Correction: in the video, I say that the antennas are not removable. The antennas pull out and there is an MCX connector inside. So there is some potential for aftermarket antennas.
@JoshuaBardwell, can we get some Cine-D footage? Honestly, I love your videos but sometimes it's hard to get sample footage without grading from DJI. Could be a niche for your channel. Edit: Gyroflow supported?
All test in this video were performed WITHOUT doing the "ham license" hack, which allows more channels to be used. This reflects the standard, out of the box experience, but obviously a lot of people will do the "ham license" hack and a future video will show those results.
@@armani007E55 I can't speak to that. They didn't fog up for me. But it's winter here so that's not usually an issue. They don't have a dedicated defogging fan.
I flew today with the v1 goggles. Its winter in Ontario and mine fogged up while unplugged. The fan is a must especially for people who sweat a lot or throw off immense heat through their face 😅
Been a few years since i flew, wow the tech has come a long way. Looks so nice, no static etc. Nice to see your channel still going Josh, you are the go to guy for info.
I see so many people concerned with the quality of footage after the flight, but for me having the amazing live view quality of the Goggles 2 is the best part of flying. For FPV I really find the best experience is while you're actually flying and in control, not watching the footage afterwards. The detail and clarity in the Goggles 2 is insane!
@@dangerous8333 It really is just an incremental update, they bolted on a new chip to an existing platform to improve it rather than have their OEM creating a new chip design; so other than the goggles going OLED which is far superior to what we had; whats the big deal about 1080p video feed when most of us carry hero 10/11's when we want something usable? There is also the FPVWTF hacks that put so much life into the old system that the O3 stuff should have DJI hanging their heads in absolute shame for abandoning the old system so soon.
The fact that you no longer need an action camera is definitely the main selling point of this unit. If quality is more or less the same then I am definitely in.
Not really a fan of action cameras for fpv. The O3 Air Unit is the one I need!!! Going to have pros and cons but definitely an upgrade. Amazing how far we’ve come along with technology.
I've never flown with digital but a couple months ago I did get a set of V2 goggles when they got marked down. Hopefully by spring I'll have a digital setup ready to fly and that will be my upgrade for now. This latest system will be a couple years down the road but I'm happy to see improvements and progress from all HD manufacturers.
Bro, Black Friday is in a few days. I suggest you go out and find yourself a Caddx Vista or Runcam Link (only the cameras are different) and get flying DJI digital RIGHT AWAY! Try to get a 120fps camera...i.e....not a Polar and not a Nebula Nano V2, and not a Link with the Phoenix camera. Those are all 60fps cameras. They have about 10ms of extra latency. Still very flyable, but get a 120fps to see what the potential is. Go for a Caddx Nebula Pro, Nebula Pro Nano, or a Runcan Link with the Falcon camera. The Wasp camera from Runcam also has 120fps, but no adjustable parameters for saturation, contrast, etc. in the V2 goggles, and it's stuck in 4:3 aspect ratio - So you only get the square 4:3 image (Old CRT TV image size), not an HD rectangular image of 16:9. The most these RETAIL for is $165. That's ALL YOU NEED! Not that much to get flying digital!!! 😁 - AND, you'll not want to fly analog much ever again once you fly digital - IT'S SO DAMN GOOD! 😎🤘
@@KOrnhOliO1 Agreed, 120fps is a must, especially if you are just starting with the system DO NOT use a 60fps camera, only use those for night time flying when you fully understand the latency & have been flying a while! EDIT: also it is easier for a noob starting out with 4:3 aspect, the stock DJI cameras all support it by default.
One thing no one mentions about the goggles2 is that their lenses have a much smaller sweet spot than the V2, and must be very tightly adjusted to avoid blurriness. This made me decide to go with the V2 immediately after trying them both out
to make googles so small there are too many sacrifices that have to be made, I learned that with the HD2. The V2 is in the a perfect place between large box goggles and the small ones like the goggles 2
i agree i have the v2 goggles which are really box goggles and a pair of old dominators and i am still content with both them. there's not enough improvement to justify 600- 1k for a new set of goggles and a air unit, just being realistic. if i didn't have the v2 already it might be different. besides when flying im not stopping to smell the roses at those speeds so an improved image would be for recording at most and just use an older gopro session 5 for that
JBs video on this is the best I've seen so far, as usual, nice work Joshua! Other reviewers are obsessing about the 4k dvr footage, I care more about compatibility and how it looks on the v2 goggles! Thanks for including that info
Your videos have come such a long way uncle Josh. Not that your first few videos were bad, but these are great. I love watching your videos while working or playing something after work. To top it off, you've been so extremely helpful to me and my attempts at flying, you truly are one of the best.
I'd really appreciate that mentioned video about considering DJI vs Walksnail vs HD Zero. As an flyer that's been grounded for 2 years and used the analogue "Mr Steele" setup, modernising to HD era is something I'm looking into. As always, amazing detail and information Josh 👌
Josh, don't know if anyone else has mentioned this in comments but just take the antenna and pull straight up and out it comes. Easy peasy. Great content.
I'm not able to publicly post flight footage due to conflict of interest with my job and I don't work professionally as a videographer/cinematographer so the on board video on this air unit is perfect for me. I'm gonna get the new goggles and basically factor in the cost of a new gopro which puts the goggles at $250. I don't have a digital system and my current goggles are HDO v1 so it's time lol. Thanks for the info JB!
Thanks a ton Joshua. You're still the best with giving the right amount of information on a product. That is a big step in HD fpv. And if I have extra money in the future I probably will switch to O3. But for now my V1 goggles are plenty for me. I don't really need extra resolution, normally I zoom out the picture in them because of very big FOV, so that leaves only slightly better signal quality and it is really not enough for me to start changing my gear to new system ).
I did that when I first started flying DJI digital. But, after a while of getting used to something like a 70% or 80% of the full FOV, I have stepped the screen size (FOV) up to 90% now, and I'm soon gonna try 100% again. Try slowly moving that FOV up. It's sure immersive! :)
The DJI Goggles 2 are selling for $649 as of November 22, 2022. Thanks for the review JB. I just pre-ordered two O3 transmitters/cameras. It will be great to add Avata quality video to my DYI quads and planes.
Very nice review and of course this will be a absolute game changer. I was pleased to see there is a mounting option with screws even though it's not 20x20 or 30×30 the community will definitely adapt the frame mounting for it. Thank you for all you do in our hobby! 🤟👍👏
Thank you as always for all the great info. Joshua. DJI really needs to improve fit / comfort of “Goggles2”. My biggest complaint at the moment. Thanks again for n!!! 👍👍👍
I'd take that OLED statement with a massive grain of salt. I tried both of these goggles with Avata and could barely tell any difference. Biggest difference with the goggles 2 and v2 was that the FOV of the goggles 2 is MUCH smaller and they don't get fully focused despite the adjustments.
When I bought my Avata, I was hesitant buying it with the goggles 2, because so many people complain about the fit, especially pressing on the nose... and I have a beak... but I went for the goggles 2 and so happy that I did. They are a perfect fit and a lot more comfortable than the v2s, with my glasses on. The decision now is which of my quads get the new Air O3!
The only thing I care about and the only reason I may someday get the new system is the extra range and penetration. The 720 video is good enough for me but you can never have too much range or penetration to ensure that you don't lose your quad.
I purchased the DJI integra to try out the Dji 03 air unit but prefer using it with the FPV goggles v2. The picture quality looks so good on the older goggles, and it is more comfortable for me to wear. The size and weight are marginal for me so I’ll go the route of buying the Dji 03 to replace all my old caddx units. Once the goggles 3 adds support for the Dji o3, I will switch over to that moving forward.
I like flying the O3 air unit. The quality is what I expected. I do have to say I LOVE the new goggles. Huge improvement there imo. Obviously having my choice of antenna would be better, but for what it is I’m sold
You already have it in an fpv quad? Or do you have the Avata? The new goggles aren't much of an improvement over the old ones and in many cases people like the old ones better. Most reviews on TH-cam reflect the same sentiment.
@@dangerous8333 It was in a 5” fpv quad, I was just helping build with the new system and got the opportunity to fly them. I think it’s the form factor of the goggles I enjoy the most. They fit my face without any light leak and I didn’t have to modify them. They’re light on the noggin. The IPD adjustment of the goggle got rid of the blurriness I experienced in the v1 &v2 goggles when I had the lens evenly spaced. Usually I had to fly with the lenses all the way to one side to get a clear picture. Although more testing is needed in general. Those were my quick initial thoughts of the new system.
@@ChomperFPV Oh okay. I'm getting the new air unit but already have the V2 goggles. I need to buy the freaking remote because I doubt they'll release a module for my Tango 2, so I'm hoping I don't want/need the new goggles. There's no way for me to try them without buying them though.
I have the Avata, and it looks like the same setup. Glad there is a screw mount option, but I think most just double-side tape it to the frame anyway (I like screws TBH...) The fit of the camera up front is definitely going to be an issue, especially if frame manufacturers have to redesign for just 3-4mm of extra width. The quality of the Avata camera is pretty decent, so maybe some will use it instead of a GoPro, to save weight. Great review as always!!!!
Music to my ears so glad i can use the v2 goggles on the o3 air untis i was so mad my goggles arent even 7 months old and just changed over to the dji air units i have and will be forever a analog lover and flown for years still keeping my tbs antenna module on my FS but do grealy appreciate dji and have gotten spoiled on it. THANKS JB
I will wait for the portability with the vista since I will probably only buy an O3 system and keep my 6 quads with the vista, The question is "Will the vista image improve in the new glasses when it is compatible because they are OLED?"
I want this for my 4 inch long range. Saves weight by replacing the action cam. Deff getting one for that build. Sticking eith Vista on my bando basher
Got back into FPV this year after taking a few years hiatus. I was torn between getting new analog goggles or digital goggles. I think I was happy to stick to analog. I think I mostly like the idea of stretching an analog signal as far as possible. I plan on including digital in my arsenal in the future, and with stuff like the walksnail VRX coming out, it’s gonna be easier than ever.
Same , last I flew fpv was 2018 still have my dominator v3. Got back into it last month along with cp helicopters. For as far as I fly , my dominators do just fine. Would like to try digital but that latency would be annoying for me.
@@MrDVCHITTer latency isn't as bad as you think, i had Dom v3s for 4yrs and loved them, then switched to DJI and i soon realised how bad Dom V3s really are compared to Digital, it's a whole new flying experience. As for Analogue, I'm not sure why anyone would choose it over digital nowadays.
Thanks JB, Great review. With some of the limitations of the G2 goggles, waitting is a great idea. I fly V1 with Analog Fusion mounted on the sde and love the ability to use one set of goggles. Will the G2's be able to receive the Fusion rx like the V1 & V2?? Any way, well done video as usual.
This looks juicy, I was waiting for the O3 to decide what system to get for my first FPV quad for spring, and this seems to actually strike several key concerns I had. I was worried about no WTFOS. But native betaflight osd scratches that itch enough that I can wait for WTFOS to come out (or be ok even if it never does) And the camera being good enough to replace a Gopro (for my use) is also a big saving. I guess now I just wait for the drone makers to release models with the O3 unit. Hope to see some reviews when they're out!
Please do another video comparing the new Goggles 2 to the V2 goggles AFTER you have COMPLETELY TWEAKED the adjustable parameters in the V2 goggles, available with 120fps cameras. This CAN make a HUGE difference in how the image in the V2 goggles looks when compared to the OLED Goggles 2. I anticipated most V2 goggle owners don't tweak their settings for things like contrast, saturation, brightness, sharpness, etc. BUT, when tweaked, they will get the V2 goggles much closer to in goggle image quality when compared to the Goggles 2. I'd love to see how close you can get them. Thanks very much for considering doing this comparison video for us. 😎🤘
The bottom line for me is there's no way to make up the absurd brightness and contrast ratio of OLED. You simply can't do it. You can make an LCD screen look as good as it can, and an OLED will still always blow it away.
Sorry if I missed something when you were talking about the antennas on the goggles 2. But the little fold down antennas just pull out and there is a connector inside there.
$229 is better than I was expecting. The onboard video recording is going to be great for a ton of people that don't need the absolute best. You said it works with gyroflow. Does that mean there's a gyro file it saves alongside the video?
Im happy to see you off the DJI blacklist😂 You are the best reviewer of FPV products of all time! I must have 20k in boxes of stuff in places I don’t even know. Keep it up my friend
Basically fixes my concern with the original system of the image looking oversharpened. The camera quality of the new o3 is night and day better than anything on the market. The goggle records the osd on-board. I am so glad i passed the walksnail vrx deal as saving up to goto this system in spring will be the best option tbh.
V2 goggles battery pack also 9nly allows voltage passthrough for charging the pack itself with any USB c cable, and also only dishes out power for specific applications. For example using the dji usbc to barrel for goggles only. Any goggle. I can't storage charge them. Dji usbc has a chip I believe that tells the pack to work or not based on a few factors
When you tested the v2 vs 2 reception, it seems that the whole 2 and O2 system has linear antennas and you tested the v2 with CP antenanna (i think even the iflight patches are CP) you need to compare with linear antennas on the v2 goggles or 2xCP antennas on the quad, I would love to see the same track done with walksnail and the true RC set and good antenna on the avatar vtx
Have had the dji fpv a year now. Was not able to really use it much in the past 9 months. Just recently acquired the Avata w goggles 2 a couple of weeks ago and have now had time to put in to them. I'm finding my self chicken shit to go full manual as I really am a noob. I have been on the sim religiously lately to practice and really love the entire concept of fpv. As I prefer the video quality feedback from either dji drones and have no clue how you avid fpvers use blocky noisy analog without getting skull ache, I'm definitely going 03 in a RTF, currently on GetFPV in a 5inch s6. I'm not afraid to crash a custom as these are much easier for me to repair and I already have everything else dji, so this I think makes more sense. As I'm not familiar with part compatibility between all the manufacturers I have chosen to go RTF, but my next custom I will build myself after getting more familiar with components etc.
Hello. If someone goes digital and for DJI the best option is to go with the goggles 2. Someone who is on digital with the V2 there is no need to switch to the goggles 2 since the onboard recording of the AU O3 is amazing. Yes OLED is amazing but not necessary for freestyle, bando etc for me! And not to mention the 99 dollars for a replacement O3 camera!!
Bought the walksnail vrx but I am really liking the idea of picking up some v2 goggles and having the backward compatibility with digital dji quads prior and retaining my HDO’s with walksnail vrx for further compatibility. I would really like to go with o3 and drop the GoPro 8 to get increased flight times and performance. Protech 35 with the o3 would be a money setup.
I bought the Avata with the goggles 2 as my first fpv and ever since I’ve watched so many of your videos. Looks like I’ll be buying a quad with the 03 air unit and learn to do some mountain surfing and chasing my friends on their mountain bikes here in Switzerland 🇨🇭 Thanks for all work you put into your videos!
From the store, the new antennas suggest that they are dual-polarised and dual-band. It's possible that even though it didn't allow you to select 2.4GHz, it was also using it during the tests which could explain why your aftermarket antennas didn't perform as well. It's also worth noting that the store claims that the Avata's ND filters fit onto this camera. The Googles 2 include head tracking, is this exposed as output channels by the O3 air unit? (With or without the controller) In the UK, the Googles 2 are listed at £729 while the FPV Goggles V2 are listed at £489.
i dont think i wil buy it, i wanted to even though i only have the v2 for just over a year. im stil verry pleased about my v2 and air unit and it has not let me down so far, going behind lots of wet trees etc, it just works. also about the HD cam replacement, if you dont use a HD cam becouse of the 03, then you have to always fly with a steep 25-30 degree camera angle to match your HD cam setup and probably always have props in view. i also think its better to have a HD cam higher up it makes loops look better than having only a cam right between the props.
Getting back to hobby after few years O3 looks very interesting quality is very acceptable * no more separate cam -less weight and cost* but its costly taking into consideration i need all HD gear setup right now things adds up really fast ,ive been flying analog last time and sold it all since i could not afford to buy new drone and cam (ive lost my Flywoo LR :/ ) hopefully that prices will go down after 11th april considering also used stuff to get into air in a moth or so. Tnx for all detailed vids , helps a lot.
What channels does it use (frequency). Do the align with current channels? How much bandwidth is each channel using? Compatibility issues when flying with other people and systems, physical separation required? Isn't the power and baud rate automatic, meaning you could potentially stomp others? Can the power output be reduced? The list can go on.
Today when I was using my DJI FPV goggles 2 I reached up to take them off and pulled out one of the antenna. I was able to slide it back into a slot and it popped back into place.
People said size doesn't matter for old DJI Goggles V2 design. Obvoiusly it is big, heavy and cringe design of jet fighter helmet. 7:58 the size does matter. We know all great analog FPV goggle is about size and image quality. No doubt DJI got excellent fpv image, the down side is the size of the goggle V2. And now DJI understand what is FPV goggle all about. Now DJI left 1 thing to make it perfect overall FPV system, the latency. Whatever it is DJI goggle 2 and new air unit are outstanding. Now your money spend well. I am still in analog, just casual fpv pilot. Love to see new improvement from DJI. Great job DJI.
Hey Josh, the Antennas are removable. Yesterday i removed it inadvertently on Friends Goggles. In there ist a SMA Connector. Only need to pull off the Antennas, the are only plugged in.
Love that shirt! Also even though I don’t change much as for gear still like the info. The old air unit replaced my gopro. Even though I have new 11mini. But wouldn’t use it on quad to heavy and prefer older air units. #1 smaller controller works # 2 new form factor those are my favorites things that could cause me to upgrade.
Okay, a few questions: - how about the range? Did it significantly increase? Is there a difference while using v2/2 goggles? - is lens replacable, like the lens cover in gopros? We know its important because of the grass etc, while we train... - how about the props in view? Do we need the more cinema frame, or true X will work? - you mentioned v2 goggles are limited while using o3 comparing to goggles 2 - is the only difference about the 810-1080p thing or is it something more? I specificaly ask about the on board recording feature, do we miss something while using v2? Cheers JB!
still loving the vista and my V1s.... cant beat the value! no need to jump on these yet.... maybe when backwards to vista is confirmed with Goggles 2 I grab a new/second set... and maybe I run a 03AU on a premium cruising rig
Some people have mentioned that Goggle2 can fog more easily (Avata flyers). This might be due to smaller air volume near the face, and how much air moves thru the fan. The Goggles V2, (V2) are less prone to fogging in humid, or cool climates.
I knew a long time ago I wanted to get into DJI, currently I just have my Radiomaster (eachiene) tx16x flashed with with edge tx radio but haven't gotten to a build yet, been spending all my time in simulators, but I've always learned the most from your videos, now I just need to hold out a little longer and go with the goggles 2 and the o3 controller also need to get my commercial license as my step mom is now a realtor and I have proposed a business deal with her once I get my license to get some shots of houses. So once I'm ready to make my first couple builds I'll be using the affiliate links.. I wanna make a cinewoop for that stuff and I want to make me a good freestyle drone, thanks for the informative videos.
On one hand they are so good it seems to be ideal for 250g freestyle 3,5-4", but gyro location seems to be quite bad idea I would love to see gyro located in camera. Flying in flat seems to be quite annoying, maybe in googles it is possible to add some saturation. It would be nice to see how it performs in low light condition and if there will be any other manufacture making compatible cameras. Even considering this drawbacks it performs so well.
RE: OLED screens and resolution versus contrast. The human eye is orders of magnitude more sensitive to differences in dynamic range/contrast than linear resolution. 1080p from a cinema camera will in almost all situations be perceived as better looking footage than 4k footage from an action camera, for example. Look at the history of Arri digital cinema cameras, and their attitude towards the move to 4k - there are several videos of them talking about the importance of color and dynamic range over resolution.
since I have the V1 glasses, I would first have to upgrade to the V2 or the new glasses, which would not be cheap then. Then I could also buy walksnail
@JoshuaBardwell the antennas just pull out of the Goggles 2. Just pull up on them and they come out. Also, the internal antennas are crossed in the center front of the goggles 2. MadsTech has a tear down video of the goggles 2 if you want to see them inside. I can also tell you from experience (I have the avata), it does not play nice with analog on any channel. But I have flown with as many as 4 people on HD using Walksnail, and Caddx systems and using channel 1 is best. But you want to use channel 3 when flying by yourself because it seems it get's more penetration as well as distance.
will replace old sessions, cheap sub 150 action cams, but no sound is a bit of a pain, the original air had sound recording, isnt a deal breaker for me but im disappointed
As always JB you present the best points of view to evaluate from to make decisions to hold or buy. Flying for the immersive FPV experience seems DJI is still king. I want way beyond what still has yet to be pioneered and made for consumers. Seems only DJI has the level of viability and R&D funds to create STABLE non BETA working products. Non on a tech level to just go create and engineer what I see is inevitably coming. All the parts and pieces and features are still all spread around; NONE, save for perhaps the military well beyond consumer. Thanx for your continued devotion and passion for teaching in this hobby with the attention to contrast comparative detail that you and only you do. Happy Holidays
I started this video thinking I would get the Goggles 2 once they're backward compatible, and then probably put the O3 air unit into any new build quads, but the sizing issue and the lack of being able to change the output power is an absolute killer for me. Just the goggles 2 for me then, but, not counted my chickens just yet
Josh, Thank you for making this very informative review. You and @Kabab, have provided exactly what I needed to make a selection for my first FPV drone.
32:11 Maybe around 600 US$? The only store I found here in France (official DJI retailer) lists them at 850€. So 1100€ for google + a full o3 system... outch
Hi..dear..again as usual you are the number 1..thanks for you amazing explanation..I have just 1 issues. I wasn't able to bind the new air unit O3 with the googles V2..I tried all..updated software..please any concern?. Thanks
The part where your signal drops I think you're flying so the intersection of powerlines is right between you and the drone. They form a magnetic field in the air, which is essentially a faraday cage. It's how commercial airliners protect their avionics systems from passenger cellphones, because they're *really* good at killing radiosignals.
Thanks for the review. I have been waiting for the OC3 air unit since I got the Avata. So happy I can use the Dji rc on my apex now. Love the avata but love the 6s 5” better.
I have the v2 goggles and want the o3 air unit but pretty bummed I also would have to buy another transmitter to use it. And on top of that, have to keep my old dji transmitter to use my vista's.
Hey Joshua, I think a good video for you to make would be to show everyone all the gear you’ve accumulated over the years, and how you organize it all. I’d definitely love to see it, and I know lots of people would too!
Awesome video Joshua. Very rounded and objective. 2 things though: 1) with that many cooling slots in the new O3 air unit, I presume it won’t have the same water resistance as the Vista - can you confirm? (And I guess there’s no care refresh for them either). And secondly, in broadcast mode, can you broadcast to the V2 goggles if you upgrade to the Goggles 2, so there’s still a use for the V2 Goggles if a director etc. wants to see your video feed as you fly? That would be very cool. Thanks for another great video.
I see no reason why you both couldn't be watching the same feed, each having a set of goggles. If you are trying to sell them on your services, I'd be giving the director your Googles 2 to watch from.
I’ve never seen a comparison between stabilized and unstabilized footage before - does the stabilized version usually initiate turns before the unstabilized footage? That’s what I was seeing, particularly on the aggressive flips, and I thought that seemed a little weird (not necessarily a bad thing, just different). In any case, I probably won’t be getting this system. I’m still not convinced that DJI actually cares about the FPV community, and I’m also not really excited to be upgrading goggles every 1-2 years when Analog or HDZero both seem like they’ll allow me to use the same goggles for 3-5+ years.
Correction: in the video, I say that the antennas are not removable. The antennas pull out and there is an MCX connector inside. So there is some potential for aftermarket antennas.
MMCX? :)
What frame did you mount the new air unit in?
@JoshuaBardwell, can we get some Cine-D footage? Honestly, I love your videos but sometimes it's hard to get sample footage without grading from DJI. Could be a niche for your channel.

@@KOrnhOliO1 What about a Walksnail avatar hd solution ? I am sill hesitating...
@@KOrnhOliO1 I appreciate the info. Thanks!
Piece of cake. But hey some people struggle with binoculars too. 🤷
i agree i have the v2 goggles which are really box goggles and a pair of old dominators and i am still content with both them. there's not enough improvement to justify 600- 1k for a new set of goggles and a air unit, just being realistic. if i didn't have the v2 already it might be different. besides when flying im not stopping to smell the roses at those speeds so an improved image would be for recording at most and just use an older gopro session 5 for that
Problem for me is I tried a friend's V2's and they gave me a headache within a few minutes...
God bless you bardwell for these amazing reviews, the consistency in quality and output is unparalleled
@@KOrnhOliO1 I guess it depends on flying style. I am more in learning aggressive freestyle and thinking more about zooming out even more ).
Yes, 3D printing an adapter is something so simple, it's really not worth make a big deal about the mounting size.
@@KOrnhOliO1 disagree, it's a pain without a printer
@@asdfasdfasdfasdfzzzz 😁Fact.
Joshua, u can just pull up the antennas on the new goggles, I did it. It seats in place when u put it back in.
Here in Europe on November 23 2022, the cost of the dji goggles 2 is 849 € which is 879,71 USD, it's very expensive in my opinion.
Always an argument for me is that I can wear my glasses underneath the v2 goggles and I like that very much ! Great review
I am sooo glad I waited for 03 review. Thank you Bardwell! Walksnail is too overpriced if you compare it to DJI o3
@@dangerous8333 hey what's the link with the tango 2. U're using crossfire with the O3 unit it's okay
THANKS JB
Wow wow wow ! amazing product ! But I'm still not sure it will replace my gopro 11
JB is my hero
Fast as lightning ⚡️
Boom! Came here for ALL the infos. Thanks so much Joshua!!! Can’t wait to get mine!
The antennas on the goggles 2 snap in. They pop off if you pull straight out.
Thanks for the detailed review. BTW, you can take the antennas out by pulling them out.
This looks juicy, I was waiting for the O3 to decide what system to get for my first FPV quad for spring, and this seems to actually strike several key concerns I had.
I was worried about no WTFOS. But native betaflight osd scratches that itch enough that I can wait for WTFOS to come out (or be ok even if it never does)
And the camera being good enough to replace a Gopro (for my use) is also a big saving.
I love the googles, but i hate the right angled plug it doesnt match with the goggles dc input placement.
This was very helpful. Thank you! Keep doing what you do. I think the upgrades and new features on the O3 Air Unit’s worth it.
If you have the avata the 03 is for you but the frames need to catch up to the swole camera. Ready and waiting.
Hi joshua , the top antennas are removable. Pull them, it’s a clickable connector
You can simply pull out the two external antennas to replace them. I am sure there will be third party antennas soon.
Looks like I’ll be buying a quad with the 03 air unit and learn to do some mountain surfing and chasing my friends on their mountain bikes here in Switzerland 🇨🇭
Thanks for all work you put into your videos!
That's awesome I use V2 goggles and air unit and I hope I can go surf mountains in Switzerland because I'm not very far
is the Walksnail system worth considering when this exists?
Hello, the polarity of the antennas of both the goggles and the 03 air unit are LHCP.
(With or without the controller)
In the UK, the Googles 2 are listed at £729 while the FPV Goggles V2 are listed at £489.
I was thinking the same. Maybe a test with stock V2 antennas would be a good idea since they are dual band.
i dont think i wil buy it, i wanted to even though i only have the v2 for just over a year.
im stil verry pleased about my v2 and air unit and it has not let me down so far, going behind lots of wet trees etc, it just works.
also about the HD cam replacement, if you dont use a HD cam becouse of the 03, then you have to always fly with a steep 25-30 degree camera angle to match your HD cam setup and probably always have props in view.
i also think its better to have a HD cam higher up it makes loops look better than having only a cam right between the props.
Great review! Love the attention to all the little but actually useful details
Bravo 👏👏 JB, you're off the DJI banned review list. 😂😂 Glad to see them sending you the new system to review. Awesome.
The way I see it, DJI finally has something worth Joshua's review.
I don't see it as DJI blessing Joshua. 😂
Great job DJI.
we have tried to fly 4 avatas at our field at same time no go three works fine
Hey Josh, the Antennas are removable. Yesterday i removed it inadvertently on Friends Goggles. In there ist a SMA Connector. Only need to pull off the Antennas, the are only plugged in.
Love that shirt! Also even though I don’t change much as for gear still like the info. The old air unit replaced my gopro. Even though I have new 11mini. But wouldn’t use it on quad to heavy and prefer older air units.
#1 smaller controller works
# 2 new form factor those are my favorites things that could cause me to upgrade.
Okay, a few questions:
- how about the range?
The Goggles V2, (V2) are less prone to fogging in humid, or cool climates.
the antennas on top just pull off. As always, great work on this review of the O3 air unit.
DJI should link to this video from their website. It's so confusing for a n00b and this lays it out perfectly.
Thanks for the footage AND upload in 60fps ! 🙂
They where available in the dji shop uk at 1 pm to add to cart now at 14.45 there all gone and can only reserve them now
@JoshuaBardwell the antennas just pull out of the Goggles 2.
Wow that was impressively informative, clear and concise. Thanks!
Josh,
Thank you for making this very informative review. You and @Kabab, have provided exactly what I needed to make a selection for my first FPV drone.
Have to say im pretty impressed. And with 4k playback that can compare to a gopro11 hero... Watch out.
Love the avata but love the 6s 5” better.
does the "old" black bulkier dji fpv remote controller with with o3 air unit? i guess not but asking anyway.. thanks
No it doesn't.
@@JoshuaBardwell thanks for fast reply appreciate it
Nice review JB 👍🏼 saving the weight of an action is a game changer. Hope to see more comparison on video quality
If not buying a 500 go pro im in. Thank for all your years of free info.
If you can’t open up the o3 air unit and waterproof it you could have an expensive brick.
You can just pull to the top the goggles 2 antennas ;)
