Kind of yes. No one will argue, that for web development 2 monitors are better than 1. Also 1 big monitor is way better than 2, becasue 2 monitors burn out unevenly, the picture differs. After working on 2 old monitors for 2 years I need to wear an eyeglasses and it sucks. Big monitor = better productivity. You can work faster, you can learn better. Ordered mine g9 - waiting to be delivered.
I am a developer and was working off a single 27" whilst WFH during the pandemic and it really stifled my productivity, so i switched to dual 27" and it made a massive difference to productivity. I also recommend the Logitech MX Keys / MX Master 3 as it allows you to switch keyboard/mouse inputs between multiple PC's at the click of a button. I found the Odyssey G9 didnt work for me though due to the software restrictions on my work laptop, it also would have benefitted to have USB-C display input which it does not.
Just switched to this after using 3 22" 1080p for the last few years and I'm absolutely in love. My desk is so much less cluttered and I can also edit panoramic photos so much better now that there are no gaps from bridging across screens. Just the increased richness of the picture color is worth it.
I currently run a 3-monitor setup (with wildly varying specifications) and I'm considering grabbing two of these and mounting one on top of the other on a wall-mount to create a virtual 2x2 array of 1440p displays. I work as a sysadmin and in almost every case it's useful to have several windows at once. I could have monitoring, reference documents, multiple putty instances, RDP windows, and my work chat app all on screen at once, which makes my workflow so much smoother. On top of that, I like to play RTS games (and EVE) on my off time, and those types of games can really benefit from having a ton of screen real estate!
I started with a laptop and then an external 27" 1080p monitor and then the Apple Thunderbolt Display. Switched to the iMac 24" and I finally replaced the 1080p with a 32" 4K and that beast is amazing. It makes the 2 other monitors seem tiny 😆. It was so amazing that I got a 2nd one and put all of the monitors together in a stand. I was up to 5 monitors when I replaced the iMac with a mbp. Now I'm missing the 5th monitor as it's not possible to use the mbp as a monitor with the other monitors on the stand. So I'm prolly going to eventually buy 3 more Apple Studio Displays. It's super productive having so many monitors
I'm using 2 monitors, the main one being 4K 43", and the secondary being FHD 27" Since the main one is 4K, it means that I have FHD twice, so I can quickly code and see results before needing to expand to the second monitor; makes my life so much easier
It looks tempting, but as you said, you have to turn your head to see the whole thing. I'm currently using a 32" 2560x1440 curved monitor, and that's about as large as I can go without turning my head. Definitely more productive than I was with a 22" FHD monitor, though I did pick the new monitor to have about the same pixel size as the previous monitor. I also don't need the split screen functionality, that could be a definite reason to go with the G9 if you need it. On the other hand, the G9 would pretty much take up the whole width of my desk, and since I use the desk for more than just programming, that might get frustrating. As is, the 32" curved monitor took up too much of the desk space until I got a monitor arm that was strong enough for the weight of the larger monitor.
Thank you for backing up my belief!! I’m getting a 10k tower and contemplating this exact monitor (240hz) but my conscience tells me it’s overkill, but nah it’s actually not..
The point of the 49 inches ultra wide is that you have the same real estate as two 27 inches with half the cables and with no black border in the middle... it could be just me... but... why would you open 6 applications at the same time and have them side by side? No wonder you're straining your neck. If you want to better organize your workspace to see more applications at once, separate it in half like two monitor and use a tile window manager...
Unfortunately tiling window managers are quite bad for productivity as they don't have proper mouse support and for the most part they don't allow minimizing windows / workspaces. They work somewhat if you never change the layout, but let's be real, you're going to still change the window layout like every 10 minutes. Hopefully at some point someone gets a proper tiling window manager out there. The best one I have found so far is Pop Shell, but it's still quite buggy and I ended up having to fight quite a lot when dealing with minimized windows.
I am trying to get away from tiling window managers. Used i3wm for years but I realize that the human brain is better at placing and remembering things spatially than logically. I had a three monitor setup but I feel much better with one 32" QHD now while trying to figure out which ultrawide I want and can afford. This is also the magic you have when you can manually arrange icons in file managers.
Short answer from experience, no. My ex CTO at the startup is literally a God. He only worked on a 14 inch thinkpad the whole time. He is so Godly that he didn't like Amazon's offer and completely refused Facebook's offer because of personal reasons. His logic is unbeatable and he is really on another level... All on a 14 inch. The idea of the video is just extra really.
Why? Why does it never occur to anybody to use a MACROPAD. Alonge with a bigger screen (and all the other jazz), get you something like a "Razer Orbweaver" macropad. One click to copy, one click to paste, one click to cut, one click to open/close a window, one click to save, one click to run, it's limitless. Wana top it off? Get you a "Razer Naga Trinity". Whoever follows my liquid gold advice, get back to me. And let me know how massive the difference is in your coding/programming performance!
Awesome video! Do you mind sharing your brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc G9 settings that you found to be ideal for reading text and writing? It’s been a pain to find out what’s the easiest on the eyes haha
Hi I want to decide between Gigabyte M32U and Samsung Neo G8. I am also using VS code 8-10 hours a day? I never used curved monitor, so should I go for curved monitor?
I've been asking around and with 34" 3440 x 1440 most people prefer curved to flat. Of the bigger sizes, all 38" 3840 x 1600 are curved with a similar radius, but with 5120 x 1440 I think there's some choice. There are also 3840 x 1080 49" but those are mostly good for gaming. I am myself trying to decide whether I want a 34", 38" or a 49" though I can probably only afford the first one.
Na just a follow up, I noticed many people often do a follow up to let people know how the experience is a while, since sometimes people find it can be worse (or better) after actually using a product for a longer period, and since I use a monitor for 8 hours a day, everyday, for the whole year, its an important item in life to me
How come so many devs have an issue with turning their heads?? lol when you walk down the street and you cross the road do you complain you have to turn your head?? lol
I am thinking about the same thing, but I am leaning towards getting this one. Its about 600$ cheaper than the neo where I live, and for me the neo does not seem to be worth the 600$ extra (based out of my personal budget)

You could get an adapter for usb-c dp (thunderbolt) to normal Display Port. It should only be a difference in the shape of the port.

Ultra wide or 2 monitor setup is a must for me as a software developer.

There's another app, called Barrier, that you can use across Linux, Windows and MacOS in order to share mouse and keyboard across multiple devices.

How is the text clarity
this is my question as well
@@tonyhuynh6789 I got it and the text clarity is not good, it is about 70% clear as compared to the MacBook

Sure, I have brightness very low, 10%, the other settings are default
I've been looking at one to replace my two 27" thunderbolts but I'm unsure if my MacBook would have an issue and if I can utilize every pixel.
It can
My jam is triple 24 inch display with vertical side wings... Extra screen realest ate without neck strains....

Did I see you coding on your iPad? What’s your software setup for that ?

hell yeah
haha depends on the video!
Does working with Adrian make you a better dev?

Here Dell 49 with a 43 on top and 27 on the side for console.log portrait mode
wait please tell me that was an edited part of the video when you opened android studio
How to did you do the split OS on a single monitor?
Split screen option in the monitor settings
Yes it does
