  • **WARNING** c10 disc brake update, watch my dec 2018 vids. This kit is cheap and that’s where is ends, so many issues actually installing them. Would I buy again??? Watch the other vids and inquire.

    Update on the old 1969 Chevy c10 panel truck project, looking at the brakes today. I wanted to ditch the 4 wheel drum setup for a 4 wheel disc brake setup. I chose to stick with 6 lug for a couple of reasons, I already have perfectly sized 6 lug wheels, and I really didn't want to change the pattern on my short '69 rear axles.

    just found your page, looking for a front disc brake conversion for a tight budget, I want to add power brakes & dual reservoir master, but I want to keep rear as drum.truck in a 1966 Chevrolet any news on how they do?I want to be able to stop, when pulling a loaded car trailer.

      Cheap was my orig plan too, I picked up a whole rwd squarebody for cheap, parted it out so the front crossmember and brakes were basically free, but 5 lug. I should have just use conversion tie rods and bought the cpp or similar 6 lug rotors but instead I bought this stuff. If you watch my other vids I do not recommend this kit, and definitely don't recommend the rear.

      truck has old school 6 lug mags I want to keep them. I will be using it to pull a car trailer, so I need better braking for peace of mind on interstate travel.

      @@randymack1782That's exactly why I kept with the 6 lug! I really liked the oldschool turbine wheels I have.

      If you have access to good auto wreckers in your area get parts from a 71+ truck, you can get the whole front crossmember with brakes and even the power steering. You can also choose to just get the knuckles then you have to swap the ball joints in your arms to whatever knuckle you are using. can use the knuckles and the arms. There are lots of possibilities. The 73+ arms are bigger and also easier to come by replacement ball joints, arm bushings etc. I'm sure you can find used stuff cheap. Or you can just buy the 63-70 conversion spindles and aftermarket 6 lug swap rotors and new brake calipers. It'll be dead simple but cost more, well depending on what you might pay going the used route.

    Those rear calipers are from cadillac eldorado... They need to be used with the parking cable or else you will have issues with soft pedal...

    • @GIZZMOTORSPORTS
      @GIZZMOTORSPORTS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      J H thanks, I plan to hook up the park cable. If I temporarily didn’t, how does that give a soft pedal? I’m guessing the Caliper spring is trying to spread it open and the cable limits this? Thanks for the head up.

    What size are the front rotors? I have similar 15" turbines. I want to put disc brake conversion on. And keep the turbines

    • @GIZZMOTORSPORTS
      @GIZZMOTORSPORTS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of rotor clearance, the caliper is close to wheel but it’s spaced same as squarebody c10. My turbine is by western, I’ll measure the inside diameter tomorrow. How big is your wheel inside?

    I’m looking for a kit for my 85 k10. Has a 14 bolt rear end. Any suggestions?

    • @GIZZMOTORSPORTS
      @GIZZMOTORSPORTS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry France can you run a wider axle? Get a 14 bolt 6 lug from a 01+ Denali or Escalade. If not I’d build a kit with square body k10 front rotors on the rear and cut some brackets and the go-to eldorodo parking brake calipers

      Chris Haan it’s bro-speed which I’m sure is sae-speed. I’ve had too many issues with the front and back kits. I should reach out again to try to get new cables at least. Makes me want to sell source and sell my own brake kits.

    Can you bolt on a modern GM wheel on bills went out the Cragar lug nuts washers

    • @GIZZMOTORSPORTS
      @GIZZMOTORSPORTS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      j.r. stevens a modern gm offset wheel should fit, ya know I always have a bunch of 99+ trucks and SUVs and extra rims and tires. Wouldn't you know earlier this year I liquidated all that stuff, I'm left with 2 3/4 ton NBS and a 3/4 NNBS burb now, all this 8 lug stuff! No same pattern 6 lug to even try, I'll maybe invite my bro over to see.

      j.r. stevens I paid $227.49 USD for front kit and $305.75 USD for the rear kit. I'm still putting the truck together so I haven't tested them yet. I'll post up how they install and how well they brake once I know myself. I bought them from a company called bro-speed, I found them on eBay. Shipped very fast.

      j.r. stevens soon as I have some days off in the next week. I wasn’t happy with the paint on the spindles. I need to re sandblast and repaint then I’ll do a test fit. I was looking at 69 front end parts vs square body parts today. There are quite a few differences. It looks like the square body crossmember places the upper a arm a little further back to give more caster, I want to get out the ruler to verify. Just need to add that to the next update. Also grabbed hydro boost off the donor truck.

      Seriously, I think you have more parts lying around in boxes than most people have on their cars.

    • @GIZZMOTORSPORTS
      @GIZZMOTORSPORTS  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope not! But I realize this, so no more buying cars until I can clear off some shelving. I'm going to put as many parts to use on this c10. Once it's done I have absolutely all the parts needed to be the quickest all motor fwd at mrp. Then there needs to be a car audio build.

      BTW Dave, Eli and Matt are all being pusses and not racing their bikes at MRP. Do you have what it takes...? I challenge thee. Can you beat a 35 year old Honda with 200 extra lbs and 100 less hp?
