It's not VAR it's the people using it. Howard Webb should be sacked as he seems more focused on fame and TV appearances than improving refereeing standards.
The fact that if you at all question a refs decision you get fined and booked (And probably some sort of speaking to behind closed doors) is so disturbing and just wrong... having free speech and sharing an opinion especially when asked shouldnt be punished. It seems its even taboo for the media to at all disagree with a wrong decision they always try to be little it and make it seem like its nothing big... and with football tribalism it gets brushed under the carpet. It's honestly killing my love for it.
@0casey963 yeah but getting rid of it isn't the answer as players are going to be at a disadvantage in European and world competitions for club and country because they wnt be used to it.
@@johnpaulreed4862what are you talking about? Everyone has played without var for the vast majority of their lives. How football is supposed to be and always was.
It's not var it's the people are you real or do you just repeat the same nonsense people like gabby talk
For a start fouls, handballs serious play are all subjective so people will always have different opinions.
Just like after a match when you have 3 ex players talking about a penalty decision and they don't agree.
So like so many people you are massively wrong .
Do you sell VAR equipment!? You sound like a seller...
After watching VAR miss the call on the Anthony Gordon penalty ( and it was a penalty) this late in the season proves to me that VAR personnel are not getting any better and at this point I have zero faith in the individuals operating the VAR system.
Appointing Howard Webb was the worst decision
Keep VAR for offside only and change the VAR technology we have in the Premier League for Champion League VAR technology, which is miles better and more accurate.
Get rid of all the current VAR refs then.. it needs to be consistent
I’ll happily take the wrong decisions. Football hasn’t been the same since it was introduced.
Instead of VAR, maybe just try get some professional, competent referees……… just a thought for the mind!? 🤷♂️
That's to simple they can't do this it's to obvious
Keep VAR , just take it out of human hands, it can all be done with A.I.
Set up the parameters and let it roll , nobody can argue with it ,it would be totally unbiased .
Anything that it can't handle would refer to the ref
They shouldn't get rid of it, because it corrects 90-odd percent of wrong decisions, mainly offsides which can be very difficult to judge correctly with the naked eye. I think that over the course of a season you get as many VAR decisions go your way as those that don't
You will never get rid of VAR the technology is there just need to get it right.
Probably. It's a good sign that the teams have a say, though. After all, it's the clubs that pay for the effing thing.
As a West Ham fan, I can honestly say I feel for wolves massively.
Two penalties given against us this season - Anthony Gordon putting his foot in front of Kalvin Phillips to block him from clearing a ball in the penalty box and Newcastle rewarded a penalty for it resulting us losing the game that game 4-3 from leading 3-1.
Ollie McBurney elbows our keeper Areola in the face and wins a penalty for a foul on HIM - it should’ve been the other way round!
SCRAP IT
VAR surely has to result in more correct decisions, just need competent people running it.
Imagine the out cry if that Chelsea penalty had stood last night . They should keep var but say the var officials have 30 seconds and if they can't decide in that time it can't be clear and obvious so the original decision stands
If that was a penalty it wasn't the worst decision in the world, very soft yes, but he only got a toe on the ball, there would be no outcry years ago, if anything you'd say it was a bit of a clumsy challenge. I agree I wouldn't give a pen for that but it wasn't a shocker
This whole “why don’t we change it to make it better”. We’ve had it for 5 years and they’ve changed it every year to try and improve it and every time it gets even worse. Everyone is confused by the processes, the refs wrap themselves up in so much protocol they can’t see the wood for the trees and the fans in the stadium haven’t got a clue what’s going on. It’s killing football and it has to go
It’s is so simple. The Persons behind VAR is the issue. Get better
Scrap it, just keep goal line technology, (apologies to Sheff United at Villa the other year), that needs to stay.
Big problem with var is how long it can take, even for simple decisions.
No VAR, no chance of the big clubs bribing referee's. Look at Man Cities var record then compare in with Wolves and Notts Forest.
VAR should only be for the ref to have a second look and to make the final decision there should be no one in VAR speaking or making a decision.
Bring in the automated off side technology, scrap VAR!
They understand the game. They cover for their on field collagues. The more decisions they overturn, the worse the referees look.
Challenge concept is ridiculous!!! I they're going to keep VAR, change the process so that the onfield Ref can request viewing an incident if he's not sure.
If you get rid of VAR we will be back to talking about terrible ref./linesmen decisions.
Just get players and managers and fans around the table to discuss and recommend some changes to improve it.
We used to talk about refs far less without VAR. In fact we were far more sympathetic than now
"go back" 😂😂😂
Mate, it's 10 times worse now.
The problem with VAR is that the refs are too busy trying to protect each other rather then make the right decisions, suddenly the refs are being sent to the monitor to look, not sure if that was the case with Gordon pen
Absolute dirt that Var, game has never been the same, its becoming more and more unwatchable
I think VAR will ultimately be scrapped, there is too much hate for it. However the first bad decision that is made, the media and fans will be saying "VAR would have prevented that". Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
It spoils the enjoyment of watching a game of football. Get Rid
The ref was the one who made the errors against Wolves, so with no VAR the mistakes would have still been made, VAR has to drastically improve and the way forward will be AI making the decisions, but that will take a long time to build up the knowledge
I wouldnt get rid of it. Ill get the semi auto offside in and leave VAR for overturning incorrect red cards given (not giving red cards out).
Or if the ref isnt sure on a decision he can ask for a quick replay, no slow motion just view it from each angle and make a call.
Everything else the refs deal with, if he misses a foul or a red or odd handball its on him
It's also due to distrust of the premier league over PSR and fairness. Different treatment of teams.
VAR must stay but it must be adapted. VAR came about because broadcast videos are now so clear with such fantastic resolution that anyone watching the broadcasts can analyse to the endth degree and is able to see quite clearly when a decision is wrong or not, if VAR is removed then the same issues will still be there and people will just carry on analysing. There are a few things that could happen to change VAR for the better in my humble opinion, 1: any VAR case should be considered without any obligation to the original decision and should be considered via a full and frank discussion between the on field referee and the VAR officials, 2: VAR for offside should not happen unless the incident happened in the last quarter of the pitch, offside calls up to that point should be down to the on field officials only and 3: place a time limit on VAR decisions such that if a decision on any particular incident is not reached at say 20 seconds then the original situation stands. Regarding my first point, we too often see the case where a decision is clearly wrong but is not considered wrong enough to change the original decision, that is ridiculous. #2 and 3 we need to speed up the decision process and remove the forensic analysis from situations that could easily stay with the referees whistle, post analysis may show some errors in these decisions but we should accept that this is a game that needs momentum. VAR must stay but must evolve.
I hope it's scrapped personally, slows the game down, get more decisions wrong then right, and its all thats talked about after a game
If they get rid of var the commentators will then become the var on tv
I normally slate gabby but hes one million percent spot on here
There's an empirical ex ante review of decisions under VAR vs no VAR. 96 vs 80 something. Going back because the implementation was a disaster and distrust of the premier league integrity would cause more fan disquiet. You don't need to reinvent the wheel. Look at rugby, transparency info provision by open comms between ref and the video official. Then automate instant offside via AI, no more waiting. Look at tennis, instant line calls are a reality. Goal line and offside retained but automatic and instant. Penalties reviewed but infield call takes precedence. Hand ball is a mess live or VAR.
I don’t agree much with GA but he’s right….the referees, generally, have not played the game, and don’t understand the bio dynamics of playing
Neither have I but I can tell when the refs make mistakes. Adding ex players would create more bias. Gabby hasn't a scooby 😂
VAR has ruined the joy of celebrating a goal, get it gone
For offenses referees can't make cause and effect assessments and the rules themselves is uninsightful theory causing poor application in practice PERIOD
Having watched Villa in Europe this year. Refs in Europe are simply NOT better. That Slovakian ref in the Lille Vs Villa game was abysmal. As was the ref in many of the European games.
Theres still var in Europe so why is the prem gonna get rid confusing then ,sort the reffs out
BUNCH OF TARTS 😂😂 NAILED IT !!!!!
What we need is 3D var as usee in champions league and World cup
Why doesn't ref just go to monitor if he's doughtfull on his decisions
Simple solution for var. Remove any subjective decision. Allow ea h team to only have 3 instances var can be used problem solved.
One thing for sure wolves won't get a decision in their favour next year. 🐺🏴
I understand the refereeing has been inconsistent and bad this season in particular, but the idea itself isn't the issue in my opinion, because having a video proof actually helps, the problem is the PERSON making the decisions, for some reason.
Its corruption, gordon last night was clearly a pen
Come Gabby, Old Tom in my local could do VAR and make the right decision. Don't make this another football gravy train.
Gabby enjoying his food 😋
Keep VAR for offsides all the time and give each team a challenge per game. If they win the challenge they keep the challenge. If they don't lose their challenge they don't have another one throughout the game. Simple as
Just get it gone already 😅
Alan Brazil got it spot on a lot of players are tarts they should go and play basketball instead of football
Everyone knows Var in concept should make the game fair for all. However the amount of wrong decisions which have no accountability or compensation for clubs makes a mockery of Var.
Var seems to be used by officials to have more control over the outcome of games.
Wolves have had apologies for really poor decisions, the officials say sorry then say they will change things for future games & they do ... Thanks Wolves for helping us make Var better however no compensation will be given.
Compensate clubs for the wrong decisions & Var will definitely get used the way it is supposed to be used !
If you get rid of VAR Rice would be able to kick Ben Davies in the nuts right in front of Mike Oliver our "best referee" and get away with no penalty being given. That's just 1 horrible call they've overturned. The problem is the incompetent/corrupt officials. Imagine leaving it all in 1 referees hands
Does VAR affect the automated offsides? No, right? because if it doesnt then IDC
Keep VAR. Get rid of the useless users
Its not VAR that needs changing its the idiots abusing it agreeing with their mate on the pitch ... Imagine how many off sides are going to be missed??!! Big clubs will get all the decisions their way again, back to the bad old days!
Man u will win the league every year!
Why do man united players have zero humility, the gross arrogance of the goal scorer was pityful
What are you talking about?
Bin VAR Save Football
💯 kick it out
VAR is fine, it’s the jeb ends using it
Ex-players don't even know the rules !!!!
My appointment is var should stay as var was brought in cause pundits and players and managers were complaining about decisions that's why it was brought and pundits still moan about it
Shebahn not only knows her footie she also gorgeous, the perfect woman. just saying. 😁
Get rid and leave it to human error of the referee. There will be human error either way. I can forgive the ref for getting it wrong i cant forgive someone who gets to look at it 10 times and still get it wrong. I was at villa the other day for the liverpool game and it was awful sitting waiting. Ruined the game and celebrations. By the time var was done with it the momentum went out of the game. Goal line only and get the flow back
Ex-players shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near VAR, if they could be this biased as pundits e.g Agbonlahor, Neville and Carragher… rather those that have no affiliation to referees or ex-players and the decision should be advisory not mandatory. Give the referees power to either take such decisions or not
Every official in this league is just dodgy, all of them are just clueless, sometimes not even a point of a linesman
Ex players will hav a bias
Get ex players like Neville and Cara
How about holding referee's accountable? If they do a good job pay them the same as a player, if they mess up sack them. With VAR there is no excuse. Like CCTV if caught doing a robbery you go to jail.
Players do a bad job, they don't get sacked.
@@danielhornby5581 in some cases they kinda do... look at Karius, he gets elbowed in the head by Ramos off the ball, which is later confirmed he suffered an concussion but he wanted to play on because it was a champions league final. VAR sees it but doesn't do anything about, (Doesn't want to send off Madrids Capitan and deside the tie in the first final with VAR) 5 minutes later Karius basically throws one in his own net... his Career is finished because he wasn't properly protected by VAR.
VAR not a problem, the problem is the referee in England. Italy show the world what is effective VAR and standard of refereeing.
It's not VAR , it isnthe PGMOL people who are poor at their jobs.
Keep var , improve refreeing and var users easy
It's not var it's the people are you real or do you just repeat the same nonsense people like gabby talk
For a start fouls, handballs serious play are all subjective so people will always have different opinions.
Just like after a match when you have 3 ex players talking about a penalty decision and they don't agree.
So like so many people you are massively wrong
You really shouldn't comment
Tarts hahaha
Evan ex players will get things wrong simply because of there bias!! But this is what is needed a seperate group of people for Var than it is for Refs because at the moment 1 week the refs on the pitch next week hes in the Var room and they wonder why there so many mistakes!?
did gabby agbonlahor just say he thinks that more than 14 clubs will vote to get rid of var is he feeling ok 🤣 there is no chance that over 14 will vote to get rid of it they will not even get close to 14 clubs in favour imo I would be surprised if more than 25 percent of clubs voted in favour of scrapping it🤔its naive from gabby to think that var is going to binned just because wolves have complained about it then it means they are getting rid of var now then I dont think so really its a non story🤣
VAR is bad refs making terrible decisions and takes too long.
The prem can overturn the vote
END THE FAILED EXPERIMENT. WE ALREADY KNOW THAT POWER CORRUPTS.
All good saying ex players but most players have very biased opinions on certain teams Like flabby gabbys hatred of man United
Getting international refs, only makes things worse. Giving these average people more power. Treating them like superstars, jetting them around Europe. It’s laughable.
Reduce the refs influence. Use the technology to its full potential, get ex players to make the big calls.
It simply the EPL should have follow Uefa VAR protocol if anything goes wrong blame Europe but the English dont like follow foreign recommendations decided to set up their own VAR its been awful to watch 😂😂😂😂😂😎👊🏽
What world are people living in better training and ex players knowledge and intelligence is very low.
For a start fouls, handballs serious play are all subjective so people will always have different opinions.
Just like after a match when you have 3 ex players talking about a penalty decision and they don't agree.
People saying about training and ex players you really havnt given it proper thought if you have given if any thought.
Been saying it since var was announced it should only be uesd for factual things not subjective
Refs have ruined VAR. Simple as. If these refs are going to run VAR, get rid of it.
It will be a big mistake getting rid of VAR it’s the poor officiating that’s the problem and it will get worse without it.
