Not only will it be helpful for when I do want to explore scotch, I believe that it probably helps you to be a more well rounded reviewer and be able to bring much more to the community. Powerhouse for sure. Love what Campbeltown has to offer as a region. I just found a Glen Scotia 8 Malts Festival 2022 PX finished 😋
Also, not taking shots at you, just wanted to clarify that the Macallan Triple Cask was the one that had a combination of European and American sherry seasoned oak casks and American ex-bourbon oak casks. The Double Cask is matured in American and European Sherry seasoned oak. No ex-bourbon casks used in this one.

The regular Hazelburn 10 is my favourite summer whisky, Campbeltown meets Irish.
Great to see you adding the water, I always try my first pour out of a new bottle with a few drops of water and then a teaspoon at the end (as per Ralphy).
I almost passed on this at $190 but I'm glad I picked it up. That description you gave of it having a golden aspect when you added water is exactly what my experience was too. Its a phenomenal pour, and actually reminds me a LOT of this Craigellachie 23 year Oloroso finish Exceptional Cask I have
Scotch nerd here! Single malt actually. Rye/bourbon at 55/45.
For whiskey tube content we need more American Single Malt. I know it's impossible due to distribution limitations but we are on the cusp of generally decent drams.
I'll buy anything domestic at cask strength matured in used barrels.
This Hazelburn hit my local shop for $260. So that $90 price gouge is a hesitation. Heavy sherry bombs that hide the malt character are not all that attractive at high prices.

Personally I drink more Scotch than anything else. I have 2 of these bottles. Wish I had 3... if you want something comparable for less get the Glen Garioch 15 CS. It's fruitier but very close. Cheers.

In my defense I had just dropped $80 Stagg Jr store pick, $90 Stagg 23C, and $135 Mitcher's Toasted Rye, so money was tight! But yours is the second review I've seen on this and both say it's an easy buy! A great Campbelltown whiskey for $60 is the Campbelltown Loch. It's a blend of Springbank, Hazelburn and Longrow (yes it has some peat). Packs a lot of flavor and transitions for the $$. It's similar to Kilchoman Sanaig but less peat and more funk. Cheers!

Still hasn't hit Connecticut, the Springbank 10 Palo Cortado did but i held back wanting to put my money toward this. If I strike out, thanks for the vicarious review.
Extra points for trying the water to find out if it helps or hinders the pour.

I had tried the previous 15 and I own a 13 year sherry cask among a couple other HB's, I have heard nothing but good things about this 15. These are getting harder to come by as they are only available in Alberta up here and like all Sprinngbank stuff, quickly off the shelf or online.
