    I’ve had my Maverick for a little over 3 months. It’s a AWD XLT ecobeast. I’m about to roll over 10k miles. I live in Midwest and it’s done everything I bought it for. It handles pretty decent in inclement weather. The continental tires are good highway tires but are subpar in snow etc. I work for the railroad and I travel a 100 miles a day and use it to haul odds and ends stuff. I have a family of 4 that easily fits in it if needed. No you’re not gonna haul 10k lbs or tow a house with it but just for running around and hauling smaller stuff it’s perfect and with today’s fuel prices it was a win. In my opinion, these are more like the old Rangers. So if you liked the older rangers, you’d probably like these.

First tank got almost 29 mpg in mixed driving. And up to 34 mph hiway on back roads. I will admit I'm the old guy in the right lane doing the speed limit. Very little leg room, while sitting in the back seat, would be my biggest complaint. The one I drove was a FWD, 4 cylinder only vehicle. It was not the hybrid model. Good review! I've had my Maverick XLT for about 6 months now. At ~8K miles, I've been thoroughly impressed! It's smooth to ride, has plenty of giddy-up, particularly if you're rolling along and punch it.
    Gas mileage hovers at 30. When I do a full run at the 55-65 MPH steady state drive, I'll get as high as 34 with the 2 liter turbo engine.
    My only complaint is that it should sit higher. Not much, but another two inches and remove the skirting on the nose and it would be much more ranch road friendly.

    I have essentially this same truck, except I got mine with the tow package. Comes with the hitch, and a built in brake controller. The primary reason to opt for the AWD , in my opinion, is if you are going to want to be able to tow 4,000 lbs. Or take it off road at all. The bed is short, but the tailgate has a second set of pins you can latch it to that enables it to carry 4 x 8 sheet goods like plywood or drywall. The XLT version also has a 110 power outlet inside the cab and another in the bed. I hate the fact that it does the shut off thing at a light- but there is a button near the shift knob that you press when you start up and it turns that annoying feature off. And if you set the drive program to Speed, it delays shifting in the 8 speed gearbox in a way that really makes the truck quite quick ( closer to 280 hp btw) If you set it to ECO mode, then the truck is really pretty slow in acceleration, but that’s how you get the 24 mpg its capable of. The Interior appointments are really quite nice on the XLT, two kinds of charge ports, hand free cell phone service and streaming music, and I got a rear sliding window as an option when I ordered the truck. Another great feature is interior storage. The entire rear seat lifts up and has ample storage underneath for tie down straps, road flares, first aid kit, bungies , jumper cables and more. And I can attest that 5 full grown adults can sit comfortably in the truck. All in all, I am very happy with the Maverick. The only things I would change is the ability to set the auto shutoff system to be OFF as a default, and the Shift knob to have full stops at drive and park so you don’t always have to LOOK to see you are in the right spot. Even with the AWD, tow package and XLT trim package, my truck still came in under 32K.

    I love this little truck! It's just the kind of truck that I'd need, using it for Kayak trailers, single axle utility trailers, etc. most of them are rated around 3,000-3,500 lbs anyways that's all I would need to haul realistically. It's a great truck around town being small & nimble enough to maneuver easily, along for the price point it's being offered at there's nothing else that can beat it imo. Especially for when 90%-95% of the time you're really using it as a daily driver hauling & towing stuff occasionally, you don't need a giant truck to do all of that with either.

    • @langhamp8912
      @langhamp8912 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've got this truck. It's a tiny truck and shockingly narrow. Like KIA Forte narrow but about 2 feet longer. It's not a tall vehicle either; you sit higher than a car, yes, but not by much. Yet it has a 6 foot bed, tows at least 4000 pounds, is shockingly quick, parks easily, great airconditioning and just an all-around comfortable and useful vehicle.
      It's almost a truck for people who intensely dislike trucks. If you made a truck that was furthest from a truck that could still do truck things, then this 32 to 38 mpg truck is it.

I drive between 50,000 and 55,000 miles a year as a service tech maintaining the machines that build our vehicles domestically, so it makes it hard to justify buying a new vehicle when I will be out of warranty with 3 years of payments left. If I bought one I would be looking for the best mileage without relying on the hybrid system since I don’t have time to stop and charge it when a customer has a machine down. First thing I would do is retro fit it with vintage Ranchero badges just to mess with people. Also love to hear you ride a Triumph, we’re a big bike riding family too. Stay safe out there!

    I have a 2015 Ford Fusion that was made in Ford's Hermosillo plant in Mexico. It's been a great car from a build quality standpoint. Actually, much better that the other Fords that we've owned that were built in the US. The 2.0 turbo has shown to be a pretty solid engine as well; I've had two of them go over 150k miles without any issues other than they both needed a purge valve to be replaced at around 80k miles. Kind of a pain to replace because of the location, but it was only swapping out a $90 part, so no real hardship there.

    Front wheel drive still needs 4 snow tires. I discovered this driving a FWD VW with snow tires only on the front. The rear end let go on a curve while the front still had traction, an interesting 180. Braking is also a problem with snows on the front only as the rear/front braking is unbalanced.

    • @KLondike5
      @KLondike5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gs98999A few things about the many people not liking the two snow tire idea. First many people don't do any snow tires especially in the milder winter climates. It's an expensive thing to have a full set of extra rims and tires and have someone swap them out twice a year for you. And people don't know just how much more useful those tires are. All season tires are trash in the winter in my opinion. But I didn't have any experience with snow tires until I went to the used tire dealer and they had nothing else available. I was amazed how impossible it was to get stuck in my front wheel drive vehicle with snow tires. Even if I knew my budget really didn't allow for them before. After that, and since I mostly drive in town delivering stuff, I opted to buy snow tires just for the drive wheels on future vehicles. Yes the rear end can slide, but that can be controlled by driving technique. Also I value being able to actually move forward and being able to control where I go rather than the occasional sliding of a foot by my rear tires. I really don't understand the idea of putting a pair of snow tires in the back if you only have two for a front wheel vehicle. Now I've lost all of my ability to control my steering and forward motion so that my rear tires don't skid sideways once in a while?
