My cousin has a camper very much like this built on a 90 Chevy chassis. They’ve been all over the US in it and as far south as Costa Rica and it doesn’t even have 4wd. This is the coolest rig.
What a great build, I’ve seen some British people do the same with a Land Rover army field ambulance, think this Humvee is cooler though, they make great vehicles to convert and are built for rough terrain too.
1:48 Random tidbit for anybody else that doesnt know, do NOT drive around and display or use the Canadian Red Cross logo, its against the Geneva Convention to have or display any red cross with a white background because of the intent and purpose of what the symbol means. Not nitpicking the video in any way, just happened to notice where they removed it from the side as this was an old military ambulance basically and wanted to bring it up and mention it for others.
Respect the build. Great job ^^ I just wish that there were more builds online that were tall enough for a six-four guy to walk through without ducking. Now that would be a camper I'd pay good money for...
"If you have problems at 6'4" then i'm fucked, don't know much about camping and but i think being 6'8" would make it REAL difficult based on some comments i've seen so far
I saw the thumbnail and could smell the back of that FLA. It's basically a second home for any army medic! I could never openly admit it, but I've always loved the idea of turning one of these into a camper.
Just started, hope it works, I seem to recall watcing one of those big car youtubers driving a humvee back to his home state and having it break down every 100 miles. I wouldnt want that anywhere near a "camper"
I am pursuing a van conversion currently. Personally, I would never choose one of these to convert, but I am not here to be negative. I commend you for you having a vision and pursuing it. "Don't let your dreams be dreams." Shia Lebuff
Looks awesome! For the receptacles, I believe it was Leviton making ones with spring loaded connections which would be nice for the vibrations. Also, the four little "ears" on the receptacles can be removed to allow it to sit flush in the old work style boxes.
Homies straight up building this off hopes and dreams. Shoulda stripped this down to the frame cause these vehicles are used and abused. Best of luck. Nice interior build.
The Humvee is becoming a legend in Japan, as it is no longer seen in Japan due to issues with its width, maintenance costs, vehicle inspection fees, and fuel efficiency. Turning it into a camper shows that Americans are quick to think and adapt.
You guys did a great job! But the cut outs of the counter top should be sealed with calk, to prevent water getting into the bare wood! Should be done befor putting in sink and extras!
You guys are incredibly skilled! Hats off to the build too but all those micro cuts/etches/sanding and so on are so easy to mess up yet the compound of all that done so seamlessly! 🤯
The only thing lack on this video is duration, I would watch it if this was longer, and just watched someone build smallest camper with three wheels over one hour video. Anyway, good build man.
Very interesting job! You did a good job, everything was done neatly and efficiently. I only have a few questions: This “beast” eats a lot of fuel, what is the autonomy of this car? You made a full-fledged kitchen and a toilet block, which is good, but the sleeping space turned out to be a little small, don’t you think so??
What a HUGE father & son great project .. FANTASTIC / AWESOME job .. AHHHHH that’s EXQUISITE.. quite a creation / you sure can be extremely proud of yourselves .. ❤ from Québec
Just curious what you used to insulate. Usually with van and box builds i see them use either reflective sheets or styro filler. Still takes away from interior useable space, but you guys used every inch of the interior which is amazing.
Hi..nice work..but i'm wondering..y not u make expandable compartment..like pull out match box with a stand maybe so u can expand it for more space for bed or something when u camp and retract back compartment when not in use.
I'm surprised you went with a tile bathroom, Personally I would have done stainless steel for ease of cleaning and germs. Did you ever consider a Duramax swap to give you more power and better transmission options?
You skills in building and videoing what you are doing is on another level I rarely see on TH-cam. The detail at 10:27 of the video making that name plate roaming ventures is sweet. You plan on visiting grandpa in MI this year. Check out Torch Lake while you are there.
Nice and smart design! Everything you need without wasted space. I couldn't resist to say that the bathroom walls look like the thermal shield of the Starship. 😁
Great build! did you consider going stainless steel on the shower or a lighter material instead of tile and also changing the suspension for a more confortable ride.
"Scrap," only a moving kitchen.. "Hard sleeping place, no shower, where a sleeping place and a shower in a camper" is the most important thing for me personally.
i wonder how much will they sell it if they are going to do it, with all the effort put in it and because is done all by hand it will be at least on the 500k if not on the million XD
I'm so glad I found this video; It's given me the realization that most of the unknown(to rest of the world) US States are just like English speaking eastern European countries when it come to Heath and safety and technical knowhow🤣😂😅🤣😂😅.
I am thinking about doing something similar and found a running ambulance but the owner only has an SF97 for it. Do you know anything about titling it secondhand? Also, how thick are the ambulance walls? It doesn’t have the rear doors so I need to manufacture that and I was just curious as you cut windows and such.
@@roamingventures I really appreciate your build threads. Very helpful. If I were to do it, I’m thinking about raising the whole roof up a couple of inches by adding a spacer all around on the sides. Also it is pretty noisey to drive? Can you do 75 mph comfortably now with the 4Spd?
@@daviddouglass208yeah a roof raise would be nice. The noise isn’t that bad since I put sound deadening in the driver cab. Yeah since the transmission swap 75mph is how fast it can go
@@roamingventures You’ve been amazing answering questions, do you remember what are the interior dimensions of the living quarters of the ambulance are?
1200 hours is about 50 or 60 days straight of work if i recall correctly (most rust youtubers have about 10000 hours and that is 400 days straight of playtime)
If I had the time and money myself I would build something like this, but make it so it could connect to RV Park hook up and live out of it. I don;t mind tiny places, use to rent a room that was only 6'x10'
Yall put a lot of hours into this beast! So worth it to see the final product! 😍🔥
It was a lot of work!
Great quality time with your Dad. Excellent mods to your rig.
Thanks 👍 he’s the best

It’s tough fitting in my tacomas camper shell bed at 6’4 the struggle is real brotha

The white looks amazing, and it will make the space look a lot bigger than what it actually is. Great job 🤘🏽🙏🏽🔥
