A dive... that's the initial call that should've been made, Sterling dived. A red card, yes for the reckless nature of the tackle that followed, but the refused first decision based on the sequence of events should've been to call the dice from Sterling.
The goals given to Man City and the Manchester United Palace by the VAR were on the 6 yard line in an offside position. The original 2 footed tackle and the Romero kicking out was also missed
As a Spurs i am absolutely disgusted by Romero. Another thing. Would Romero be so reckless for Argentina in the world cup? To do this only 30% of the way through a game when Spurs are winning comfortably as well. To then also be suspended for 3 matches. Replace Romero Ange. I always frowned when he made him an assistant captain.
Finally, a Spurs fan willing to say it. I'm a Chelsea fan and I was hoping to see a comment like this. Romero is lucky Enzo is such a forgiving guy. How Romero wasn't sent off before this one though is bizarre.
The problem with VAR is the cameras are not in the right position so it is really hard to measure so maybe more cameras maybe one on the line from thw corner flag to the goal
They should announce stuff like this to the entire stadium and the broadcast so ppl will stop complaining about it being unfair. And even if it was an unfair call ppl will know exactly where the refs gone wrong and can actually complain about the right thing
What happened to getting to the ball first? He clearly got the ball. These things happen in seconds. How on earth is he going to control his follow through? They are ruining football by going too soft. The fact is that if he does not make the 50 50 challenge he doesn't get the ball and is not able to clear.
@rageeth, actually I've seen multiple different players manage this kind of tackle WITHOUT the follow through. So clearly some players have learnt the art of a hard tackle without being a dirty player. Unfortunately for Spurs, Romero isn't one of them. Shocking tackle. I bet if it was one of your players you'd be fuming if he didn't get punished for endangering the welfare of a fellow pro.
Exactly, football has gone soft. It's just stupid, it's a CONTACT SPORT he needs to be laser focused on getting that ball and stopping a potential goal. He's not going to kill someone, not going to do serious damage. Never a foul.... It's a joke. I remember refs saying "welcome to the Premier League" and how we weren't like Europe well we are now!
@@PaulKTomo I guess if this was one of your players you'd think different. I'm also curious as to how it won't cause serious damage if it hits? I seem to recall Roy Keane ending Haalands career with a bad tackle, and there's more examples. @@simonsmith1974 Roy Keane's was completely different though, high no where near the ball and deliberate, he had one focus and that was to injure Haaland and he did. VVD got taken out by Pickford I do not complain, it was reckless don't get me wrong, but it's football. It was brutal for us, but it is what it is.
I remember back when getting to the ball first _was_ the be all and end all when it came to challenges like this. They used to let some absolutely shocking tackles get by.
One of the most shocking decisions of the season so far.. then Arsenal get a penalty for a handball against him that shouldn’t be a penalty.. too many times things have went against United that have went for other clubs, it’s been absolutely ridiculous to watch.
The only issue i have here is why VAR needs two people for the process. We can hear one ref asking for the other to present certain frames. Why can't one ref not just get the frames himself.
im new to following football, but i just don't understand the foul on romero, everyone saying he's a dirty player so he deserved getting sent off which i understand i guess, dont see how it applys though. but what does everyone want him to do in that situation? somehow clear the ball and defy physics by stopping his foot before it follows through or alternatively not do his job as a defender and just let the attacker have a shot........ like enzo didn't even make an attempt, he ran up to the ball and just stood still waiting for contact
If Romero were taking a shot and his follow through landed his foot on a defender's leg like that, there's no way refs give an attacker a red card for that contact. Romero was playing a ball in his possession, Enzo made no attempt to play the ball or avoid contact with the progressing player. Take this a step further and players will be running into the studs of someone who just kicked to get the kicker sent off. Picture this, Salah shoots on goal, scores, but Romero lunges in so Salah's studs land on Romero's shin on the follow-through... you want to red card Salah for that?

Well… you determine that it “is the defender shoulder”… why would you decide that? The issue with the whole camera angle is that it cannot determine which body part is the furthest outward. “Are you happy with that blue line there”, feelings can rally alter our perception of reality.
This all kinds of wrong, football was never supposed to be refereed like this; offside because why? his backside is 2 inches offside? Throughout the history of football that would be considered level and the goal given. The penalty? Players' have to commit to a challenge, once the ball is cleared at that pace he cannot then do anything else but catch Enzo who is his international team-mate so no intent there. These people are ruining the game.
“Just playing the ball in itself does not allow you to follow through in this way” Terrible call & worse explanation. Enzo endangers himself by simply standing in the follow-through zone of the kick. Happens nearly every time there is a successful slide tackle. Player gets ball first, follows through to take out the player. So if this is how they are calling fouls & dishing out reds then it should be the same for nearly every slide tackle, which obviously is not how football is (or should be) played.

A red card, yes for the reckless nature of the tackle that followed, but the refused first decision based on the sequence of events should've been to call the dice from Sterling.
*dive
Looks more like Sterling slipped to me. Romero is a reckless dirty player, always with tackles like this at least once a game from what I've seen
Would love to see clips like this of la liga matches, sometimes it looks like there is no one in the VAR room.
There MUST be a better way to check offside than the cross hairs. Humanity has solved far more bigger problems. “
They need to ply this for tv audiences and for ppl in stadium
Never a red card, where was he meant to put his foot after he won the ball?
The goals given to Man City and the Manchester United Palace by the VAR were on the 6 yard line in an offside position. The original 2 footed tackle and the Romero kicking out was also missed
This offside call is insane
Italy has it automatic and in 3d.
It’s their system that was used at the World Cup
I don’t get it why the premiere league doesn’t have the same system
Great content, more of this var in depth checks please
I bet if the giving the option, Spurs would have preferred the Caicedo goal than the red card and a penalty against them
The foul by Romero comes first before the Caicedo goal so either way, he was gonna get sent off.
Shoulda check the penalty incident first? First play to avoid the long wait
The problem with VAR is the cameras are not in the right position so it is really hard to measure so maybe more cameras maybe one on the line from thw corner flag to the goal
How can anyone say this is not killing football. Sounds more like a medical surgery than a sport...
1. Before fixtures, teams should have the opportunity to decide whether they want VAR to be used for the game.
Thanks for Liverpool 's incident. The process and communication of VAR get more attention.
Fascinating content.
Finnaly very good calls, that is a leg breaker....
They should announce stuff like this to the entire stadium and the broadcast so ppl will stop complaining about it being unfair. And even if it was an unfair call ppl will know exactly where the refs gone wrong and can actually complain about the right thing
the var spot on with the handling of this decision
What happened to getting to the ball first? He clearly got the ball.
These things happen in seconds. How on earth is he going to control his follow through?
They are ruining football by going too soft.
The fact is that if he does not make the 50 50 challenge he doesn't get the ball and is not able to clear.
Because you can't sacrifice the rivalr player's health to win a challenge, makes no sense at all lmao
The leg of a person is a remarkably fragile thing, easily broken and very hard to deal with once broken. Romero is a dirty player. Has been for some time.
@@simonsmith1974 Roy Keane's was completely different though, high no where near the ball and deliberate, he had one focus and that was to injure Haaland and he did. Totally wrong and deserved what he got. Football is meant to be physical, go back 20, even 10 years and no one would be complaining at this.
Neuer vs Higuain comes to mind
& those were the best days
@@andrefoston8905 Unless ur are on the receiving end of one of those tackles!!!
Quite the happy people
Romero escaped with a penalty not awarded for his handball against man utd. Justice is done.
One of the most shocking decisions of the season so far.. then Arsenal get a penalty for a handball against him that shouldn’t be a penalty.. too many times things have went against United that have went for other clubs, it’s been absolutely ridiculous to watch.
this is aweome
Yeah this is such a dumb take, maybe you need to watch more football before making ridiculous statements like this.. is was one of the most blatant red cards you’ll ever see
@@Snotzalotz what is Romero meant to do there? It’s called no nonsense CB clear the ball???
@@Snotzalotzso blatant that literally noone seen the faul before 5 replays, if you touch the ball before a tackle it cant be red, obv romero makes terrible faul but it cant be red
I think personally the question here should be why wasnt romero sent off earlier in the game same with the other spurs player udoggie aswell 🤣 I am getting a bit tired of listening to howard webb wax lyrical about the officials when they do make the correct call 🤣 ok yes this was the correct call but it took long enough to get there aswell there was a lot going on in this match but they didnt get all the decisions correct by any stretch did they really 🤣
that offside tho..jackson already jump and open his leg
Romero challenged him first before the offside
@@andriyzulqhidir4048 Does not matter since referee can give advantage to the attacking team. They can always revisit a red card incident after that.
As a gooner this is so frustrating to hear. How many times have we heard excuses of "momentum" and "follow through" being given for these type of reckless challenges?
When are we having this in Spain?
5:13 Son's reaction XD
the referees are so relaxed covering the var that they no longer notice obvious fouls
show us the ones they cocked up, there's loads of those
Sterling also deserve a yellow card for the dive😂😎🤣
Amazing VAR this one👍🏼
wow a lots of work here
PGMOL want some good publicity after series of incredibility loss, and Webb got it fairly by kick their supportive, humanistic Ange on the ball. A fair game.
spot on
In other sports, the voices of VAR and On field ref are played over speakers to the crowd, why not in football so we all can hear the reasonings?
They need to take tips from the way Rugby does it, you hear everything the referee says on the field for one, so you understand the decision making during the game and the way they handled the video assistance during the recent World Cup was absolutely fantastic.
@@Snotzalotz which makes one think the FA retain control of decisions so they may influence them? Time they came clean and also used Rugby style clock so when the 90 mins are up the game stops.
how do stop the follow through Mr Webb?
I love the transparency, I'd like for refs in La Liga to also publish their VAR process but alas they refuse to. I wonder why.
It's so interesting and important to have the all process of the VAR. The VAR did a great job. The ref could explain it better :/
They need to play this in real time for VAR. Rugby plays the refs mic why can't the PL do the same. We knee transparency in the game. Let the pundits talk about the decision afterwards.
Yellow not a red, he won the ball but followed through unintentionally
Ridiculous!!! It shouldn’t be that fine!!! It is taking the joy out of the game
These refs sound sound corrupt 😅
Honestly this was good use of var
“Just playing the ball in itself does not allow you to follow through in this way”
Terrible call & worse explanation.
