      Why did the axle even have to be taken out I see no reason why everything's got a hole in it that seems to be big enough for it to slide right through and unnecessary step in my opinion.

      I think taking the brake pads and the springs and all that stuff off is really that much really necessary I mean that's a given a simple person can even tell that once you remove all that stuff but that's all that's left is exactly what he did now if y'all are talking about all the shade tree mechanic crap like hitting it with torches and all that other stupid shit to break a boat loose here and there I don't know what to tell you because I've never had the resort to stupid shit usually a can of WD-40 does it

      And also, a New Master Cylinder. I'm not the most sure why, myself, but I think it's because the system will give too much or too little braking pressure to the rear discs if you're using a master cylinder that was for Discs on Front and Drums on Rear.

    • @MasterPowerBrakes
      @MasterPowerBrakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The video is a general overview of how to install a rear disc brake conversion kit so unfortunately we can't cover everything. However, we assume when you say "drive shaft" you are actually referring to the axle shafts? If so, we agree, they can be challenging. A slide hammer with an attachment to bolt to the axle flange will typically make for quick work of removing them from the housing.

    Does your spacer overlap the bearing outer race? it doesn't look like it
    The original back plate is what secures the bearing, if the new spacer doesn't overlap then the bearing and half shaft will be free to move in and out of the axle housing slightly.

    • @marsv7777
      @marsv7777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point !!! But it's not the backing plate that holds the bearing, it would be the retaining plate on the axle , in this video it doesn't have it fitted, I wonder if the adapter plate clears that retainer plate as sometimes it has a bulge to clear the bearing.

    I would think it would be harder, in that instance, to get the proper torque necessary to tighten down the anchor plate bolts.
