- BMW UK invited us down to get a look at the brand new G42 M240i, and who are we to turn that offer down!
For this generation BMW have made the car significantly more aggressive than the previous generation. A much needed change in our opinion. The styling is all brand new and we take a closer look at the car. Unfortunately we couldn't drive it, but based on the M440i this car is based on we are excited to see what BMW have cooked up.

This is the first video that really shows this cars design lines properly. Excellent sharp camerawork. The overcast day really helped too. Nice work.
will look even better at night, when you can see it less. And this comes from someone that has two current BMW models on the driveway

It’s awful design, how could one like its rear lights and overall design, it’s devolved from its previous gen, and will never look as good as the previous model was ......

I hated this when I first saw it, but now? It's actually a pretty handsome vehicle. Nice lines, nice wide fenders, very good looking

Hate the rear, hate the lights, hate the audi fakier exhaust tips/surround. Love the wide arch look, front and interior. lol

Car looks great in my opinion. The M2 will look even better
I really don't like the front lights being set back into the fender by a few inches. The protruding rear lights look goofy. I don't understand this car & fear they will ruin next M2. I like the interior.
Lights are great, 2002 tribute & 3D rear, which as always others will copy.
Wasn't a fan at the start but starting to grow on me, it seems to be a common theme on all the new BMWs, they look terrible in pictures, the 2 Series Gran Coupe, the 4 series, the M3/M4, but in real life they look stunning, they just have such a presence and stand up so well. Only thing I'm disappointed about is they went with the single angle eye design so even a 116i coming up in your mirrors at times will look more menacing.

Love these cars, just the right size, I had a M235 and an M2 and always loved driving them. This one looks the business, might even chop in my 4.0GTS Cayman when the M2 arrives.

Wow, I have the F22, but now I'm sold on upgrading to one of these one day. I'd prefer all black to hide some of the odd lines, but in this video the car looks stunning!
Agreed, I don’t like purple but here it suits it really well and helps with the rear especially compared to lighter colors

It's the front and rear lights that look odd. The fronts sit too far back on the front wings and the rears look far too small or are too low compared to the height of the rear boot lid..
Cant wait to get mine late January 🤞 thanks for the review | in person the car looks even crazier. People will get used to the look, same thing with the new front grillt 🤪

Just like you I have one on order for end of january, can’t wait. What spec did you went for? I went with the exact same spec as in this clip, except gloss black trim, exhaust tips and mirrors instead of the cerium grey…

The front looks very flat and high, maybe looks different in person but certainly not on the level looks wise of the F22! The rear I just can’t seem to like either…
this looks much more classier than the boring F22. It has some Z4 Coupe looks in it...

It’s the internal model name, G just signifies which generation it is part of.
BRUHHHHHHH.This is f'in beautiful from almost all angles.The rear is a bit boxed like the x6,but once lowered and exhaust changed for quad,it should look better.Let's hope the rwd model that's rumoured does come because this 2 series is to heavy
Im starting to like it.
Stage 1 remap and this will kerp up with most things on the road.
This is a real grower, the old M240i looked too much like regular 2 series, this one however really does stand out. However let’s hope the non-M cars don’t end up looking pretty much the same
The only gripes I have are with the rear bumper and lights, they just look a bit odd.

Brilliant video once again.
FANTASTIC walk around- I suspect it will be more of a "sedate" M2 (Less NVH) looks fantastic and this walkaround showed every angle perfectly. One of the best BMWS after the 3/4 series gopher teeth overstyled, trying too hard to be cool, front end. Great walk around and well done BMW- your designs were becoming a joke. As a previous 4 time E46 owner who jumped ship to Mercedes- this is looking to me like a true object of desire- totally missing from most BMW designs over the past few years.
I own a 18' m240i absolutely love it, I've been hesitant about the new 2 series from all the pictures but this video might've changed my mind very professional and informative
I think the new 2 series looks very nice in general. Not a huge fan of the front though.
