The reason HDMI dongles don't work with DJI Fly is because the goggles and phone have to reverse the USB host and gadget roles due to the Android Accessory Protocol. Fly should work if you plug the dongle into the Goggles side, but obviously HDMI won't do anything like that.

Great video Joxhua! I have noticed that the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 will work with the DJI O3 Air Unit however the Expo/Gain and Button options are not selectable. This makes it very difficult if not impossible to fly with the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 and I am forced to install my Crossfire system.
My goggle2 hAve active a fan for fog. I remember the first white dog goggles dji had. I am one of the persons that couldn’t use it. Cause I sweat a lot in my face. This is a none existing problem in the goggles 2. (Not the small ones to the Avata) but the bigger that was with the dji fpv Drone 😊
O3 died just after 3rd short flight. Light (GREEN/RED) turns on and quickly turns off. It was working fine (activate/update/bind/link).O3/Goggles V2/RC2 link went off and LED light on O3 unit turned off. Now when powered on via FC (GEPRC F722 40A AIO, 6S battery) - LED on O3 comes on for a split of a sec, goes off and then nothing. My drone got crashed because O3 got off while in the mid of the flight, i lost goggles video feed. Then if i remove the battery and plug it back in the green light comes and goes in a second. Connecting O3 directly to the computer via USB cable (same computer, same USB port/cable that used to work before): 1. O3 LED turns GREEN for 2 - 3 sec 2. While the LED is on, Windows Device Manager shows "Unknown device" 3. O3 LED turns off 4. Unknown device disappears from device manager 5. DJI Assistant 2 does not see O3 anymore 6. O3 internal storage does not show up in Windows file explorer 7. O3 get a little bit warm (not hot) if I keep it connected to USB cable This exact same problem someone else had and posted on DJI forum. and now i m having the same issue. Who else do have? any fixes?
Josh Prince of FPV could you do a DJI round up? I have a set of goggles v2 and I dip in and out of the dji news is there still firmware updates that people shouldn't do like in the past or is it all safe now??
That is the srt file for the air unit. What about the file for goggle's recording? Perhaps the goggle's recording has the latency and the other records on a separate srt file?
That's what I'm telling you. There isn't one on the goggles. Except if you are using V2 goggles then it's there as usual. But on Goggles 2, it's not there.
I appreciate you bardwell cause you can man up and be honest. So when I say this it doesn't apply to strictly bardwell. All these people doing reviews are in such a hurry do drop there video for views and product link in description. I get it this is how you make your money. But ooofff I feel horrible for the people who rushed right away on stuff and then had issues. Like the avata drone. Glad I have patience but then again I'm always behind catching up. May not be such a bad thing. Again props to this man for making another video but to late for alot if there's things now that's a deal breaker
Hi great video BTW, I have a crazy question, is it possible to use this camera as an action camera only, without video transmission. and powered from the USB C port, I like the size of this unit and it would be great to mount the camera on a helmet and stick the main unit on the side of the helmet and power through a USB connection, and the price is great, so is it possible to opperate this without goggles. In other words power up and start recording from your phone ??. Also would the on screen data be recorded or can it be turned off on the internal video recording. Thank you in advance.
Great video, thanks for this. One question, at time 20:20 the explanation of the FOV does not line up with what you are showing. maybe I am mistaken, but I'd be grateful for some clarification here. What I am noticing is the FOV changes when you arm if using > 60fps. For example, if I am in 4:3, 2.7k, 120fps, when I arm, the image FOV goes down (zooms in). If I select 100fps it zooms less, and at 60fps there is no zoom, the image looks same as when not armed. The same is true if using 1080, 120fps crops most, 100fps less, then 60fps does not crop at all. Again, this only happens at the moment you arm. after you disarm, 10sec later of so and it goes back to wider FOV. Has anyone else noted this. I am running o3 firmware 01/02.00.00 (latest as of MAR 10. 2023) , on V2 googles (firmware 01.06.00.00).
People are suspicous of DJI for a reason I was forced to update my mini 2 around october 2022 and my altitude was limited to 500 meters. no limits exsisted beforehand.
There are too many comments to check, but if you can get video to your phone, can you cast your phone to a TV? I have a 55 inch TCL Roku TV that I can cast Apple devices like iPhone and iPad to it. So essentially I can cast the goggle view if it's appearing on my iPhone, correct?
After putting the code in cli in betaflight, to use the osd the quad did not recognise my crossfire receiver no matter what uart it was on, I figured I'll try my crossfire on sbus then it recognised the receiver, so having to use crossfire on sbus.
Great video. The power difference between FCC and CE affects both Controller and goggles or only one of them? Which one? I’m about to buy a cinebot30 O3 in ELRS version. Tks, brother!
Regarding the video out for the o3 unit is this only for android as I’ve tried and tried on iPhone and just get device not supported on the v2 Googles🤔
again, so great review, but i'm still a bit confused if the goggles 2 are supporting the DJI Air Unit and vista? in some quite recent other review, it is claimed it is not supported, even on DJI website if i'm not wrong.
the FCC hack does not work on the DJI Goggles 2 with consumer firmware - mads tech taked about it in his new video unfortunately .. deal breaker for me in the EU!
When this first came out I guess I assumed that they were a standalone video transmission system that could be used on any fpv platform. Be it a drone or an airplane or even a radio controlled car. I would imagine that it can be done but could this be used with just the goggles for video transmission while using say another company's radio and receiver on a car?
Yes you can use another controller and receiver. But if the O3 is not connected to a flight controller it won't go to full power and performance will be poor.
really enjoy these much more in-depth videos. It shows just how much DJI dropped the ball on so many aspects. I'm still rocking the V1's, I have plenty of vistas and replacement cameras and seeing how DJI is being waaaaay too Apple, I won't be buying anymore DJI products for some time.
Hi, my airunit O3 is very hot, I can't figure out how powerful it works. I have the FCC hack installed. The power meter showed ~4w in lower state mode and ~12w without it. Can I see the transmission performance in some software? I didn't observe dynamic power changes. The power consumption doesn't differ when in close proximity, even when the signal has almost disappeared. I don't like this approach because why should my airunit O3 operate at maximum power when it's only 5 meters away from me?!
The healthy dose between honesty and accountability is so hard to judge. Don't ever beat yourself up you're appreciated.
i would really appreciate a 20 minute video off fardwell beating himself up. 2 minutes would also be very wel recieved.

Well now I feel stupid. Ignore my post I haven't used Betaflight for a while.
21:30 The 4:3 footage got mislabeled as 4K60 here. But it is marked 2.7K60 on the phone card, and you do point out afterwards 4:3 can't do 4K.
Good catch.
For Dji o3 unit googles 2 is better option for you Joshua?
My goggle2 hAve active a fan for fog. I remember the first white dog goggles dji had. I am one of the persons that couldn’t use it. Cause I sweat a lot in my face. This is a none existing problem in the goggles 2. (Not the small ones to the Avata) but the bigger that was with the dji fpv
Drone 😊
The bigger ones are not goggles 2 they are v2 goggles. I'm talking about the smaller goggles 2 that came with Avata.
Connecting O3 directly to the computer via USB cable (same computer, same USB port/cable that used to work before):
1. O3 LED turns GREEN for 2 - 3 sec
2. While the LED is on, Windows Device Manager shows "Unknown device"
3. O3 LED turns off
4. Unknown device disappears from device manager
5. DJI Assistant 2 does not see O3 anymore
6. O3 internal storage does not show up in Windows file explorer
7. O3 get a little bit warm (not hot) if I keep it connected to USB cable
This exact same problem someone else had and posted on DJI forum. and now i m having the same issue. Who else do have? any fixes?
Yall finally got me , just ordered the DJI Goggles 2 😂
The rebind problem to me is like DJI just trying to annoy the V2 users, force them to switch to goggle2, it really doesn’t like a bug
The 2 systems share the same memory space, and it overwrites each time you change. They're likely to fix it this update
Hello! does it have a built-in microphone? transmits the audio to the glasses? Or just record it. Thank you and very good your video!
No, it doesn't do either.
What the heck is that on your V2 lenses 04:05 Also cool strap, what is it? 04:20
Josh Prince of FPV could you do a DJI round up? I have a set of goggles v2 and I dip in and out of the dji news is there still firmware updates that people shouldn't do like in the past or is it all safe now??
Now that Butter can roll back firmware, it seems like there's no risk of locking yourself out of Root.
@@JoshuaBardwell ah ok thanks for the clarification 👍
That’s a bit much bro.
The camera does not power up from USBC.
Any idea on what the max range is?
After putting the code in cli in betaflight, to use the osd the quad did not recognise my crossfire receiver no matter what uart it was on, I figured I'll try my crossfire on sbus then it recognised the receiver, so having to use crossfire on sbus.
and Joshua (too) did learn something today ;)
Great video. The power difference between FCC and CE affects both Controller and goggles or only one of them? Which one? I’m about to buy a cinebot30 O3 in ELRS version. Tks, brother!
You can definitely use gyroflow with the hero 6. I do it all the time and gyroflow works much better than reelsteady.
Yeah same with me. Hero 7 no problem with gyroflow
Regarding the video out for the o3 unit is this only for android as I’ve tried and tried on iPhone and just get device not supported on the v2 Googles🤔
Same here 🤦♂️
That's what I'm hearing. Only android is working at this time.
Can confirm video out works on iphone now from my testing
@@420ICUP hey, how did you end up getting it to work on iphone? thanks
again, so great review, but i'm still a bit confused if the goggles 2 are supporting the DJI Air Unit and vista? in some quite recent other review, it is claimed it is not supported, even on DJI website if i'm not wrong.
It is not currently supported but it will be supported soon, expected by the end of December.
the FCC hack does not work on the DJI Goggles 2 with consumer firmware - mads tech taked about it in his new video unfortunately .. deal breaker for me in the EU!
V2s do have the power to record OSD. If WTFOS can do it dji can do it easily
looks like u forgot to drop an amazon link for the device that connects to phone to give HDMI output.

Hey Mike does it still work? I have an RC PRO but it won't connect to my goggles 2 like your video.. Any tips to get this working?
Can you provide some example of this? What’s did they drop the ball on
Always the best🔥
Did you update your V2 FPV goggles with DJI's firmware? Are you no longer using the wtf fpv hack?
"FPVknowitall... I don't actually know it all, it's just a brand" -- actual Joshua Bardwell quote
