+MrAgentIncognito That really just depends on the character modeller. The one for the who did the doll probably didn't bother with unwrapping the back of the eye, since no one would see it anyway.
+Narukami Yu I love her voice so much. I wish I could still play Bloodborne, as my friend's PS4 which it was on was stolen. It's so cold without you Doll....T_T
+Narukami Yu In a world full of foul beasts and terrible ancient gods, the doll is the most calming, caring and cutest thing. Don't even care if she has a correlation to the Winter Lanterns.
Here's an insight. Even after killing Rom, the Vacuous Spider, the moon is still not paleblood red at Byrgenwerth. This is either a mistake on FromSoftware, or it has greater lore implications.
well, the palebood moon is caused by the moon presence. it's unnatural, probably why the sky turns purple as well, since purple is one of the rarest natural colors. so, all that implies is that the moon presence isn't focused on byrgenwerth and cainhurst, it's focused on yharnam. probably since it's goal seems to be killing great ones, and yharnam is full to bursting with them, while cainhurst has none and rom is kin, not great one.
Crows are also known to give stones as gifts to people they like. My wife feeds the crows at work, and they've started bringing her small gifts like shiny stones.
The Bloodletting Beasts name actually means quite a lot on its own as the process of "Bloodletting" was an old medicinal practice wherein blood would be withdrawn from a patient to prevent illness or disease. I think this most definitely links it to the skull of Lawrence in the healing church, as he is the founder of blood-healing. Quite fascinating if you ask me!
Rae Of Astora The Winter Lantern's hands? It would make sense, since the Doll is not actually a real person (or at least not until you gain an insight).
Maybe dolls that have become self aware eventually become their version of beasts too. Self awareness to the extreme is akin to maximum insight (Like the Lanterns, and the great Ones), which causes frenzy.
The hunters mark could also be a reference to the hanged man tarot card which, makes sense, its about being trapped, your stuck hanging so might aswell take it all in and observe
Regarding the doll having eyes on the inside of her eyes: the description of the one third of umbilical cord reads: "Use to gain Insight and, so they say, eyes on the inside, although no one remembers what that truly entails."
On a side note, you can begin the blood moon phase and the Hunter's Dream music will change on it's own. I never hit over 20 insight in my first few playthroughs and this happened every time.
yeah, and the reason is that the paleblood sky was being held back by rom, and rom holding it back is what what hiding all the insane shit from the normals. it's why you can also see the amygdalas with 0 insight after the paleblood moon rises. so what that means is that's what the hunter's dream music always sounded like, you just weren't good enough to hear it.
I wanted to suggest something, and it's got to do with the change in Hunter's Dream's music at 50 Insight or the initiation of the Blood Moon, and its relation to the Great One Oedon. It's taken me a while to get this figured out, but if I'm wrong I'm happy to be corrected. Two questions were raised when I noticed the change in music. *Why did the music change, and who is the voice that sings along with it?* As Vaati shows, the music changes at 50 Insight or Blood Moon Phase, which is when the Eldritch Truth becomes noticable to the player. The perception of the Eldritch, such as the Amygdala, is directly linked to Insight and the Blood Moon Phase. We know that any change related to Insight is also related to Eldritch Truth. This would lead us to believe that the singing itself is related to the removal of the veil around the Eldritch Truth, and the player gaining Insight into the Eldritch. *The added singing in the music is directly linked to the perception of the Eldritch, making the song itself an Eldritch thing.* The first question is answered, the singing is added because of the player's perception into the Eldritch. *It cannot be heard by someone who lacks Insight into the Eldritch.* The second question is trickier, as we never really see the person/thing that sings in the music. The first one I thought of was that the doll was singing along, but the doll has no other changes along with higher Insight, nor do we actually notice her singing, so it didn't make much sense. Then I noticed the item description for the Formless Oedon Rune: *"The Great One Oedon, lacking form, exists in voice alone..."* We know that Oeden never physically appears in the game, the only thing we have that hints at Oedon's existence is the rune, which informs us that Oedon can only be perceived in voice. This is where I start getting into stretchy territory, but I would venture that *it's actually Oedon itself that sings in the Hunter's Dream after the player obtains knowledge of the Eldritch.* I might be wrong, but if anyone has anything to add, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the matter.
I think this is rather interesting. It could be something like the Silmarillion, from j.r.r. Tolkien, where the first being, god, directed the song of existence, and only the lesser powers, that still appeared like deities to iluvatar's hildren, could understand it. If this was the case, being revealed the Eldritch truth, or gaining such an insight (in japanese it means enlightenment) to find it out yourself, would mean that the Oedon is something like fate, directing the steps of all living creatures, and the great ones are creatures that have understood how to partecipate to this song, as you, in the end, do. Like you can finally see the world as it really is, understand the endless cycle of life and creation, which is one of the steps necessary for you to become a great one (to have that final, you have to consume three ombelical cords, which give you INSIGHT). But still, we' re speculating on a song with no words, and i find it both cool and frustrating that From will never reveal us what they actually wanted to tell us... GREAT INSIGHT, MAN!!!!
Isn't the doll 'inhabited' by something? Maybe we can't normally percieve any part of it except the doll, but with one insight, we can hear it speak, and with 50, we can hear it sing. (Supported by the fact that the doll is *always* alive.)
You may already know this (sorry if I'm not catching a joke) but your echoes don't go to what kills you, the echoes drop and any enemy can walk by and pick them up, even if they didn't kill you
tipoomaster it makes sense in both the surrender to gherman ending and the new childhood ending. the only option she doesn't want for you is the one where you replace gherman.
Has anyone else noticed that after you go to the Nightmare Frontier, if you go back to the window you spoke to Patches through in the Forbidden Woods there's a different NPC? I've looked all over the internet and didn't find anything about her. It's as if nobody else has even found her, or has at least mentioned finding her. She says "...Oh, heavens...would you stop that? Every peep you make brings us bad luck. I have it bad enough already... Please, just let a poor old woman be..." Interestingly, if you look closely at her with a monocular, you can see that she is turning into a beast. Which means that she is the only female beast in the game that is still mostly human, like all the enemy mobs, except she hasn't gone insane yet. That is, until the blood moon. She just groans if you try to talk to her then.
Same here mate. The original guy gives you an item and tells you to find like a hidden chapel or some. Then I came back for the hidden passage and I got the ladies dialogue instead and felt insulted lol
coltpython6 This is incredibly late but I think I have an answer for anyone whose curious. When you open the door to the forbidden woods for a brief period of time patches replaces the npc’s in all the windows. If you didn’t talk to him in one of the cathedral ward windows then that would probably be the first window you would encounter after this.
@@Breakingbad33 I actually encountered Patches in the first house in hemwick lane, which is where he gave me the tonsil stone. I heard the dialogue coltpython6 talks about in the Forbidden woods as spoken by the lady, I'd already spoken to Patches, and never encounter the spider in the forbidden woods.
Most people might have noticed by now, but the Moon Presence theme also features the aformentioned second theme of the Hunters Dream at the beginning and end. I think it's a nice little touch to musically depict how the soothing and tranquil atmosphere of the Hunter's Dream turns into this battlefield of nightmarish and otherworldly forces in the end.
Hey Vaati, after beating Dark Souls III I decided to go back to Demon's Souls. And speaking of the Hunter's Rune, believe it or not, it's actually been before us the entire time! Look up the next time you're in the Nexus.
Late, but I discovered something interesting in Cainhurst: Before the long hallway with the single rapier-wielding hunchback, you can look out from Cainhurt and see Yharnam and Hemwick on the shores of the lake, lighting up the hills around them. Once you enter that hallway (it's over the gate of the castle), if you try to look for Yharnam and Hemwick, they're not there. You can see the hills and the light they cast, but you can't see the buildings. The Cainhurst nobles did whatever illusions they had to make it where they didn't have to look at Yharnam and Hemwick.
+Nevyn I farmed them for echoes my first play through, slap on the +200 frenzy res rune, whip out Ludwigs two-hander and they won't get any damage off before they die, I even let the frenzy pop after I've killed the lantern and just heal up to save on sedatives. They drop a rediculous amount of echoes, still not the best place to farm tho :P
Enes Bostan Gherman has a manic obsession with lady Maria, her and the doll share similar dainty and chiseled faces, with pale powdery skin, and a wispy silver hair. And when you kill Maria the doll says she feels like she’s free. Blatantly saying they are linked in some way.
How about the nightmare frontier being the surface of an actual human brain with the Amygdala in the correct place? Thought that was pretty cool. Like maybe you're just running around on Micolash's grey blob.
+fnargler I won't be surprised if it does get a bunch of game of the year awards. I don't think it's super mainstream but surely critics aren't going to pick anything else right? Right?
I love this series to death but its depressing to imagine that in 20-30 years there will be teens/young adults out there that wont play any of these games because they are "old" or because the graphics aren't as nice as they are in the future and they will miss out on all these wonderfully crafted stories.
+YuruYuri Videos Well, save the few that had such demented stories that people went mad or killed or committed suicide afterward. Those shall be lost, tucked away in me.
+Jeff Mcfarlane Yeah that's not necessarily true. A year or two ago I picked up and played through the entirety of Grandia, a game that was released in 1997, my birth year. Plus, at this point it's more likely that they'd dismiss a game for not being in VR or something than for it's graphics.
+YuruYuri Videos yeah that's true, but of the general population born after 2000, how many do you think will be going back an playing older games? probably fewer and fewer the generation born in 2010? by the time they are really old enough to enjoy more complicated video games do you think they will look at older games first?
+Jeff Mcfarlane That's what happened to Diablo 1 and 2 fans. Diablo 3 fans can be quite fickle about it. To quote one: "I tried it... just another shitty old game." It's weird. Imagine if modern Zelda fans didn't like Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time, or if Final Fantasy fans didn't even like people talking about 6 or 7.
I know the ending where you become a Great One is the technical "good ending" but to me the "best ending" is when you accept gehrman's offer, or at least the most beneficial to the player.
Took me YEARS to discover my first illusory wall. Seemed like a bit of an afterthought on the developers' part, but it's always nice to discover something new in a game after so long
Christopher Agha Not in the vid, just listen to the lanterns next time you're near them, I had to record the audio of the two to realize the connection.
Christopher Agha Ah, well, the single chorus in the dream's true song, you remember it yes? Well, the winter lanterns sing a distorted version of that chorus.
I was playing the first dungeon yesterday and noticed that design of the hunter rune. Really looks like someone hanging upside down. Going even further in speculation, I read some sources that claimed Bloodborne has something to do with tarot cards. That would link the "Hanged Man" card to the Hunters (because of the Hunters Rune) and the loss and sacrifice this card represents. It's a really interesting insight.
"This friendly crow" *glows eerily with the souls of vaati's former life in the video* - *2 weeks pass, watches the edwad series* Uhm..Vaati? You seem to be stuck in a few abusive friendships xD
I've just recently re-discovered Bloodborne, after last playing it half-heartedly and incompletely in late 2015. I have begun a new playthrough and I am now in full awe of, and entirely enraptured by, it. Going through your catalog of Bloodborne video content is supremely pleasing; I just want to say thanks! You do what you do exceedingly well.
I think that the doll was created to be used as a surrogate for the moon presences child. We know that the great ones require surrogates for their children. We find the women of the game impregnated after the nightmare ensues and find umbilical chords on them after they die. In the abandoned workshop we find a statue of the doll looking over an umbilical chord on an altar next to the lifeless doll. Also, the doll acts as a mother to you when you kill moon presence and become a great one. I think this also explains all the doll statues hidden around the chalice dungeons. The doll is the mother of the dream. Gherman even implies you can sex the doll if you want.
These are the “hunters dreams“ from other hunters. I think each hunter has his own “hunters dream“. If you think about it and walk around the edges of the hunters dream you will see, that it also is placed on some kind of arch tree. This wants us to show that there is no escape from the dream. At least thats my interpretation. I think vaati has some familiar theories about that in an other of his videos, but i cant remember which one it was.
You have no idea how great I find these videos to be. You bring understanding and make a lot of sense of it. I don't own Bloodborne myself, but any time I go to a friends house who owns it, they tell me they're stuck somewhere and I always get them out. I'm just used to how souls games are played. But besides that, keep up the good work. These videos are amazing.
I am so obsessed with this game. I’ve beat the main game and currently playing old hunters. I don’t get enough time to play it sometimes but I watch videos like these when i can. This is definitely my all time favorite game for sure! Thanks for the cool videos!
Just recently discovered Bloodborne (I know I'm late) and absolutely love it. Your videos have made the game even more enjoyable. They have been extremely informative and fun to watch. Thank you and I hope you keep putting stuff out there!!!
there is an interesting thing i learned when i went through old yharnam, and that is even if you have a two handed weapon in it's two handed form and a torch in the other, even if the torch is on your back, the beasts without cloths still fear the torch,as if it was still alight.
I am very sure that many people already discovered that but it was so cool for me when i finally triggered the prayer of the doll and i think i know how to hear it. When she is praying you have to get near hear without her noticing you (pretty difficult indeed 😅) If you go to the farest left where the chalice gravestones are, proceed very carefully till you get behind her and then you just get near enough. When you are behind her back you just have to go silently. Then she dont will notice you otherwise anymore 😉 I hope I could at least help one person still not discovered this ☺️
The hanged man tarot card, referring to the rune insight, can mean being suspended in time and depending on complementing cards/direction of the card during a fortune can either mean breaking or fitting the mold you’ve been trapped in. Kinda goes with the theme of being trapped in a cycle, with time that seems to stand still, even if you “break the mold” with the ending you choose.
I don't think the skull is too small. You have to remember that muscle and flesh (with other deformities) can increase it's overall size to proper proportion.
The Winter lanterns also have the same jointed fingers as the doll, which pretty much confirms something here. I like to think that the Winter Lanterns are grotesque manifestations of what we think of the doll that lurks in the back of our mind. Kind of like a "what if the doll is actually some malicious being created by Gehrman to lure us into a false sense of security so we can take his place?" I don't know, I just kind of what I think they are.
+VaatiVidya Another sign that the pebbles are eyeballs is that the Witches of Hemwick (the common enemy version, not the boss version) drop pebbles. Their grab attack is them gouging out your eyes with what looks like a melon baller and the boss version drops the bloodshot eyeballs.
I thought I was crazy about the music in the hunters dream changing with high insight. I'm sure I'm still crazy but at least I can check that reason off the list lol. Love the vids my dude, keep doing you 🎮 🔥
I recently got into collecting the Final Fantasy Ultimania books. I remember snippets of them appearing on forums and stuff back in the day (they weren’t translated) and some of the insight they provided into the game’s lore/development/etc. was mind-blowing. It’s just like a behind-the-scenes look at every aspect of the game. I really wish someone would approach From Software about creating something similar one day. I’ve always wondered if there were secrets in some of these games that we still haven’t unraveled.
Your insight into the hunters mark reminded me of The Hanged Man in tarot cards, where the eponymous man is also hung in a similar manner, upside down with arms tied back at an angle. And perhaps coincidentally the card typically symbolizes self sacrifice and life suspended or put on hold. Again, probably coincidence given I haven't seen much else relation to tarot in the game, but neat how it lines up "This is the card of ultimate surrender, of being suspended in time and of martyrdom and sacrifice to the greater good"
I just came to the conclusion about the pebbles today. I was showing my Dad the Pebble and it's item description when he says "They look like eyes." And I'm like "nah they're pebbles." But then I thought about where I find the most pebbles, carrion crows, and those eye ball scooping grannies in Hypogean Goal before killing Rom. Holy crap, they really are eyes. Then I figured that if they really were eyes, Vaati should have covered it at some point in one of his videos. And here I am. Quite Thrilling.
This is a random idea... I don't really know if this is even qualified as a theory but what if Gerhman liked someone before the scorge of beast? A maiden perhaps since such a book exists within the Dream. Not to mention it... The Doll looks like a maiden so what if Gerhman made it just so he doesn't lose his "humanity" as in emotions? Just an idea, could be horribly wrong or I could be some how correct. lol I mean, it makes sense in a way.
8 years later watching this after getting ready for Elden Ring's DLC and re-playing Bloodborne for the thousandth time I now realize how much Miyazaki had planned ahead. What with the eyes needed from Finger Maidens in ER to how Gherman's book on "How to pick up fair maidens" would have helped our poor tarnished out immensely, there was more foreshadowing here than I ever realized.
Another interesting thing about the Winter Lanterns, their off key singing that you hear when your insight is high enough is eerily similar to Mergo's Lullaby.
I think I just noticed something new that you missed. After seeing how the Winter Lanterns wear the same clothes as the doll, and then hearing how the music in the Hunter's Dream changes after 40 insight, I realised that's the same song the Winter Lanterns sing. Or at least they're trying to sing that song, because it sounds pretty damn similar.
+BDeerhead Yeah I thought that too, but I lined them up and they are quite different. I think your point is still valid though, there's definitely something to be said for how they're even trying to sing at all.
+VaatiVidya One other thing that I haven't noticed mentioned in any other videos I've seen so far, if you go back to the Abandoned Workshop after defeating Rom, not only will you be able to see the blood moon, but it also shines brighter there than anywhere else in the game! If not for the dark spots, it would easily be as bright as the setting sun was. The moon is certainly much bigger in Yahar'Gul and the Nightmare of Mensis, but I think it to be a point of greater importance that it shines brightest at the workshop.
The second-version Hunter's Dream music goes perfectly with your outro animation. I want to give your little DS knight a hug. Anyway, interesting list as always -- it's fascinating to see what people have discovered in the game (even if I'm years late to these videos).
Vaati, your Videos are beyond awesome. I freakin' love Bloodborne and your theories and facts are giving me so much more perspectives of this Game. Thanks for your hard work and dedication. Keep up the good work!
to the Pebbles thing: The witches in Bloodborne also drop pebbles which would support your theorie of them beeing eyeballs, because these witches like to carve your eyes out when they grab you.
The unique dialogue for the doll appeared for me right after I killed Queen Yharnam in the labyrinth; I thought that it was sort of a reward you get for struggling through the chalice dungeons.

The "eyes on the inside" thing is just a common thing in texturing. Since the texture most likely is a square, it warps when attached to a circle.

Here's an insight. Even after killing Rom, the Vacuous Spider, the moon is still not paleblood red at Byrgenwerth. This is either a mistake on FromSoftware, or it has greater lore implications.
Neither is it at Cainhurst.

That's because what is happening at Yharnam is only happening at Yharnam. And what the spider concealed, was only for that event in Yharnam.

@@m.l.2871Technically, even before the DLC, since Loran also imbibed of the Old Blood.
Hey, anyone else notice the hands? The hands are both doll hands with hinges..
Rae Of Astora The Winter Lantern's hands? It would make sense, since the Doll is not actually a real person (or at least not until you gain an insight).
yes those hands! That thing is a doll, and she is only in hunters nightmares, waifu watch as a monster is a nightmare
Maybe dolls that have become self aware eventually become their version of beasts too. Self awareness to the extreme is akin to maximum insight (Like the Lanterns, and the great Ones), which causes frenzy.
No shit. She's a DOLL...
I mean screw the clothing, that was the biggest giveaway really.
The hunters mark could also be a reference to the hanged man tarot card which, makes sense, its about being trapped, your stuck hanging so might aswell take it all in and observe
Regarding the doll having eyes on the inside of her eyes: the description of the one third of umbilical cord reads:
"Use to gain Insight and, so they say, eyes on the inside, although no one remembers what that truly entails."
"How to pick up fair maidens" Oh my god XD
+ExistentialOcto ''Even the Doll, if it pleases you...''

+Marc Pons Please tell me that's paleblood you can swat out of her and not anything else.
+lawoftheeast you'll never know...
At number 15 you forgot to mention that those monsters also have arms and hands just like the doll.
+Larissa A Not to mention the song they sing is the distorted version of the single chorus of the dream's true song, the one at the end of the video.
The Darkness Yooo that's dope.
Larissa A That's not the worst part. Notice the way the arms form to grab you.
+Larissa A Not to mention the "Brain" part of the Winter Lanterns is actually made of a bunch of Messengers, the dolls "Little ones".
doom dimention Was gonna say that for the creep factor!
The doll clothes also have really good frenzy resistance, the primary type of damage those fuckers deal.
And we all fucking sold them for easy bucks..

On a side note, you can begin the blood moon phase and the Hunter's Dream music will change on it's own. I never hit over 20 insight in my first few playthroughs and this happened every time.
Darksun Gwyndolin Only when you beat Rom
That's when the blood moon happens
Darksun Gwyndolin Oh. Sorry didn't read the comment properly!
yeah, and the reason is that the paleblood sky was being held back by rom, and rom holding it back is what what hiding all the insane shit from the normals. it's why you can also see the amygdalas with 0 insight after the paleblood moon rises. so what that means is that's what the hunter's dream music always sounded like, you just weren't good enough to hear it.
How did you not get over 20 insight
The pebbles also look suspiciously like the Death Star
That was what i thought and was waiting for him to say it but then he said eyes and i was like "nooo its the death star!!!" lol
+Vishnu Alcyone SAME!!!!!
+Hans Gruber maybe THAT'S what happens if you manage to collect more than 99 insight: you unlock the Force!!! WHOA!!! MIND!!! BLOWN!!!

*Why did the music change, and who is the voice that sings along with it?*
As Vaati shows, the music changes at 50 Insight or Blood Moon Phase, which is when the Eldritch Truth becomes noticable to the player. *The added singing in the music is directly linked to the perception of the Eldritch, making the song itself an Eldritch thing.*
The first question is answered, the singing is added because of the player's perception into the Eldritch. *It cannot be heard by someone who lacks Insight into the Eldritch.*
The second question is trickier, as we never really see the person/thing that sings in the music. The first one I thought of was that the doll was singing along, but the doll has no other changes along with higher Insight, nor do we actually notice her singing, so it didn't make much sense. Then I noticed the item description for the Formless Oedon Rune: *"The Great One Oedon, lacking form, exists in voice alone..."*
We know that Oeden never physically appears in the game, the only thing we have that hints at Oedon's existence is the rune, which informs us that Oedon can only be perceived in voice.
This is where I start getting into stretchy territory, but I would venture that *it's actually Oedon itself that sings in the Hunter's Dream after the player obtains knowledge of the Eldritch.*
I might be wrong, but if anyone has anything to add, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the matter.
Or woman, idk really....
Your name doesn' t tell that much...
Because this gave me +40 insight, I now see amygdalas on all the buildings on the street.
I don't think we really need to know who is singing. It's just a soundtrack change
Isn't the doll 'inhabited' by something? Maybe we can't normally percieve any part of it except the doll, but with one insight, we can hear it speak, and with 50, we can hear it sing.
(Supported by the fact that the doll is *always* alive.)
How did the crow kill you, Vaati?
It's embarrassing I don't want to talk about it
+VaatiVidya I understand. Some questions were never meant to have answers. May the good blood guide your way. *bows*
You may already know this (sorry if I'm not catching a joke) but your echoes don't go to what kills you, the echoes drop and any enemy can walk by and pick them up, even if they didn't kill you
+error40432 I get that lol It is a joke within the video when Vaati talks about the non-hostile crow and how it killed him. Thank for the help though
+error40432 This explains a lot :p
The dolls prayer could also make sense in the become a great one ending.
tipoomaster it makes sense in both the surrender to gherman ending and the new childhood ending. the only option she doesn't want for you is the one where you replace gherman.
6:27 the "eye collectors" ennemies will also drop either pebbles or bloodshot eyes or wathever they're called
Please, just let a poor old woman be..."
Interestingly, if you look closely at her with a monocular, you can see that she is turning into a beast. Which means that she is the only female beast in the game that is still mostly human, like all the enemy mobs, except she hasn't gone insane yet. That is, until the blood moon. She just groans if you try to talk to her then.
I think it's too late to answer you (2 freaking years), but i've heard this dialogue in the forbidden woods, in the village near the cave entrance
Same here mate. The original guy gives you an item and tells you to find like a hidden chapel or some. Then I came back for the hidden passage and I got the ladies dialogue instead and felt insulted lol
I got the beast groans after being there but I thought nothing of it since I did not revisit the place before after advancing to the last boss...
coltpython6 This is incredibly late but I think I have an answer for anyone whose curious.

The Cainhurst nobles did whatever illusions they had to make it where they didn't have to look at Yharnam and Hemwick.
anybody mention that the winter lanterns head is made of dead messengers
And they're hands are segmented at the joints. Just like the Plain Doll

BigBurr the winter lanterns also have doll hands you can see on the fingers
the "how to pick up fair maidens" is kinda creepy after you play the DLC.
SHADOWfox99 can you explain please?
Enes Bostan Gherman has a manic obsession with lady Maria, her and the doll share similar dainty and chiseled faces, with pale powdery skin, and a wispy silver hair. And when you kill Maria the doll says she feels like she’s free. Blatantly saying they are linked in some way.
@@Chilled-Vivi yes he made the Doll after Lady Maria
There's a picture frame missing above the hunter dream fireplace. The same picture frame on the table beside Maria in the Astral Clocktower.
How about the nightmare frontier being the surface of an actual human brain with the Amygdala in the correct place? Thought that was pretty cool. Like maybe you're just running around on Micolash's grey blob.

I love this series to death but its depressing to imagine that in 20-30 years there will be teens/young adults out there that wont play any of these games because they are "old" or because the graphics aren't as nice as they are in the future and they will miss out on all these wonderfully crafted stories.
+Jeff Mcfarlane True
+YuruYuri Videos Well, save the few that had such demented stories that people went mad or killed or committed suicide afterward.
Those shall be lost, tucked away in me.
+Jeff Mcfarlane Yeah that's not necessarily true. A year or two ago I picked up and played through the entirety of Grandia, a game that was released in 1997, my birth year. Plus, at this point it's more likely that they'd dismiss a game for not being in VR or something than for it's graphics.

yeah that's true, but of the general population born after 2000, how many do you think will be going back an playing older games? probably fewer and fewer the generation born in 2010? by the time they are really old enough to enjoy more complicated video games do you think they will look at older games first?
+Jeff Mcfarlane That's what happened to Diablo 1 and 2 fans. Diablo 3 fans can be quite fickle about it. To quote one: "I tried it... just another shitty old game."

Good point.

"How to pick up fair Maidens." Elden Ring ?????
Out there, those pole things in the hunter's dream. Those look like arch trees. What are they and why are they there?
Dark souls 1 also had something similar to that i believe, i wonder if its related somehow
Reminds me of a Lovecraft story that mentions basalt pillars
These are the “hunters dreams“ from other hunters. I think each hunter has his own “hunters dream“. If you think about it and walk around the edges of the hunters dream you will see, that it also is placed on some kind of arch tree. This wants us to show that there is no escape from the dream. At least thats my interpretation. I think vaati has some familiar theories about that in an other of his videos, but i cant remember which one it was.
Ion know, I just always assumed they were chalice dungeons for some reason lol
When you stand at the base of the great tree where you fight German and look out at them, they finally align like endless rows of pillars.
Bloodborne is magnificent, there won't be anything like it forever. My eyes always weep when I think about Bloodborne.

You didn’t talk about how the doll said “flora of the moon, of the dream” Which is the moon presences real name?
He was talking about it in the cut content video
Flora just means flower, which can reference the offshoot or bud of something. Flora of the Moon might mean "moonchild".
A Leo X oh yeah, forgot about that
Chris Manuel oh that’s interesting, the name flora makes a bit more sense
the crow pebble thing can also be a reference to how some birds shallow rocks to help break down their food
+That Guy Not just rocks, the stone must be smooth and round, like the ones the crows drop.
+That Guy these pebbles also look like death stars... damn the emperor will be angry!
Xplosive Baggins well when I use the pebble it does seem quite operational
+That Guy Also the witches drop them rarely if I'm right, and their grab attack is them trying to gouge out your eyes.

Just recently discovered Bloodborne (I know I'm late) and absolutely love it. Your videos have made the game even more enjoyable. They have been extremely informative and fun to watch. Thank you and I hope you keep putting stuff out there!!!
this game is a fuckin masterpiece game of the generation for me
Anyone else think of the hanged man tarot card when he said "dangling rune?"
there is an interesting thing i learned when i went through old yharnam, and that is even if you have a two handed weapon in it's two handed form and a torch in the other, even if the torch is on your back, the beasts without cloths still fear the torch,as if it was still alight.
Then she dont will notice you otherwise anymore 😉
I hope I could at least help one person still not discovered this ☺️
The hanged man tarot card, referring to the rune insight, can mean being suspended in time and depending on complementing cards/direction of the card during a fortune can either mean breaking or fitting the mold you’ve been trapped in.
I always like to think that the changed music is Flora singing.
regarding 13 if you look at the skull you can see it is cracked open in a way that lines up with the giant gaping gash on the bloodletting beast.
+pjfett Nice observation! Really makes you wonder, doesn't it? I'll have to match up their sizes soon and check
I honestly thought the Pebble was a tiny Death Star, actually.
7:30 the maggots also don't spawn at all when you don't have that much insight.
"How to pick up maidens" from software has their games planned years ahead ez clap
I re-watch these Bloodborne videos every few months because it's my favorite game ever and these insights are just too good.
I thought I was crazy about the music in the hunters dream changing with high insight. I'm sure I'm still crazy but at least I can check that reason off the list lol. Love the vids my dude, keep doing you 🎮 🔥
I need that book of Ghurnam’s I’m tired of being told I’m maidenless in ER
OH DAMN, I was wondering why the hub music sounded different on my playthroughs
+krump0 It changes after killing Rom anyway.
Hi, it's you, Krumpli!
The imagery in this game makes my brain happy
Vaati, your voice automatically heightens the quality of even your "easy" videos.
Thanks for the link, Vaati. I'm the "Jeremy from DarkSoulsHaters" you mentioned. :)
Recommending Berserk and not apologizing in advance should be illegal Mr Vidya.
+Eoin Farow Yeah i think a bit of a warning was in order
Your insight into the hunters mark reminded me of The Hanged Man in tarot cards, where the eponymous man is also hung in a similar manner, upside down with arms tied back at an angle. And perhaps coincidentally the card typically symbolizes self sacrifice and life suspended or put on hold.
Again, probably coincidence given I haven't seen much else relation to tarot in the game, but neat how it lines up
"This is the card of ultimate surrender, of being suspended in time and of martyrdom and sacrifice to the greater good"
I just came to the conclusion about the pebbles today.

Oh what is the beats doing?
Oh well I guess we have a connection to Sekiro here
Bit of s stretch but the book "how to pick up fair maidens" might be in reference to Elden Ring
Perhaps... We don't really know until maybe when Dlc reveals more lore.
Right on the spot
8 years later watching this after getting ready for Elden Ring's DLC and re-playing Bloodborne for the thousandth time I now realize how much Miyazaki had planned ahead. What with the eyes needed from Finger Maidens in ER to how Gherman's book on "How to pick up fair maidens" would have helped our poor tarnished out immensely, there was more foreshadowing here than I ever realized.
Another interesting thing about the Winter Lanterns, their off key singing that you hear when your insight is high enough is eerily similar to Mergo's Lullaby.
How to pick up fair maidens, huh? I guess our Tarnished friend could use that advice...
Something about the doll, if you have no insight what so ever, she is dormant like she is at the start of the game. It's..crazy.
+VaatiVidya sometimes i feel like the souls games have a mind of there own
+BDeerhead also, if you look at the side-by-side in the video, it looks like their hands are segmented just like the Doll's hands.
I can't think of a game, movie, or tv show that was made in a while that can hold a candle to Bloodborne. BB truly is a masterpiece
The second-version Hunter's Dream music goes perfectly with your outro animation. I want to give your little DS knight a hug. Anyway, interesting list as always -- it's fascinating to see what people have discovered in the game (even if I'm years late to these videos).
perhaps the winter lanterns are possessed/corrupted versions of the doll that were failed attempts at animating her
Vaati, your Videos are beyond awesome.
This was really cool and all, but I think it pushed me over the edge because now I can see the Amygdala clinging to the side of my house.
The unique dialogue for the doll appeared for me right after I killed Queen Yharnam in the labyrinth; I thought that it was sort of a reward you get for struggling through the chalice dungeons.
