used for this model. It has over 200K miles and still drives like a dream. I see a lot of them on the road, so that is proof this model is a winner.
Could you do a video on high performance luxury suv .. that can be used as a daily driver and can actually take on flooded roads , big speed bumbs and enexpected huge potholes.. i live in mexico lol Id like to know what is the best happy medium . Im not talking about climbing mountains or going off road. Just everyday use in a place with horrible roads without sacrficing luxury and performance .
S classes also came with a hydraulic ABC and troubleshooting those systems is a nightmare. Be prepared to spend thousand son labor before you even find the problem, and you better hope it's not the ABC pump or seal, otherwise you're looking at dropping the engine to get to it
Stay away from "Made in US" cars... Here in Germany we avoid buying these bad assembled stuff, like the ML, made in Alabama... This is just a no go. My last E Class, W212 350 Diesel 4 Matic went up to 550.000 km and I sold it for a good prize. MB is well known in Europe for its durability and long lasting reliability, well worth the money. On top, MB is building some of the most safe cars...
as a Mercedes Benz technician I would highly suggest anything from 2008-2018. no 4 cylinders or diesel. all these cla,a class cars are junk stick with the v6's or v8's
What's the best years for a used S Class? I am starting a luxury passenger driving business and have considered these.
What model should I be looking for in that year range? What’s Most reliable benz between 2008 - 2013?
I agree! The 4 cylinders are not even Mercedes engines.

Mercedes Benz is an expensive luxury brand so of course you can expect maintenance to be high but I feel some of the problems people experience is when the try to own on a shoestring budget. If you defer the maintenance to save money it will end up costing you more money.

I’m at about 46k miles
now on it and no issues so far and I obviously hope it stays that way. My previous car was my first car I bought myself in college, a 2014 chevy cruze.

So what did the beleaguered and formerly happy MB owner do when he realized he now owned a
damn “ garage queen” ?
He looked to the East and found Lexus .
Actually Toyota was carefully watching the deterioration of MB loyalty and they stepped in with their line of cars which many of their proud owners say are “bullet proof” and who also say they will never own another MB .
I totally agree with this . The problem started when they built cars outside Germany

Other than that the car runs great and has given me no other issues.
thank you for your video! I watched it right before I bought MB 4cyl SUV
Great 👍
I think you made a mistake by lumping in the CLK 55 amg model with CLK's in general. I bought mine Clk 55 last year and it has been flawless so far except for normal maintence. It is a great car that delivers everything a person would want except if you want to transport a lot of things and people. It is so much fun to drive.
I’m just glad the A class hasn’t popped up on one of these lists yet lol. Holding onto to that one for a couple years.
The A225 and A35 are nice looking cars.
the cheap one are more reliable to compete with Toyotas
I'm thinking of purchasing a 2010 s450 in mint condition for 25k. New to the Mercedes world so I welcome any incite/advice. Thanks !
@@ECPP Huge thanks Mark, I was already heading into that direction but it's great to have input from an expert! thanks again
Exactly and I do agree the 509 is fairly solid
Mercedes after you say ALL THE TIME ARE MOBEY PITS then you say have value? How can a money pit have value?
luxury money-pit has value because it only attracks easy targets with disposable income 😏
@Robert McDaniel I got a lexus gs350 2019 for that. If I want performance I'll buy a corvette of something. I'm not buying a money pit if I can help it
@@glasser2819 so stupid people?
I loved my 91 w124 300e 3.0 it was so easy to maintain and cheap to maintain , that you could just look at it and know what was wrong with it lol, even though I didn't know that much about working on cars at the time
The 2009 Mercedes e class is a very good car
Still have my 2009 C300. Love it. 119566 miles on it and it looks and runs like new. Take care of them and they'll last forever.
I agree, the Benzs can be pretty solid, if you are in the right generation and model.
@@ECPP Absolutely! Definitely get a V6 or V8 with Mercedes. The 4 cylinders with the turbo seems like potential trouble.
Those turbos are not great.
thinking about getting a 2017 x6 or 2017 Mercedes GLS OR 2017 Range Rover. Which is more reliable in your opinion
if you were buying which will you get
What about the SL Black Series
If ou are a mechanic then a Mercedes is a great buy, because you can fix it up yourself!
True
I'm enjoying my W203 estate with 116,000 miles and very few problems. 18 years old now
I have to commute 100m (200 RT) on interstate roads in the Midwest. Want a CPO S550/560 vs E class vs 740/50. Need the x drive or 4matic. Your thoughts on reliability?
Lexus
Thanks
2010 ML350 190k miles. 0 major issues and almost no minor.
Could you do a video on high performance luxury suv .. that can be used as a daily driver and can actually take on flooded roads , big speed bumbs and enexpected huge potholes.. i live in mexico lol
Id like to know what is the best happy medium . Im not talking about climbing mountains or going off road. Just everyday use in a place with horrible roads without sacrficing luxury and performance .
Excellent Summary!!
Thank you much
If you get a Merc built in America your quality control is bad☑️. Getting one build in Germany 🇩🇪 equals quality ☑️💯
I would like to see the differences up close
S classes also came with a hydraulic ABC and troubleshooting those systems is a nightmare. Be prepared to spend thousand son labor before you even find the problem, and you better hope it's not the ABC pump or seal, otherwise you're looking at dropping the engine to get to it
Ouch, ouch, ouch
I only see the big Stars, how about the A & B class in the states? :)
CLK is a good valued car if u get a convertible.
