  • Most guides will tell you to take your food out for your shrimp after one hour. Not all foods are alike and some don't ever have to be removed! Check out my instagram for photos of my shrimp.

    Not sure which video you mentioned your nettle seeds being dead. In case you didn't know, nettle is a wildflower whose seeds require cold stratification to germinate. Usually 60-90 days winter temps and moisture. I usually put them in pots outside covered in burlap for the winter months. In spring when they sprout, you can thin and grow them out. You can also simulate this in your refrigerator (not freezer) in a bag of moist vermiculite for 90 days.
    Anyway, just stumbled on you as I am a master gardener but a totally newbie shrimp keeper. Great videos.

    Hey thank you for this! Food has been a constant issue for me. I make my own but I only make two kinds and then I gather leaves from local safe trees and add them to the tanks. Do you use Bacter AE? I am thinking it is more trouble than it is worth? Recently I noticed that same white thread Algea growing in an empty tank that I use for quarantine of fish at times, it is cool you mentioned it.
    This was a very helpful video, thank you!

      Bacter AE is a great food for babies. Just don’t overdose. A tiny pinch amount is enough. The recommended dosing is way too much

      I do not use Bacter AE. I use my foods ground up into a powder to babies. Snowflake is my key food and i use it the most.

    Are you placing newborn shrimp in brackish water? I read somewhere that is done with babies. Love the shrimp vids

      I think that's only for amano shrimp. I don't currently keep or breed those shrimp.

    U have no snails in ur tanks? To leave food so long in my neocaridina tank I think that will be a problem because of my 3 type of snails...
    Already have to much substrate snails even if i try to feed a little and once a day.

    • @SooShrimpBreeders
      @SooShrimpBreeders  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have snails in my tanks. The ramshorns do way better in my caridina and often die off due to poor shells but they breed enough for them to be in the tanks. Other tanks i have MTS....tons of them.

  • @spencer_wheeler

    You mentioned shrimp graze on the snowflake. Do you leave it in the tank until it is completely gone like leaf matter or do you take it out after a few days?

    • @SooShrimpBreeders
      @SooShrimpBreeders  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never take it out unless it gets sucked out during a water change. It will get into the substrate. I used to keep it in a dish but i noticed the babies didn't get access to it. Now i just have to gravel vac from time to time

    Apologies Nathan, I'm sure this is another really helpful video and I would have loved to listen to all the information you were passing on but I only managed a few minutes. That drumming really hurts my ears. For me, it's louder than the important bit, your voice.

    • @SooShrimpBreeders
      @SooShrimpBreeders  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm working on audio. I knew this video was a little loud. I get a few new pieces of equipment that should help with sound.

      Thank you for the reply Nathan. I'll keep watching and listening as long as my ears hold out.
