    Thankfully BMW have kept some physical buttons and the overall design of the dash/console is still driver focused unlike competitor's cars that look like tablets inside.

    • @IKhanNot
      @IKhanNot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah Audi and VW started doing that and their systems are harder than ever to use. Funny how now Audi and VW are using that glossy haptic feedback crap when Honda used it years ago and went back to regular buttons and switches as the customer complaints were off the charts.

    • @usernoname9642

      I came here just to comment on that. I hope that bmw keeps this style but sadly they will finally cave probably. Audi interior is a joke with 3 screens, merc. with their huge tablets. But the IX is probably where bmw is heading. Still better than the competition.

    I’m not a fan of BMW’s FWD-based products so I’m pleasantly surprised to see they actually kept the coupe on RWD architecture. It reminds me of the E46 M3, with those bulging fenders.

    I had a 2014 M235i and I loved it. So easy to toss around, and the back end loved to shimmy. I live in a region where winters can be nasty, so the rear wheel drive aspect was a bit tricky, although with snow tires (and sensible driving) I managed it for a number of years. Lack of a functional back seat, and feeling like getting in and out of the car was more like falling, eventually made me move to a Mercedes C43 instead (back back and knees has something to do with it as well). But I have very found memories of that BMW. This one looks like it would be a blast to do some hot laps with.

      @patrickbateman6885 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own a 2011 323i. The problem I find is the interior just doesn't feel special. Mind you mine has a beige/cream with wood interior so maybe I'm not the best to ask, but it just feels dull and not special. At the moment Mazda are putting out better interiors than the Big 3. Plus all BMW's at the moment have this stupid, cheap quality I think speaker on the top of the dash. (I live in Australia so the materials and quality we used back then and now was probably better than America, as our cars either came from Germany or South Africa like mine).

      @@YourMajestyTheKing I don't have the money to buy a Porsche so I wouldn't know. Tesla seemed alright to me, but looking at the screen in the middle to see how fast I'm going in a car that accelerates quicker than you can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious pisses me off and quality according to owners is poor. I love the Volvo interior with it plushness, but the iPad screen I hear is unreliable, at times slow and buggy and can be dear to replace. Personally I would stick with Big 3 for a replacement for my 323i and only look at the new Mazda 6, Kia Stinger or a Skoda Octavia as I've found them to be the best outside of the big 3 and have as good as quality. My likely replacement will probably be a 2016 or 17 BMW 440i as it's my wife's favourite car and I not liking the design of the new one and we both love the sound of a 6 cylinder.

    The only reason I watched this video was to see if BMW actually retained it’s traditional kidney grill. Thankfully, it appears they’ve saved those garish, inexplicably ugly XXL grill cutouts. Those grills are ten times worse than anything Bangle ever drew. It’s almost as if BMW suffered a concussion or some other malady in choosing those ridiculously large grills.
    That said, I sold my last BMW (540i, E39) nearly 10 yrs ago and haven’t looked back. BMW decided to lean heavily on luxury and their cars have become fat and bloated. My 540i’s wheelbase was only 5 inches longer than the M2, which speaks to how heavy BMW’s have become. My first BMW was an brand new 318i coupe (E39, black on black) I brought back with me from US Army service in Europe. It was actually an affordable new car, as I only paid $21,500 for the car, plus about $600 to ship to USA. I calculated the inflation for 2021 and it works out to about $41,350 in today’s money. I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a 230i for less than $42K, but it doesn’t seem impossible.
    Perhaps the 2 series will be a smash hit for BMW, as buyers look towards more traditional BMW aesthetics. Even the entry level 230i looks like the BMW’s we all fell in love with before we could afford to actually buy them. It’s the only car I’d be even remotely interested. Those oversized kidney grills are simply trying way too hard to garner attention. We’ll see how long they stick around.

    As a current generation M240i xDrive owner and former 228i owner, I'm grateful they're still making them, but the weight - wow. BMW is known for their cars getting more porky with every upgrade, and a little is expected, but 200 pounds? My 228i was more fun in the twisties than my current car entirely due to the lighter weight, and the M240's 3,670-ish is already borderline unacceptable for the size - but regardless of the platform change, 3,870 pounds is absurd.

      The rear drive Coupe 230i in base trim weighs 3519 Lbs. Without AWD it’s lighter more nimble and more fun. Plus it get better mpg with the turbo four too. More fun more economical and cheaper to buy and maintain!

    • @nks99999
      @nks99999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jissanhuq3792 gonna have to disagree with you on this. Firstly not sure what market you’re talking about, I’m talking about the UK. Secondly, a small 2 door coupe with a 6cyl engine? Yeah it’s a niche market segment and with petrol prices at £1.50 a litre in the UK, plus around £500 in road tax a year, in 3 years time, these ICE vehicles are going to suffer a lot in depreciation. Furthermore, what you’re describing currently is largely due to the chip shortage causing inflation in the prices, once chip production goes back to normal and production starts to meet demand, prices are gonna drop. Bought my 2016 435i, almost £50k brand new, for £22k, in 2019.

    I love this. Looks like BMW went back to their routes with this one and would buy it if I didn't have 2 kids. If I could I would have the M240i xDrive with that red interior with the Melbourne Red or Portimao blue. This, 3, 5, 8, X3, X5 look and drive good. Still doesn't excuse that abysmal excuse of a designer for his crimes against car design and humanity with the 2 Gran Coupé, 4/M4, 7 Series, X4/X6, X7, i4 and his worst shitebox of them all, the biggest crime of them all... the brand new iX. That designer doesn't wanna come near me as you would all know what I do to people in American Psycho...

    I'm glad they kept that C-pillar kink. They got rid of it in the new 4-series, and it looks like a mustang or jaguar from the side 😭
    But this car is still not enough to replace the old 2-series. The design is pretty wonky on this car still. don't like those headlights, taillights, or bumper triangles.
    The trunk also looks like a VW passat.
