This is why you're the best, honest review to the point, and now I know If I happen to catch it at MSRP I'll grab it if not I'm not missing anything great and don't need to hunt it or pay secondary for it.
I liked it as much as the C923. I bought 5 bottles at $45 each.

Picked one up. It was on the shelf at MSRP and I don't see them often. Solid flavor, will drink through it and get it off the shelf.
I agree with your assessment here. I’m a bit disappointed in this batch as the B523 was my first taste of their BP and has spoiled me.

Just grabbed it and haven’t gotten into it yet. I don’t know if any bourbon will ever hit me like the B523 does but here’s to hoping it’s good

I have an A122 but haven’t opened it. Haven’t found a wheater I love. Perhaps I’ll open it soon. Thanks for the review!
I enjoyed the Larceny A124 so much that I bought 4 bottles.
Interesting how batch variation plays a role, I’ve certainly drank previous inferior bottles of this and thought it was just me. Most were delicious. Favorite bourbon- good enough to steal! :)

Not going to comment anymore on the A124. We discussed that on the livestream last week. LOL
It seems the B and C offerings are usually better. I might pick this one up if I see it on the shelf but not chase for it. Thanks for the honest review Jason.

I picked one up. I’ve not seen it for less than $70 in Indiana
Saw it at a big box store near me for $70. Passed on it. Went to a small liquor store later that same day and scored a C923 for $60. They still had a bunch of em too. Was pleasantly surprised.
Larceny has come a long way but what’s up with Bernheim BP? They need to bring that along as well.
Really hoping I see this around PA. Online PA orders are still seeing some C922s, so I can't trust it. Maybe DE, NJ, or MD.

I've not been all that crazy about any of the "A" releases from previous years, with "B" and "C" much preferred. So I'm not all that surprised with your review. If I see it at MSRP I'll likely buy it anyway, but not hunting this release.

I tried this one and my review is out tomorrow but compared to other batches I really didn’t jive with this batch
Bunkered some B and C ‘23s last year. Guess I’ll stick with them. Trying to limit the number I buy at this point.
I enjoyed it, but for me the b523 and c923 are my favorites.
That C batch was pretty great. Seems it gets better in the B & C's every year.
I grabbed a B523 after Minnick raved about it (ended up being the only bottle I've ever owned that had a crack in it). It was really good, but not amazing. At your suggestion I grabbed a C923 pretty late in the year. I haven't opened it yet, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
I have like the last 5 Larceny BP’s. Larceny BP A124 ($70) was higher priced than the EC BP A124 ($67) near me this year. 🥃
I came here straight from your B524 review. I really dug this A124. Gave it a higher-than-usual rating on my Distiller app. Lots of molasses (or was it maple?) on the nose, and the palate was indeed spicy but with "cinnamon graham cracker" and walnuts! Drank smoother than the proof. Guess I need to check out the B524... sounds like you preferred it over this one…
@@JD0124 it's just a bit sweeter. More of a preference for folks. I did like the spice of the A124 but more of a mood pour for me.

I see you have an Old Overholt 10 in the background, what do you think of that bottle?
The good news is LBP is not super expensive you can pick these up for 65 ish so at that price it's a good buy no reason to pay secondary though

Thought it was just okay. No where near C or A from last year. I'll try it again once it opens up

My wife found a A124 at sams club for 48 bucks. It’s not too terrible, might have to let the bottle open up a bit.
Hope it’s better than the ECBP A124 that nobody has seemed to like. I’ll probably buy it regardless.
I'm definitely a nobody but I loooooved a124 ecbp
I just can't get into most wheated whiskeys. Most that I have tried give me a moldy vegetal note on the palate. I tried a PVW20 once and it was good.
Just got this one... better than a123 for me... but still not good enough I think I will bother trying a third unless I see a c923.
You forgot Rebel Cask Strength.
Still have a123 and c923 larceny. I feel like im shifting towards the Larceny over ECBP

Don't forget Ben Halladay wheated Cask strength and Southern Star Paragon wheated Cask strength.
If you can find it at $60-$70 and you have liked the last few batches, I definitely think this is a solid batch at that price. But I don't think this will be like last year's B22 or C22 where I'll buy more than 1 of. As an analogy, if B22 and C22 were maple syrup, A23 is honey. Still good, but I liked the former 2 better.
Thanks for the vid. So I'm a bit South of you and this past weekend I scored a Blantons believe it or not and I also acquired a bottle from Bowman Brothers small batch. I absolutely loved it, really smooth lower proof, still amazing I'd never had nor seen it or if I had I hadn't paid much attention to it. At that price point if you sat B trace and that in front of me I'll grab it everytime which ironically I hear the first distill is supposed to take place at Buffalo Trace.

Cant say I've been a fan....yet.
Maybe i got a bad bottle but after b522, c922, c923 this was a complete let down. It was like a hot j.t.s. brown had that cheap black licorice note from evan black in spades. I regret buying. Lacking the rich sweet notes that i buy the bottle expecting.
$70 in my market. I'll grab one & probably not back it up.
C922 was an anomaly I think, they are too hot. I walked past this one twice this week. Was sitting next to a 10 yr ECBP that Im also skipping.
Agreed. I enjoy a Barrel Proof dram as much as the next guy, but these always drink too hot, even when there is a good bit of flavor.
Not particularly interested in picking these up anymore. 😊
