@jeanclaude7018 nissans are notorious for rust lol. I had a rogue that would easily rust even inside in the driver foot well, under the seats, etc. And this was despite keeping it clean and away from water.
@@asadb1990 Here is more of the generalization that drives me nuts. It's like the popular lie that Nissans are notorious for "bad transmissions," which is ONLY restricted to the CVT. Ford does make good stuff from time to time. I owned a 2008 ford ranger single cab 7 foot bed 4 cylinder that I got for work. I ran that thing all the way up to 150k sold it to a kid that was running AC units in my job site and needed a truck for work. I wanted to upgrade in size and power. That kid is driving it 80 miles each way to work in a different town and it’s still going without a hiccup. I do miss it but we gotta move on sometimes. I got myself a used 2017 F150 with the 5.0 engine so far I’m happy.
Did it come with the Fender speakers? I just noticed that when Scotty opened the door, the speaker cover said Fender and my eyes widened and mouth dropped.
My dad had a 2003 Nissan Frontier XE 4x4 long bed with a 5-speed with a manual transfer case that he bought new and put 270k miles on before trading in on a new Tacoma in 2019. The truck went through two batteries, had the spark plugs and valve cover gaskets replaced and that was it. Still had the original clutch and which was tight and had plenty of life left in it.
Hey, don't get a taco. The new ones just had a recall because of the real-axel coming off. Plus, the front differential broke during easy offroading; also the Ranger can tow 1000 pounds more. Pair that with the dealer markups and it is not a good buy.
Gen 3 was the last great taco, they had all the bugs worked out early on.. I just got a 22 off road 4x4 TRD, 6 speed auto double cab, 27,000, for $36,000, I love it!
TBH Tundra with iforcemax is a beast for snowplowing. I tried it with my friend's Tundra last winter, blows f100 out of the water. The problem is I had yet to see Tundra iforcemax owner using it for its intended purposes, 99.9 percent buys it as a toys than workhorse!
I have a 2016 2.7 turbo f-150 with 130k and I’ve had zero problems so far, my brother had a 2012 3.5 turbo and got 320k before his transmission went out. I just want to throw that out there because good reports usually don’t get shared.
I wouldn't mind having an older Ford Ranger with the manual transmission. Those 2.3 4 cylinders could last a long time if you kept the oil changed in them. They can't carry or tow what a full size truck can but most people are going to be pulling a 40,000 pound RV trailer. If I had one of those I would be going for the F-450 with the turbo diesel.
Yeah those old small trucks were all pretty solid. Ford, Nissan, Toyota, even the Chevy's weren't horrible. They were reasonable price and good for what they were. If you wanted to tow or haul something big obviously they weren't built for that.
my trd off road at 70mph gets 20-21 mpg at 75 its closer 19 mpg I can get 23/24 if i drive 55mph but the speed limit is 65 or 70 in some places so 55 will get you run over by semi.
I have the v6 version and the back doors do open the handle is inside the door. All the tacos are Made in Mexico they don’t build any in Japan for America.
33K for a used 22 Taco with a 4 banger vs. 34.8 I paid for new Frontier with a V6 last August. I'd say I got the better deal. I guess the Toyota Tax applies to used vehicles as well.
Yeah no thank you, I would still keep my 2017 f150 EcoBoost, has almost 160,000 mi and hasn't given me a serious issue. I can pull more than a Tacoma, get better fuel economy than a Tacoma, more spacious. Much more comfortable to drive. The bed is bigger. In what ways is Tacoma better? Probably keeping its value
@@rstumbaugh43 yeah for sure Ford will not last 400,000 mi without some sort of major repair. But you drive a modern Tacoma then drive a modern F-150 and you tell me which one you prefer to drive. F150 is literally decades ahead of Tacoma in terms of everything else. Toyota sticks to ancient technologies, that's why they're reliable, they never innovate.
The TPMS system on the Ridgeline has to be kept operating or you can't turn off the traction control system, which you absolutely need to be able to do if you are going up a snowy/icy hill or if you get stuck. It's the worst thing about the "truck" I've experienced after owning one for about 7 years.
I’m impressed with that Nissan Frontier even though I’ve always been in love with Toyota Tacoma’s. I noticed that @12:04 when you opened the door, the speaker on the door said, “Fender”?! Did you get a chance to check out the sound system? Now I’m beginning to second guess if I should trade in my 2023 Altima for a Frontier instead of going with a 4 Runner 🤔 My issue is I already have a 2012 Honda Pilot with 96k on it and it’s technically not my vehicle, it belongs to my “dogs” 😂 None of them have been in the Altima because well ya know it’s newer blah blah blah but I need to make a final decision in October when my lease is up and just want to purchase a good truck like this Frontier, or get my dream vehicle, a 4 Runner. I don’t like the idea of having 2 SUV’s unless I get rid of my Pilot. I don’t know what to do anymore Scotty. I’m torn and to be honest, if I could afford it, I’d just get rid of my Pilot and Altima for a Nissan GTR! That would never happen because my dogs need their own vehicle 😂
The GTR is prob most car enthusiasts dream machine…. Hope to own one one day too… my advice would be for you to get the frontier, not only is it solid, not overpriced , v6 engine, and everything Scotty said but it is more cargo friendly than an SUV… I believe the value of these Frontiers will increase bc Toyota is making mistakes
I'm on my third Frontier. They are great trucks! My current one is a '21 Frontier SV 4WD and the only one I bought new off the lot for 36k. I considered the Pro4X but I didn't want the sunroof and extra electronic stuff (more stuff to break, expensive to fix, lol). I LOVE my SV and it gets great gas mileage (over 30 mpg three times, now! Just put a bed cover on it and keep your foot out of the accelerator...lol). As of today, it has 18, 347 miles on it and I haven't had a single issue with it. The new body style ('22) was available, but I went with the old body style '21 with the upgraded engine and 9 speed tranny because I figured if I ever need body parts, there will be plenty of them in the junk yards. Besides, 2020 and 2021 are the only two years that have the old body style with the new engine and 9-speed tranny. That makes them unique. Haha! Oh, btw...they drive like a car with the highway tires they come with. If you put some AT tires on them, they feel more like a truck (and corner even better, IMO).
5:50 Fact Check: As a man who has lived on Guam pretty much all his life (since 1990), I can tell you, we don't make car batteries here. We don't have the raw materials, we don't import said raw materials or components to make such batteries. We import over 90% of what we use in our day-to-day lives and export next to nothing. If you take another look at the battery in question, you might notice Guam is just one of 5 places that particular model of battery was distributed from, and it seems it was made by a company called "Clarios", a rather Mexican sounding company name that I have never heard of before. I recognize the name of the company that has the Guam distribution rights, Atkins Kroll, the dealership that carries Toyota. Note that there are 4 companies in locations noted to be distributors of that battery, the others are in Plano Texas, Honolulu Hawaii, San Juan Puerto Rico, Pago Pago and American Samoa.
Scotty, do you think a Toyota Diesel Dually Tundra would dominate the work truck market? They could source the diesel engine from either Isuzu, Cummins, or Caterpillar. I wish they would.
Hmm, my 2022 Tacoma SR isn't a four door but is an access cab so it does have rear opening doors, but no handles on the outside. I never saw one that is like a conventional two door with hinged seat backs.
LOL first guy lost his lunch! 33k for a smaller truck 4 banger?! Sheesh, just got a tundra for half that 100k miles w/ a v8. Building credit on a car payment what a terrible decision. Buy w/ cash or keep your 2011.
I agree V8 or nothing. You gotta get v8 5.2 or 6.2L Truck or get a damn muscle car. Gotta sound good, and feel good driving! Especially for the price of trucks these days.
The Ranger sales were down because they are built in the same factory as the Broncos, and Ford needed to focus on the broncos because they were behind, plus Ford was preparing to build the next generation Ranger and didn't want to flood the lots with the previous Gen.
Problems at 122k? Yikes. I own a 20 y/o Jaguar with almost 200k miles, still daily driven and is very dependable. They really, truly dont make them like they used to...
@@michaelcarson8375It got a service at the dealership at 125,000. I also took it in for the software update at about 140,000. Being a six speed it's been pretty good. I pull a 16' trailer with it pretty regular. I burn wood for heat,as does my dad. Haul a vehicle on the odd occasion also.
Full service at the dealership at 125,000 and a software update at about 140,000. My dad an I both burn wood for heat and I haul it on a 16 foot trailer. Plus I haul a car here and there. I treat it well, but it gets used.
To begin with, a guy was starting to "have problems" with his F150, and we don't know what those were. 122k is less than 10k miles per year, the avg is 16k miles per year, so technically that F150 is considered low mileage, not worn out. So instead of addressing the supposed issues which could very well be a cheap fix, he takes his bad credit and goes into debt on an even more expensive pickup that is far less capable than the one he got rid of. A trade-in of $11k is on the higher end of trade in value for a low-end 2011 F150, so the dealer apparently didn't seem to think the truck had as many problems as the owner did when they inspected and test drove it, otherwise he would have gotten much less. The best way to build your credit fast is to get a credit card, make small purchases, and pay it down each month while still leaving a small balance. Not go into long-term debt with a set payment each month. Hell, the guy could have gotten a credit card, used that to "repair" his F150, and then paid that off over time, improved his credit, and maintained positive equity in what I'm assuming was a paid off truck.
John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I’ll take my 2024 Tundra over these three. I’ve had Tacomas and the V8 Tundra (and the twin turbo runs circles around the V8). And it’s still built in Texas.
Hey my fellow truck buyers why are Chevy/GMC trucks transmission so squirrelly. Sometimes its smooth then sometimes it jumps into gear. Is this normal? Do other trucks do this? I hv 150k on a 08"Sierra. Besides that its perfect
I’m looking to buy my first used truck, rn I drive a civic. I go beach fishing a lot and will use it to tow a boat sometimes. I was looking at Tacomas and f150. Anyone got a suggestion?

We need a Scotty Kilmer in every state.
Love my 23 Pro4x Frontier
I prefer a 4 banger. 150ish HP isn't bad for a truck 4 banger. Good torque usually.
High torque V8 is best for snowplow and towing. Horsepower kind of unimportant. My uncle had a plow and hitch on his F100 with inline 6.
Glad to see you're still alive Scotty I was convinced you passed away
Ide say you are as usual, right on point Scotty, Toyota, is top dog..not sure about the 24’s…but right up to it, undisputed champs!
If you wanted to tow or haul something big obviously they weren't built for that.
got a 2004 and it won't die! 170000 mi and burns NO oil,
I’m digging the Nissan Frontier.
Got a 2024 Nissan Frontier Pro4X best decision I ever made
I've had 5 Nissan trucks now, still own one. Girlfriend just sold her POS 2018 Ram and got a 2024 Frontier.
I love the frontier
I wish I had the money for a Tacoma or a Frontier. Well entail then I'll keep chugging along with my 77 F150.
my trd off road at 70mph gets 20-21 mpg
at 75 its closer 19 mpg
I can get 23/24 if i drive 55mph but the speed limit is 65 or 70 in some places
so 55 will get you run over by semi.
I love that new Frontier . I’d buy one over a GM or Ford 😂
I have a 2023 Tacoma and I love it going to try to get 1,000,000 miles out of it
I have the v6 version and the back doors do open the handle is inside the door.
Mexico is the best!
Bought a 2023 Tacoma sport because I wanted the 6 foot pan. Great truck.
me too in lunar rock, awesome truck
Yeah no thank you, I would still keep my 2017 f150 EcoBoost, has almost 160,000 mi and hasn't given me a serious issue. I can pull more than a Tacoma, get better fuel economy than a Tacoma, more spacious. Much more comfortable to drive. The bed is bigger. In what ways is Tacoma better? Probably keeping its value
Tacoma’s are known for 3-400,000, they have that reputation. What is the ford known for, in durability/longevity?
@@rstumbaugh43 yeah for sure Ford will not last 400,000 mi without some sort of major repair. But you drive a modern Tacoma then drive a modern F-150 and you tell me which one you prefer to drive. F150 is literally decades ahead of Tacoma in terms of everything else. Toyota sticks to ancient technologies, that's why they're reliable, they never innovate.
I love this dude
Hi Scotty love your videos you make my day
The only thing that wait to be seen is the longevity of the MB design 9 speed transmission. I don't worry about VQ reliability at all.
The TPMS system on the Ridgeline has to be kept operating or you can't turn off the traction control system, which you absolutely need to be able to do if you are going up a snowy/icy hill or if you get stuck. It's the worst thing about the "truck" I've experienced after owning one for about 7 years.
Nissan frontier for the win 🥇 I love mine
Still chasing the Tacoma, though
@@mickeywhite7878 we get it you ride Toyota boringggg
Hey Scotty, I like your picks for this videos. Do you have any recommendations for larger trucks?
The 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigues have the Winchester headliner that does not collapse.
I’m impressed with that Nissan Frontier even though I’ve always been in love with Toyota Tacoma’s. I noticed that @12:04 when you opened the door, the speaker on the door said, “Fender”?! Did you get a chance to check out the sound system? Now I’m beginning to second guess if I should trade in my 2023 Altima for a Frontier instead of going with a 4 Runner 🤔
My issue is I already have a 2012 Honda Pilot with 96k on it and it’s technically not my vehicle, it belongs to my “dogs” 😂 None of them have been in the Altima because well ya know it’s newer blah blah blah but I need to make a final decision in October when my lease is up and just want to purchase a good truck like this Frontier, or get my dream vehicle, a 4 Runner.
Nice rigs.
I’m getting 12.5 L/100km in my 2019 hemi……I think that’s pretty good.
Lifters ticking yet?
When did a company start making batteries on the island of Guam?
Scotty, the 2022 and later tacomas have a diff recall right now. about 400,000 affected tacomas
When did Dennis Hopper start making youtube car videos?
LOL first guy lost his lunch! 33k for a smaller truck 4 banger?! Sheesh, just got a tundra for half that 100k miles w/ a v8. Building credit on a car payment what a terrible decision. Buy w/ cash or keep your 2011.
I agree V8 or nothing. You gotta get v8 5.2 or 6.2L Truck or get a damn muscle car. Gotta sound good, and feel good driving! Especially for the price of trucks these days.
I have a Nissan Titan Extended cab. 8 cylinder I love it. It is a 2009.
I saw a plow kit with hydraulic system that mounts on the front bumper of a daihatsu hijet kei truck being sold in Canada. That’s just crazy.
Well right on time
That battery is good Im from Guam!
😅
My ECOBOOST has 216,000 on it,and still runs like brand new.
@timothybyrom5560 What maintenance have you done to your transmission?
@@michaelcarson8375It got a service at the dealership at 125,000. I also took it in for the software update at about 140,000. Being a six speed it's been pretty good. I pull a 16' trailer with it pretty regular. I burn wood for heat,as does my dad. Haul a vehicle on the odd occasion also.
Full service at the dealership at 125,000 and a software update at about 140,000. My dad an I both burn wood for heat and I haul it on a 16 foot trailer. Plus I haul a car here and there. I treat it well, but it gets used.
What job do you have and how much money do you make to afford that Ecoboost F150?
@@CJColvin I doubt that is a relevant question, but a Mcd'S job will not get you a new truck in this economy.
12:53 says best mpg is 22.1. That means the owner hyperinflated the current mpg before dropping it off.
I,m buying a Tundra made before 2022.
Scotty, real information is always good so stay real we need more people like you in this world 🌎🌍 stay safe.
John 3:16
King James Version
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
We need a Scotty and Jay Leno show 😂
Who would’ve thought
I’ll take my 2024 Tundra over these three. I’ve had Tacomas and the V8 Tundra (and the twin turbo runs circles around the V8). And it’s still built in Texas.
Yeah but the V8 Tundra will outlast those twin turbo engines.
After my wreck I considered switching to grabbing a Frontier... but I just had to grab another Tacoma 😂
Bad credit, 33k mini truck. Dudes payments gotta be ridiculous..I've had bed credit years back and man, did they f u with outta kiss
Owner driver forgot to go in reverse from a parking spot. He was ok too, just embarrassed. Nissan has the GTR. Dreaming....
My brother has a new 2023 Nissan Frontier ProX.Has everything u need and then some.He loves it....
What about the electric Smart?
I wouldn’t touch Nissan with a ten foot pole.
Hey my fellow truck buyers why are Chevy/GMC trucks transmission so squirrelly. Sometimes its smooth then sometimes it jumps into gear. Is this normal? Do other trucks do this? I hv 150k on a 08"Sierra. Besides that its perfect
Change the transmission fluid. Half at a time
I got a 2006 f250 SD lariat extended cab with 8 foot bed and 5th wheel with 37k for 15,000.00 at the dealer.
I’m looking to buy my first used truck, rn I drive a civic. I go beach fishing a lot and will use it to tow a boat sometimes. I was looking at Tacomas and f150. Anyone got a suggestion?
Good video. Can I ask what kind of diagnostic scanner, (brand) you use? I am thinking of getting one for my vehicle. Thanks.
Gone are those days my friend 😢
