I worked at a lumber yard in high school. There was a small recreational lake near by so a significant amount of our business was in the construction/maintenance/removal of dock units. One of the biggest problems with buying a Wrangler today is you can't pick and choose what you want. Want the Color match fenders and hard top? Gotta get the Rubicon X with all the other bells and whistles. Want the steel bumpers? Gotta get the factory wench. Want to the factory installed 35s? Can't get it with the v6 manual. People don't want the basic Jeep- they want their Jeep. But to get the one or two options they really want, they have to get a bunch of other expensive ones they don't.

I’ve owned three wranglers in my life. What happened? They have always been bottom of the barrel quality, but it was the only vehicle where you could take the roof and doors off and have 4WD. They were relatively inexpensive too. Now? Somehow the quality is even worse, but they are expensive. If Ford could make their Bronco reliable Jeep would be over. As a french, I completely agree with the fact that french automakers clearly don't understand the American market. *Hello Wagoneer S* Very nice video ! (and a really good french accent too !)
Great video. Jeep has finally woken up with the Wrangler. Gave us the new Willys with the 4 10 Tru Lock Rubicon locking rear axle/Rubicon suspension and front fenders in an affordable package. They even have the X package with 35" tires/beadlocks and front locker available now on Willys which l didnt know about. There was a four door Willys X on dealers lot on sale for around $50k. Just scored a new 2 door Willys for $9,000 off MSRP. Seens like everyone loves jumping on them but they are still low price king. The dealer also.had numerous 2 door Sports on sale at $30k with manual transmissions
Jeep is the most common tow behind vehicle for Class A, Bus , etc type of motorhomes. Campgrounds that are very expensive will have a bunch of fully loaded Jeeps sitting next to a million dollar RV. The ability to flat tow as a Toad is a big selling feature. Quartzsite has about a million Jeeps in the BLM during the winter shows and offroad activities. People love to go offroad around their campsite with heated steering wheel and heated seats.
On the military "Jeeps" people often confuse the MB and GPW older jeep with the M38 late 1940s to early 1950s. Ford Canada did make some M38s for Canada and South Korea was still making and using their version of the M38 not that long ago. Tommy you missed the Jeep Commander when talking about different models, maybe that was on purpose? Many hate the Commander but it is a Jeep I can sit in without having to lean into the passenger seat. I like it, I do fix it more than I do my Yukon but it is nice to drive in winter. Like many chryslers there is to much junk in the way getting in and out, they put in big consoles and doors with a lot of plastic that just makes the seat area smaller and the door opening smaller.
I bought my Gladiator Sport brand new in in 2019. (auto trans, premium soft top, bed liner, cold weather package, 7" screen, max tow). I've seen base Gladiators without those options costing $10k more in 2025. Wonder why their sales are down...
I planned on leasing a first year gladiator. Manual soft top sport. That initial lease deal was amazing. I think they were 34k to start then. After 3 months into my 8 week wait they admitted they never ordered it and I could now order one and pay 2.5x as much. I will never buy from jeep/dodge again.

13:20. Regarding the issue of people not buying base models. My train of thought when I purchased our Ram 2500 Laramie and Grand Cherokee L Limited was that I could NOT justify spending $50,000+ and NOT getting leather seats, or heated seats, or ventilated seats, or a sliding rear window, or a quality stereo, or wheels that actually look good. The base trim models just are not worth the money. If I’m going to fork out that kind of money, I’d better have something to show for it. My fine line was $50,000. I’m sure that’s different for other people but I would imagine other people have the same line of thinking.
I bought a CJ7 new in 1976 and quickly learned that CJ stood for Cheap Junk. I had more problems with that CJ than any other vehicle I have owned. Tommy is wrong about the dealers. Many had put prices way above msrp. Sure now that people are not buying the are offering incentives but before they were price gouging. I think its bad that Tommy is trying to defend the dealers in this video.
The wild thing about the rebates offered to lower the prices on vehicles, is that the manufacturer cuts a check to the sealer for that rebate. As a buyer, you effectively sign over the rebate to the dealership which allows them to lower the price. That's why incentives change month to month. As buying trends change in certain regions, manufacturers shift rebates around to incentivize buyers to buy those products. Vehicle not selling well for a few months? They offer $3,500 in rebates to lower the price. In the late 2000's -early 2010's Wranglers famously only offered one rebate ($500 military discount) because they didn't need to offer anything for people to buy them. The most expensive Rubicon at the time was around $55,000 and a base 2 door soft top was still obtainable for under $30,000. That being said, if the manufacturer is incentivizing Wranglers, it means that they are aware they are not meeting projected sales and the manufacturer is aware of it. Common sense would dictate that if thats the case, they would be interested in finding out why and course correcting. Hopefully that's what happens moving forward. PSA: People, when you buy a Wrangler, youre buying an off-road capable vehicle. Its going to drive and handle as such. It won't have the same on road feel as the Q7 you are trying to trade in for it. (The people looking for fully optioned models are almost always wealthy folks trying to scratch an adventure itch after decades of driving a luxury SUV, but will never take it anywhere more rugged than their lake house in Tahoe or their condo at Vail ski resort.
3:31 WWII was NOT the last war that had a clear distinction between good and evil, oppressor and liberator. That war is going on right now. Screw the Pentastar, bring back the 4.0L 6 cylinder! We have variations on that design in our 05 LJ, our 83 CJ-8 and our 92 XJ. One of the best engine designs for Jeeps ever! With 7 main bearings, if you keep up on the maintenance and insure that your motor oil has enough ZDDP to keep the valve train happy, that old 6 will run forever (or close to it).
Quality control and warranty are the issues. I don’t want “all the bells” and whistles but I also don’t want to have to pay $100k+ for a V8 powered Wrangler. When you limit drive train options, limit lockers to only Rubicon (and only recently added rear lockers on other trims) this is what happens in the segment. I drove a 2015 JLU for 7 years and I can tell you my 2022 Bronco was an upgrade in almost every aspect. Jeep on the Wrangler needs to listen to all customers not just the die hard off road enthusiasts. If you use two door versus four door as an example, and I heard it a lot when I had mine, if the only “true” Wrangler is the two door, why did the four door outsell it? So maybe if the offered a bigger price difference in the two options perhaps that might help.
Very nice video, thanks. I'm planning to order the 2025 or 2026 2-doors 6-speed manual transmission Wrangler Sport S. And if I can get the manual crank windows I would get them.

I miss the idea of having a Jeep. Loved going offroad with my JK, but it was having compression issues at just 30k miles and needed a major overhaul. I am 0 for 2 with the Jeep brand and just had to move on...
Seems they no longer teach the use of proper hand signals when using a vehicle not equipped with turn signals LOL !!!! Left turn: Extend your left arm straight out of the window with all your fingers extended Right turn: Extend your arm upwards at a 90° angle with your palm facing forward Stop: Extend your arm downwards with your palm facing backwards.
Im going to start a youtube channel to call out the people making these calls. Including poor engineering decisions. Like plastic thermostat housings. Enough is enough.
As we have seen on your channel and by your own reports Colorado seems to be an outlier in the US for the car market. Crazy discounts and leases not available seemingly anywhere else in the country. The fact remains Jeeps 61% increase in price in the last few years continue to make even the cheapest model still unaffordable to most Americans. But that has been the plan all along hasn't it!?!
yep I agree with your views with Jeep...they would knock it out of the park if they would have a form of a "A LA Cart" option type of ordering...pick the most basic jeep and be able to add a factory lift,35-37 inch tall tires and Dana 44's or even more better a dana 60 option and other good jeep stuff that can have the box checked and they will sell more then ever...the packages are what is driving the cost thru the roof a lot of fu fu stuff and not much Jeep. Price the bare bones jeep cheap and then let us add what we want.
Oh come on! The Le Car was awesome! 😂 Probably their best selling car ever? I wanted one pretty badly when they came out… a whole roof sliding cloth sunroof! That was awesome! Jeep has totally lost their way… they need a base model, manual transmission, hand crank window for $25K … not $40K
The fact that lots of people who buy jeeps aren’t really using them for off roading is good and bad. It’s good because the volume brings the prices down, keeps the factory going, and should provide a good base of used vehicles for enthusiasts. But this isn’t working. The enthusiasts do not want the used vehicles because they hold their value way too well and they aren’t equipped properly. A lot of people want the cheap jeep, but that keep is now rare. Low supply and high demand increase prices. I’ll skip the next several paragraphs, but the culprit is CAFE.
I call BS. No dealership is marking down 20,000. Name the dealership and provide all the details. 6-7K at best. 4xe retail cash is 7.5K so maybe 10k on a hybrid.
I owned one jeep, 16 year old used jeep, for 1 year. Within a year of selling it, the frame was so rusted out it was deemed unroadworthy and removed from the road. Junk, absolute junk.
We need a couple AMERICAN billionaires to buy Jeep, Dodge, and Ram from that French disaster and bring back their American roots and heritage as brands. As a Jeep owner, it never should’ve ended up as a “luxury” brand. It’s supposed to be the fun, “outdoorsy” brand. Nobody wants an electric wagoneer that looks like a knockoff Range Rover and will cost almost as much as one. People want fun, reliable, and off-road capable. It’s really not that hard to listen to the customers🙄
It's more a German and Italian disaster than a French one. It seems like it started downhill with the merger with Daimler-Benz of Germany in the mid 2000s, then continued when it was sold off to FIAT of Italy in the early 2010s, which then merged a couple years ago with Peugeot-Citroen of France to form Stellantis.
@ French, German, Italian, all of them are hurting the brand cause they aren’t American. I as well drive a Wrangler and love it, albeit there’s not many “Jeep” parts left on it😅 The original Jeep literally served our country in war, and now it’s owned by some European dorks who don’t understand the US market whatsoever. Not a single Dodge Challenger or Charger owner in history said “I like my car, but I’d really love if it was electric”😂 How’d that work out for Mercedes? The Ford Lightning? All the Hummer EVs sitting on dealer lots. You know what sells even with stupid dealer markups? Raptor R’s. Wrangler 392s. Grand Cherokee and Durango Hellcats. Cause they’re all fun and have a sense of personality to them
I was going to essentially say the same thing… Jeep would benefit from being an American company again with American ownership. The 4wd market in the US is such a uniquely distinct thing from the European market… and with all the top folks who drove the passion of the brand that left recently…. I hope Stelantis crashes the value so badly someone can buy it cheap and refocus the brand.
We need to get you some jeep "knock offs" in the USA so you can see where real pricing and technology have gone in other countries. Maybe jeep can rethink their pricing and tech if those vehicles come to America. Competition would be great.
It's not hard at all to drive a Sherman tank anywhere. There's not much that's going to stop you. 😉 As for the cost, people want a lot, but don't want to pay a lot. I get it, I'd like to pay as little as possible for anything.
complaining about the price and then buying the fully loaded one is the american way tommy hahaha! and i'm going to continue to B.... the whole time and keep buying loaded vehicles haha!
I owned and regularly drove a 1977 Jeep CJ-5 Renegade for many years, and "Please start" was a phrase I frequently said. I still miss it. I had to sell it (along with three other vehicles) as the down payment on a brand new 2017 Wrangler Sport S, which I do like and has given me over 131,000 trouble-free miles and counting, so it wasn't a bad idea. It's just sometimes I still miss the old one's smells and sounds and feels. People blame Jeep on price increases, but everything has increased in price. Ford and General Motors products have also gone up, as have products from Nissan and Toyota. In fact, I'm pretty sure most Jeeps, while more than the comparable Korean SUVs, are still less than most comparable Japanese ones and definitely less than the European ones. Plus, he's not wrong on people wanting the higher-end ones. When I went to purchase my new Wrangler, the dealership made me an offer that in hindsight I should've taken. My wife and I really wanted a blue Wrangler, and they had a blue Rubicon on the lot that had been sitting there for over a year. According to the dealership, nobody was buying it because even though it was a Rubicon, it was a manual transmission. I wanted a manual, but we also really wanted four doors, and the Rubicon was a two door. The dealership tried to order us a blue four door Sport model, but the blue was discontinued right when we ordered, so we settled on a silver one instead. The dealership offered us the blue Rubicon for the price of the four door Sport S we ordered (it would have been $6,000 off), but we turned it down because we planned on selling it and getting a new diesel one in four years with the unlimited warranty, and the four door models hold their price better. Then when they announced they were discontinuing the unlimited warranty only one year in, we ended up getting it for our silver one instead. I should've taken their offer on the blue Rubicon when I had the chance, but hindsight is 20/20.
The main problem is that Jeep has allowed the watering down of its main claim of identity. Too many of its products are just another SUV dressed up to look outdoorsey. That is something that every other make also produces. They need to eliminate any of their products whose first reason for existence isn't off-roading. And they need to eliminate any bell and/or whistle that doesn't serve that specific purpose. Then they need to concentrate on reliability. Their bad years have slaughtered their reputation in that regard. This is the number one reason I cringe whenever any of my friends by a jeep. And I laugh everytime they say how great their Jeep is, followed by a litany of all the problems it has had, and continues to suffer. Its a great car. I can't wait to get it running again. Jeep is in desperate need of a purge, a pause, then a purposeful rebuilding of its brand.
I'll die on the same hill with you Tommy! My '08 Liberty has 215k miles on it (has no heat lol, common issue), but has given very reliable service. Our '08 Commander (4.7) has 252k miles on it and has been, by far, our most reliable vehicle. (The twins have Renegades at college and they've been great so far as well.) You used to be able to buy a Renegade TH for $23k...then they raised the prices to insane levels, and killed it. It was the entry level/affordable vehicle to get first time buyers in the Jeep family...they absolutely lost the plot with the $35k Compass as the 'cheap' Jeep model.
Jeep has the terrible habit of never giving their customers what they want when the want it. Gladiator with a 4.0? Nope. Had to wait to release it with a minivan engine. Color match fenders on a base model commuter? Nope, gotta spend megabucks on the top model. 4 cylinder diesel? It'll never happen, and in the off chance it ever does it will come with a terrible engine that isn't a good example of durabilty. They just do what they want since Chrysler sold out and everything continues to go downhill. Jeep was simplicity and durability. Now it is overcomplicated, overpriced, and anything but durable or easy to fix.
Piss poor build quality and eye wateringly stupid sticker prices combined to drive The Lovely Bride and I to take a hard pass on the 2024 Jeep Gladiators we looked at and test drove to purchase a lightly used 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 instead. And that kind of broke my heart as I have been a Jeep fan since the 1970s.
Not street legal in most places (although they can be made street legal in places that allow side by sides on road). I agree it’s a super cool rig. But even if jeep introduced a $25k 2 door with manual windows and locks, I don’t think most people would buy it.
@douglaseuritt3919 no! This is a brand new Mahindra - "Jeep" called the Thar ROXX not the ol'Roxor. It's a stupid name but it's a pretty good car for the price!
I currently have a '17 Wrangler that I use as my "Toad" behind my camper. But I would have gladly bought a brand new CJ5 with this same Pentastar V6 and 6 speed instead. The narrower track width DID make it more unstable on the highway at speed, but it also made for a much better off road vehicle.
Yes and No, the wider track of the Wrangler actually helps in Stability on and off-road, whereas the CJ5 can navigate narrower trails easier but the narrow width and wheelbase can also be harrowing as well.

Your videos are a treat for the eyes and mind! The quality is top notch and the presentation of information is professional. Thank you so much!🐷🏆🥕
Very nice video, thanks. I'm planning to order the 2025 or 2026 2-doors 6-speed manual transmission Wrangler Sport S. And if I can get the manual crank windows I would get them.
🎶"the hills are a live with the sound of........" 🎶 🤣
Proud to introduce purity balance of spirit and body 🙏🏼. This video is beautiful expression of such open love. Laughter is the openness of fun for the soul...
.... Sheesh... Geez. What's up with all these abstract fake profile comments 🤷🏼♀️🤷♂️🤦♂️... Thanks Tommy for another good Jeep video.
BEST video roman has ever been n
I liked the crossfire. Especially the srt version
I miss the idea of having a Jeep. Loved going offroad with my JK, but it was having compression issues at just 30k miles and needed a major overhaul. I am 0 for 2 with the Jeep brand and just had to move on...
4.0L straight 6. Find an 04-06, bulletproof with the 6 speed manual...
Seems they no longer teach the use of proper hand signals when using a vehicle not equipped with turn signals LOL !!!! Left turn: Extend your left arm straight out of the window with all your fingers extended Right turn: Extend your arm upwards at a 90° angle with your palm facing forward
Stop: Extend your arm downwards with your palm facing backwards.
what happened to Jeep?????!!!!.....Stellantis is what happened
Im going to start a youtube channel to call out the people making these calls.
Including poor engineering decisions. Like plastic thermostat housings.
Enough is enough.
As we have seen on your channel and by your own reports Colorado seems to be an outlier in the US for the car market. Crazy discounts and leases not available seemingly anywhere else in the country. The fact remains Jeeps 61% increase in price in the last few years continue to make even the cheapest model still unaffordable to most Americans. But that has been the plan all along hasn't it!?!
Stellantis.
What about the TJ?
The ending 😂😂😂😂
Stellantis happened to it.
As a former 1979 CJ7 Owner - I don’t want another Jeep lol
13:18 or better yet, buyers who only ever get used vehicles trying to weigh in on new vehicles....
you forgot to mention the Jeep Commander which to me looked very cool especially with the 5.7 liter Hemi V8
yep I agree with your views with Jeep...they would knock it out of the park if they would have a form of a "A LA Cart" option type of ordering...pick the most basic jeep and be able to add a factory lift,35-37 inch tall tires and Dana 44's or even more better a dana 60 option and other good jeep stuff that can have the box checked and they will sell more then ever...the packages are what is driving the cost thru the roof a lot of fu fu stuff and not much Jeep. Price the bare bones jeep cheap and then let us add what we want.
I just knew you dreamed about willies
A nice solid liberty
WW2 generation are not the car buyers anymore. Today's car buyers don't even remember WW2...
And they identify more with the Nazis than the Americans of WW2.
Until you sat in a Dodge Monaco or the Eagle Premier/Medallion all of them were absolute junk of cars based off the Renault 21/25
That Willys Jeep needs an angry grille
Fiat and Stellantis happened to Jeep...
Cause they’re all fun and have a sense of personality to them
America: land of the scam
Home of the fake
From my point of view I thing stellantis should have use the luxury resources or idea in Chrysler and not Jeep
As for the cost, people want a lot, but don't want to pay a lot. I get it, I'd like to pay as little as possible for anything.
The cams and rockers are so bad on these engines the dealer stocks lots of them
complaining about the price and then buying the fully loaded one is the american way tommy hahaha! and i'm going to continue to B.... the whole time and keep buying loaded vehicles haha!
Chrysler. Chrysler happened.
You believe things improved under Fiat? That's a hot take that many will fight you on.
Jeep wrangler sahara in europe: only in hybrid plugin and base is 69000euro!! No way in hell people are buying that.
Carlos happened to Jeep....
I'll die on the same hill with you Tommy! My '08 Liberty has 215k miles on it (has no heat lol, common issue), but has given very reliable service. Our '08 Commander (4.7) has 252k miles on it and has been, by far, our most reliable vehicle. (The twins have Renegades at college and they've been great so far as well.)
You used to be able to buy a Renegade TH for $23k...then they raised the prices to insane levels, and killed it. It was the entry level/affordable vehicle to get first time buyers in the Jeep family...they absolutely lost the plot with the $35k Compass as the 'cheap' Jeep model.
All was good until the re-design of 2018.
Y'all are crazy. Jeep was crap WAY before Stallantis
Jeep sold out like Metallica and that Napster thing.
Jeep has been awful since the early 90's after Chrysler got ahold of them in the late 80's.
greedy is wat happen
people just google Thar Roxx, an affordable jeep!
ROXOR…don’t you just hate autocorrect?
Yawn. I've owned 4 vintage jeeps, including CJ2, two CJ5s, and a CJ7. I didn't accidentally choose my favorite @@MichaelSmith-kr9qw
Sorry I think Jeep and its owners just catch the flack for the entire industry. Please look up the train wreck that the Bronco has been
Can we just agree that brunch should always involve bottomless mimosas and no judgment about second helpings🐱
