BEST DOUBLE OAKED BOURBON? - FOX & ODEN DOUBLE OAKED REVIEW
The issue is that ETL is harder to get than Stagg, EHT SiB and maybe Blanton's Gold, at least in my area.
Hard pass
This one is pretty tasty. But I’ve enjoyed all three batches I’ve purchased. A123, C923, B524 are all good whiskey.
Hey Cam! Love the content. I have a few pours I think you would enjoy and would be great for guess that whiskey or just for review. How do I contact you about this?
I just disagree. I don't like it. I just don't like anything about it.
Sounds like a pass to me
Overpriced all the way. 110.00 at best
Love your honesty. I had a bad taste from the aspen stave when i tried.
Got my first bottle yesterday for 59.99. Gotta say that it took me a couple pours to appreciate it, since iv been drinking old forester 1920 recently so I was used to the proof. But the W12 is a super soft sipper. Finish is nothing crazy. But the wood notes are really pleasant and nothing astringent at all. Definitely a step up from special reserve, which has a fresh apple note, this has more of a caramelized apple note
One of the worst bottles I’ve ever tasted and I’ll never forget it.
ISO Disco 12 any help would be greatly appreciated currently my Disco 11 is almost gone and would love to try them side by side.
Just picked up a Toasted Private Barrel at Hazel’s in Boulder and it’s *very* good
I WANT TO GO BACK TO BLENDERY SO BAD. My buddies and I just went to do their single barrel bottle experience and walked away with 6 bottles between the three of us lol
Will never buy it out of spite. Done playing this overpriced rich boy game. These distilleries have forgotten where they came from and I can’t wait for them to fail when this fad is over like the 80’s. I’ll have my popcorn in hand
Felt the same way. Came across as much younger than it was
You need to reevaluate your definition of "sour"
William Maley owns Blue Bolt and sources exclusively from Crittenden. He's in our whiskey club here in Virginia, and set up a fantastic pick that drinks like a Stagg.
Missed the live, But I have to agree with Fred Minnick on the Larceny over GTS 2024. 2024 & 2023 GTS have a potting soil flavor that is so overwhelming and no other flavors come through. And the finish is just gross.
how about 2024 prices i just bought small batch for $135 !
I also live in CO (northern denver) have a similar bottle right (non pick) of what you tasted. And while I've had a few bottles that were good about the better half of a decade ago, I can't get past the fact that 291 uses half barrels to age their whiskey hoping to speed up the process. Most every bottle I had tasty overly woody and slightly bitter. There is no soft wood notes and what wood notes are there blows out whatever whiskey is in the glass. Not sure if that's also a "aging at altitude thing" here in CO, but I usually don't drink CO whiskey any more because of those notes. Well done though nailing the whiskey.
Sorry I missed this one. But stoked to see Cam and I have the same phone cover!
Pencil shavings can equal different method of barrel aging.
Living in CO Springs, 291 comes up in conversation a lot. I've never had one that I'd even consider taking a bottle for free. Wishing them success, but "absolutely atrocious" pretty well sums it up for me as well. Cheers!
"Absolutely atrocious" 😂 Minnick's palate continues to be trash
I haven't heard anything good about this distillery. Especially that finish.
Aspen finish is such a strange finish. 291 has some alright stuff but like amburana I’m out on aspen finish as a Coloradan
I bought a store pick of 291. Absolute TRASH! I will never buy 291 again.
Impressive man. You nailed it. Cool video. Cheers 🥃🥃
Dude how do you know what cannibus taste like??? Aspen wood stave??? Who would do such ? Aspen is super acidic and nasty smelling
Dude how do you know what cannibus taste like???
😂
Craft over legacy
Return of the king!
Hey Cam, have you ever been to Whiskey Thieves or have anything from them?
Nope not yet!
Do you think the bard and princess picks will make it to your $10 tier?
@@michaelspiekerman4551 I do, although admittedly it’s hard to predict. They’ll each be a bit over $300, which will be the most expensive bottles we’ve dropped, so it’s hard to know how they’ll sell
Love Fred Minnick...but a number of his picks are just bad. He liked Old Tub...so there you go.
Fred Minnick is a paid talking piece. Nothing more
Single sample is not something you are used to doing. More like 10+
Excellent bottle ! Just opened today , I agree with for everyone.
Please post the full review
@@brianmiles4088 this is excerpted from a live stream
What do you mean "you guys"
I've never had one yet. I do believe it's only found at the distillery which sucks cause from what I've seen there's always a hefty line and limited bottles
I tried one of the 15 years and it was superb.
24B drinks like a standard, on profile, middle of the road Stagg to me. I think the nose is just as average, nothing off-putting. I was able to get 2 bottles at MSRP. I haven't decided whether I will trade the second bottle or keep it around for when there is another big drought of Stagg.
limited editions do NOT need to appeal to a wide audience because they never reach a wide audience
The WHH13 was $264.99 after tax at the distillery. i snagged one last week. In my mind i thought it was closer to the $150 mark. i waited 15mins in line so its not a loss of time for me. that tag is still up there lol
Thank you! I saw someone share rarebird101’s post, saying, it’d been confirmed that ll/me contains 15yr rejects 🤦🏼♂️ …plz actually fucking read lol
189 msrp…. Showed up at SoCal Costco for $156. I bought it..
There's a very good reason I've got over 12 bottles of Sagamore in my collection and only one bottle of Michter's.
Will they be selling that River Roots short barrel on their website?
@@andrewbergstrom6764 they dropped it yesterday and it sold out in 20 seconds lol
@ fair enough! Thanks Cam!
Catching the replay as usual... Stagg (Jr) batch 13 was the only one I disliked, sounds like no need to find a 24B.
