Flying this litthe bad boy for two weeks now. Really like it! Currently tinkering with settings for indoor flying, but outdoor it's a blast. Ah, and in regards to the USB-C Port. There is a USB-C Cable included with a 90° Angle, which fits!
Betafpv released pro version of pavo 20. Which one will be a better choice. I am not fearing from nakeding o3 but not sure heath will be a problem. Will be my first drone 😄. I am following you at least 4 years
I've crashed mine about 200 times. Very durable. I replaced the lower cage 1x so far. It flies great. Flight times sometimes extend to 4 minutes on the 750mah. (naked)
bought this when it came out as my first quad in 10 years (man things have changed!) just to bash around my yard with, and I had a spare 03 from my wings that went in it. it was pretty good, but it sat on the shelf alot, just too heavy with a standard air unit, flight times left alot to be desired, and it just felt "mooshy". Ended up putting in a de-cased caddx vista / nebula pro, which removed a ton of wieght, and now I fly it every day, that wieght made all the difference. Obviously the vista isn't an 03, but it's cheaper, and lighter than an 03, and for my use, no measurable difference, other than the lack of an onboard dvr. (I don't make content, I just like flying, so not a big deal). I would like to add one thing for anyone using a de-cased HD vtx...I HIGHLY recommend installing a vtx switch, it's a half a gram worth of not killing your vtx. without the case/heatsinks, even at low power, things get hot FAST. If you crash somewhere where it takes a bit of time to get to the quad to recover, and your vtx is still on, even in low power, you will probably cook it. (edit, I have a first version, apparently the newer ones have a switched bec for the vtx). As far as durability goes, I am an ok pilot at best, and I had bounced this thing off so many objects, including a running ceiling fan after a few too many sips, and have never broken anything.
The Mobula 8 frame is made of glass. I’ve replaced about 5 of those already. I also have the FlyLens 85 HDZ and I absolutely love this quad. No frame breaks yet. LEDs built on. Really fun to fly. If you worried about the air unit being exposed to the elements FlyWoo also sells a water protection spray you can use. Would be nice if they coated it before they sent it out.
I have the Flylens 75 and the frame is insane, I've crashed many many times, nothing breaking, only thing that happens is the camera jumps out of socket and you put it back ezpz
That is interesting. I've gone through 5 of the Flylens 85s. They are horrendously fragile specifically the grommet mount point that sits behind the camera. The reason why is because that specific mounting point is much thinner than the other 2.
I just picked one of these up last week, and I'm thrilled with the performance. I even bought an extra frame so I can cut the Hoops off and fly it like a toothpick! 🥳🤙🏻🔥
I did a naked 03, the full naked, even deleted the SD card slot, and got the mob 8 down to 62 G using a 40 mm mipi. It blasted off like a rocket, but it still didn't handle with the Precision that this guy does, especially with the naked 03. They also have a very different flight characteristic. The mob 8 felt very top-heavy and squirrely, while this feels a lot more predictable and powerful, I'm assuming because a lot of the power of the motors isn't lost to vibration.
The shown Flylens 85 is an old version, there's a new V1.3 Frame and a new GOKU F405 AIO FC V2, which has USB-C and a switchable VTX BEC, so we can finally power off the O3 by remote controller.
Came here to point this out. The usbc FC had a problem with cutting out power to the 03 and turning the camera off mid flight. Flywoo will give you a 15% coupon to buy more of their products that they won’t stand behind
Try the naked 03 on the mobula 8 just need a zip tie to hold it in. It's pretty good super light but I want to know what you think about the comparison after you've tried the mob8 vs lens with both naked.
I have it from the first time, now I mounted walksnail moonlight , still flew great I will post some videos on my channel soon because I’m really pleased with the flight performance, the propwash handling is unbelievable I really don’t know how they do it, center of gravity for sure it’s a good point
This is perfect I was looking to buy a little whoop o was looking today for one only thing is I wanted a 4s whoop but one of these might do thanks jb 👍👍👍👍
The real oversight on Flywoos part was releasing this quad with this flight controller that had an admitted problem with cutting power to the 03 unit. Show us the video of you replacing the burnt flight controller with the new v2 white hat has a 9v 2a BEC because I think the one in this video has been discontinued. You’ll have to modify that frame slightly for the new bigger USBC plug to stick out the top. I went back and forth with getfpv and flywoo trying to fix mine, getfpv said talk to flywoo flywoo offered me a discount code for their website to buy more parts they won’t stand behind. I would love to see a video on the new GOKU F405 HD 1-2s 12A AIO ELES V2 and hear your take on this.
I can't wrap my head around buying a $100 aircraft bundled with a $230 video system that clearly wasn't designed for it. But I will 100% buy something like this as PNP/ no vtx once I have some 03's laying around in my bigger quads. Because it still looks fun as hell.
I have several small O3 quads. I think they're a lot of fun. I just cruise around so it doesn't take much to make me happy I like these little 2" quads. I rarely fly analog whoops since getting a couple small O3 whoops.
I've got two of these. One with the default tune and one with a "mellower" tune. They are mostly amazing. Cons: frame and VTX basket aren't so durable. I've replaced 1 frame and 2 VTX baskets. Another con, at least for me, when trying to do flippy floppies it suffers from propwash, etc. Regardless of the cons, I'd buy another one.
How well does the cage for the O3 protect the air unit. The Savagebee is fun with the ultra naked O3, but the cage doesn’t provide much protection for the air
If you want to go under 250g I'd suggest GepRC cinelog 25 v2 O3 with 720mAH 4S battery have 246g and it you can do it all! I crashed it couple times and it's super durable except props (you will need some spares), you can do flips and tricks and you can also do amazing cinematic shots. Maybe you can review this one next time? :)
It's all about the weight distribution. With the 03 on top, it's obviously more top heavy. Getting the center of gravity down towards the bottom makes it fly more naturally. The camera up front is offset by the lipo, to a certain extent. But it's the 03 below the prop line that makes a significant difference. Me, I don't care about 4k footage, so I know this would fly so much better with a naked Vista and a Nebula Pro Nano camera! Just think about how low the weight would be then!!! 😎🤘
This is a good ol' Bardwell review, and I like that. Is it time to drop the old adage that an AIO is too risky? Up to a 3.5" basher I think maybe so. Sure, if a FET lets out the factory installed magic smoke you absolutely are stuck with replacing the whole thing. But we're seeing 45 amp FETs ... That's a lot of headroom. I'm not hearing a lot of shouting over reliability. At the end, I personally will take reliability over agility. I just don't want to be in a position where I have to warranty or replace parts because I had a bump.
Dear brothers in arms, what are recommended battery specs for both short aggressive and also rather more conservative longer flight times? Many thanks!
for the usb i took some sand paper or dremel would work also and just shaved it down some, the 90 degree usb c thing does work but not always and its a pain if i happen to forget it.
I see Flywoo has the Flylens 85 with Walksnail Moonlight 4k, too. It does start getting up there in price, but it's still significantly less than the naked O3 onboard, as would be expected. I already had a Firefly 2S Nano Baby 20 in my cart, and of course I'd have to see this video. *LOL*
The problem with aspiring to do acro in this style and size is the unprotected camera. The prop guards also create inefficiency. So while the naked 03 may be fantastic, it kinda goes against the design factors of a cinematic quad.
Thx for the review. Pls include availibility of spare parts to these whoop reviews. There are quite some deltas. According to your shirt, you will somewhen have to repair it ;-)
🆘 help. I've just bought this drone bnf but I have no idea how to arm it with DJI rc. The goggles and RC seem to be connected but I have no idea how to start the motors. Thank you 👍🏻
I recently opted for the pavo20 because of the 3s battery and proper full air unit capability also the ability to switch between ducted and ductless fairly easily. Although everybody seems to love the flylen85 naked. I wonder why there is no bnf manufacturer offering designs that offer hotswapabillity of the o3 air unit? After all it is pretty expensive to buy one for every quad in the fleet when your never flying them at the same time. Also why buy more Air units when the O4 is around the corner? Why does betafpv for example not make a 3,5 freestyle frame that carry’s the Pavo 20 canopy? Any ideas?
@joshua Bardwell - the newer models of Flylens85 come with ICM 42688 gyro instead of MPU6000 They don't fly as good unfortunately. Wish flywoo stuck with the MPU 6000. Will be selling mine and find another option
Any chance of getting a betaflight 4.5 cli dump for this quad? I have this and I would love to make use of EZlanding with this. Every time I land this it flips over.
I'm new to drones, so pardon the question if it's stupid, but... I thought that tiny whoops were intended for indoor use. If flying outdoors, why wouldn't you go with something larger?
Say you are flying around an actor or an expensive vehicle. It's safer to fly the smallest drone you can. Hobbyists sometimes choose smaller drones because they are easier to transport and make less noise.
Although we think of them as linked, high frequency oscillation =/= prop wash. This thing is oscillating but footage is not showing that the quad is actually experiencing the destabilizing effects of propwash.
I want to like this drone but Im a little scared as I had the analog version of the FlyLens85 and one of the motors broke upon landing two separate times.. Im not sold on this frames reliability in how it protects the motors but hopefully if you dont ever crash or have "hard landings" it would be better for you.
I’ve this at home with GPS. The drone is amazing, but the GPS unit is not. It takes 10 minutes (powered vía USB) to start obtaining sats, then I wait another 20 minutes to let the GPS obtain the almanac (note the USB power doe not turn O3 on). Even under that conditions, if you turn the GPS on two days later the almanac is lost. Maybe the GPS battery is not working but the drone was new!
Buy extra battery holders or make your own strap . That camera mount will get busted, buy hardware kit . Fun to fly . Don’t make it your first drone. Cinematic flights and will freestyle, however at a cost of fixing or replacing .
Thank you for the video. Burm ESC on the first fly is not very promising. Plus, having the o3 unit on the bottom Where you land Don't think it's a good idea.
I’m out of the loop. I have an Avata with original v1 goggles. Does the 03 air unit work with that setup ? It worked with the DJI FPV when I had it. The controller is not the black one it’s the gray one that looks like a PlayStation controller.
Hi Joshua, Greetings from India. Quick question, might sound silly. Can we use the DJI O3 Unit with DJI Controller and the DJI Fly app? Has anyone tried this combination? I want to skip the use of Goggles at some area of shoot.
The sponge under the O3 unit is glued to the outside of the plastic case. When attached to the inside, the O3 unit rose upward, making it difficult to connect to the USB port. The assembly method was incorrect.
Its clear that this video was recorded a few weeks ago & just posted because he referenced how "someday the O3 & the goggles 3 will be compatible" but they released that update last week
Yes. It's my current drone. I fly on it since fall 2023. However got rx loss couple times when fly lower than ground. And most big issue the TH-cam. TH-cam codec kills quality of original.
@@jbaked2585 This model have o3 unit on board and I record 4k60fps on board. On my PC quality is very good. On TH-cam grass becomes very blurred. And as you see on this video as well.
I think this is an old video. Before the O3 update which already supports Goggle 3. Besides, at the moment the best little tinnywhoop is Betafpv Pavo20 or the new Pavo20 Pro.
Tiny Whoop??? IDK...that's a stretch @ 90g+ more like a Micro Lifter. Tiny Whoops are best Analog IMO. Durability seems the limiting factor over 75mm due to AUW.
I bought the quad and its main aio fc died after 2 weeks of flying, thw frame survived, fpv and osd works but i cant connect to betaflight anymore and it disconnects from my reciever in the air and does micro failsafes. Wainting for their reply.
Naked has its ups and downs. I didn't see much of a difference in flight time. If you need ground time or fly in +90F be careful it gets hot when the fans aren't going. It does really well when the props are on. It seemed to cause a lot of interference with my GPS and with my DJI controller reception (seemed to cause micro disconnects paired with the GPS/compass). That's controller micro disconnects causing RTH to kick in momentarily due to micro failsafe did it for me (experiences may differ). Replacing it with an original O3 corrected it. In daylight to preserve the skies and not bleach them out, set the shutter speed to 1/2000 120fps and don't use filters with the o3 unless you are looking for blur effect in your videos. You might have to set the iso at auto 1600 due to the high shutter speed letting in less light. Turn down noise like -1 and play with sharpness. With high shutter speeds, you lost the cinematic effect, but you make it up in clarity. The images are super crisp, and you retain all the colors, and you can just record in normal color mode. At night I just set it all on auto. It's horrible in low light.
HI Joshua. BetaFPV just release a new pavo20 pro with 2.2 props and bigger motor. Can you please do a comparison with the FlyLens85
I've been flying my O3 quad with v3 goggles no problems at all. Works great
Wait, i thought DJI made the Goggles 3 and the O3 air unit compatible just recently? Was this filmed before that?
@@VaporFox25 yup the latest update makes it compatible with O3 so probably recorded before the initial updage

I’m out of the loop. I have an Avata with original v1 goggles. Does the 03 air unit work with that setup ? It worked with the DJI FPV when I had it. The controller is not the black one it’s the gray one that looks like a PlayStation controller.
V1 only works with vista and the orig air unit, controller should work. Google "o3 air unit compatibility goggles" for the compatibility chart.
Hi Joshua, Greetings from India.
Quick question, might sound silly. Can we use the DJI O3 Unit with DJI Controller and the DJI Fly app? Has anyone tried this combination? I want to skip the use of Goggles at some area of shoot.
What are the extra stuff on your goggles?
The sponge under the O3 unit is glued to the outside of the plastic case. When attached to the inside, the O3 unit rose upward, making it difficult to connect to the USB port.
The assembly method was incorrect.
Hey Joshua, how you did to get O3 vtx power in your osd (1.0W value in top left corner)
That's expresslrs tx power not O3.
@@JoshuaBardwell Oohh ok, thank you 😊
The itsy is way better! I have crashed the crap out of mine with the naked O3 and no issues!
Its clear that this video was recorded a few weeks ago & just posted because he referenced how "someday the O3 & the goggles 3 will be compatible" but they released that update last week
What is the glare or flare in the corners of the flight footage? Is that something that is unavoidable on the decased cameras?
What is mounted on the front of his goggles ? I haven't seen any goggles 2 attachments
It's a head tracker that is stuck on with tape.,
16:50 i turtle mode in the grass ALL the time or even stuck in a tree without a prop spinning even a little bit and have never had an esc fry. Crazy
Looks good
Yes. It's my current drone. I fly on it since fall 2023. However got rx loss couple times when fly lower than ground. And most big issue the TH-cam. TH-cam codec kills quality of original.
Are you using the goggles v2? I have to convert the files from h.265 to h.264. Trying to record in 4k @ 120fps will make the video slow motion
@@jbaked2585 This model have o3 unit on board and I record 4k60fps on board. On my PC quality is very good. On TH-cam grass becomes very blurred. And as you see on this video as well.
Noob here... would it really have cost much more to do USB-C instead of micro?
I think this is an old video. Before the O3 update which already supports Goggle 3. Besides, at the moment the best little tinnywhoop is Betafpv Pavo20 or the new Pavo20 Pro.
What if you crash your quad. Does the air unit just burn out? What happens?
Tiny Whoop??? IDK...that's a stretch @ 90g+ more like a Micro Lifter. Tiny Whoops are best Analog IMO. Durability seems the limiting factor over 75mm due to AUW.
I bought the quad and its main aio fc died after 2 weeks of flying, thw frame survived, fpv and osd works but i cant connect to betaflight anymore and it disconnects from my reciever in the air and does micro failsafes. Wainting for their reply.
Update: I shipped the quad back to flywoo and they detected a defect and replaced the fc for free. Waiting for it to come back via mail.
Do any of these companies use Tesla's idea and utilize the O3's metal casing as part of the chassis?
It has a goooood price to
Already swapping my cinelog 20 over to save weight. Good for indoor/cinematic flying but wouldnt freestyle it.
Hey. Joasha you can reviev flywoo Lens Moonlight version 😊
I love whoops 👍
Me too
Same
Naked has its ups and downs.
Damn this looks good
