    The rear seats are actually very useful, I carried a lot of my friends with my e82 135i rear seats. One time we even had 3 people at the back. I mean, it's small but compared to other coupes like Porche 911, mustang, etc, the rear seat is usable. I think it's primarily because of the shape of the roof.
    I actually very much appreciate BMW is giving consideration to the backseat, I mean it's a plus, not a must, but with technology so advanced today, it doesn't take much to add those features to the rear.
    it's a small thing to show respect to the buyer. I don't think the owner wants to be reminded all the time that "you are just a coupe, you don't deserve two extra usb-c charging ports"

    I have been competing at club level motorsport for over 50 years. Fifty years! I need an edge or an advantage in my class, and that advantage is not a manual gearbox. I use the paddles to change gears and over a 980metre hillclimb I am one second faster. One second may not sound a lot but places in our class is decided in hundreds of a second. F1 use a sequential, so do all rally cars and a lot of other on track cars. I'll take the auto box. And I will smile at you in peak traffic with your manual shift and the smell of the clutch . Another great video Doug and I understand the VIN numbers interest.

This BMW 2 - Series has soo many good features i.e. it has touchscreen and buttons, the A/C controls are buttons with small display - best combo, the trunk has the small hinge and piston mechanism, which is waay better than that miserable other design which so many car makers use, folding rear seats etc. This is truly a well engineered and thought over car.

    • @FFE-js2zp
      @FFE-js2zp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A pedal doesn’t define manual shifting. I bought manuals my whole life, until I reluctantly bought a ZF8, not understanding it was way more manual than my manuals, because it takes no time to shift into what ever gear you choose, then it stays there. The ZF8 is 50% better than a manual in terms of fun and performance. Plus, my 700HP car gets 31 mpg in 8th, geared for 340 mph at redline.
      Plus, it has an automatic mode which is 100% required on the drag strip. The initial gear changes happen so fast they cannot possibly be timed correctly by a human.

    I'll help clear up any confusion here as a seasoned M2 / M3 owner. The M240i is an M car and has been for the past 2 years. The B58 engine, throttle mapping, suspension / chassis, M LSD, brakes, exhaust, etc are all developed by M division and M performance models are listed in the M GmbH global sales figures along with the M2. (not standard BMW GmbH sales figures). It's clearly listed as BMW M on the 2 series build page, ask BMW M and they will tell you. BMW is finally aligning with AMG the past 2 years where they have 2 versions of an M car (A35 AMG vs A45 AMG for example). The A35 is an AMG car even though it's not the higher end track version A45. The M240i is the same...an M performance model whereas the M2 is the "full" track car. The 2022 M240i is faster than last years M2 comp, people are trading in their old M2 for this car for a reason, they don't just randomly throw an M badge on the back of a car unless it's developed by M division just like AMG would never do that. I think the issue here is that they slap M badges all over the place on the interior of "M Sport package" on standard cars like the 230, 330, etc which are definitely not developed by M division and make a lot of purists upset, which I can align with. MB and Audi does the same thing with the "AMG Sport" and "S Sport" packages on base line models, it sells so that's not going anywhere anytime soon. Hopefully that clears up any confusion even though some people will still be stuck in the past, and that's fine too.

A BMW insider says it will have an S58 tuned to about 450 DIN (can’t upstage its big brothers), it will come in Competition-spec only, a 6 speed manual or ZF8 will be available, and production starts in December as 2023 models. Test drove 230 and the 330, and the 230 handles significantly better.
    Bought the 2022 M240i and having driven a 4,100 lbs wagon, a 2020 Miata, and a Civic for the last 4 years here's my take away.
    >2022 BMW M240i = Fast daily, GT Coupe, best mix between power, sport, utility out of the box.
    2022 BMW 230i = If you are okay with modification, and potentially sacrificing reliability, then 230i's reduced weight is the better platform >2022. It doesn't take much to make a 230i match the same performance as a 240i, and with the better weight distribution, and lower curb weight, it'll handle better too.

      Fair assessment! I bought a used 2022 m240i w/ 13,000 miles on it because it was a great deal. Love the car but my previous 2016 RWD 340i with resonator delete and stage one piggy back just felt a little more raw/violent. The m240i
      Is soooo damn fast but the drive keeps it under control majority of the time
      I really wanted the 2022 interior but would have gone RWD if that wasn’t the case

      This car is too fast, to really enjoy it and drive it at 8/10 or 9/10 on public roads, you're risking jail time or death.

    I bet that rear seat climate control is the exact same as the gran coupe so instead of taking it out for the regular coupe they just left it in so they didn't have to make a different center console.

It's kinda hilarious that there are three types of 2 series, none of which have something in common with each other: 2 series coupe, 2 series gran coupe, which is basically a 1 series sedan and a 2 series active tourer which is a terrible minivan xD
