    I'll take the Omega one algae wafers and put those in a coffee grinder and grind them down to just a super fine powder and then I sprinkle that into the tank. That has really helped my babies and tank flourish while being able to use food I already had. It's a method I saw on Mark's shrimp tanks. Beautiful shrimp and tank.

    My local stores have very limited options for shrimp food (I like to support local stores over on-line when I can), so for feeding my baby shrimp I've taking to grinding up some of the Fluval Bug Bites shrimp formula into a coarse powder to put in the tank. And I have algae wafers that I cut in multiple small pieces, so the adults have less to fight over, and which also leaves an amount of dust and very tiny bits besides that I sweep up and toss into the tank in hopes it serves the baby shrimp well. And the occasional dash of other food sources ground up into coarse powders (the last of my betta fish died recently, and I have plenty of betta foods still around, so tiny bits of that gets ground up and goes in every other day or so). Combine that with whatever naturally occurring food is in the tank from the live plants, and, well, I still don't have a very high baby survival rate, but I suspect access to food is not the limiting factor.
    Anyways, grinding up bigger foods into a powder is a useful tip for all kinds of purposes. I had a betta early this year who injured his mouth (among other things) and couldn't eat normally, but when I powdered his food to spread on the surface of the water, he would skim through it and seemed to get enough in that way.

    I usually just throw in some pellets on their feeding dish and the adults and baby shrimp all feed fine the pellets break down pretty easy. I’ve been doing this and I haven’t seen planaria ever since.

    The snails in my tanks showed up probably from a hitch hiker on a plant…and I have so many now that they swarm all over the shrimp food and even the adult shrimp can’t get any! I’d been led to believe they would self-regulate so there would never be too many, but I don’t see it happening.

    I cant find the Snowflake shrimp food. Nordic Pure right? I was thinking of getting the Nutridust, but the Snowflake food is harder to find. Still some expensive stuff! Ive already spent a fortune on my shrimp including Bactor AE and Shrimp Dinner (which the shrimp dont seem to care for). But my shrimp love cheap wardly shrimp pellets I give my mystery snails. Sure doesnt feel healthy for RCS tho. The shrimp also love crab cuisine. I do worry about these products affecting my water quality. Oh! And I have tons of tubifex? Worms and they are great cleaners as well. Not sure where I got them.

    I m here hoping someone can tell me if my kuhli loaches or even spotted hillstream loach could be killing any. I saw my first babies ever and they are barely bigger than a common grain of sand. So like a kuhli loach is like a big ass dragon and the spotted hillstream loach could prob kill em just by accidentely smacking them while going around doing the butterfly. I can't make sense of either of them not killing my baby shrimp lol. Also instead of snails in my main tank like in this video, I went with the route of rotifers and moina which looks kinda magical when the lights turn on lol 🤣👍

    nice video. always appreciate the info. i wonder if you could help me figure out why my baby shrimp are dying off. i have a 5 month old, 3 gallon nano low-tech shrimp-only tank, set up with some small drift wood & Japanese stones (sorry forgot the name), lots of plants, on a 1/2" bed of aquareon substrate and sand. i started the tank with guppies, then 2 month in, switched to all cherry shrimp. some of the first badge of cherries came home already berried; so slowly a second generation of cherries began to appear. i now have about 10 adult and 20 teenage cherries thriving. last month i introduced some berried blue bolt and berried orange females; i immediately started to see some babies swimming around, however they disappeared after a few days. eventually all the mamas became un-berried; but no babies in sight. the same thing happened last week after i put in some berried blue-blots and rilis; i started to see some babies initially, now they're all gone. there're no predators in the tank. in the past some baby shrimp would travel to the back compartment of the tank where the filter is, though not this time. i'm increasing feeding Bacter AE from 1 to 3 times a day, while adults are being fed Shrimp Dinner and Mineral Junkie once a day. here's the water parameters: ph 7.1, kh 4, gh 12, ammonia/nitrite,nitrate 0, tds 260, temp 72-75. sorry for the long message, any

    • @SooShrimpBreeders
      @SooShrimpBreeders  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's one of those things that sounds like a water issue. The caridina will like the 6.5ish ph....anything higher will cause them to unberry and have a hard time.

    • @yogawithdavidcho7930
      @yogawithdavidcho7930 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SooShrimpBreeders appreciate tge reply. Sorry i made a mistake saying blue bolts in my posting, i meant blue dream; so i actually have all neo-caridinas in my tank. I heard anywhere from 6.8-7.5 for ideal breeding ph. What’s your recommendation? And is that the most important parameter to focus on? Gh? Tds? I also heard to not chase numbers, so I’m pretty confused as a starting hobbyist. Thnx

      Nazaruddin Othman there are Caridina and Neo Caradina shrimp.
      They will not interbreed so you can mix those tanks without worry about your colors changing over generations
      So his Red Crystals will not breed with his Bloody Marys. But his Blue Rili and his Cherrys will interbreed resulting in blue and red offspring that have coloration that will not be as solid/bright then if he let them breed constantly they will get progressively browner.
      They will not result in blue + red = purple shrimp
