    Don't listen to the trolls. Good work on the videos. I don't even own a seadoo. Just been thinking of buying one with a blown engine to rebuild.
    I still remember my father who was a Skidoo dealer in Quebec Canada bringing home the first ever seadoo that he was going to start selling. The first ones were 250cc air-cooled. It seized very quickly on a hot day. So they took them back and replaced all the engines with liquid cooled engines. Worked much better.
    Of course nothing like today's Seadoos but they were still fun. Lots of home movies of people coming to the lake to test drive them. Very funny ones when people in suits drove them and got their shoes wet.
    So thanks again for doing all these videos. Ignore the arm chair no it all people. You are doing great work and we really appreciate it. Thank you!

    Working on rebuilding my first seadoo. Great video with just the right amount of detail.
    In my case just freezing the wear ring did not do the trick. I also had to heat the pump assembly in the oven to about 200, and use a deadblow to get the new wear ring in. But in it is!
    Mechanical newbies, there is a seal on the pump made of nitrile which is rated typically to 250-275f. 200 isn't dangerous, but helps install a lot!

    • @davelowets
      @davelowets 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does help greatly to heat the pump in the oven. ALSO, be prepared, have ALL your tools and accessories to do the job ready, and immediately GET to it once you remove the ring and pump housing from the freezer and oven. The parts lose their temperature advantage VERY FAST once they touch each other, and WILL get very hard to put together if you fart around for very long trying to get it in. Get your stuff together and whack that sucker in QUICK.

    Would you recommend a Solas 13/21, 14/22, or 15/23 prop? Only engine mods would be flame arrestors and wanting more holshot as well as top end.

      You have to pick one or the other. You cant have an impeller that gives you a hard holeshot and top end. If you want a an all around good impeller get a Solas XO and have leading edge impellers do a pitch on it for you. Contact Dave and tell him Jarman sent you. He will take care of you

    I installed mine and luckily did a leak test and found that it leaked around where the oring is, I guess not enough 518 or something, but point is it's a good idea to do a leak test with a pressure tester to ensure no leak. I re-did mine and got 10psi and after 10 mins went down to 9psi which is pretty good (supposed to hold 10psi for 10 mins, but my fitting was likely the culprit of the small leak, which I confirmed by spraying windex to see where bubbles are)

    I wonder if removing the impeller then putting the pump in the freezer will make a difference? Like maybe the impeller was keeping the wear ring from shrinking?
    Also isnt the cone only supposed to hold like 4 oz tho? Will over filling it cause damage?
    Good video man. Keep them coming.

    • @TodayWeWrench
      @TodayWeWrench  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're pulling the impeller then theirs no point in trying to remove the wear ring the cheater way. It's the wrong approach to begin with it was just an experiment because someone would comment "Bro I have seen online you can freeze it" so I did it.
      As far as the oil goes, you can't over fill a pump. I have more than 100 jet pump changes in the history of me wrenching on skis and I do it the same way every time. Its like a differential, I don't want air in my pump bearings while rotating. Once warm that oil isn't as thick as it was going in so pitch changes can starve the bearings for a few seconds when riding wheelies or messing around. Better safe than sorry.

    97 Spx. New impeller/ WR/engine/ Carbs/ coil/ ect.
    It's acting funny. If I slowly give it throttle, it'll pick up & go good. If I just hammer the throttle it kinda stalls & stays around 20% power. Secondly at top end the engine sounds like it's skipping or hitting a Rev limiter. With so much new, im scratching my head.
    It does have a $269 aftermarket ecu (from previous owner) the same issues happened prior to all my upgrades.
    Yesterday breaking in the engine the same issues arose, but finally the double beep stopped and I got a long beeeeeeep for 10 seconds. Please someone help me. Pulling out my hair now!

    • @TodayWeWrench

      On many pumps (including those on 951 enignes) there are screws which seat / set the wear ring. There are actually two which keep it from spinning/sliding. I didn't see him discuss or address that at all. I would think you would unscrew those screws before you insert into a freezer.

    Be careful what types of plastic you are using acetone with, it eats and melts plastic so best to use isopropyl or something less aggressive with plastics

  • @joycenord8769
    @joycenord8769 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You are way rough with parts throwing and slamming them around. The freezer trick is meant to do once the impeller is off. In your videos, you come off as very sarcastic and arrogant, but I see you repeatedly doing stuff you're not supposed to do. You must own a PWC parts resale shop or something. You're demonstrating using acetone on plastic and rubber! Acetone damages plastic - it softens, smears it and dissolves plastic. Of course it's cleared out. Some simple green would work better and not eat the stuff. Shortcuts can become expensive.

    • @TodayWeWrench
      @TodayWeWrench  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You're incorrect, the "freezer trick" was talked about on many FB pages while the impeller was still installed. We put that theory to rest so others don't waste their time, you obviously don't see the trash recommendations people post on social media. Washing out the inside of the nose cone with acetone will not soften or damage the plastic. Now if you got acetone on soft plastic such as a plexiglass I would say yes but the thermal plastic giving it a quick wipe and rinse? Wrong, You googled "does acetone affect plastic" and copy pasted it. Also not sure how we are "rough with parts" the fact that we took the bailer fitting off and dropped it on a cart with a rubber 1/2 pad? It's very easy for someone to be critical of content when they don't have the guts to make it themselves. No one has a gun to your head forcing you to watch our content. If you can do it better make some videos buddy boy.
