I make it a habit to use dielectric grease on any connectors I separate. BTW, the diagnostic cap by the shifter has a smart box bypass. Take a paperclip with plyers to "S" & "T" to manually crank the engine over while switch is in the run position.
Absolutely loving your Humvee Videos - one small suggestion regarding connecting/disconnecting your battery - the negative lead is always first off when disconnecting and last on when reconnecting. The main reason for this is that when you connect your negative lead the body of the vehicle is then grounded (although I know in an aluminium Humvee grounding is not great). So, if you were then to accidentally touch your wrench against the body when connecting the positive lead you could cause a short circuit which could be bad for your batter, but I would say much worse for the Glow pug Controller (start box) that you just fixed!!!!! So if you leave the negative lead disconnected until last, then you cant accidentally cause a short circuit
Hi, nice m998. I wanted to recommend installing a grounding harness. This will really help with starting, especially in cold weather. You can make it yourself. I did. Also, the smart box can be opened and the solenoids replaced if needed. I had to replace my glow plug controller. Lastly, at least for now, to add a kill switch look at wire 54 and if you need any manuals let me know. I have quite a few. Best of luck! Just thought of one more thing, make sure your vent lines are open. The geared hubs to the transmission to the front and rear difs all enter the air cleaner can. If not your hubs may leak after driving a while and the seals really are not bad. Just tips from experience!
The SOCOM Ground Mobility Vehicle GMV Running Board are hung on shoulder bolts through 1/4 in steel rockslider/jackrails, bolted to the rocker panels with 3/8"-16 Grade 8 Bolts.
Hey brother I’m new to your channel. You should try some wd-40 on the shifter through the bottom and top and you should be good to go. Mine was stuck as well and as a soon as I sprayed WD-40 it shifted smoothly. Thank you for your service. Much appreciated from Miami💪
It was either the plug(they obviously put it in wrong, no idea what they were thinking) or it just started to crank. If you are at the point of it trying to turn over, it wouldn’t be the start box itself. Glow plugs aren’t needed in summer. I want to get a dead box to build a bypass box for mine once mine dies. I’m not going to keep buying $500-800 boxes.
U got to get a way to provide a rocking deep lasting 24 volts. Because, u got to crank the shit out of it and pump the pedal til ur foot falls off.. Light use of starting fuel.
Nice to hear it run... i was wondering if it was going to at the beginning of the vid. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Curious, if you purchase a new shifter, are you interested in getting rid of the old one? If so, let me know how I can take it off your hands. Cheers man!
@@SplitBuilds I see, it's a risk. No way I could rebuild the engine. And probably some of the non runners will need that. Can't wait to see what you do with your new Humvee, previous one is great.
Hi dear friend. I would like to ask you to make a simple video that is on the operation of the transfer case ... the short marches ... no Italian dealer visited knows the perfect functioning of the transfer case ... it seems impossible to know it and therefore understand it .... after 10 years I can't understand how it works ... can you make a video? thanks from Italy.!!
Congrats!!! Nothing better than a running HMMWV! Ooooh Raaah!
Awesome Engine Sound !
I got as happy as you when the engine fire up !!!! I can’t wait to get my !
I was thrilled!

Good info!
Definitely like your work and presentation. Looks like alot of fun.

Thanks, it’s a M1123. I’ve done the grounding harness on my previous builds, definitely a must
@@SplitBuilds , this is a M1043...armored version of the M1123
Your idea is very good
Happy to see it runs!!!!

Great video brother. Would you recommend me a reliable ignition switch please. Thanks.
Nice engine is working!!!!

I tried… put 3 in 1 oil, wd and atv lube down in there… I’ll keep trying lol
Sounds good brother 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Goddamn that vehicle looks fanfriggintastic!
Yea buddy keep em coming
Nice m998.
18:23, hate when the tab breaks off
Those cannon plugs are aircraft mil spec, u can get them at aircraft spruce or any aircraft spares parts
You can repin the can connection.
Great!!!! Engine fire up!!!!
kind of figured this humvee was flooded from last video
Yeeeees

Also, the glow plugs have a tendency to swell and break. Just be careful when you replace them.
Absolutely
Yeah they use those steps for VIP couriers, the security detail stands on the steps.

Any chance you have a running list of parts so far?...
I’m not but need to get one together
👏🏼 👏🏼
Good job but never grind around glass. The sparks will ruin your windows or windshield.
How much did you buy the hummer for??? I'm putting a bid in on govplanet....don't want to bid too high or low...
For non-running non-driving stay under 10,000.
Rad 🤙
Are the usually easy fix? I see non runners go for much better price on the auction.
Easy is loose term, but it’s much different than any other truck. I’m no diesel mechanic but not bad. Rebuilding the motor… that’s a different story

@@mrdato116 it’s definitely a risk for sure, never know what your getting
They can't be tight if there dust lol 👊🏻

Anyone know how hard it would be to title and register in FL
Can a hummer run on kerosene?
I mean for awhile I guess…
Any diesel can run on kero. It's basically more refined diesel. I add some kero to my diesel tank in winter to prevent the fuel from gelling
Buy the cannon plug, do it right Bro
Is that iraqi flag behind you 10:34
I was celebrating from my house lol
Looks like that humvee needs a good soak in some penetrating fluid
Edit: watch out for the copyright police with those songs on the radio 👀
Your videos kept me alive during the pandemic lol let me buy your first Humvee!
😆
Avoid Amazon unless it's a known brand. Lots of shady no-name Chinese tools and products that are absolute garbage
What is the story of pre 1991 Iraqi flag?
I hope you accept Crypto payment on this one. 💰 🪙 🚀.
